Call & Message continuity - Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Questions & Answers

Where do I find the setting for this. It's on my S10 but not on the tablet.

At my S8 mobile I had to open settings menu from pulling down status bar. Then I pressed the search icon. I typed in
SMS
The phone will be searching a while before it popups. I also found in phone:
Settings -/ Advanced -/ Allow others SMS and Call
And one of the options showed SMS control which happens also to be Call and SMS message continuity. It shows only other devices like your tablet S5e or Tab S6 that have the same Samsung account.
First configure your tablet and enable it at your tablet first! Then start at your mobile phone the instructions. The menu in your mobile is somewhat hidden for now.
After success try calling your voicemail e.g. from your tablet and see what your mobile phone does.
Both devices must be online. So actually you have to read this guide twice. Would be nice if others post here too if it for them also works.

Contacts/Phone app

Hi guys, I've just moved over from iphone so still finding my feet with android.
For the most part android is far superior but the contact side of things is still bugging me. This is what I want to be able to do:
1. Have my call log as calls only, not texts. I know you can change this to view calls received, dialled etc, but it soons defaults back and shows everything. I just want my log to have dialled and received and nothing else? I'm sure i've read somewhere on the net that this was possible on the SGS through a hack??
2. I want to set up a favourites list of say best mate, gf, work etc and just be able to press their name and it dials there number, not opens another window that shows history, text option, dial option video call option, i.e. just direct dial. I also would like this to be the first screen that opens when I press my phone icon on the dock??
I've set my gf up on my desktop as a direct dial shortcut, but I don't want to be doing that for everyone. I've got a load of contacts but maybe only dial 10 at most on a regular basis.
are there any hacks or thrid party dialers that do this??
Cheers

I can help you with #2. Just swipe right on your favorite and you call that favorite immediately. Swipe left to immediately send a message.

hmmm, can't say i can see a way around No.1, other than using a new dialer/contacts app such as Go Contacts or Dialer One etc..
must say, i actually quite like the comprehensive log, coming from Sense and Stock roms with calls only, i like having it all in one place...
Dialer One would be my choice, but only as i used it on CM7 on my Hero for its smart dial feature... can't comment on Go Contacts
hope this helps
Dickie
I use loads off texts a day so within 10 mins of dialling someone their details are long gone
I'll check out Go Contacts and Dialer One though, thanks for the recommendations
This is a Samsung thing, regular android does not put texts with the call log. I don't think I'd like them to be combined like that.
it is the right thing to do

I like them combined. There again, there could be an option to control it.
Go Contacts is just the ticket
Thanks guys, much better now

How to auto-reject calls

With the recent OS releases for the Epic, we've lost functionality to auto-reject calls or send them straight to voicemail. I searched here, but didn't find much. With all the "political survey" calls I've been getting lately, I figured there's got to be some way to do this, and for free.
There is.
First, you'll need "Any Cut" from the market. Create a "new shortcut" and then select "activity". Look for an activity called "call settings". Most likely there'll be two. The first one worked on my phone, I had to pick the second on my wife's phone, so this is a bit of a trial and error process. The one you want, when clicked, will give you a screen that has "All Calls" at the top.
For whatever reason, this is the menu that's hidden in the OS. It's there, but you just can't get to it...or at least I didn't find a way. At any rate, click on "all calls" and look for the "auto reject" selection, which is the second one. You'll have to click on "enable auto reject". Then you can start entering numbers into the "auto reject list". Hit the menu button to add numbers. The format for the numbers doesn't contain dashes, so for 123-456-7890, you'd enter 1234567890.
So, now when a number calls you, your device won't ring, you'll get a momentary dialog box that tells you a call was auto-rejected and they get sent straight to voicemail.
Enjoy!

For those who don't use google voice, this is great! Thanks!
I use mr number in play store. Its free and easy to setup. You can also set to block text.
If you don't want to install Mr. Number due to bloat of that particular app, then you can try the below paid app if rooted.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.pro
You can also achieve the same thing by logging into your account on Sprint website.
Go to "My preferences" tab and on the bottom in the section "Limits and permissions" you'll find Block Voice, Block Texts etc.

This is what I did when I got sick of my cable co.'s sales calls. It works well. That's a relief too because when I tried this feature before (on a different rom/radio, maybe that affected it?) it wouldn't allow any calls in or out while on roaming when used. But now it's fine.

Android Wear iOS - Enable features not supported

As we know setting up the application using the iOS version of Android Wear removes certain features from the smart watch.
I have my LG Ubrane setup with my iPhone and indeed the wifi settings are not in the menu.
It seems that data remains on the filesystem even after a factory reset, when you configure the watch using Android it copies across the wpa_supplicant.conf.
When you reset the device and configure it using the iOS app the files remain so the wifi works, but theres no option to configure the menu.
If you run the following command it will bring the wifi settings into view:
Code:
adb shell am start -n com.google.android.apps.wearable.settings/com.google.android.clockwork.settings.wifi.WifiSettingsActivity
However i cant find a way of having this option enabled in the settings menu.
If setup the device using Android and used TWRP to backup the DATA folder, then setup using iOS and again TWRP to backup the DATA folder. Ive then done a diff but for the life of me I cant see where the settings is being configured. The APK files are the same so there must be a local file dictating whats enabled or not.
So my questions is, where on Android wear is the com.google.android.apps.wearable.settings packing getting its configuration?
Many Thanks
Hope you get this reply, as I have been working on this same thing or similar for a long time. I was able to get the watch to make calls from my iPhone, and the ability to receive and answer calls on the watch. The issue is that the only calls that come through that are answerable with the watch, are numbers that are not in my contact list. I've searched up and down, even got the android wear app on the iPhone to prompt for contacts sync, and the contacts do in fact sync. In the data folder of com.google.android.apps.wearable.settings, if you change the value of "setup skipped" to "1" instead of "2", you get the whole UI, the one you would get with a paired android phone. The same goes with "bluetooth mode" switching to '1" from "2". When either of these are switched, the watch still connects with the iPhone, but does not receive notifications (i.e. text messages, app notifications, etc.) Also, the google voice search stops working, yet you can manually check the weather fine with the weather app on the watch. I am using a jailbroken iPhone, and was able to get permission for contacts sync using the tweak "Flex 2". If you have found out anything new since you posted this, please let me know. Lastly, I was able to get the watch to make calls by having it paired for both BLE and standard bluetooth, so when you look at the list of paired/connected bluetooth devices on my iPhone, my watch shows up twice, both connected at the same time. I was also able to get the input methods (keyboard selection) to show up in settings, but am unable to make it happen again.
Hi,i also have my lg urbane connected to my iphone ,but there are no much things i can do.i cant even make a phone call from the watch.i am using ios 9.2 so i cant jailbreak it to use flex and get some tweaks.so what i want to ask is,if there is a way to make a phone call or even reply to text messages.please reply ,all iphone users want to find a solution for this problem.MAKE ANDROID WEAR

Some weirdness with t-mobile service on 900v

I'm running the ok3 no bs rom, and I have root. I figured out my apn settings so sms and mms are working on my T-Mobile sim.I still have a couple of issues though.
1. How do I unlock band 4? I've seen a thread about it that says I need to activate a hidden service menu to do this. I followed the directions in that thread with no success. (E.g. change /efs/carrier/hiddenmenu from OFF to ON and reboot) every service menu code actually dials a number and gets me a recording saying it's not valid.
2. I've also run into a few problems with my touch tones not being recognized during calls. When I press the button I see the number in the dialer but the remote system does not recognize the key press. I've been looking for any kind of setting for this but have come up empty handed.

Force enabling Google's Jibe RCS in Samsung Messages

2021 - FINAL UPDATE: A new method is out! Check out the new thread!
UPDATE 2: /u/poptamale on Reddit found a possible solution! Check it out.
UPDATE: With Android 11, you can't acess the IMS Settings menu (Step 8) on Snapdragon devices only. Let's hope someone finds a new way soon! (Exynos is still ok).
Hello everyone.
I was able to enable RCS on my Galaxy S20+ (EXYNOS) and make it possible to chat with people using Google Messages. So that means I connected to Google's Jibe RCS.
These are the steps I followed to make it work (must follow step-by-step):
1. Download and install Google Messages.
2. Open Google Messages and enable Chat Features.
3. Download and install Carrier Services.
4. Download and install Phone by Google.
5. After confirming that Chat Features have been enabled in Google Messages, launch Samsung Messages.
6. Set Samsung Messages back to the default Messaging app.
---
EXYNOS only:
7. Launch Phone by Google. Set it as default Dialler app.
8. At the dialler, type: *#*#467#*#* or *#77467#
9. IMS Settings will open automatically.
SNAPDRAGON only: (thanks to /u/poptamale)
7. Download and install any Activity Launcher from the Play Store. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rrivenllc.shieldx).
8. Search for IMS Settings.
9. Go to "Activities" and tap on the first option to open IMS Settings.
---
10. Go to "IMS Service Switch". Turn on "RCS Switch". Turn on all the features under the "RCS" category.
11. Go back. Go to "RCS Configuration". Make sure both options are set to "Always Connect".
12. Allow the permissions for Carrier Services and Samsung Messages.
13. Force stop and Clear data for Carrier Services and Samsung Messages.
14. Open Samsung Messages and check if "Chat settings" or "Advanced messaging settings" have appeared in Settings.
15. Restart your device!
16. Open Samsung Messages and wait 2-5minutes.
17. Samsung Messages has been connected to Google Jibe. Congratulations!
18. You may uninstall Google Messages and Phone by Google. Don't uninstall Carrier Services.
19. Tell your friends to install Google Messages, so you can chat through RCS!
I also made a video version of these steps:
The difference of this method with the others, is that it doesn't permanently disable (except when updating OS). In the cases when it disconnects, it will just connect again later (automatically). And most important, you can contact through the carrier's and Google's RCS at the same time.
I hope Samsung updates their Messages app, so we won't have to keep doing all this.
Please, let me know if it works for your devices, too. We can share with each other information and even improve this guide.
Thank you for your time!
I've been doing this for the past few months, with the only exception being that I didn't have to install either carrier services or Google messages. I'd just install phone by Google and do the aforementioned steps, followed by a restart and everything would work.
Interesting, what is preventing Samsung from officially supporting RCS then?
Doesn't work on S20 Exynos with OneUI 3. Chat option disappears each time.
Do you have a solution to get RCS all the time ?

The chat may disable/renable temporarily some times. It will disable permanently if you update the software or change the default messages app.
Did you switch to Samsung Messages as default before enabling RCS in IMS Settings?
in my samsung messages i can see people that also have RCS (they have little blue bubble next to their avatar), but when i go into settings, i don't quite have the same options as you do in your video.
for example, i don't have "Shared Image Quality", "Shared Video Quality", and "Select default messaging type" in my samsung messages options. another interesting thing, is that after downloading Carrier Services, the "Force Close" button is greyed out and i can't force close it. i also can't clear the cache on it as it is also greyed out. restarted the phone and the same thing.
now, some new features did show up in my settings like the "chat settings" option where i have "multimedia limit", "nickname in chats", "send read receipt", and "share typing indications" in there. but that's it. also, when i disable "chat features" in google messages settings, i still have the extra "chat settings" options in my samsung messages. so enabling anything through google messages doesn't seem to do anything. google phone app is the only one that seems to do anything. i'm on factory unlocked Galaxy S20 and on Tmobile carrier in the US and i'm still on Android 10
I tried this on a tmobile s21 ultra. For some reason access is denied for IMS settings for me. No activity launcher I tried was able to actually launch that activity.
Any suggestions?
Didnt work on S20 988B Exynos CUA8 VAU.
-IMS setting didn't appear with google phone.
-Used Alliance Shield X but still it didnt show in Samsung Messages.

I ran into the same issue
Does this enable it if your device is rooted with Magisk?
I did all the steps but it's not working, no blue bubbles and no rcs. I got a new option screen called advanced messaging appear in my messages settings though. I'm on at&t prepaid, android 11
