How to bypass gesture screen lock on Samsung Galaxy S10+ without losing data - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I have Samsung Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975F/DS) in front of me. Device has pattern (gesture) screen lock (3x3) enabled. Phone's owner forgot his gesture. How to bypass this lock without losing data (no factory settings reset option).
What I have tried:
- connect phone over USB trying ADB. Since there is no USB debugging enabled ADB is deaf/blind. I cannot access files in /data/system to delete gesture.key file
- I have tried to connect SD card and install Aroma File Manager https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108 but I was not able to mount a card. My tip is, that phone will not recognize new card when such card is inserted in locked regime.
- I have tried "adb sideload aroma-file-manager.zip" but it fails on "signatures". My tip is that you can manually update android only with files signed by manufacturer.
- "dr.fone - Unlock" has no support for Samsung Galaxy S10+
Limitations:
- I'm not able to mount new SD card
- ADB can do only "adb sideload ..."
- USB debugging is disabled
What else to try?
Can I somehow access phone system files using USB?

Easy way is use the Samsung findmymobile site to unlock. If you know the Samsung Account credentials.

No, owner is not alive (work accident). Widow wants to unlock the phone.

This was not so bad advice. I will call on Monday to Samsung and ask them if phone with that IMEI has any Samsung Account.
But still, any other idea?

If he had a PC, it can have the Samsung Account already logged or with login and password saved on Chrome password manager for example.

If the widow has access to his email on a shared laptop she might be bale to recover or reset the Samsung credentials.

Great! Just called her, she has access to husband's gmail. I will try this option and then inform if it helped.

Google find my phone was not working. Samsung findmymobile.samsung.com worked. I unlocked phone using service from manufacturer. Password to the account was as same as gmail password I recovered from owner's laptop (Chrome password manager).
Thank you @orlandson and @daddymikey1975 - you have been helpful.

Guys i know this is not the correct place but someone can please tell me "what to do if i have lost my password" ??
I am using Windows 7
Laptop of Sony Vaio
Please someone help
I know that this could possibly be used malicously but if you can access another computer, download OphCrack and burn it to a CD or write it to a USB drive and you can use that to recover your password. I've used it multiple times on Windows Installations for friends who forgot their passwords on their home computers, it does work. xD

simply download the ISO, burn it to disc and then boot it, it will have the utility for recovering the password. Three are hundreds of tutorials on how to recover your password with OphCrack

I use a program called Kon-Boot, its good enough for most tasks, it wont help if your part of a domain, it also wont help if you have encrypted any drives or folders.
it wont tell you the password
so how does it work?
well, the short answer is that it hijacks the boot sequence and bypasses the password check, you just click on the user and ignore the password, once your in you can change your password or a safer option is to add another admin account, then log in to that and change your password. The problem is if you encrypted anything, then im afraid to say your ****ed!
you see the encryption key is part made up by your actual password, so by using my method to change the password, what you will end up with is data still encrypted on your old password.
the ethical uses of this are limited, but there are uses which is why im happy to share it, just don't **** around if for any reason some data is encrypted and the password is likely to "turn up" again because once you've opened this bag of worms you cant go back so essentially the data will "vanish"

I forgot the pattern of my lockscreen, tried too many times and cannot unlock with google account.
Unfortunately wifi, data and developer mode is turned off.
Was able to locate and extract gesture.key but how can I remove it from data.ext4?
SD-ROM is containing all my phone numbers, messeges etc.
Please help, thank you in advance.

How have you found and extracted gesture.key?
To remove something from data.ext4 you could mount the file in Ubuntu/Linux which will grant you access to the files.
Code:
[CENTER]sudo mount -o loop data.ext4 ~/Desktop/data
then edit it and unmount it
umount data.ext4[/CENTER]

Had a quick look and if you aren't given the option to reset it, after ~5 failed attempts you could try downloading lock screen bypass from the market to see if that works, I'll attach a copy of the apk if you cant get it.
Just tried it and its 5 failed attempts for me, then the offer to reset.
unfortunately this did not work for me. think it is locked at a different point.
I will give the sql method a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485988
Anyway I hit the thanks button
problem solved:
after trying sql method and restart it was showing missed calls, could enable data connection and unlock it with my googlemail account.

I'm glad that you could solve it and unlock your phone, but I am curious, why it didn't let you unlock using Gmail without data.
Sometimes, I unlock the phone using gmail and pass EVEN with airplane mode on and no WiFi. Isn't it supposed to check with your already registered gmail account? thus no need for an internet connection?
Anywa, enjoy your phone.

Glad you got round it, I didn't mention anything adb wise as I though you said debugging was turned of, at least you've learned something. And being able to edit the data.ext4 on a desktop has it's benefits.

Yes Marvlesz, was also strange to me. Tried the same with my ICS Pad without any connection while I read somewhere that even wifi should not work only when the device is connected to USB!? Maybe it depends on the version? My phone was on ICS 4.0.3 (IceCreamTosti_v0.10_AOKP_M4) with Tyatung Kernel 2.6.32.
Now after all my installation got broke but I can access my stuff, finally save it and reinstall newer version while I have a good reason now to do that

Yes HypoTurtle, debugging was off and I did´nt use adb. With your kind help I mounted data.ext4 and changed settings.db in linux.

[Q] [SOLVED] Forgot my pattern & Email (Password still in mind)

Hallo,
I am using CM7 on my little Samsung Galaxy Y, but forgot the pattern I set.
I tried a lot, and after that, I remembered it again, but it is not useful anymore, it is asking me for my Gmail account, I KNOW the password, but can't remember the email anymore.
How can I get my SMSs (I only need them for very important number there).
Thank you.
Do you have usb debugging on you device? If yes, download android sdk and run those commands:
adb -d shell
sqlite3 data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
update system set value=0 where name=’lock_pattern_autolock’;
.exit
exit
adb reboot
Click to collapse
or
adb shell rm /data/system/gesture.key
exit
adb reboot

If you dont have, i think a factory reset is needed :/

This might be silly but it might work too (I have not tried but heard that it works) Insert sim card in your Galaxy Y, Dial your number from any where else (Frens cellphones you might pay him for that) Accept the call Don't end call rather press the button one at middle (it minimize your calling process) and navigate to Message and note that number. In that process try this too If play store can be started while minimized calling download any lock-screen application apply that And you should not flash it.
If above didnt work few suggestions Just copy the clockwork mode to SD card (Send it via SD CARD) Now backup the OS and flash it to default rom if you want to use it now for calling purpose or using it and you can revert it's backup and try entering password again in future.
If it really worked Please look at thanks button below

This is working. Easy oem unlock on samsung
When the binary is blocked by the FRP you must install the factory firmware, then enter the recovery and do a factory reset since the FRP prevents external access to the system and data as prevention
You will be prompted for the email and password of the previously used account
When activating the oem unlock you can install Twrp, kernel or custom rom without the activation of FRP security that is activated when you establish a security pattern in the device

I found a way to remove FRP on Samsung J5(6) SM-J510FN model, Android 6.0.1 without flashing the phone, or using Odin, RealTerm or other SW tools, it might work on other samsung devices running Marshmallow 6.0.1 too.
As a new user, I am not able to enter any URLs for the files. do a search for the following APKs instead: Android 6GAM.apk and FRP_REMOVE.apk
Download the above APKs on your comuter, copy them to microSD and insert it in the phone.
Turn on the phone, connect to wi-fi, once you get to the screen when you need to enter your email, press on "mike" icon and choose Settings>>Text Shortcuts>>Add>> and type random text, select it all, then long tap and choose "Assist".
Tap on "No, Thanks" and Type "Galaxy Apps". Galaxy App will come up, tap on it and sign in when launched.
Install ES File Explorer, when launched, go to "sdcard" dropdown>>select the microSD card with the apk files. Install Android 6GAM.apk first, once complete, tap on "Done", install FRP_REMOVE.apk, once done, tap on "Open". This will launch Google Account Manager.
If you are not familiar what to do here, then do the following:
- Look for “Type Email and Password”>>Tap to launch it>>Tap on Try
- Tap on the three dots and choose “Browser sign-in”>>OK
- Sign in with your google account details and wait until you get back to “Google Account Manager”
- Tap on the back button until you get back to the phone setup wizard, you can go as back as to wi-fi settings.
- You can now follow the setup wizard, it will tell you that a new account has been created.
- Once you can access settings on the phone, you can do another factory reset, this tyme without FRP.
Hope this helps
Good luck!

Got two old Samsung J5(6) from work. We don't know de original name anymore. The one we mostly use don't work.
Is there a option the get them to work again without paying someone for a hack?
I know how to flash a rom, but I read that doesn't work anymore? (I did this things on the galaxy 1 and 2... so that old...)
I tried some tutorials on the web, but they are old and don't work anymore.
Anyone a new howto that does work?

how to open jpeg.dm files?

Anyone ever resolve this?
A .dm file is encrypted using LG's file manager, you'd need to know the password to decrypt the files. It's part of the Gallery tool as pictured.
To see those images, you need the password or the pattern lock set when the files were originally locked. As noted on the first pic the option is there to Lock new files or view ones that are already locked, but without that password or that pattern lock, forget it, you'll pretty much never get them decrypted.

What if I remove the files factory reset the phone and move the files back in... Will that work?
In my experience, when I reset a device and then went to unlock the files, it asked me to confirm the password (didn't use the pattern lock) and then it asked me which Google account was used at the time the images were locked with that password (since I have 3 accounts in use on my devices at any given time). The Google account used to lock the files must be in use on the device to unlock them.
After I confirmed the password and chose the proper Google account, the files were unlocked for viewing and then I just unlocked them completely to copy them off the device for use elsewhere.
Hope this helps...
