EEA Global v10.3.8.0 to v10.3.10.0 through TWRP [MI 9T] (SOLVED) - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

Hello guys,
I'm searching (as the title said) someone that is in my same situation. I'm currently running the MIUI Global on Mi 9T with twrp + magisk. I'd like to update it safely but I don't know how to do. I tried to flash the rom zip through the twrp but it gives me the error "zip file is corrupt". I hope I will found someone to collaborate with.
I think the best things to do are:
- Unistall Magisk from twrp
- Reflash the original recovery through twrp
- Update MIUI Global
- Reflash TWRP and Install magisk
The possible issue is at the first step: if we unistall Magisk we could be stuck into bootloop and then we cannot do anything to restore our phone.
Another possible solution is to flash the fastboot rom through MiFlash but it is still not out and I don't know if it will ever be.
EDIT: I found how to correctly update the device. If anyone is in my same situation, just follow these steps
- Download the rom link from here
- Go to twrp and flash it (don't reboot yet)
- Go back and flash magisk
- Reboot

can you explain steps how you tried to flash by twrp?

Sure, I just downloaded the rom zip through the official updater and then I tried to flash it through twrp
Update: ok, the zip was really damaged. Now I installed it through an external source. How I can safely update now?

now you install which rom? eea or global?

EEA. A developer of my old device suggested me to do this:
- Flash the rom zip
- Flash magisk (since it should disable dmverity to keep the twrp)
- Reboot
But I repeat: I'm scared like crazy because if I go into bootloop my phone will be out since a new fastboot rom will be out.
What's your opinion about this? Should I try anyway?

Before foashing new rom ununstal magisk by twrp. After all should work well

I have read of some cases of bootloop after magisk unistall

Blocked on "Please lock the bootloader" screen A2017G

Hi guys,
First, English isn't my first language so, sorry if it hurts your eyes :/
Second, I'm new to TWRP / root etc... (since yesterday) and I don't fully understand the exact meening of all words like flash / rom etc...
So: I'm actually blocked in the "Your device can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader". Apparently it's a normal screen now, when we boot we always see this. OK ( at least that's what I read)
My volume keys aren't doing anything and I can't access my phone anymore.
I can access TWRP if I want.
Thx for responding :good:
Adb & fastboot still recognize your device ?
If yes flash twrp as recovery with fastboot and boot into it with fastboot.

How can I know if ADB recognize my phone?
I can access TWRP so I don't need to flash it again ? Is there a difference between just flash TWRP and flash TWRP with fastboot ?
Sry, my bad, i miss read that you can access twrp, sry, I thought you can't, what happens if you flash a rom, which twrp is installed, what were your steps that you end stuck on bootloader message ?
Edit: if your issue is that you don't know how to start flashing, read the Los thread and follow the op.
Instructions:
1. Install the Universal bootloader and your model specific modem.Failure to do so will not allow flashing the ROM!
2. Update recovery [Recommended -> Official TWRP for Axon7
3. Factory reset if coming from another ROM.
4. Install ROM
5. Install GApps (optionally) [Recommended -> Open GApps (arm64) (7.1) 2017-02-01 or Newer
Download all files from the thread and put them on to your microsdcard, if your twrp is up to date you don't have to do this again. Flash the zip files in the order of the instructions, just press install at twrp and choose the zips, you can add multiple and flash them together.
Man, trust me, I'm not a lazy man and all I want is to have my phone back even if it's stock
I don't understand what you're trying to make me do, sincerely
If you can give me a link where I can have a guide steps by steps or make this guide for me that would be the best thing of my day...
... I really need to wait wtf

Reboot system now

I really don't know your issue, except you seem not to read enough. What guide you want ? How I flash a custom rom to my phone ? How to use twrp ?Why you unlocked your bootloader ? How did you manage to have the stock recovery back ?
I have to guess what you want and what you already did . If you need a guide, here are severals in the guide section.

So you are stuck with stock recovery and not TWRP? If so I would find a guide to "flash" or install TWRP in what is called EDL mode.
If you can do that, you then need to:
boot directly into TWRP and wipe dalvik, system, data, and cache.
Then install universal boot loader and modem for your device. (A2017G)
Next install latest TWRP img found on https://TWRP.me
And lastly reboot into recovery again and install Rom (version of Android you want to try) and any other modifications you want (kernel, gapps, magisk, etc.)
If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. Good luck!

What? You can flash the ROM after flashing the universal bootloader, then also flash TWRP via itself, and you'll stay on the latest...
Rebooting without a ROM is bad. just bad. even rebooting to recovery. that's how i got my dfu brick

I am not 100% sure what you are saying. But yeah, sure. Flash the Rom after the universal bootloader and modem. Then flash twrp. Then reboot.
If you think that is better for OP then that works. I haven't ever had the problem of rebooting to recovery without a rom installed but you're right that it probably is safer.
I only suggested that because the TWRP that comes with the real old universal bootloader on LOS thread is also very old. So, flashing a rom with the new version I thought would be best to avoid errors. Thanks!

The thing is, after you flash the universal bootloader, the TWRP on the sd gets replaced. but the TWRP that you are using is loaded in RAM. So even if you install a TWRP version you'll stay in the version you flashed before until you reboot. If you install the universal bootloader and then install the TWRP img you'll keep everything as-is on the next reboot. I discourage rebooting without a system especially on a G because any interruption might lock the phone in DFU. On an a2017U that wouldn't be a problem because the phone boots into edl if any software error is present

I’m on stock rom, MIUI Global 12.0.2, rooted with Magisk 21.4 and Orangefox recovery. Now there is an update to MIUI 12.0.3.
I’m not sure what to do. When I go to https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/ there is no recovery to 12.0.3. I can only find firmware 12.0.3. Can I still use this solution with firmware type?

I’m rather confused. When I go to About phone it says my MIUI version is Miui Global 12.0.2 stable (QFGEUXM). But the EEA version in your link has the same number: QFGEUXM. Does that mean I can use the Redmi Note 7 EEA Stable Recovery V12.0.3.0. (QFGEUXM)?
Edit: I can see when I click Download the Package Name includes "Global". So I guess it is usable? But then do I choose the Incremental Update or must I download Full ROM (.zip)?
Edit2: Just an update in case anyone should have the same question. I flashed the EEA version without problems. And I downloaded the Full ROM.

I'm not 100% sure because I don't use MIUI, but I think it's still good, what makes you think it's not good anymore? I don't think there have been any particular changes in how MIUI or magisk works that would make it obsolete

Mainly because of the installation guide - https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#custom-recovery - and Lavender's missing ramdisk. But I'm not sure and therefor I ask.

I'm on official lineageos 17.1 and yesterday I've updated magisk to version 22, then updated the rom without problems. But I've updated magisk from magisk app not from recovery, so I'm not sure that installing magisk from recovery still works in rn7. Anyway after the rom update, magisk still works correctly. Maybe it's better to ask on the magisk thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/magisk-general-support-discussion.3432382/

mi9t loop to TWRP recovery after install MIUI 11

Hello
today I got an update for MIUI 11 by OTA, I press agree for "UPDATE", my phone restarted to TWRP, it's Installed some files for update, after finished that my phone keep restarting to TWRP recovery again (LOOP)
I tried to download official rom and install by TWRP ,but after finish and restart device still rebooting to TWRP recovery
is there any solution for not losing my data ?
BTW : flash stock rom didn't remove TWRP recovery , why ?
(I download rom from xiaomifirmware [dot] com)
I am not expert on that field but from my knowledge try booting twrp and copy all your files to your pc or laptop (the one you need at least for saving some photos or videos ) then flash a fastboot ROM
And as I said from my knowledge not sure there might be other ways

Your phone was on a custom ROM but you didn't know it? oO
No Official ROM will boot and auto-install in TWRP...
Try to clear "Dalvik/Cache" and if still not booting then you will need to "Format Data" in TWRP (loose data).
If still not working, flash a fastboot image...

Status of TWRP with Android 10 on Mi 9T

Hey
So my bootloader unlock wait time is coming up tomorrow, but this forum is not giving me much hope as all I can see is problems with TWRP constantly being replaced with the stock recovery and general incompatibility (recovery loops or bootloader loops), no one seems to know which of the 10,000 versions of TWRP and OrangeFox (????) recovery to use.
Can anyone clarify what the situation is with Xiaomi Mi 9T or is this phone doomed and its just worth throwing on eBay (a phone without custom recovery and root is absolutely worthless to me).
Thanks a plenty!
Hi!
"TWRP constantly being replaced with the stock recovery"
=> That's nothing to do about Android version: It's a Xiaomi/MIUI boot protection feature. Some TWRP flash a modified VBMeta image, at first TWRP boot, to disable this protection.
- What you can do:
1) Download latest OrangeFox and put ZIP file in phone storage
2) Download latest Official TWRP, flash it via fastboot then hold "Power" and "Vol+" buttons (both) until TWRP is booted
3) Select OrangeFox ZIP file in TWRP and flash it (phone will automatically restart to OrangeFox Recovery).
4) Done! You can now flash latest Magisk version. ^^

You normally don't need to flash VBMeta file.
- Official TWRP => https://dl.twrp.me/davinci/
- Latest OrangeFox (actually "R10.1_1" because "R10.1_2" is a broken version) => https://files.orangefox.tech/OrangeFox-Stable/davinci/
EDIT: Flash "R10.1_1" version over bad "R10.1_2" version if you already downloaded/flashed via my previous MEGA link.

Sorry but this is not teally true - or maybe it's the case for custom roms and/or custom twrps
Using (not alone, you can find several peopke reporting the same):
-QFJEUXM 11m0.4.0 (Global, Stable,v Android 10)
-Official TWRP 3.3.1-0-davinci
Just flash that twrp through fastboot, do not wipe or fornat anything (vbmeta, internal storage, whatever), you will not loose anything and everything will work
And the same holds if twrp is replaced by orangefox (since recently, using R10.1_2)
Eg, when booting to twrp, you will enter your pin/password you use in system for unlocking the screen - and twrp will recognize and work with your encrypted Internal memory (so again, without formatting data, wiping vbmeta or whatever)
However, if you want to use some custom roms whose installation requires to format or wipe something, and/ot to use some custom twrps, that's another story (but not a problem in miui or in the official twrp)

Upgrade from old 9.8.15 to the latest dev build

All right guys, I haven't been active for quite a long time in the past year or so and need some additional help like the title says.
So , what would be the most painless way to get from the old Dev 9.8.15 to the latest dev build ... probably the 20.3.26? (From Android 9 to 10).
A step by step guide would be priceless since no one wants to end getting your phone bricked, right?
So...what? Use miflash an get back to global Rom? If so, which one, and which firmware? Also, what twrp to use, magisk and so on...
Is it possible to use the twrp app for the process ?
Any kind of advice is appreciated.
Cheers!
Sent from my Redmi K20 using Tapatalk
We guess you speak about beta xiaomi.eu custom ROM and not beta China ROM?
- Download latest 20.3.26 (for Redmi K20/Mi 9T devices) => https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261755297
- Download Magisk uninstaller (if you get issues after reinstalling Magisk in new ROM version) => https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v20.4/Magisk-uninstaller-20200323.zip
- Download latest Magisk version => https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v20.4/Magisk-v20.4.zip
Put all these zip files in root of your phone's storage and reboot your phone in TWRP.
1) Flash new ROM version in TWRP. Reboot after finished.
2) Wait phone to boot into system (can take a few minutes).
3) Reboot again in TWRP and flash Magisk zip (NOT uninstaller zip).
4) Reboot your phone, *if your phone fail to boot to system -> do step 5.
*5) Reboot to TWRP and flash Magisk uninstaller zip, then flash Magisk zip again. Reboot your phone.
Nothing difficult... ^^

- Download latest 20.3.26 (for Redmi K20/Mi 9T devices) => https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261755297
- Download Magisk uninstaller (if you get issues after reinstalling Magisk in new ROM version) => https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v20.4/Magisk-uninstaller-20200323.zip
- Download latest Magisk version => https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/download/v20.4/Magisk-v20.4.zip

Just to be clear so i do not hassle day in and day out.
- Since we are speaking about two different android builds, there is no need to revert back to global? Somewhere else "suggested" to do that because of that exact reason. (by that I mean the global fastboot ROM)
- Do i need any specific TWRP build to make it go without any troubles?
- When flashing new ROM i wipe all - anything specific so i don't miss out ? (haven't done it in a while)
for now thanks a lot mon ami.

- You don't need to revert back to global when using xiaomi.eu ROM.
- Use your current TWRP, it should be fine and it will be automatically updated after flashing new xiaomi.eu ROM.
- You don't need to wipe anything. In case of issue after ROM update, you can "Format Data" in TWRP > Reboot TWRP > Put 20.3.26 zip ROM and reflash it (clean flash).

Allright, quick update. Tried to flash as you said.
And almost everything went fine. Phone booted perfectly into new xiaomi.eu dev ROM - Thumbs up!
but, but...there is always a but What ever i do now i cant enter TWRP anymore, what ever i press vol up or down it goes straight into fastboot mode. I suppose i need to reinstall TWRP again? If so what would be the best build reinstall ?

So, just a quick update.
I did all as you described, step by step and now after a few days using the phone i can say....everything well better then i expected. No problems while flashing whatsoever.
Cheers to you and your guide, i suppose the same goes when upgrading to new MIUI12?

Yeap, download and install MIUI 12 Beta zip ROM in TWRP.
After updating to MIUI 12 Beta ROM, you may need to clear all app data of "Updater" app in phone's settings to fix it (if you can't open the Updater to check for OTA updates).

We guess you speak about beta xiaomi.eu custom ROM and not beta China ROM?

Is this guide works with already rooted Mi 9T with unlocked bootloader? I also have an old MIUI with TWRP Recovery and Magisk. I wondering if i could use this guide...?
