Unlocked bootloader + root = no Google Pay ? - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Hi,
I've switched to xiaomi.eu rom and installed Magisk. Unfortunately Google Pay doesn't work anymore. Same thing for one of my banking app that doesn't allow me to use fingerprint to authenticate :crying:
Everything worked fine with the stock rom and locked bootloader.
I tried to use Magisk hide for Google Pay and my banking app with no success.
Also tried "SafetyPatch" Magisk module and it still fails.
SafetyNet test in Magisk is successful so I have no idea what can be the problem ?

I think there is a solution. I found it at Polish forum. I translated it with google. Should be good enough to know what to do. I didn't test it yet. I need to wait for BL unlock.
We install Magisk - Magisk Canary (.apk file). With Magisk Manager, we download the latest .zip Magiska and install it in TWRP.
Go to Magisk> Magisk Hide and select Google Pay , Google Play Services and other banking applications .
In the Google Pay app settings, we're cleaning data and cache (Settings -> Applications -> Management -> Google Pay).
Go to TWRP -> Advanced (Advanced) -> File manager .
Go to file: /data/data/com.google.android.gms/databases/dg.db
We click chmod , enter 440 and confirm.
We run the system (reboot system) and configure Google Pay . After correct addition of the card and verification by the bank, we should be able to pay with NFC.

Thanks a lot! It worked for me too on my Mi9 with xiaomi.eu !

Here is the tutorial and 4 methods to fix this issue. If Google Translate doens't work, I can translate it for you. Btw. those methods are from xda too (https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/magisk-google-pay-gms-17-1-22-pie-t3929950).
Google Pay doens't work after unlocking bootloader on Global too.

Is there an solution to enable Google pay without unlocking and rooting the device? Doesn't seem to work while I tested yesterday.

Did You change wallet type in settings for "Use HCE"? It won't work without that.

Huge thanks guys Google Pay is now working :good:
Unfortunately my banking application still doesn't allow me to authenticate with my fingerprint.

Like the other post said you have to enable HCE Wallet. And also have a look if Google Pay has the right permissions like using NFC. After I did all that it started to work like a charm.

is Google Pay still working with this fix ?
I know that even if it works for some time it will stop working after few days ...
Cheers,

It's still working for me.

How does this issue show itself?
I've been using the xiaomi.eu weekly with Magisk and MagiskHide Props Config add on, and was able to activate Google Pay (haven't used it yet, that's why I'm asking), and use my banking apps.

Since you use root, you are the one to ask for, is really that fingerprint scanner works slow?. Textually:

MicroG/Tingle Lineage OS installed; no push notifications but the errors for GPS gone

I have the MicroG apps, as well as tingle on my Moto G4 Play.
For apps that require Google Play Services (Protonmail, Nextdoor, etc), the "missing Google Play Services" errors are gone, but I still don't receive push notifications. Nextdoor app simply crashes with the error "Nextdoor has stopped - Open app again or Mute until device restarts"
This thread regarding Unifiedlp is similar to what I see occurring in Microg: https://github.com/ale5000-git/tingle/issues/23
The dev states, "This usually happen when you install the app as user app, on Android 7+ it should be installed as system app" - can any one point me to info on how to do that?
This is my first time installing a new OS to a phone.
The easiest way is to use this: microG unofficial installer

I already installed microg & tingle on my device; I can uninstall the microg apps to use this, but how do I uninstall tingle (I don;t see any presence for it)?
Will this installer simply overwrite/ignore anything that already exists?
I think there may simply be a setting I'm overlooking, perhaps.. like, unifiedlp is all unticked in the self-check, but the app shows under settings, so it exists and is installed.
Not sure what else to check

Tingle isn't a thing that can be installed, it simply patch a file on the device.
It is needed for microG so if you use it, I suggest to NOT undo the patch.

Yes, the installer will simply overwrite anything that already exists (except if you have already installed microG on the /system with custom filenames but it is unlikely).
Thanks to the Signal messaging app, I clued in on what I was doing wrong.
If anyone else researching this issue stumbles across this, here's what fixed it:
1) Update the affected app, if updates are available
2) microG Settings -> Google Cloud Messaging: Enable, not sure if I needed Google device registration, but I enabled it, too; as well as Google SafetyNet
Today I received my first notification from one of the apps I was struggling with. Nothing for Protonmail yet, though.

SafetyNet isn't needed for most apps.
If you use Push notifications you must enable Google device registration and Google Cloud Messaging.
Reinstall all the apps installed before microG (it is needed to get the permissions); also in case an app don't have working push notification you must also delete its app data.

Hello,
Did anyone of you guys succeeded in making work uber by using Magisk Hide ? I'm unable to do so, more because I can't bypass safetynet and can't apply the solution given above( I'm running on microG, my device is GApps free and hope it to stay that way).

This stopped working for Google Pay, since it shows a notification when you Open GPay saying that you must allow Google Play Services to access to the phone, so GG.

I tried to get both phone pe and tez to send SMS with jiocall so, but it always fails. U can try by registering in the app and manually opening jiocall app, go to messages and send the message that was typed by phone pe, but the very act of switching to another app while registering will kill the registration process.
I waited till my phone got volte update and then tried. It seems like u need volte to register with jio.
So only options are to get a volte phone or Port to another operator like Airtel or idea.
Thanx

[GUIDE][ROOT][(ED)XPOSED] Install Xposed using Magisk

SOME OF THIS MIGHT BE A BIT OUTDATED.
I haven't checked Riru for some time now. My school is killing me with assignments. When I have a bit of free time I will check everything and update this post.
Hello!!
In this thread I'm gonna show you how to install root with Magisk and install xposed.
First off all. This is how I did it. I'm going to explain it to the best of my abilities. However, if this does not work for you, or it resolves into a brick, its not my fault. Everything you do to your device it your own doing.
With that being said. Lets start!!
My setup:
Phone: Poco F2 Pro
Rom: xiaomi.eu Stable for Poco F2 Pro/Redmi K30 Pro
Android version: 10
Root: Magisk 21
Edxposed version: EdXposed-YAHFA-v0.4.6.2.4529.-release
Riru core version: magisk-riru-v21.3
EdXposed manager version: EdXposedManager-4.5.7-45700
What did i do?
I installed xiaomi.eu weekly first. But quickly after finding out that root doesn't work on Android 11 yet, I installed the stable which was still on Android 10.
So here are the steps what i did to install EdXposed
The files should be attached to this post as a zip, if you don't see them here is a link
1: Install latest Magisk 21.1
2: Install magisk-riru-v21.3.zip
3: Install EdXposed-YAHFA-v0.4.6.2.4529.-release.zip
4: Reboot phone
5: Install EdXposed installer
After I did this Chrome stopped working. Every time I wanted to open Chrome it just closed on its own. So I did a little search on Google and found a fix.
Thanks to Reddit user lkn194 for explaining how to fix this issue.
A quick step-by-step on how he/she did it:
In EdXposed Installer:
1: Go to settings> Framework> activate APP LIST MODE
2: Go to applications (Black list)> Leave enabled for:
• Android Services Library;
• Chrome;
• Google service structure;
• Google play services;
• Google play services for AR
3: Restart your device. After that you're done and Chrome is working
The first module I installed was CustoMIUIzer. Its an amazing addon mod for MIUI devices. You should definitely check that out.
This is the link
I hope this works for you as well as it does for me.
If you have any questions, be sure to say so.
Thanks for checking this out and have a great day!!
Welp the files weren't attached to that post, so here they are.

Thanks for the tutorial, but just wondering; does Customiuizer work well for you if you've got phone security enabled? I ask because I tried it earlier after correctly installing edxposed on the latest stable MIUI EU, but once I had customised the settings through the app and rebooted to have them applied, all I got was an onscreen 'please wait' warning that just hung there forever.
After doing some online research, I found out that if the phones encrypted (fingerprint or password), the Customiuizer app gets stuck on load for some strange reason. If all security options are disabled, then the app will apply the customisations just fine (although at the moment not all features seem to work on Miui12), so just wanted to know if this happens to you as well... Thanks again.

Hmm. To be honest, I've never encountered that. I always disable the MIUI security checks. So everything works fine for me from the get-go. I guess you have to disable the security to get it working. I'm sorry to say so, I'm not much help here...

I'm sorry, i didnt say what. I was referring to disabling the security checks on installing apk's. That all i disabled. I also did nothing with the Security app. I haven't even actually opend that app.
Try disabling the security for apk's check by going into
Security app --> settings --> Security Scan --> disable "Scan before installing".
I also didn't click on any "agree" button cus like i said, i dont use the Security app
Thats what i have. Nothing more nothing less.

Thanks, but I had already disabled "Scan before installing". I guess it's something to do with the device being encrypted, because once I remove any passwords or fingerprints, some of the app's functions do indeed work (eg.: advanced reboot, volume keys media playback control). I guess for the moment it's either no security at all or no CustoMIUIzer...
A small request if I may; if you have the time, could you kindly check if album art is displaying on your lock-screen while paying music? The option to activate this feature is under 'lock-screen' mods within the CustoMIUIzer app... Thanks in advance.

In any event, it's all quite strange since I'm also using the same rom and configuration as you are:

Anyhow, will try and reinstall the app again later today and fiddle around with it a bit to see what could be causing the issue then...
Thanks anyhow for the help. :good:
Update: Tried it all again starting over from scratch, and this time the CustoMIUIzer app worked perfectly without any hangs. What I did differently was verify all permissions had been granted for the app and also enabled it to auto-start as well, and so far, it seems to be working fine.
Had a problem with the album art on lock-screen not applying, though, but after a few tries I managed to figure out that it was because of some compatibility issue with the default MIUI theme; it worked when I set the 'Classic' theme as default, and also used a static wallpaper instead of a live one...

As of now, root in its whole doesn't work on Android 11. And because it only works for Android 10 there is no other option but only to use this on Stable.
Unless you want no root and just want check out the new features. I suggest the Stable.

Unless you want no root and just want check out the new features. I suggest the Stable.

I dont know anything about root on Android 11. When i tried to install it on beta it didnt work. And so far I've seen only one person who said he/she had been able to acquire root on 11. If someone else can confirm this that would be great. I cant test it rn, cus of personal reasons, I need a stable phone.
for what you use Xposed?

Installing games with OnePlus 8 Pro

Hi XDA,
Phone: OnePlus One Pro 8
Model: IN2025
OS: Oxygen OS 11.IN11AA
Magisk:1469b82a (21101)
I recently rooted my phone and it works quite well, I have used Magisk Hide to 'hide root from my banking apps', it works so does NFC and google pay.
I hide the following service through magisk hide: (Banks, Google Play Game, Google Play Services, an authenticator (Duo Mobile))
1) However, I don't seem to be able to install some games from google playstore, namely : Eve Echoes, World of Warships, Warpath ..all of them download but give the error "Can't install, try again"
Is there a work around?
2) On a side note: is apkpure a trusted website (they seem to have APKs for everything)?
Thank you!
Cheers,
DV

I'm not sure about why google play won't work, probably you can try to wipe data and cache of the Google Play services and google play store and maybe that would work?
I have the apkpure app and it works beautifully, it updates my apps and games faster than the app store and even beta version you can find there. I mainly use apkpure so I can download games and apps that are "not available in my region"

@dvartak May sound stupid, but does the Play Store app has storage access ? I had the same message when using microg and the Play Store, I wasn't able to install any "big" app until I gave the storage permission.

Hi,
Yes, it does. I can install big games and apps. I can install Genshin impact and other games(offline), which is why I am perplexed as to why others won't install.

That's bizarre never heard of it
Can I ask, have you got the dreaded lucky patcher installed?
If not then might be time to clear down play services, play store, play games etc, sign out - sign in
Try pushing the game by saying you want to install it via the web.
Go here and sign in, then find the game, choose your phone and itll push to your device, don't let the play store open the link
https://play.google.com/store
What modules do you have installed??

The only thing I have installed is systemless. I tried installing magiskhide props config to see if it helped; it did not, so I uninstalled it.
On the web, it says 'installed', but it isn't.
EDIT: I tried with another gmail account, reinstalling google play games.
Other online games such as Clash of Clans seem to work, so does Among Us and Genshin Impact.
The ones that don't work that I have tried: Eve Echoes, WarPath and World of Warships < All of these show up as installed on the web (but aren't installed on any android device that I own).
Eve Echoes downloads starts installing and gives the error unable to install.
Can some one who is rooted try if these games will work.
ok, one more interesting update: Netflix app seems to work, I thought it shouldn't work on rooted phones.

Ill try them, see what I get, not my types of games but sure np.
Must have detected root.
I think it's the game detecting it, not your system. Or Google play won't allow the installation if you're rooted on those games.
I'll try them now.
Seems to be working for me..that's warpath.. Installed then verified in game. I have play protect off
This is my version of magisk on canary.
Edit: Image uploads not working on the app.
It's version 1469b82a
You could maybe change to canary then update, will need to repatch and update magisk manager. It's easy, no need for ADB

Just so that I have understood it correctly,
Step 1: Set channel to Canary,
Step 2: Update Magisk and Manager to whatever is latest
Step 3: move the magisk_patched file to my downloads folder
Umm..what do you mean by repatch and update magisk ?
Sorry

Ok so change to canary.
Head back to the normal magisk screen.
You'll see two install/update buttons
Top is magisk
Bottom is magisk manager
Update the manager, it'll download,, then click install.
Next click magisk then install directly
Reboot and you're done .
PS: have your original magisk patched img ready just in case but I've done this a LOT and have never had an issue, so you'll be fine.

One quick question, should I disable magisk hide (settings) and systemlesshosts before doing this ?
EDIT:
a) ok so I tried this, I disabled the magisk hide before attempting this, it detected my magiskpatch during direct install. When the phone rebooted things were a bit slow and my internet was not working. Another reboot and everything was fast again, but no luck with Warpath.
b) Tried to clear cache and storage for playstore and google play games. Shutdown the phone, started it again.
No luck.
c) I downloaded APKPure to try and download 'Warpath', it downloaded but would not proceed with installation., I had to manually click install APK.>The game starts and asks to download additional files..., files are downloaded and it fails to install.
In the grand scheme of things it would be great if I could install everything, I can get by with not installing these games. I fear that this might an issue with others apps as well although so far I have not encountered any problems.
Any other things I could try ?
2) On another note, I wanted to know how I could backup my active partition (just incase I want to try things and something breaks).
3) This might not be related at all, I noticed that my root folder (using solid explorer) shows 0B free of 1.42 GB. Is this normal that the root folder is completely full ?
Thanks!

DV

Yes it's tthat's similar to mine. It's possible that that's the problem but I've not witnessed that before, maybe it is the problem.
Ok so it seems were running low on fixes here..it's almost certainly a permissions issue, maybe the system space? I'm guessing!
Have you tried to mount namespace??
Did you hide magisk manager? Unhide it. Btw I don't mean magisk hide I mean the manager, then reboot.
I'm not sure if there is a way to reset all permissions to apps including Android system apps but that would be my next step.
Beyond that, remove modules and wipe system in recovery, it'll be you're system, apps, settings, but storage will remain, it's what I do if I need to start over as system is where 90% of issues reside.. You will need to fastboot boot the magisk patched img then directly install after.
If it's not that then it's a deeper problem and even though it's just a few games at the moment it won't fix itself, so without a tonne of troubleshooting then it'll be MSM or full zip restoring. Probably MSM though as you'll get fresh everything.
Hang on your internet didn't work??
That's a sign that you're using a boot.img from the previous firmware??
That could be the problem. Re download you're firmware using oxygen updater mate.
Open settings /advanced
Then download the full zip.

The only magisk patch I have is from the large file that the phone/oxygen OS downloaded to get me OS 11. You helped me on my other thread.

Bank app detecting root, SafetyNet passed

I installed magisk but my bank app detecting root. I passed SafetyNet and can install Netflix in Google Play. But somehow bank app detects root or unlocked bootloader. Can somebody help?
Device: OnePlus 8 Pro / OOS11_OB7 Android 11 / Magisk Canary (f152b4c2,22005) / Kernel( Omega & Stock both tried. )
Installed Magisk Modules: "ADB&Fastboot for Android NDK / MagiskHide Props Config / OOS Native Call Recording Enabler / Systemless Host"
Root obtained with boot.img patching method, not pre-patched images. I patched my own img. Passing safetynet, magisk app hidden. I can download Netflix in Google Play as I know you can't download it with not safetynet pass.
App: "Yapıkredi Mobil (com.ykb.android)"
App is soft detecting. I can login but cannot do specific abilities in app, they are disabled. App says we cannot provide this features unless we confirm you are on secure device. FYI if safetynet fails apps giving there is root popup but in this circumstances it is just soft disabling some features.
@VD171 hi. I used your app called "VD Infos" and I'm getting 4 root detection errors. Do you have any ideas about fixing them? It gives emulator tags. I used "Magisk Hide Props Config" after seeing this emulator thing but still fails.

There's a way to use banking apps with safetynet passing and an unlocked bootloader. Some banking apps don't work even though you pass safetynet as they detect if your bootloader is unlocked.
I found an app that allows banking apps to work by making a parallel app and this app is called island. This app can be used to clone banking apps and it solved the problem! Try it out! Disclaimer: Only Island can "bypass" this

Have u tried it? Obvs u need to pass safetynet first and then if the banking app still doesn't work then try my suggested method. It works with me which was why I suggested it. We're in the Oneplus 8 pro XDA thread. Your guide works for the redmi Note 9 which is a different device and requires the user to wipe their data and the method requires a partition the 8 pro doesn't have (SECCFG). Doesn't seem worth it just to bypass unlocked bootloader detection for some banking apps that detect it. Like if my suggested method somehow doesn't work well then you're better off locking your bootloader

Does not matter the section.
The question has relevance for all Android devices.
If I didn't help you, just ignore it.
But, as I said, clonning app makes easily to inject malicious codes to the app.
So, clonning app is NOT a better way for banking apps.
I just warned, each one does what he/she wants.

If you know what you are doing, NO.
It is not highly risky.
I root my device because I paid for the device, I bought the device, I didn't rent it.
I have 25 android devices and all them are rooted.
I'm using Fedora Linux in my personal computer for more than 11 years.
So, rooting is not a problem if you know what you are doing.
Edit: At this moment, I have exactly 49 banking apps installed on my main device. Some apps are from the same bank, just an alternate app for credit card management. They are ALL working perfectly. Some of them have more protection than others. But if you are root, you can bypass all types of protections. Capitalism is a lot of fun.
Bruh just use Shamiko and be done with it...
