Standby drain - Sony Xperia 5 Real Life Review

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Sony Xperia 5's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.

Always On Display Battery Consumption
In about 9 hours (during a night) the Always On Display has consumed about 12% of my battery ... I ve just received my Xperia 5 and I thought I would share as I havent seen that "measurement" before ...
... my LG V20 with it's small IPS second display only consumes a couple of percents during a night ...
... maybe somebody has a tip so that the AOD would consume a little less ??
(anyway I guess 12% is acceptable as I won't always use AOD with the phone in my pocket)
(but there is still 6% of battery drain during the night besides AOD and whatsapp, which is quite a lot when comparing to my LG V20 ... any idea how I can minimize that ??)

PS : this was with Android 11, sony build 55.2.A.2.66
I have updated to 52.2.A.4.47 and also had a 19% battery drain during the night, with 13% from the AOD ...

Battery Drain Without AOD (phone/screen physically down instead of up)
Measurement during a night (8 hours) : 8% battery drain, including 3% from the AOD & 1% from whatsapp

I actually got 9h 40m on 2% i was waiting to get 9h 45m before i took another screenshot just missed out by 5 minutes either way im happy to lose 1% for almost every 5h.
I fully charged the phone before I went to sleep unplug it and when i woke up i found i only lost 2%
using XXKF2 VillianROM 1.4
quick question, is that screen cap from the regular sgs2 or from a battery app?
just normal regular sgs2 screen cap no battery apps used.
for me with VillaimROM 1.4
Is there an app that compares actual battery usage as mA hours or whatever the relevant unit of measurement is?
These graphs are interesting but we can't see the actual battery usage as the % is misleading.
Terrible battery with VillainROM 1.4
Hey,
Here are my stats. I'm not blaming VR 1.4; I'm just posting my stats. It could be a problem with my phone, I dunno. Anyway, here they are:
Battery Life: 16 hours 1 minute 28 seconds
Screen on: 57 minutes 3 seconds!!!

Does S8 have bad battery or what?

My phone when I leave it alone it consumes about 3% an hour with everything off like (Bluetooth, AOD, NFC, Mobile data, and sync) only my WiFi is on.
Is it normal or what?
My Huawei P9 was much better.
P.S: my S8 is Snapdragon variant

this photo describes my battery life
Bout the same as what I have, I've noticed if i customize the "mid" power thing on the battery choices and just turn brightness to 5% and allow the notfications I get a lot better life and dont really notice it slowing down any with the cpu limiter. Its an option if you're stuck with the phone.. I'm waiting for Pixel XL 2 to come out then i'm goin back.
Get the Galaxy S8 Plus Battery Case, Wuloo Charger Case 5500 mAh Extended Backup Battery Juice Pack Rechargeable Charging Case Power Bank Cover for Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus 6.2 inch. It's the best in class, by far.

Doesn't sound normal. I have AOD on, WQHD+, 50% brightness, on WiFi most of the day, and I can get 5-6 hours of SOT (15-16 hour day). When I leave it alone it drains 1% per couple hours (2-3 hours maybe).
I do have Package Disabler installed and disabled the stuff I don't use. I also have several apps set to always be sleeping since I don't need them to be running in the background. It's found under Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery > scroll to the bottom > Always Sleeping Apps
I have the Canadian Snapdragon version.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Moto Z3 Play before depleting the battery.

A lot of screen time . When the battery pack goes to zero. I have a lot of battery that goes for ever.
7 hours SoT without battery mod is a really good result i think.

I haven't had a chance to test it without the battery mod attached. It's just soo easy to leave it attached, and the battery pretty much lasts me a full day and when I get home I'm at about 40% on the battery mod, but 80% on the phone, so I can see myself getting about 2 days of battery if I were to run them both to empty.
One thing I do wish though, is that there was a way to set the settings to only allow the phone battery to charge to 80% when on charger. (Hell, would be great to also only let the battery mod charge to 80% as well as this would make for the longest lifespan for both)
Happy camper. I didn't use a Power Pack, and Havoc is installed.
How does havoc work for you? Any deal breaking bugs?

Just see an interesting video. That's the situation I always meet.

My SOT for Honor 8x
Got this gem last week. Here's a screenshot from GSAM Battery Monitor. I enabled Power Saving Mode and Smart Screen Resolution in EMUI with automatic screen brightness. Mostly used it for social media, web browsing, email and video playback. It's definitely a winner in terms of battery life considering the mammoth screen.
easily 7+ hours SOT on any days since last 2 weeks.
easily getting 9 hours of screen on time. I am not heavy gamer but watch videos and play game occasionally.
I'm pulling at least 7-8 hours of screen on time. Really impressive for a phone like this.

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Moto G8 Plus can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.

10% in 10 minutes, +/- 1h 1/2 for full charge. Much much better then what i am used to with my previous 3500 + mah phones.
Mine has several customizations, not yet complete, but my result may be different from most users ...
Full charge time with cell on (1% to 100%): 47min
Full charge time with cell off [system off] (0% to 100%): 32min
Discharge time of 1% with cell phone on, battery saving active and little user interaction: 7 HOURS !!!! (Screenshot below)

Observations: I customize, manage and optimize ALL MY APPLIANCE so my results imply almost its total power if related to the battery.
It was my best test and best performance in addition to the lowest consumption among all the intermediate devices I tested.
I didn't use custom roms, kernels so the result could be even greater.
I do not recommend buying the Moto G8 Power, I see no need for it unless you are a person who travels constantly, but a person like that would probably not look for an intermediate phone like this...
