Android on Webos (chroid) 0.1 Alpha is out for tasting. (update 10/16, no IPK)

Update (10/16):
The next release will be vastly improved. 0.1 alpha is just a card concept and may not be usable. This release will be usable and fix most unpleasant display issues. We will move to beta soon.
Please be advised, Alpha release is full of bugs and is advised NOT to be installed. It is up to you to take the risk and taste the concept.
Stay tuned, and IPK will be ready within 7 days.
Update (10/8):
The IPK is ready. You can check a screenshot here:
http://ww4.sinaimg.cn/large/6fa7488egw1dlvzcs7wxkj.jpg
Not be able to fix sound issue in this release. May still experience some screen flicking. Airplane icon is not removable, please just ignore it (some program may still report network issue).
There are still lots of work to do.
Downloading: http://www.wupload.com/file/344498750
Update (10/06):
The last release is skipped since more candies are coming.
1. Fake SD card is mounted now. Programs need SD access can be run.
2. Wifi issue is solved. No network issues.
The author is working on sound issue and will wrap around in the next two days and release the next very alpha very soon.
Update (10/05):
I am not the author (Chomper_T) of this project. All information is copied from his blog.
The IPK is running in a card today (no need to implement hardware switches such as wifi, bluetooth or power), and you can manipulate this card like any other WebOS apps. Whether implementing one single card or multiple sub-cards like built-in browser is open to discussion. Will release the update soon.
The next update will be openGL, which will improve multimedia performance.

Still in Alpha. (10/04)
Discussion:
http://www.treo8.com/bbs/thread-264215-1-1.html
Download:
http://115.com/file/aq7ufs34#chomper.app.android_0.0.1_all.ipk
The IPK file is about 81MB, and need more than 5 mins to be installed via preware only. Just be patient and will do no harm to your Webos.
Authors blog: (You need a weibo account to access.)
http://weibo.com/chomper
Limits:
0. Initial language is Chinese only. You can switch language in settings (may need some tries and guess ).
1. Wifi switch is not working. Using webos Wifi switch. The network will always show airplane mode, but you can use the browser now.
2. Single touch so far.
3. Keys: Home: home, Power: power, Volume upper: back, volume down: menu
4. The whole IPK runs as OS so far, and will run in a card in next release.
5. SD card is not mounted so far, so any program using SD card will not work.
6. Usable space has only 11MB left, therefore any big APK will not work.
7. No google market so far. Put your apks in /APKS folder when you mount your tablet as a USB drive.
8. All other things do not work so far.
In order to go back to webos, you need "press and hold" the power button for 5 secs and then select the third option.
If the touchscreen does not work, you can reboot by pressing "home + power" for 15 secs.
Don't worry, all things will be fixed quickly since there is no hardware or big driver issues here.

oh ok so power cycle is to hold the power button and the menu button (I guess it's set as the home button in android) then it will reboot
Looks interesting, but I think I will wait for CM team
I struggle to understand why this would be made available or demonstrated.. it's clearly nowhere near what could be considered alpha. Nice to know it's happening, but doesn't yet require any assistance in bug finding.

[CALLING DEVELOPERS] Jolla's Sailfish OS port continuity (GNU/Linux)

Hey fellows!
A screenshot of another older phone for attention: https://twitter.com/sledgeSim/status/625235917486338048
yuga's Sailfish OS port was shaping up during past months, by @oleid, but he got carried away by his studies. Now that Sailfish OS UX 2.0 is on the doorstep, is a good time to restart a port! If you're completely new: https://sailfishos.org/hadk
We also just provided LED notification support for Xperia Z, but this needs testing: https://github.com/nemomobile/mce-plugin-libhybris/pull/16
Original porter left all documentation here: https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris/Install_SailfishOS_for_yuga (including link to automated script) and modem hurdles: http://piratepad.net/hadk-yuga
Pop by to #sailfishos-porters and we'll guide you through if you want to make a build a new Sailfish OS version for your beloved phone, and also make those phonecalls work
Cheers!

[ROM][DEV] Porting Halium to Galaxy S6

In the interest of bringing convergence of linux operating system in phones and desktops after canonical abandoned the project, the halium.org project and ubports took the baton. Halium project's objective is to create a standard way to wrap all the android code necessary for a OS to talk to hardware so one can build a linux operating system on top of android (no java code getting in the way). It could be used by any number of OS's like sailfish, ubuntu touch or new mobile distributions, like archlinux on the phone (yeah, I'm an arch guy). It is based on the hybris library, whitch is kind of a wrap so the glibc can be interface with android libc (called bionic, which is a little bit off standard).
A lot of you know all that (specially the ones likely to help), I just giving some contest in case someone it's not tunned in.
So I'm on the endevour of porting it to galaxy S6 taking advantage of the work of TeamNexus (which is a working in progress), whom work on the device specific code made it possible to undertake this task and LinageOS for the rest of android code (Thank you both!).
So, for anyone who wants to coordinate efforts to make this port, or for anyone who wants to help me troubleshoot some of the problems I'm having, fell free to come aboard. Here are useful links:
Halium.org - Project homepage
porting documentation
TeamNexus git repository
Local Manifests: device code and repo manifest.
Here is a patch on all the modifications I had to do to so the device specific code
fixup-mountpost for the zerofltexx device (It is used to modify the fstab file so systemd can mount it without udev) apperantly there might be a format error on my part here. That is what the devs said, but I can't figure it out. I followed the instructions in the documentation... (I didn't wanted to push it with questions.)
progress so far:
- [x] Manifest with kernel, vendor, device tree
- [x] Setup kernel defconfig for hybris-boot (using mer-kernel scripts and zerofltexx kernel as reference)
- [x] Fix mountpoints
- [p] Build
- - [x] systemimage
- - [x] mkbootimg
- - [ ] hybris-boot
- [ ] Flash and test with reference rootfs
- - [ ] Get LXC working
- - [ ] Get wifi working
- - [ ] Halium tests
-- - [ ] test_vibrate
-- - [ ] test_lights
-- - [ ] test_vibrate
-- - [ ] test_hwcomposer
-- - [ ] test_audio
-- - [ ] test_camera
- - [ ] Clean up and share my manifest and sources and stuff
Testing rootfs:
- [ ] halium 7.1 reference
- [ ] Plasma Mobile (boots! Graphics! Wifi!)
- [ ] UBports rootfs
This first post is going to be updated with any information needed for porting Halium for galaxy s6 from source and its progress.
I will post the problems I had in another post, but I got to get going now. So I will just post the make error I'm getting
Hello Alkis05,
We are 2 young developers and we are interested in porting Ubuntu Touch for a Samsung device (Galaxy Tab A6 2016 10.1” : gtaxllte).
We were very excited to see that you are interested too in this project and, even if you are not porting it for the same device, we would be very happy to get in touch with you for this project.
We saw that you are at a quite advanced step of the project. As for us, we are trying to write the correct manifest in order to build Halium. We have lots of difficulties with this file because I don’t know how to include the correct repositories.
We would be very thankful if you could help us with this step, as we saw that you successfully did it for your device.
Would you be able to help us ?
As for the for the steps of the project, we would be very happy to participate. Would you accept to work with us on this project ?
Of course, we would continue the port on the two devices, yours and ours.
Finally, we would like to present ourselves :
We are two young teenagers : Nyell Xade Jean (15 years old, St Lucia) and Jean-Baptiste Amade (16 years old, France). We are very good friends and we have been working on lots of projects together.
Xade is a specialist of android devices, he has a dedicated YouTube channel about this subject (Pops Productions Tech).
As for me (Jb), I’m very interested in Linux (I’m using Ubuntu every day) and that’s why i decided to port Ubuntu Touch to my tablet.
Concerning the device we are working on, it’s a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 2016 10.1” (manufacturer code name : gtaxllte). On GitHub I found different repositories related to this device but the difficulty I’m facing is that I can’t fill correctly the Halium manifest.
If you accept to help us, I’ll explain you more precisely my problem.
We hope that you’ll accept to work with us on this project.
Thank you in advance

fixup-mountpoints file
Looks like your fixup-mountpoints entry need to be adjusted a little bit. It needs to be like this (like the entries already in that file):

Android 11

Will the developers port Android 11 (AOSP) to the Galaxy A205G?: D: D
Well, they did already. Just go to this page and pick this file
system-roar-arm64-ab-vanilla.img.xz
That should fit in your system partition.
At the moment only GSI's are available - They aren't stable. Someone mentioned that they are building the device tree for the A20 (not sure how true this is) - from there they will start making custom AOSP ROM's for the device.
