How do you peeps like your RN7? Amazon says it's 8oz which doesn't make sense - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
I have the Mate 9 which doesn't seem to be getting any support so I might has well jump to a device that is getting updates and on PIE etc.. How is the camera, battery life(I get almost days ish). I'm thinking about the Moto G7 also. If you guys could buy any similar phone what else is good around this price?

I can't say much right now about my Note 7 since I have it only for 2 days (as of writing this) & wasn't able to deplete the battery yet. For a comparison to my Galaxy S5, it definitely runs A LOT smoother & faster, even on MIUI which, as we know, isn't the lightest. The camera definitely takes good pictures, but one thing that bugs me is no support for 4k video recording... Even my damn S5 has that & it's from 2014 I've bought my Note 7 in the 4/128 variant so I definitely have quite some room to spare on both fronts & it shows. Can keep more than 2 apps at a time suspended in RAM as opposed to my S5, where it wanted to kill itself when one app was bigger (like a game for example). I can't complain much about the Note 7, it's definitely a solid phone for the price (especially in the best variant), but one thing I kind of miss when compared to the S5 is the lack of an AMOLED screen. Yes, black colours look great, but they aren't as deep as on the other phone + you get that typical IPS silver glow on the screen, which is really noticable especially at night when looking at something with black backgrounds. To be honest, I would recommend the Note 7 over the phone you have, it will definitely make you happy (as it did for me, really love it) & you will also receive OS update for quite some time

If it's anything like or better then my note 5 then I will love it
I've only just ordered mine and it hasn't been delivered just yet but when it does get here I will let you know

Moto G7 is garbage compared to a Redmi Note 7.
Less battery, less perfomance, less camera.
The only things it has better are slightly better water resistance and band frequency support.
Now about the Redmi Note 7:
Camera is pretty good, i use stock camera to get daylight photos and Gcam for night shots because stock cam night mode is awful.
As for battery i get about 9-10hrs os SOT with a balanced use(1-2hrs of gaming and 4-5hrs of video streaming).

Yeha, I wanted to see how much SOT I can squeeze out after the very first full charge (had the phone for 4 days now) & I'm amazed. My previous phone was getting only 3,5h SOT consistently

In this price I think RN7 is the champ, my kenzo died the other day so I have to buy a new one, and I pick this one. I charge the phone once every four days but I'm not a heavy user. I don't use the camera so I can't give an opinion over it. Also it runs perfectly DS games, the only kind of gaming I did. Rom wise I'm over MIUI.eu and works pretty nice, no custom kernel or anything only magisk and a few modules. Overall is a very nice phone for that money.

I really like mine. Great battery, very good camera, all the speed I need since the only games I play are puzzle style. Screen is good too. Supports the LTE Bands that I need. All for a really low price.
The worst MIUI issues are solved by using a better launcher.
I liked it so much I bought one for my wife as well.

Thanks everyone. I made the mistake of buying my friends OnePlus 6t but I got a good price. The screen is always dimmer than my mate 9 and the headphone sound quality doesn't compare to my mate 9. Maybe I'll order the note 7 so I can compare all 3. I don't like that the oneplus doesn't have a headphone jack anymore. I wish I knew someone near me I could see their note 7.

The headphones audio quality of the Note 7 is not good at all, atleast with my Audio Technica M40x's. With my old Sony XB 450's, it's decent but not great

Such headphones are not meant for this phone. Try lower impedance ones and it should be fine!

I use iphone earbuds so those should be low impedance right?

Planning to upgrade to Note 4? Here's my experience after 3 weeks.

I've been user of the first generation of Galaxy Note franchise: the Galaxy Note GT-N7000, since 3 years. The phone that back in 2011 was ridiculously big and most of the people said that nobody would use a phone bigger than a 4.5 inch device. The phone that started a new era that now any brand has his own phablet (Xperia ZL, LG G3, HTC One Max, Nokia Lumia 1320 etc). After three years, I've decided to go for the next big phablet, the Note 4.
This is not a review. My english is not so good to elaborate a proper review of every feature of this phone. You can see amazing reviews at Engadget, Android Police, Youtube or even here in XDA)

If you thought that your N7000 was reeeeaally big, then get prepared for the Note 4. It's taller than his grandfather, but also is less wide so it's nice in hands.
The N7000 is 78,6 x 153,5 mm while the N910C is 82,95 x 146,85 mm. The weight is almost the same, just 4 grams less than the Note 1.
Build Quality:
I think this is the most important difference between both phones. We all know that Samsung ditched polycarbonate in favor to metal. The ORIGINAL (later I will explain why I call it original) Note 4 comes with a brand new metallic frame with chamfered edges and a soft matte strip with the same color of the phone (cold white, pearl black, pink). Personally I don't know why they're still using polished metal for phones, did they not learn the lesson with the iPod touch? The HTC One? The iPhone 4, 5, 5S? Two days after using my Note 4, I saw a lot of scratches on on them, and after a week, it started to oxydize due to hands sweat. I was so angry that I've took metal polisher and started to polish it. The scratches disappeared, but then I polished the matte white strip.. HOLY DIFFERENCE! The phone now have a glossy finish and, due to this, a better grip. Take a look:
Screen
I never saw a better screen than the one in my N7000, until now. The Note 4 comes with a incredibly sharp 2K Amoled screen clocked at 60Hz. It's fast and inmerssive, and the best? There's no input lag. View angles are nice in both phones, the colors are morea accurate, the brightness is nice at direct sunlight and in dark enviorments.
Battery and OS:
I never thought that a phone could run out of battery after 2 days of heavy use. AMAZING BATTERY USAGE. My Note 1 can't stay turned on more than 6 hours. Also, Ultra Power Saving mode does his job pretty well. About the OS, it comes with Kitkat 4.4.4. If you're using AryaMod in the GT-N7000 and switch to the Note 4, you will not notice too much difference. And that's due to Samsung's Touchwiz. Belive or not, Touchwiz is getting better. Almost lag free and very, VERY smooth than before. The only lag issue I found is trying to open the recent apps menu for first time, but that's something that Lollipop claims to fix so I'm not too worried.
So that's it. Belive me, the 700USD that this phone costs are totally worth. If you can afford it, go and get one. You will never regret. Thanks to everyone in this community, it's time to turn off my N7000, pull out the battery and save it in my desktop's drawer. Good luck!
Good luck with your new Phablet buddy.
Cheers!
No more good thing for N7000!To bed!!!
Thank you.
I am with a N7000 as well (bought at launch, and still in perfect condition!) but was thinking of upgrading to the Note4 because the Note1 is getting too slow even with custom roms.
As soon as the Note4 drops under 500€ I'll get one!
M also dying for note 4, but waiting for a good price drop. My note 1 also lags like hell even on custom roms.

Nice thread. Enjoy your phone
@galaxynote2 : could you please share the weather widget of your N7000 ?
Got it a few days ago. The upgrade from 1 to 4 was impressive, especially on the pen.
[email protected] BOC5 stock, for now.
I have the note 1 and I would like to buy the note 4 but I'd like to know if the 720p videos look pixelated in the note 4 because most of my music videos are in 720p and they look superb in the note 1, but the 480p videos look pixelated, i believe that because of the high resolution of the galaxy note 4 ( 1440 x 2560 pixels "2K") my 720p videos will look pixelated .
I upgraded from the Note 1 to Note 4 a few months back and yes it was quite stunning right from the beginning with that unlock animation which shows off the amazing screen. I knew I had made the right choice when I took my first photo outdoors and compared it with the Note 1; of course the latter was no match either in terms of the photo itself or the screen to watch it on. The Note 1 was amazing back in the day and we should be glad how much progress was made in just three years. I rather suspect that this will slow down and and I doubt the gap between the Note 7 and Note 4 will be nearly as large.
TouchWiz is crappy, you can not look [emoji16]

Design & Material
This is the most beauty touch screen phone Samsung ever release, the dual edge side make the whole phone one step ahead the premium elegance look than normal S6. This is also the most beauty touch screen phone I ever own. The material and craftsmanship is solid well build. Due to both side glass with sparkling surface, more clean wipe the surface is necessary to maintain it beauty.
Price
Frank speaking RM 3,099.00 is a bit too expensive, it is more reasonable price at RM 2,899.00 (inclusive GST). By the way I from Malaysia.
Performance
Everything is smooth and speedy, they is no place to complain on it performance, I am no regret and no miss selling off my previous phone Nexus 6 which the performance is less than what I expected. I don't blame Nexus 6 but instead Qualcomm Snapdragon, Qualcomm release junk processor after the last success S801.
Touchwiz UI
From already good in Note 4, now under S6/S6 Edge is step ahead greater, every part is so smooth with welcome fully customizable themes support. Thanks Samsung remove those unnecessary feature where not really useful. The only part Samsung need to take note is the first time opening emoticon at keyboard do take few seconds delay, others than that, I had no complain in any of it from performance to design. Thumbs up to Samsung on this new UI design.
Camera
If you zoom in, you will notice Samsung had change the algorithm on processing the photo, it is just too good to miss. I must said it is by far the best ever release mobile camera. One word "Outstanding".
Loud Speaker
With only single speaker, the output is unbelievable great, off course it won't better than my previous Nexus 6 dual speaker but I ain't miss it also.
Screen
The best screen I ever have! It is even better than Note 4. It just simply great with pure white and just nice vividness.
Reception and Call Quality
Finally Samsung solve the reception issue in Note 4, that is the reason I sold my Note 4 previously. Beside this, the call quality is the best I ever have.
Battery Life
After few days usage, I can only said S6 Edge battery life is not that great, it is similar poor as my previous Nexus 6, it confirm won't last a day for a high moderate user. I am so miss my Note 4 battery life.
Wireless Charging & Fast Charging
The wireless charging is real cool and easier to use, I never though it actually not so slow, just like an old time charging speed. Fast Charging is real fast! I mean real fast! Far ahead than Note 4 and Nexus 6. But! The whole phone is freaking HOT! during charging which already over comfortable level to even hold it, is this good? I really doubt on battery life cycle on any kind of fast charging implement.
Controversial Issue
Is the out of the box screen scratch issue real -YES! My first unit open is badly scratch out from the box, so I suggest everyone do proper check before leaving the shop.
Is the Dual Edge gimmicks - Basically not really for me, this dual edge is just for enhanced the beauty of the phone not for added tones of extra features. Come on! the edge is only slightly at side not like the Note edge which over wide for added unnecessary features. What the point using edge for functionally but not using the main real screen. I just don't get it. I only wish the edge is also light up for every incoming call even the main screen not put face down the table.
In overall, I give this phone 9.5 out of 10 scores.
Sample photos taken with Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Nice review. Like mine too but there is a slight pink tint on mine so the whites are not so white
Can you post some pics of a pure white background on your phone? Did you compare the screen to a normal s6? You'll find the edge has darker screen

Mine one no such issue and during comparing at shop, the S6 Edge screen is more vividness and life appealing to me, I don't find it darker than S6.

LG G4 UK review

I got the LG G4 trough the insiders campaign in UK
Actually I own a Nexus 5, while in the past I had an S2 and a Note 2.
Nexus 5 is a quite good phone but battery life also with custom kernel is limited to its the battery size. Moreover when I bought my Nexus 5 I was coming from a Note 2, so I started to miss a bigger screen and for sure a better camera that is the weaker point of Nexus 5.
Battery
Let’s start from what everyone take care and want to now when they have to buy a new smartphone: “The battery life”.
So, taking into account that the battery life of a smartphone really depends on the usage pattern of every single user, apps and mobile reception of where we live, after 5 day of usage I can say that with my pattern of usage (see below) I am constantly getting between 4 and 5 hours of SOT.
Pattern of usage: 2 mails in push (one for work where I usually receive many mails by day), mixed use wifi/data, no push notification for facebook, chatting, browising, watching few videos, and reading mostly all the time. Some camera shots when I am with friends. Brightness always in automatic mode.
Camera
There are already too many example and comparisons on youtube. I can only confirm that the camera great one of the best for now. I have a DSLR camera and like to take my time when I have to take a picture of a landscape. So I really appreciated the manual mode and how it is good and simple the interface of the new camera app. Everything can be settled with few taps. Although a smartphone probably will never substitute a DSLR camera, with that toy on G4 you can have fun for sure.
Display
Also here, already many review and comparisons with the S6 amoled. Without judging which is better because I do not own an S6, what I can tell for sure is that it is really good. Colors are never saturated and brightness is fine in the majority of the situations. What I found really improved is the antiglare, the reflection of the sun seems to me pretty good, while a negative impression is that the display seems to be really power hungry as soon as you increase the brightness.
Reception and Calls
Reception is basically the same of my nexus 5 (pretty good) while I found the calls really clear on the LG G4 and better than my nexus 5.
Speakers
Good and really loud… was unexpected!
Missing Features out of the box
Two missing feature out of the box are the wireless charging and the quick charging. While the quick charging is officially supported by the SD808 and we only have to wait for a kernel update to have it enabled, the big disappoint is the wireless charge. Big disappoint because it is not officially supported on the leather cover but only buying a circle cover. After all the advertising on that cover by LG I can not understand why to enable a common feature of any actual flagship we have to change cover (or via an unofficial way, like a sticker to add to the cover).
Overall and final considerations
This phone is satisfying me under the majority of aspect that I want from a phone, like the battery life, the camera, the display and the quality of calls. I think this phone has a huge potential that can be improved with a good custom kernel and a lighter custom rom (even if I have to say that I found the stock rom really fluid and without any lag). With a custom kernel we will probably gain an other hour of SOT.

I got an email yesterday to say that I didn't get picked.
I'm in as well, with the insiders too. One disappointment is I thought we would get the phone before launch, it doesn't look that way anymore. I wonder if they will send out a random selection of colours or just the black.

Yep mee too .. From the mail seems that the device will arrive for the end of this week
I didn't get in, keen to hear what you guys think before ordering one
I'm in too! Devices are arriving tomorrow so we should be one week ahead of launch
I have been selected too for the UK campaign!! Tomorrow UPS is delivering the G4
I think at the end of the program we will be offered to keep the phone for £250, this is the money that they would take in case of loss lol
I'm pretty sure it is going to be the UK/EU model.
I'm just wondering if we will be getting the LTE of the WiFi only model from what I've seen that's the one the testers are getting overseas
And me mine due tomorrow as well
Has anyone figured out whether it will be metal or leather yet
Also I'm quite intrigued by the tone infinum headset that we are getting aswell

I just think it would be strange that the rest of the world gets the wifi model and the people in the UK the full one but then again the other people didn't have to leave a safety bond
That's very true, but I'm sure it said somewhere that rrp 500 that wouldn't be a dummy phone.
But on the other hand, why would the payment only be 250 if you didn't return it when the phone is around 599 gbp and the headphones are 80

[Q] Where do we go next from the OPO?

I can't seem to desire any other phone. I love the display, I love the size. Speed is good. Battery is very good (running stock CM). Not to mention the price.
Also - I love the hardware buttons (I think software buttons - like in the nexus 6p for example - are a waste of screen real estate).
Anyone upgraded and was happy doing so?
I'm in the same boat as you, my phone is almost 2 years old now but i feel no need to upgrade. Unless you live in a area with faster than 150mbs lte, want a finger print scanner, or a crystal clear screen, i would just keep it until the op4.
Had the One for just over a year now and don't feel the need for an upgrade. When I do end up upgrading this phone, it will not be another OnePlus device. The 2 and X have shown little improvements as successors to the One. There will be better options when the time comes
The OPO really opened me up to the modding capabilities of android. As so many people had grabbed the phone and experimented, there was lots of support. CyanogenMod was a key factor in my decision to get it, and I agree with @kenboyles72 : The 2 and X haven't improved enough for me to want to upgrade.
Also, there's nothing wrong with the OPO, even two years old. It still outperforms most of my mates devices
will be a better unit. BUT not that too soon.
opo will be still outstanding unit at least few more years.
Used to handle HTC models prior to opo
really appreciated opo unit.
appropriate in many ways.
I'm going to wait for the OnePlus 3 to see what it has in store, and if the price is high or it doesn't impress me with it's design and such, I'm going with the Xiaomi Mi5. I mean 4GB of RAM, Snapdragon 820, Fingerprint Scanner, Marshmallow, Good Camera, Awesome design and 64GB of storage for ~700AUD, I'm sold.

Is it bootloader unlocked? Or do you plan on staying on stock for several months hoping for some AOSP support only to switch again? Most of the time it's better to wait and see how popular a device is before buying as the more popular a device is the more likely it is to get a good development scene

Boot loader is locked and honestly I don't care. I don't care what Android skin I use, everyone makes a big fuss about oh I can use this and ew Touchwiz and what not and honestly I don't care. I use Google Messenger for texting, Snapchat, Reddit and Facebook Messenger. I'd be lucky to make an hour of phone calls a week. I install Google Now Launcher on the device and an icon pack, the main interaction I have with MIUI is the status bar and recents apps menu. Like looking at this, you wouldn't even know it was MIUI underneath.

OP3 or whatever ~5" Nexus device(s) come out this year.
Went to a Nexus 5x already, but keep leaning back to the OPO that's still lying around.
After The opo will be useless at 2018 i will looking into new battery techs
i was thinking to Nexus 6p, but I've see now the 820's snapdragon devices.... So I think I will wait for sure the next Nexus, if it will be nice i will buy that... And obviously, have a look to opo4
I'm waiting on the note 6... after it gets a custom recovery.
One plus 3 ( if specifications equal or above opo ).
Maybe mi5 when price drops or Next Nexus, opo is still uncomparable as price/quality ratio
Using this thing until it is too slow to use day to day...did this with my HTC g2 and m7. When they start to lag behind too much and battery dies too often, it was upgrade time. I always make sure lots of memory is free for performance.
Sent from the one and only Oneplus One
thus is cool but i am worried if there is hope of android o for us with this one or any good custom roms or any new holy **** kernels as i donot see dev with opo2 then what with opo3 opo 4 will dim
S7 Edge on Tmobile's buy one get one free deal.
I was just browsing the subforum and happened to come across this. I personally own the X which is essentially a more compact One with an AMOLED screen and expandable storage.
I would say keep the One. It's a great phone and if you compare performance of the X to the one, I'd say that there isn't a reason for you to upgrade to anything at all. If you must, go for the X. It's really a side grade if anything as both devices level one another out on terms of HW, but in all honesty, keep what you have. You guys have the best ROMs, the best revision of the 801, and the best kernels after all. Enjoy what you have.
I've had inconsistent performance with the GPS on my OPO. I'm really tempted to get a 5X now that it's $200 (plus that first month of service, right?). Didn't know how important the GPS would be to me.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Moto G7 Power, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Moto G7 Power is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.

I've only had my G7 Power for a couple of days now but I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'm coming from a Note 4 -> OnePlus 5 ->Note 4 (OP5 screen died). The lack of screen resolution hasn't bothered me much yet. I'm really a fan of the screen size, though. I miss the larger phablet form factor. I really needed the longer battery life because of my job(s). I bought a thick, tough-ish case for it already.
The only other phone that I've been considering since my OP5 died is whatever they come out with for the OP7 since I really like the idea of the under-screen fingerprint sensor since there are very few front-facing sensors these days. I don't really dig the location of the sensor on this phone. But overall, this is a great phone for what would probably be half the cost of what the OP7 will most likely cost.
I enjoy having the latest Android version on it. The fluidity from having a near stock Android experience is unparalleled.
The only feature that it's really missing is the NFC sensor. But I'm not majorly bothered by it because I almost never used Android Pay.
Given how budget friendly this phone is but having some common modern smartphone features, I rate it 7.5/10. It's not for everybody, though. It's really only for people that value battery life over most other phone features
I'm coming from an LG V30. I bought the G7 Power for two reasons:. Superior battery and LTE band 71.
I am pleasantly surprised how nice the display is. Reading reviews you'd think it has a blurry and grainy screen. Honestly though, the screen is perfectly fine. Brightness is phenomenal and clarity is solid.
Battery life is the best you will find and having dual SIM capability and and an sdcard compensates for only 32GB of internal storage.
The size and shape of the phone makes for easy usage and the phone never seems excessively large.
The OS runs smoothly, no stuttering or lag is noticeable.
It's just a really solid phone, that combined with it's price makes it an unbelievable bargain.
The only people that should not consider this phone are hardcore gamers.

How's the camera? I have a Moto E5 Plus, considering switching to Metro for the G7 Power. Only thing I really don't like about my E5 Plus is the camera and it seems like it's the same one in the G7 Power. It's not terrible, you just have to have a ton of light and be close up to something.
Three pics, three separate camera apps:

Overcast skies, no direct sun, early am.
I'd break it down better, but I'm turkey hunting right now.
