Samsung S10+ Proximity Sensor issue - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I would like to tell you that it often happens when I pull the S10+ out of my pocket, so the display is not in "stand by" mode, it is not always on display, but it is slightly backlit. Classically, the display is black and shines only AOD. But when I pull it out of my pocket, instead of the classic AOD it shines for hours and even seconds and after them you can see the wallpaper of the locked display and it is slightly backlit. The display itself is dark, but it is slightly backlit and you can see the wallpaper. With the classic AOD, the display is completely black and I have set only hours, minutes, date and battery, and of course, the notification, if any. Does anyone know what it is, whether it can be turned off so that the display does not illuminate the pocket?
I have accidental touch protection on.

As far as I know proximity sensor is only accessible when you are in call, that's why other apps can't access it.

Samsung should remedy this. Because I always change the Always On setting in my pocket. Specifically - Rotation and Brightness Always On.
EDIT: It happens most when I tap wake-up.

[Q] Auto-brightness Sensor

I am currently running JPA/JPB Hybrid firmware and I was wondering if there even is a sensor for the auto-brightness.
Normaly I have set my brightness to the lowest level, which is enough for indoor usage. But as soon as I am outdoors in the sunlight I can't even tell if the display is on or off with this brightness level.
Now the strange thing about this is that it does not seem to make a difference whether you check the "Power saving mode" in the Display settings or not - the Display brightness always stays the same:
- with the highest level it does not get darker in very dark rooms to save battery
- with the lowest level it does not get brighter even in direct sunlight, which makes the display unusable
On the left of the Samsung-logo there are 2 "holes", I guess one must be the proximity sensor and the other one the brightness sensor?
Is there any way to have the brightness on a very low level in dark rooms and on a high level in bright rooms / outdoor WITHOUT switching manually? Even switching with a widget sucks, because outdoors the display is so dark that I can't even draw the pattern to unlock the screen first (at least not without covering the display from the sunlight)
If there is I think the driver is missing so it's useless.
There is a brigness sensor, not for auto adjusting the screen brighness, for example try *#0*# and press sensor, now if you put you finger on the sensor, you phone vibrates, it means it is dark, if your finger is not on the sensor, it says, its brighten outside, that is for example to telephone, the screen goes dark, when you put the phone to your ears
"that is for example to telephone, the screen goes dark, when you put the phone to your ears"
No, that's the proximity sensor, and I think there is no light sensor in SG3, because that test app shows only proximity, accelerometer and magnetic sensor.

Power Saving is not for dynamically change the strenght of backlight. It's just turning to lowest level when your battery is 15% and less.
And there is 2 holes, for proximity sensor. Try to cover one hole, and it doesn't work. Why? Because 1 hole sending an infrared (I think...) wave, and second is receiving that back, from eg., your hand.

[Q] Screen dimming before shutting off

I've noticed that my Fascinate's screen dims before going dark. Is there any way to disable this behavior? I use keep phone overnight in a desk dock, running the app 'Bedside' to display an extremely dim clock. The phone's automatic 'dimming' actually seems to brighten black portion of the screen a tiny amount.
I've messed around with the display settings, but thusfar had no success. Does anyone know of a workaround?

Moto display / notification brightness

I really like this phone. Coming from DT1 it's a nice upgrade, not a gigantic upgrade but nice. As for all of the concern about the screen brightness, I find the screen very nice, bright and sharp and have no complaints once you get into your phone or into an application etc. My only complaint with respect to brightness is with moto display. When you look at your phone and the time comes up with lock underneath, the display is very dim. When I press to unlock, the date at the top of the screen is extremely dim as well. I use phone with no screen lock. (Adaptive brightness is also turned off).
The same obviously goes for notifications when you long hold to view prior to opening up phone and viewing whatever notification has popped up. Does anyone know if this setting can be adjusted? I cannot find a way to make moto display brighter. They may have done this to conserve battery but I'd like to see it brighter. I know the dimness has nothing to do with shatter shield as third party lock screens are bright and vivid and heck, Moto's daydream on clock setting is bright and vivid.

AOD way too dark outside - any fix?

The always on display screen is just way too dark and I'm outside in the sunlight. I can't read it at all. Everything else is fine, normal phone screen brightness is just right. Is there a way to adjust brightness of the AOD display at all?

I just recently turned mine off because of this. If I leave my phone face down it is too dark when I pull it up to see the time etc. If I left it screen up it would be at a very high brightness. It just adjusts to the situation slowly.
Thanks....I actually didn't see any response from the AOD to get brighter in sunlight...maybe I didn't wait long enough, but I waited a lot longer than I thought I should need to. Are you sure the AOD screen has any reaction at all to ambient lighting?
Yes it does effect it if it's on. Just put a finger over the sensor and it will dim

Ambient light sensor - Ambient screen mode does not turn off when sensor is covered?

I have an Huawei Watch 2 with ambient light sensor. Many have watches with this sensor (it controls the screen brightness if you have auto set)
I have noticed that when I wear my watch under my jacket sleeve OR if I cover my watch screen - the screen remains on? Why?
My pixel 2 xl has ambient mode display and ambient light sensor - when it's upside down or in my pocket the screen goes off.
I am trying to work out if the behavior of my watch is working correct, does anyone screen go off when covered? If not are there any ways to achieve this?

Go off if you have not always ON or if you not activate by movement.
If you have ALWAYS ON, then...... it ........ ALWAYS ON
