Best Battery charging, setting tips for maximum sot - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

I have been using this device for a while now. I'm getting 9-10 hour screen on time with social networking, browsing, listening music, watching videos and youtube stuff, without any kind of gaming. As I am not a gamer myself.
I am a heavy user and i feel like i still need extra like 2/3 hour of sot to the end the day... is there any tips/ tricks or way to get atleast 13-14 hour screen on time on this device?
Additional details -
- Miui version 10.3.6.0
- i have dual sim (4g, 3g)
- i dont use any extra app. Just some basic apps.

Buy a external battery.
14hrs of SOT? You're asking for a miracle.
Even by enabling constant battery saving mode and choosing prefered channel to 2G, you will get about 10-11hrs AT BEST.

Your current battery time is quite amazing really I doubt you would find much better anywhere.

install custom roms, like xiaomi.eu or bootleggers as those last longer than stock. flash energy saving modules like sysconfig. install naptime app. these might give u an hour more or 2.

And experience all kinds of bugs..
And go back to stock ROM later when you realize battery life isn't everything you need..

well OP asked for battery life.. and eu stable doesnt have any bugs as far as i know, its the same as stock just less bloated and overall just a better version.

Looks like someone can't live without cr*pware shoved down their throat :silly:

[Q] Just want a few quick reminders on Mytouch 4g

Getting one of these this week to try out the whole android craze. So I already know it will have a rather crappy battery life even with better kernels and roms, but is there a way to generally underclock the device to squeeze more juice out of it? And yes, imagine that, I'm NOT cpu speed crazy.
Camera, like most HTC's still sucks for still pictures, correct or wrong? Unless you're a human tripod, they will come out partially blurry and shooting while moving or moving objects sucks. And that annoying whirring zoom mechanism...
Other than that, any other particular quirks and perks I should know about?
Well how much battery life do you look for in a phone per day? Because with heavy usage I can squeeze 12-14 hours out of man and yea camera is blurry with video if there's movement (I/e went to a concert can't see much of anything in the video) but there's many good developers and such out there especially for this device to increase performance and battery life such as faux123's lV kernel, it's low power but you can still over clock to 1.8 ghz and can underclock at 354 MHz which is great for saving battery as you can set up CPU profiles in an app called setcpu so overall there's not too many issues we haven't worked out for this phone its pretty much a great phone for doing anything
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
The latest GB Sense camera is the best by far, still a bit of blur with motion but the image quality is easily the best out of any other ROM. When coupled with faux's lv kernel you can get anywhere from 15-48 hours out of it. It's a good phone for an average user, an amazing phone for someone willing to learn.
Willing to learn for sure, but primarily want to have an android phone in case some app comes out that I feel I need. Else I'm usually about business-level productivity and longevity and these almost always translated into candybar qwerty w/ good power management (like my Nokia E72- phone has a ludicrous battery life and lasts me 3-4 days w/ some texting, some calling, some music and net use). But are there any affordable android ones like that, that aren't utter crap? No.

My best ever was 3 days and 15 hours on a single charge with light to moderate usage over a weekend. This was on CM7 with the stock CM kernel. In my experience the best way to save battery is be connected to wifi anywhere there is wifi because your phone will not be constantly scanning for a better data signal.
Or to turn off all data unless you gotta use it. Still looking for a decent rom for this thing....

In terms of battery performance, RoyalGinger is the best rom out there!
I use Elite Sense 2.6V(unthemed) and battery life has been stunning for me(245min & 900Max), the performance is still rather quick at 900. I use 3D games, music, friendstream, phone, browser, 4G, and I still get through the day. I do turn off b/g data since I sync everything manually when I feel it's needed, or I need to use the market for app upgrades and whatnot.
And do sim contacts show up alright on Elite Sense? Royalginger failed me with sim reading, so as bare-bone as it is, don't want to use that one.

Note 3 battery, rom, kernel

Hey!
I am interested in getting the Galaxy Note 3 - SM-N900W8, Canadian variant from windmobile.
Just want to inquire about couple of things, if the current users can give input, would really appreciate it!
Firstly, If I want to flash a custom rom? Which one is good in terms of performance, battery life, and no FC and etc. (I am talking about TW samsung roms). What kernel do I have to flash, so I can use the custom roms?
Secondly, if I dont want a custom, and just want to stick to my stock rom, how do I debloat from samsung and google apps? Can I do this without using the custom recovery (to avoid tampering knox)?
Thirdly, how is the battery life on an untampered note 3? What custom and kernel improves the battery life and by how much? The usage is mixed from web browsing lightly on HSPA+ to emails, texting, whats app, and calling for 20 to 30 minutes.
And is the home button resolved? Like is the new batch of note 3 not having this issue or any other?
Thank you so much!
I havent rooted my own phone yet because I don't want to lose my warranty to knox quite yet. However, I think it's too early to speak of which roms/kernels are good, since there aren't many of them out there yet. Give it a month more at least. The Note 3 home button issue was extremely overrated. I haven't had the issue at all and none of my friends who also bought the Note 3.

Thanks so much!
But, I did go to store and found the home button issue though. So, there is a new batch coming out, so im gonna see how it is.
So since your on stock. how is the battery then?? like normal usage, mix of web browsing, music, calls, texting, and gaming (30min max)?

I don't play much. It's not a part of my daily routine, I only do it when I am extremely bored. I usually use my phone for Tapatalk, radio when I'm wandering around in the house, text/phone of course and then reading on Reddit quite a lot. I usually have 2-3 hours of screen and 15-20 hours in total before I run out. So it keep juice for a whole day pretty much, however if you play for an hour or two, you'll get in trouble. I have 4g, wifi, GPS and sync on as well as 100% brightness. honest opinion about the battery ;disappointed. I'm sure rooting can help a lot though.
Remember that some has better experience with the battery than me, but there are others who is disappointed as well. My impression in general is 1 day usage with stock and 2 days with root where you have debloated and greenified everything (maybe even custom kernel and rom) When I read the forums.

This is really great. With every other phone I had before (iPhone5, Lumia 920, etc.) I would be at 0-40% with that usage.

You will mainly get three different answers.
People on stock: It sucks
People on XtreStoLite: It's insane
Some lucky people on stock (rooted etc): It's just fine.
I need root on 511 without tripping Knox and xposed, so greenify and amplify can work properly then battery life will be good. Atm it's okay is.

Thanks, so over all, do you recommend that phone?
Do think that with normal use like watching videos, texting, social media - I'll be in the evening with decent amount of battery?
Sure, battery life will probably improve because atm the device is still awake too much

Depends if you want to trip knox or not.
Stock: 2-5 hours SOT (Depending on brightness, features and apps and if you're on mobile data or wifi.
Stock, rooted: Will increase your mobile data SOT by a few hours by following some of the guides that explains how to disable services and such.
XtreStoLite rom: At least 4-5 hours SOT on mobile data (my screen brightness is on auto and when i'm on mobile data i'm probably outside, so the brightness is medium to high.) and up to 8 hours+ SOT on wifi (with low brightness of course). XtreStoLite makes this phone having some of the best battery life there is available on the market right now.

Beside battery, there is some cons i should be worried about? (Also beside SD card, Im asking more about other things, like interface, is there lags, Is it heats up a lot or not?)

On stock, some people complains about lag. I never witnessed it tho. On XtreStoLite rom there is no lag at all. The rom is debloated. No heat under normal (sometimes heavy use).
It got memory management bug, so you can only have 3-4 apps in the background before it begins closing it. There is (again) a fix for that on XtreStoLite, but will probably get fixed in a month or two (when their new phone arrives).
But really, I never had problems with the memory bug. It's if you open a page in chrome, open 4 other apps and then Chrome again, the page just refresh. On 4g connection you barely notice it.
Good discussion. However, needs to continue on the pre-existing thread for that purpose.Battery Life Discussion Here

Battery life

I just got a LeEco Pro 3 (US version) on Amazon, put on lineage 14.1 on it, and for a device with such a big battery, battery life is atrocious. I'm getting estimates of less then a day. Is there a kernel or ROM that will improve this?
Sent from my LEX727 using Tapatalk
I have had Pro 3 for one year, running 6.01 with Nova Launcher. Battery life is not nearly one day in my heavy usage.
But, have Le Eco Fast Charging Battery, which gives me constant juice.
I probably use 2 full charges a day.
How hard is it to flash ROM you are using? Stable? Difference with stock?
The chip is fast, good storage, RAM.
Good luck.

Is Omni still under development? I kind of want the October patch at least, as I use an open wifi portal and also want to use my bluetooth full time for my smartwatch, and live in a major urban area where if any exploits of these vulnerabilities is in the wild, they would be here.
Edit: looks like it is under active development, I spotted right away the KRANK patches: https://omni.cmxlog.com/7.1/zl1/
Sorry to say but for battery life Stock based ROMs are the best. I've found paranoid Android and Omni to be two of the better nougaty ROMs in that regard. I have some suggestions to help. Use kernel auditor to change parameters. Set first cluster to 1280 second to 1000. Schedule tasks on awake cores. Set GPU to 520 max and change governor to simple ondemand. Change io scheduler to Noop. I can get a day and a half of moderate usage.
I have an x722 on the Banggood vendor ROM and my battery life is pretty good. However I have my phone in Airplane Mode all the time with Wi-Fi enabled, and I've removed pretty much all LeEco applications. I mostly browse the web on the phone (very light text-based pages with few images, if any) while listening to local, offline music. Yesterday I was watching a bunch of 480p Youtube videos (in Chrome, stupid YT downgrades quality in mobile browsers) and my battery life got a bit low, around 70%. Okay, I guess. I think [email protected] YT would cause your battery to drain a lot quicker, especially if you're using the official YT app.
I keep my screen on a fair bit while commuting, but I don't use data; I just read offline pages. Maybe you should try going back to debloated stock, and then compare battery life on both ROMs. The issue could also be a rogue app. Use Greenify.

Well, yeah. Any phone with a SIM in it is constantly searching for a signal. But if you really want to know if there's a significant difference, test the phone's battery life with just Wifi enabled. If you're still getting bad battery life, it's something else.

Same here my findings exactly!
I appreciate all Lineage is doing for ROM development, but it seems others have better kernels or something. Is it all in the kernel, do you think, or is there some battery optimization going on in the ROMs themselves?
People try to say that custom roms aren't as good as stock. I have been having nothing but stellar battery life on Paranoid 7.3.1 I can't much more than 6 1/2 hours and counting with extremely heavy usage. Was also taking photos all day

Reduce CPU usage, use Kernel Adiutor app, set max not 2140 Mhz, but 1400 Mhz, etc, I did this on my old phone 4.2 android and I usually had 1 week usage with 2500 mAh battery.
I still don't get what is little and BIG setting for CPUs.. I set them both lower.

Yes you are right, lower the max of CPU speed, normal 80-90% app run at not even 1000MHz. If you want more battery lower both BIg and LIttle core max speed down I can't see it mak ethe phone slow/lag or anything like that.

Battery issues on many custom ROMs

Hi guys, I've got a problem that keeps me forcing using stock ROM instead of custom ROMs. Basically, on every custom ROM I flash I get horrible battery life no matter what. Like 4 hrs SOT while on stock ROM with the same usage I can even double that result. It's very frustrating :/ anyone else experienced this? I've tried Pixel Experience, crDroid, Paranoid Android, CarbonROM and ElementalX.
On every single one of them I get horrible battery life after a week or so, still can't figure out why. As I said, stock ROM drains just fine and allows me two days usage with 7/8 SOT hrs. I remember having to revert back to stock because Paranoid Android 3 could barely last me until evening with ~4hrs SOT.
Any advices ?
Syberia Rom try ?
Trust me mate, i felt the same what you are feeling, tried all the roms but wont get satisfied with the battery but not with pixen os , its a beast in sot i wont get even 5 hours with other roms but in pixen able to get upto 7 hours of sot(without gaming) , after flashing you have to wait for a week to get better results. At first you will face deep sleep issues but its ok let the rom get adapt with your device after a week you will get better results. Its been a month still i am getting upto 6 hours of sot with lil bit heavy usage (without gaming). Good luck
Here's my stats for today. Definitely more than I'll ever need. This is my fav setup thus far using my 6t which I purchased from swappa used some months ago. I watched a ton of youtube vids, read lots of news from my Google news feed, texted for some hours using signal, made a few calls and read XDA of course. ?
I'm definitely happy with this. Normally I never even reach this far as I took my phone off charge a bit sooner than usual and it's waaaaayyy past my bed time. Haha!

Very rarely. Like maybe 30 minutes in those stats I posted here. Now I've made my tweaks. Installed Naptime and Servicely apps and tuned them and also installed magisk module to make Google services doze aggressively as well. And I wiped my phone and reinstalled OOS + Corvus rom+ Blu Spark kernel. This time I backed up my system partition so if I get all crazy installing sound mods I can restore my system and it's untouched. I stay on LTE almost always but when my phone's not being used most of the time I turn off my data and sync..
