Update from EMUI8 to EMUI9. Omnirom9 - VKY-L29 - Huawei P10 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello fellows.
How can I update my VKY-L29, which is running Openkirin's EMUI 8-based Build OmniROM Pie Alpha 5.2, to EMUI9? So that I can update to OmniROM Beta 5 or so? HiSuite is not working.

Hi!
I would suggest booting in to recovery and running the recovery option to download to back to stock rom (This may or may not delete your data so always back up!). However first check from firmware finder if EMUI 9 roms have been released to your specific version so you're sure your model has EMUI 9 available now. If so once you're in the stock rom it should update you to EMUI 9 and you can continue flashing Openkirins EMUI 9 roms. Please be aware Openkirins suggested Magisk installation does not work on EMUI 9. However there is another way to flash magisk to EMUI 9 roms.
Thanks!

EMUI 5 LOS/RR ROMs?

Are there any Stock/close to stock Android 7.1.2 ROMs for the P9 Lite that can be flashed on EMUI 5 unlike where with meticulus you need to downgrade to 4.1
At the moment, no.
We wanted to donate a device to OpenKirin team but it did not end well..

EMUI 4.1.1 > custom EMUI 5 ROM possible?

My VNS-L31 is currently on EMUI 4.1.1.
I planned to install a custom EMUI 5 ROM on the device. However, it said that "This*ROM*is only for Firmwares based on*EMUI 5.0 only..."
So, can I install that ROM on my EMUI 4.1.1 device, or I need to install EMUI 5.0 before I install it?
ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...elite-rom-v1-0-nougat-builds-cxxb3xx-t3625599
BTW, current firmware version installed is VNS-L31C636B161
Hello The F12 of Maranello,
Surly you may brick your device if you dont follow the right procedure...(EMUI 5 only)
I'm on Elite ROM can confirm
you have to upgrade to EMUI 5(android 7.0) first.
Best regards

How do I update to EMUI 5 if I'm using a AOSP rom currently

I'm currently on RR 7.1.1 by Meticulous which is running off of the EMUI 4.1 base, and I'm wanting to upgrade to an Oreo ROM, but I can't do that without updating my base to EMUI 5. Are there any ways to do this? Since I never got the OTA for EMUI 5 on my stock rom anyway

Hey man,
go back to stock, then rebrand to C432 or C185 or c636, ect.. Upgrade to EMUI 5 with stock updater or firmware finder/HWOTA/DLOAD methods and flash whatever you want.
Have a good night

Android 11 on Huawei P Smart (2018)

Hi guys, I was thinking about installing the Android 11 beta on my Huawei P Smart, because I want my phone Up To Date (without wasting money) and because I really love the stock Android experience. But, I came with 2 questions:
1-Because it's not an official update, what are the things that I should be aware of before doing it (like performance drop, bugs,...)? I'm talking about the stable version because I know that the beta will always have some kind of bugs.
2-When the Stable version is released, can I make an upgrade from the Beta to the Stable without having to wipe my data (like a regular and an official Huawei's system update)?
The Android 11 GSI will not boot, wait untill phh releases a phh 11 gsi
