Unlocking the Bootloader - Redmi 7A Questions & Answers

I just bought this is a second/work phone. I would like to get rid of all the extra software, root the device and possibly flash another ROM in the future. SInce this is my first Xiaomi device, I am wondering what is the procedure to unlock the bootloader?

From searching, it sounds like the only way is to REQUEST it via this procedure (requires SIM, MI account, and TIME/waiting for approval.):
https://www.getdroidtips.com/unlock-bootloader-xiaomi-redmi-7/
I'm wondering if anyone knows if that is absolutely the ONLY way, or if one has the Redmi 7A phone physically, there is some way to root/unlock boot loader.

[Q] Arc s on 3

I have an Arc s using the 3 branded 4.0.4 (4.1.L.0.8) firmware and have wanted to root and unlock the boot loader for ages. The problem is that I don't know the best method of unlocking the boot loader and root the phone. Was wondering if someone could send me in the right direction or give me a good tutorial on how to go from the very basic no root stock firmware to having the phone rooted with the boot loader unlocked would be great if someone if able to help me.

Now that's out of the way, read the stickys, although you seem to have new F.W so it might be rootable using the existing methods or you may need to wait until someone figures out how to root it. Bootloader unlocking is the same regardless of firmware.

I have (nearly) the same phone, also on 3 (rant to follow!). In short, your bootloader cannot be unlocked without paying someone to do it for you (around £15). You can still use custom roms (via CWM recovery) without an unlocked bootloader, so IMHO not really worth it. I was waiting for a former member of XDA to unlock my phone for around a week (we weren't free at the same times, etc) and in the end didn't bother.
There may be other ways, but personally I used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683189, but for ease of use, the toolkit from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601038. Bascially, you need to flash the 4.0.3 kernel using flashtool, use DooMLoRD's kit to root the device, then flash the 4.0.4 kernel back again. After that, you can get CWM recovery from the market, and use that with any rom suitable for locked bootloaders.
BTW, 3 are absolutely the WORST network in the UK, just got off the phone arguing with them about them cutting all 2G services (i now realise why my reception has been so bad for the past 6 months!) while also raising the price of my packages, all without warning.

thanks! just the reply I was looking for . I have had no problems on 3, the service and the network has been great for me. I just hate that I am not able to use Sony's method of unlocking the boot loader due to being on 3's branded firmware >.<

I have 3 also in Sweden, but Alejanrissimo (a guy in the forum) unlocked the bootloader for me remotely and now it is very good. I can flash ROM, kernel, get easy root etc.
I payed 19 US dollars over PayPal and after 10 minutes (with some paper clip operation stuff) my phone was unlocked, even the SIM was unlocked too. :good:
I can still use PCC and SEUS and the TrackID is also still there.

[Q] It's SIM unlocked? It can be bootloader unlocked?

Hi!
Thanks for be reading, I want to buy a Razr M for a while now, I had make some questions before, but know I just want to be sure about somethings before I buy them, they are going to be 2.
1º, I would like to know if the phone it's really unlocked for overseas uses, I don't live in USA but I fall for this phone the moment I see it.
2º. I can't live without CM, but in the official suport page states that need unlock bootloader and to be unlocked it need to be on stock prior to 9.20.1. Some days ago I googled it and found nothing, but know it's just about being sure.
3º, Would you still recomended this phone? -- I'm going for a use one, cause I just have ~$150. The pros I see for this phone are the Super AMOLED screen, the dual core procesor and the 1Gb of RAM. I think it's a perfect math. I don't really see any other options with better specs, but, againg, just to be sure.
Thanks you!
Yes, the phone is global capable. No, you can't unlock the BL if is has an update from 9.20.1 or after. You can root that system version, but if you get a phone with newest update you won't be able to root it. For the price that these phone are going for now, it would probably be worth the money. Just be aware that you might not be able to modify it.

One Click Root?

Hey Im getting the Moto X Pure Editon and I was wondering if there are any viable one click root methods, or a way to root without unlocking the bootloader. I have read that one certain (very questionable) method that XDA is against (and rightly so) can be used, but I have no plans on going that route. Im certainly not new to unlocking a bootloader and am not against it. Ive had the original Moto X Developer Edition, and currently have the Nexus 6, but the whole void the warranty deal I would like to avoid if at all possible. If I could get root and use titanium backup and ad free I could be fine with that. That being said is there a way to root without unlocking the bootloader. And is there something like on the old Droid Razr where you could install a recovery while the bootloader is still locked. Yes I know google is my friend and I have looked but haven't seen anything. So my assumption is I will probably have to unlock the bootloader. But I did want to ask before I jumped and unlocked it, because if anyone would know I know I could find out on here.

No, no one has developed a method to root without unlocking the bootlader and i doubt there will be one anytime soon(if ever since it's so easy and is an unlocked phone)
Ok thank you.

With the hassles Motorola gives people trying to get warranty support after unlocking the bootloader, it would actually be quite beneficial.
Unlocking bootloader does not void warranty completely!!! Software issues caused by the user are indeed not under warrenty anymore. Hardware related issues are.. I had 2 times screen blemishes and both times my screen got replaced for free. Great service from motorola.

Ok I have done that with other phones but I had read mixed results concerning the Moto X Pure. So if it is hardware related Motorola will honor the warrenty, software your SOL. But software we can always reflash the stock system and all.

I'd stick with the tested and tried methods. One click options have the potential for opening the doorway to unwanted content.....
Chainfire's supersu has been around for a long time.
Unlocking the bootloader is a must if you want to root on this phone... ATM anyway and I doubt it will change. I used to think one click root was the way to go too but once again, there are potentially many things that can go wrong so knowing the tried and true manual ways is always best. Knowing how to recover from botched attempts has allowed me to bring my phone back from soft bricks several times.
Sent from my awesome phone!

Boot loader unlock

I guess it may be too early to know, but does anyone know if the boot loader will be unlockable on the US version? I know it doesn't release until mid July. I'm contemplating this because I like the looks and even the specs (I don't need the latest and greatest processor). The copper colored one on Amazon looks fantastic.
I think this thread is important. Keeping an eye on it. Would consider a purchase if unlockable. It would be a ****ty move to not unlock it. They could sell more phones if unlockable

Ok so i got all the files required to root a lenovo k6, theres probably something that will need to be modified.
File are here : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B2dVzKZymUDWQnJXbFlBeXZCQUk?usp=sharing
please correct me if im wrong. Hopefully someone can dig into this because i really dont get time to search and try and test it on my own. Plus this is my main phone, cant ruin it.(half ruined with no g services already)
Also i want to add that i tried the blackberry method too, https://forums.crackberry.com/black...lts-official-google-apps-landing-page-965257/

getting bootloader code hash?

Hi,
Since Huawei closed giving away bootloader codes,
and I've blowed 60 USD on dc unlocker,
is there a way to get the bootloader code hash to decrypt it with hashcat, for example?
Best Regards,
Aleksander

Downgrade as low as possible and give it a try.
haexhub/huaweiBootloaderHack: Huawei-unlock-bootloader (github.com)
Edit:
First Download This -> SkyEmie/huawei-honor-unlock-bootloader: A simple tool for managing Huawei/Honor devices to unlock bootloader (github.com)
then grab unlock.py from haexhub and replace it. Then its a 'All-in-One Package' - no need to install anything.

THANKS A LOT M8!!!!!!!!!!!
I've started the program but i am just curious how many different codes/how many attempts can there be in total?
Thats a good question, im sure u can find the answer in one of the 2 repos. One is endless (pure bruteforce) vs IMEI + HASH.
I'm still too lazy to Downgrade my Phone to give it a try (with out rebooting every 4 attempts), because no clue if its worth all the effort, as Huawei modding / hacking seems like almost dead.

Ok thanks I've started the brute force the day same as u shared the github links and it's still on attempt around 97k so I'am still trying...
But do u know if it's possible to copy the WHOLE boot partition without unlocking bootloader?
Oh wow! Didnt expect that it might take this long.
And no, sorry. But i doubt that its possible, otherwise some sneaky hackers would found that gloryhole already.

I have just successfully unlocked the bootloader lock by the Taobao service CNY30. It is done by PC remote control. My P10 phone (VTR-AL00) was firstly downgraded from my EMUI 9.1 to EMUI 5. Then the operation was very fast (ROM firmware loading time was long) & I can't see clearly. At last it was successfully unlocked & the guy gave me the unlock code also. If you guys want to do this, you need to ask a friend who know Chinese writing to chat on the net. Then I upgraded the phone using Huawei official upgrade from the phone to EMUI 9.0. Then I flashed the openkirin ROMs successfully. I've tried all four ROMs (RR, OMNI, AOSP, AEX). All of them have some bugs. One important one is the phone can't be charged when powered off. It will go to bootloader mode when plugged with the charging cable. You need to charge when the phone is on.
Install testpoint drivers ( https://files.dc-unlocker.com/share.html?v=share/18B15B9D02C945A79B1967234CECB423 - these worked for my p10 lite), enter download mode via testpoints then use PotatoNV - https://github.com/mashed-potatoes/PotatoNV , i just did this two days ago then installed twrp and rooted with magisk, fairly simple and insanely useful, only drawback is you need to open up your phone back cover to do it. Works without downgrading on Emui 8
THANKS GUYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT <3
I've succesfully opened my phone with dc unlocker
You may want to try the testpoint method. Worked like charm for me. Check potatonv git and YouTube..
Once we find the code, bootlocker unlocking factory reset it?
