How can I get magisk root without twrp - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

I wanted to first install twrp on my global mi 9t but now that there is no good version to avoid the device from being bricked so I was thinking of installing magisk without twrp but I don't know from where to get the boot.img for my global ROM
Any help would be appreciated.

Any help with that

Rooting your phone whit magisk without twrp isn't possible I think. But you can take this twrp https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/development/unoffocial-3-1-1-2-fixed-4pda-t3952672 you just need to unlock your bootloader and put it in fastboot and run the tool and nothing can happen did the same to my mi 9t.

How to Root A2017G oreo?

Hi
How can i Root the A2017G oreo a2017gv1.3.0b02 ?
when i install TWRP the phone will formatted?
i have unlock the bootloader.
Just install Magisk 16.7 (even though I hate suggesting to use that software). Do not try to use 17.x or higher until you have followed the steps in this topic:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/kernel-magisk-17-stock-roms-t3856809
Unfortunately, the 2 other major root solutions out there, SuperSU and Phh's Superuser, don't appear to work with stock Oreo on the Axon 7. I tried both and got bootloops.
Edit: Sorry about that link, it seems to require B20 Oreo, which is for the A2017U. But you have B02 Oreo for the A2017G. The solution in that thread may or may not work for you, I would post there first to ask. Or just try it and see.

that is not too right... If you have a G, you need to roll back to Marshmallow (B10 or B11) and install a SIGNED TWRP (of which there's only one, Tenfar's). [DO NOT BACKUP ANYTHING IN THIS TWRP]
Then from there install the aboot and fbop files present in Controllerboy's unlock guide to get fastboot (via adb commands). then enter fastboot and issue the unlock command
After that, install any other TWRP, the official one from twrp.me might be better for stock ROMs
Based on previous conversation, Tenfar's TWRP is recommended. Can somebody provide me with the TWRP? Cannot find it anywhere due to dead link.

Root without twrp

Hi,
I saw on the forum that it is possible to root oneplus 6t without twrp recovery. Using magisk manager and a custom patched boot image.
But all i found deal with 9.0.7 OOS.
Is it possible to do the same with 9.0.12 ?
If yes, can someone please explain me how to do so ?

Yes here is all information and patched boot file you need in this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/patched-boot-images-oos-0-9-12-beta-5-t3905714
I used this method for a while but eventually installed twrp after it became possible to easily do through magisk.

Connect to computer or use an usb otg and flash a Recovery ROM.
Hi,
with Mi Tool V2. Download tool, phone in the fastboot mode, then Mi Tool V2 detects the phone and offers you the right Rome for flashing. Then follow the instructions in the tool

Hey Schnedi
Do you mean stock rom that can be installed through twrp recovery? Where can I download a "Recovery" rom?
I was trying to update MIUI version and something went wrong and when I restored my backup I can boot into MIUIU but everything isnt working (camera, wifi, calling, sensors etc)
thanks in advance

Yes, usually, Xiaomi releases Fastboot Rom, Recovery Rom and OTA update.
Here you can find them: https://mifirm.net/model/davinci.ttt (the ones called "zip firmware").

Mi flash will not continue flashing if the code name of the device is different from the fastboot ROM's, but it is possible to change the code name in flash_all.bat to make it continue flashing.

I have not done anything like that, but the phone can get bricked easily. I think it's better not to do it.
@druidvn I'm just curious, why do you want to use the China ROM?
I have used two Redmi phones that were bought in China. Outside of China, the China ROM is very difficult to use, because it is full of apps that are only designed for using in China. So I had to install the Xiaomi.eu custom ROM or install the global MIUI ROM on those phones.
Don't try. I have tired to flash the POCO m3 rom for Redmi Note 4G using this twrp. Unfortunately my Redmi Note 9 4G could not enter the fastboot or recovery and bricked. Finally I went to the maintenance service center to flash using Qualcomm 9008.

You can not flash Poco m3 rom (or any other roms) in any other different model . But Poco m3 rom works perfect in Poco m3 phones.

Yes, it is a lesson for me.
As before I want to root my phone (redmi Note 9 4G) and found that the twrp recovery for POCO M3 could support my phone. Then I use this twrp recovery to flash the magisk.zip, however the root is not perfect and the system paritition still remains locked.
Do you konow how to perfectly root the phone?

I have used magisk.zip to patch it and could get the root, however it is imperfect. If I want to remove some apps from the system partition, the operation will fail.

System apps can also be uninstalled from the current user using adb commands or XiaomiADBFastbootTools.
If you just do not want to have those system apps, this is also a good way to do it.
