device incompatible trying to register mario kart - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Hi, I am using original stock oreo 8.0 rooted. H990DS. I can't register Mario Kart on playstore as it says the device is incompatible.
How many of you are experiencing the same problem as mine?
I also cannot install Pokemon Master. After installing it, it just keep closing by itself.
So please let me know if any of you are experiencing the same problem as mine? Thanks

If it says it's incompatible, you should take it literally — incompatible. Maybe developers will widen list of supported phones/hardware after game release. Also, pre-registering for this game won't give you anything except notification at game launch. I suggest to just download Mario Kart from free sources like APKpure, for example.

That's weird as on MY H910(using H915 Stock Firmware) I was able to register for it with no problems whatsoever.

Did you install the new adreno driver? I was just wondering if that's the cause. Cause I think our phone is more than capable to run this game as my older LG phone can register just fine...

I don't care about the game but I tried out of curiosity and it let me register successfully on my rooted stock H918 running oreo

I downloaded pokemon masters and it plays good on my v20

LG v20
Does it run a 64 bit OS? Just curious

3D games slow on LG Optimus L7 II

I was trying to play Ravensword Shadowlands and Soulcraft on this device, but they are running slow, constant lag. But a puzzle game named The Room ran very well.
However the first 2 games run well on an older device, Sony Walkman NWZ-Z1060, and it has lower specs than the LG!
I already tried erasing cache and "freeing" some RAM via a default widget by default included in the phone.
Can you help me? Thanks.
I got an lg l7 and I had this problem when I first got it but all it needed was an update..Well I dont know if L7 II has the same firmware with mine but check if there is any available update...you re using stock rom right?
Of course, there's still not even CWM for this one yet.
A firmware update, you say?

I mean an official LG update...sorry if you understood something else with firmware When i first got it, it was running android 4.0.3 if im not wrong and I updated it to 4.1.2 which included an adreno update ( i think if you search xda you'll find it ) which really helped a lot with the games and videos..
I already have Jelly Bean on this device, and if you meant I looked for official updates via Settings, About Phone, Software Update, it said no updates available.
Thanks for your attention, but I think I'd need someone with the same device. Anyone else?

Reviving an old Nexus 7 2012 (Grouper)

Hello all!
I have been using my Nexus 7 (2012 Grouper) almost consistently ever since I bought it in early 2014. As with other users, I tried updating to Lollipop and Marshmallow, found them unusable slow, and rolled back to 4.4.4. I've been using 4.4.4 ever since but now with the core Google apps and play services getting heavier even 4.4.4 is becoming sluggish. I'm considering switching to a custom ROM such as Cyanogenmod, but to be honest I'm a little overwhelmed by all the content here on the XDA forums. Further complicating matters is the fact that apparently Cyanogenmod is no more - all links to Wiki and files are all dead.
So I guess my question is, whats a good, stable, light ROM available today that can will work for the Nexus7? I;m really only interested in using Chrome, and PDF readers on WiFi - I would not really care for NFC or even the camera.
Second, I have used ADB to lock / unlock bootloader and flash recovery images (from Google) before. What would be a good starting point to start reading about how to install TWRP (which most custom ROMs seem to require), enabling root, etc?
I recommend LineageOS 14.1 by @aaopt. Runs really smooth without gapps. I use yalp store to download the few apps I want on it.

Thanks @Charles IV! Especially for Yalp Store. I was concerned that the new Google Play Services would grind any OS into the ground.
Unfortunately I'm a noob at flashing custom ROMS. What is a good place to start reading about the process? I'm currently looking at the instructions for CyanogenMod but a lot of the links are either broken or incomplete now.

look at the lineage wiki for any device, they are mostly the same, but sometimes different, so look at a nexus devices guide.
If you want ota updates as well, I've got a server running at download.charles-iv.uk, but beware that this is run from my pc so there might be a bit of downtime.
If you're not bothered, head over here once you're set up with twrp and all. Just beware @aaopt probably has real life stuff so updates won't be regular.
I put Unofficial Slimkat 9.2 on my son's grouper and he loves it. I has gapps included. Great for minecraft I'm told
I have nAOSP 7.1.1 on mine. If you want Play Services without lag, just download and flash the OpenGapps Pico zip onto your device, like I did. Still lags a little bit, but not as bad as Lollipop.

Bypass Android 10 Go edition feature limitations?

I recently bought 2 of the new 2nd gen 7" Onn tablets with Android 10 Go Edition for my young kids. I have been able to root them with help from the wonderful people here.
Has anyone run into problems with the limitations of Android Go? Mainly it has disabled the "Draw over other Apps" permission/feature. This is mainly necessary for the childproof app locking protections I want to install.
As a work around I've have to get an old apk from a compatible app that doesn't request that permission, and this has worked so far. But I have other apps I'd like to use that don't have old apk's that work.
I assume once we finally get a full copy of Android running on one of these we won't get that feature. Just curious if anyone has another work around?
If you have them rooted, have you looked for a magisk module that might allow it? I am playing with flashing an Android 10 GSI right now. If I can get it running right I will post in the other thread I started

Only an ancient version of youtube app (14.31.50 from 2019) available from the play store

Hi,
I have installed the official lineageos-18.1 and opengapps 11 on my S5 (G900F). For some strange reason, I can only install an old version of the youtube app from the play store (14.31.50 from 2019), which only works once before asking to be updated. Functionality can be restored by clearing data but this is not sustainable. Has anybody seen this and can this problem be fixed? Thanks!
It's only very recently that this version of YouTube has stopped working. I think the Play Store just doesn't serve newer versions to the S5, but you can probably sideload newer versions.
I use YouTube Vanced, the current version of which works fine on the S5, but the current versions of that are broken with Chromecast. Apart from that, it works fine for playing videos.
Around the same time as your post, someone on Reddit encountered the same issue on a Note 3. They resolved it by installing an APK - presumably from one of those mirror sites?
And finally, here's an issue on the LineageOS issue tracker which may be worth a read: YouTube app is not getting update.
Thanks for the link to the bug. I did try sideloading the apk and it did work, but it is not really sustainable in the long run. I will keep looking.
Any news on this? The same thing happens to me on LOS 18.1 and an Galaxy S4 LTE (GT-I9506).
Fixed by installing a newer version off of apkmirror.com, not really a good (=permanent) fix though.
