I reduced the refresh rate to 60 Hz to save some battery life to compensate for some other battery-hogging tweaks, and honestly, I can't tell the difference in my own use. It's still plenty crisp and smooth.
That being said, I'm not a gamer, and I don't watch videos on the phone save for the occasional YouTube video that someone will send me a link to; so don't take my experience as necessarily being typical. For the way I use the phone, it's nice and smooth even at 60 Hz. YMMV.

This phone is smooth when scrolling. It's the smoothest scrolling phone I've ever experienced.

I have terrible smoothness. Everything laging when scrolling. 5t when bought was working much more smoothly. If the update does not improve the situation, I will sell the phone and forget about Oneplus

These are at 60Hz. I needed to offset some other battery-hogging tweaks I made, so I turned the refresh rate down.

The jerks are perfectly visible on the video

I think that has more to do with YouTube's resizing and transcoding than anything else. Playing the videos directly on my computer, they look much better; and looking directly at the screen rather than at a recording, I don't notice any jerkiness to speak of.
Maybe my eyes are just older.

Agree with you

My unit:
@60 - jagged scrolling, not good at all.
@90 - ultra smooth, it's like a different device.

Hands down the best Android phone out there for smoothness, feeling of true power on a mobile device. 120Hz cannot be beat and hasn't in any smart phone out there. Good work Razer.
If any other brand actually has a 'display locks to display actual framerate' vs 'display spits out X number of frames per sec regardless of what the actual video output is; duplicate frames or dropped frames' I'm unaware. On a phone package I don't think it's been expanded upon as an actual area of improvement, but Razer did it. And it's pretty dam awesome.
Even fewer-color games with combic book style animations have great visuals because you can tell you're not seeing any gpu to display frame mismatching.
Nothing compares to the smoothness this display offers at the moment short of gaming PC monitors. Scrolling through websites or apps is butter smooth.
Got it right, finally

I concur, currently no phone in my 1st hand experience compares to the Razer panel!
The best.
I use it with 120hz and 1440p and never had such a smooth device. Not compareable with other Android devices or with an iOS device.
I can still read text while scrolling. I have never been able to do that (maybe on my PC).
Super smooth. Nothing else compares.

Overall it feels good, just rarely I get these little stutters. Can't recall in what app atm.
System-wise it's perfect, I'd say 4/5 atm, will try to see when exactly and in what apps I get this stutter.
I am coming from Oneplus5 and it's not as smooth, menu opening and closing is bit slow, scrolling through web pages is not smooth and occasional lag occurred, Huawei launcher is a joke, hardly any people will prefer to use, I have to use developer option and set animation to 0.5x from 1.x to get fast menu speed. also, 960 frame per second video is a joke and its limited to few seconds, it seems like to complete with Sony and Samsung the feature been added without proper implementation, front camera has strange waved going across when trying to take the shot TV and monitor etc.
I've had my P20 for 5 days and find WEB scrolling to be pretty good, however screen swipe transitions can feel a little jerky compared to the
iPhone 6S (the phone I had before this). But all in all the P20 is good, fast and I have had no problems.

I'm using AdGuard to stop most of the back ground advertising to load.
Cures the stutters in web page loading and scrolling.

Yeh, seen that before on other phones. Something to do with frequency/refresh of TV screens.
I got my P20 Pro 4 days ago, and to me it's been a frustrating experience due to scrolling lag. The overall experience when I scroll in the Facebook app, Instagram or webpages using Chrome is really laggy and disappointing. I came from a OnePlus 5T without and lag problems at all. So hoping for a quick fix or I move to another phone.
Updated huawei P20
I can confirm there are occasional stutter while navigating through apps and webpages (AdGuard is installed).
I have not experienced any of these stutters. Scrolling is smooth AF.
I have some problems in Tapatalk and Google photos, there is scrolling not smooth. Haven't noticed it somewhere else, I use Samsung browser and browsing scrolling is fine. Same in settings and between screens it works flawless

My one disappointment with this tablet is that it still has uneven(jello)scrolling in prortrait mode, but I just tested a new Ipad 11 pro as well and they have it too(tho not as bad).

I think all devices seem to have it to some extent , especially tablets, either in portrait of landscape. Surprised iPad pro had it, thought the fast refresh rate might make it better
yes it's crappy video chips, they render one direction natively and are slower than death rendering the other direction.
One thing injust realized is that the jello scroll is all but gone if you use samsung internet. Compared with chrome its night and day

I can see it on anything if I scroll and look out for it
yes I agree but it is significantly reduced in the samsung browser vs anything from google.

I've read that this is the same hardware as an experia 1 but with a lower res screen, so this should be the perfect compromise.
I honestly don't care for 4k. Although it would be nice for once to actually answer yes to "It plays 4k but do you have a 4k screen?"
The scrolling is just fine. On web pages scrolling stops because you need to load the next load of pages. But the scrolling is in no way choppy.
I'm on 50% from a full charge at mid day. I've watched some youtube and made a call and listened to some music. I'm still looking at ways to reduce the battery consumpsion. Probably switch to 3G and 2.4gzh wifi. Which for me is more than enough.
I don't use gigs of data when I'm out as I have wifi access everywhere.
See if this phone lasts as long as old faithful (Xperia Z5 Comapct) I guess time will tell.

Best i have ever felt the scrolling is so smooth you will never want to switch to other phone believe me the experience is top notch you will never want to trade your phone just for this one feature every Device you use here after will feel slow cuz of this.
The only thing you'll find is if the brightness drops below 40% , then 144 mode turns off automatically.
I haven't found a way to force it yet.
Really smooth. Found it a relief from how slow my Blackberry Priv has become.
Being a past Rog Phone 1 user, the jump to 120Hz is abysmal. Really smooth sensation.
Although, the difference between 120Hz and 144Hz is very faint, it can be perceived over time. Scrolling specifically, either refresh rate is an eye candy, really great !
Can anyone comment on the claimed 25ms touch latency? All my previously owned Android phones/tablets had horrendous touch response.
OMG!!
This thing is smooth like 'budder'!!
Running at 120hz usually as can't tell much diff between that and 144hz.
