Awesome phone. No complaints, except that the software needs to be polished. Things I've noticed in the UX: In the contacts, the display of organization along with job title is confusing. Not separated by any symbols, the look is very unprofessional. The Settings can be better organized and the notification panel can be compacted. Not more than 2-3 notifications can be viewed in the first screen which is a pain with such a large display panel.

I haven't bought this phone yet but am thinking about it, and the primary factor would be "aftermarket" support so to speak. I tend to keep my devices for at lest 3 years. Based on what I've seen on the other Sony phones with weak support, I hope Project Treble is enough to entice devs.
Sony is doing good. this is first device to come with oreo out of the box after nexus and pixel lineup.

this device launched on may, 2019.. but right now on january, 2020 there's still not yet developer are move here.. still hard to find stable or official custom recovery here. soo sad whatever this incredible build quality device evolve with mid range snapdragon & sony imx 586 but still null on custom rom :crying:

3 months on we have 3 custom kernels : 2 for Los/aosp & one for miui.
Hopefully after Android 10 kernel sources are released we see renewed interest in kernel/rom development.
That being said the stock kernel is perfectly stable & extremely balanced between performance & efficiency.

There are screen burn kinda issues after the lastest update . From april. 11_23...
my only hope is for the gcam be ported asap for realme 6, but currently there is no one making work for this device and it's worrying. Reason is, the cameras in this device ain't that great.
I hope we can see some progressions made for this device.

I know this phone is new, but the lack of interest of the community to Root, Rom and develop this phone disappoints me. This seems to me to be a good phone.
I suppose it'll depend on volume sold ultimately. If a lot, then I'm sure devs will adopt it- if it's a fizzle, hard to say if anybody would be interested in a small user base. Kind of a crap shoot with OP Nord and other midrangers on the way. I think it has a shot at a good volume of sales.
