My power button stopped working to wake up the switch, I can hold it to shutdown but not to wake the device or shut off the screen. The issue just popped up few days ago. I have my switch android rooted. I have tried the reinstall but it did not work.
any ideas?

Enable auto brightness and test the power button?

AutoRCM. Do what you usually do to push your payload of choice.

Sorry I think i wasnt clear, I can do everything and I am on Auto Rcm, the problem is once booted into android I am not able to use the power button to wake the device if the screen turns off. If I hold down power button it shuts down the device. Im not sure why the power button isnt registering properly on android it works fine on the switch os. I have tried modifing the settings to no avail

You can not wake the device if the screen goes off on its own because it goes into deep sleep and that is broken on the current android build.

hmm but pressing the power button should turn off the screen?...because it doesnt do that for me anymore..it used to before. Reinstalling did not fix it. I do have have Su lineage OS flashed for root.

My power button also began behaving oddly at random. Enabling auto brightness helps. If I disable auto brightness my power button will stop taking commands unless held. Flashing light into or blocking the front sensor will wake the screen instead.

You are right thats such a weird bug. Enabling the auto brightness did help for me too. Thanks!

Hi .. I have the same problem with the power button not working, it turns out that it is because AutoRCM is ON in Hekate. When booting HOS or Atmos (emuMMC or SysNand), then when low bat or Power turn off the Nintendo Switch, it causes the Power button to be problematic when then boot LineageOS Android.
to fix it, go back to Atmos (EmuMMC or SysNand), go to photo (Homebrew), select Boot to Payload (back to Hekate). then boot the LineageOS Android, the Power button will work again ..

How swithc OFF my XDA mini?

Dear friend,
how do I do to put OFF completely my magician XDAmini?
Best regards
Daniele
Take the battery out?
And pushing the power button?
The power button can only put the phone is Standby. In PDA phones there is no such thing as OFF. The RAM needs power all the time. Sliding the battery cover in and out will also power off the device. Don't leave that long though, otherwise you risk losing all the information.
Hello,
I'm new so plz be patient. Ok, pressing the power button only allows us to set the device in standby mode. How do I turn off the phone (gsm) mode then? The idea is just that I want to figure out a way to reduce the power consumption as much as possible.
Thx for all coming answers..
To turn the phone itself off click on the signal strength indicator then click on 'Turn on flight mode'
This turns off the phone part of the device but leaves the pda side still functional

Alrite. But is there a way to accomplish that task with hardware buttons? Guess not, ey?
Just don't wanna pull out my stylus that often.. *g*
Press and hold the power button for several seconds. this will actually turn the device OFF.
Do the same to turn it back on.

This is not true. When you do that, the background light will be off, but the phone is still working.

You could install PocketZenPhone from here: http://zendrui.free.fr/ and then, as long as your fingers are not too fat, you can press an icon on the today screen. 8)
Cool, thx for this hint.

I don't think that the GPRS is using that much power, but to turn it off, hold the RED Phone button down for several seconds (I never timed it, I just wait for the "GPRS Connected" icon to disappear.
Your best bet for power consumption is to lower the screen brightness to it's lowest level, and set the screen backlight to go off at 30 seconds, and lastly to set the device to power down at 1 minute of inactivity.
copy this app to your magician, in a folder you want. Bind it to a hard button or make a shortcut on your Todayscreen with SPB Pocket PLus or another program.
PocketZenPhone (the tray version of it) can also be used to set the profiles via hardware buttons. This can be done with making shortcuts to the .exe with setting the specific profile. I'm using this together with MortButtons to switch between my profiles of PocketZenPhone.

Yzord; no it really does work (did you try it ?)
Yes, pressing the power button briefly just turns the screen off ; I think we all know that.
However holding the button down for several seconds will allow you to turn it off completely. = power off; no applications running; no phone or other network connections; zero power consumption, nada.
PH
the best way to stop using magician:
charge battery to 50%
do a backup
pull out battery
pack you magician
several years later
get it out
put in battery
do a restore
charge and use it
(maybe 5% drop one year, so can put aside ten years

It will still lose some power in keeping the RAM filled, if it loses all power (goes very slowly however), all your installed programs and data will be lost. It takes a long time, but it still uses power to keep the RAM chips powered and the clock correct. Furtheremore, with the Magician it keeps the phone and alarms awake, so you can receive calls. You have to turn on flight mode manually to turn the radio off. Also you have to turn off all alarms to prevent your device from waking up. Your method is more like the one used on the Wizard, where holding the power button for 5 seconds really turns everything off and when pressing and holding again makes the Wizard start up again (with boot screen and all).

Also thought of this when I first got my xda mini. Now, after some reading here in the forums, I just switched my xda mini to flight mode before I go to sleep. It turns off the phone. Hope this helps.

[Q] Kindle Fire wont turn on after flashing Energy ROM 3.15

The title says it all. I did a back up and flashed the rom. It worked well after the first boot but the Google apps was FC so I reboot to flash the gapps file. However, after shut down the kindle it just wont turn on. When I press the power button the green light appears for 3 seconds and it off again. What can I do ?
Edit: Now when I press the power button nothing happen :|
maybe charging it with the wall charger for some hours ...
Try holding down in the power button for like 20 seconds them turn on
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I had this issue and thought I toasted it, negative.
Check to see if screen is still lit, if so tap power, screen should turn off. Wait about a minute then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
By that time should still be off, then after you let it go tap the power and should boot right up.
Not sure whats causing this but a minor glitch in the matrix, no biggie. Still very much useable after install of gapps.

Thanks I was able to turn it back one after a few tries
It seems this rom doesn't actually shut down. When I select the shutdown option the back light remains on and I have to force it off with the 20 button press.

[Q] Any way to turn the screen on via the volume rocker?

So I think there might be something wrong with the power button, when it does work it has a 5 second lag between pressing it and when the lock screen pops up. However, there have been several times where I'm going to bring it out of sleep mode and it doesn't wake up - so I press and hold the power button for a few seconds and nothing. When I press it again it vibrates and boots up normally. So what I think is happening is I'm actually turning it off, thinking that it's having issues with the SOD, and then turning it back on again. But no matter how many times I just simply press the power button it still won't bring up the lock screen out of sleep. So is there some way I can turn it on via the volume rocker?
Thanks in advanced.

That is the sleep of death. No on the volume without special programming.
Well, the only thing that made me think it was otherwise was the battery stats - it shows that the tablet has been awake the whole time it's been in SOD...

That is what I have found, it is still running. That is why you have to monkey with the power button, the first long press shuts it off even tho it looks to be off. After it is shut down, then it will turn back on. Their are some ics roms that this is fixed in. I used to have the sod, but the rom I am using don't have that problem and I have had that problem with all roms, sept ics.

Power button

Hello,
I have a strange problem with my Nexus. My power button is acting strange. Long hold brings up power menu, but:
- short press does not turn screen off
- Smart cover also does not turn screen off
- double tap to status bar does not turn screen off
- 15 seconds of timeout also does not turn screen off.
What is happening? Thank you.
So your screen will not turn off at all besides powering off the device?

Thats right.
Well i don't think the power button itself is the problem since it works to power it off and on, and since the screen wont sleep by other methods either.
Did you flash a new ROM, kernel, or other mod before this happened?

screen wake test anyone?

Hello everyone here,
I just run into trouble - a power button on my Galaxy J5 failed. Few days ago home button failed too.
Device is still on and running, so I need a quick check for not locking myself out.
1) after phone was locked - can volume keys wake the screen? (so I can enter e.g. an unlock pattern)
2) does J5 require to press power or home button to turn it on (e.g. after power down)
3) does J5 require to press power or home button to wake screen after it is restarted?
also, if anyone would like to suggest...
4) how can I access restart menu? or just restart the device?
5) any other issues I can run into?
6) can the be a software issue?
7) can a non-affiliated repair shop get this easily fixed or would they probably make things worse?
any advice is welcome!
phone is not rooted. Lock screen security (pattern) is now deactivated.
Model SM-J510FN, J510FNXWUAQG1, Android 6.0.1,
thanks!
Plug in charging, if it wakes up its working!!
thanks for feedback!
yes, it is working I installed Gravity Screen app and it seems to be doing fine with turning screen on and off.
The only question left is what to expect if the battery should run off one day or I'll need to reboot the phone or take out the battery... I am afraid it expects pressing power button to start booting, but its not working... any ideas?

Yep.. Then you'll have to take it to the service centre, that's the only solution I can think of.. :silly:
today the power button misteriously started to act again. I'll stick to Gravity app for waking the screen and hope the button will work in rare cases when needed after powerdown....
thanks everyone for suggestions!
