There's really nothing you can do, the super slow-mo is terrible on most mid-range and cheap Chinese phones. You also have to remember that super-slow mo requires a ton of light and trying to shoot in low light makes the camera perform worse. Try this small test, shoot in super bright light and you'll see the flickering is almost entirely gone and then shoot in low light, you'll see a big difference in quality.

Front camera in bad light.

A while ago i noticed that when there is good light the front camera is smooth and the vids recorded are okay, but when the light is bad the front camera become quite laggy and the vids recorded are in really bad quality. Is there a way to fix this? Becouse it is really annoying. Apprecitate all the help.
I'm on P8 Lite ALE-L21 B574.
It probably does picture enhancing in real time, so the image looks better. You get better quality but low fps...

Google Pixel - Night Video Test - 1080p60FPS

Hey everyone,
Here's my night time video test using the Google Pixel: https://youtu.be/8Jw9FUB28a0
It's not great when there isn't lighting. With bright artificial lighting the night looks much better. The camera seems to repeatedly focus which can be annoying. Maybe that's because of the fast moving objects?
Let me know what you think.

This is my main and only complaint about the pixel, low light video recording. It is horrible. I'm hoping it is a software issue that can be fixed, but I'm lead to believe it's most likely a hardware issue. The camera can't keep focused for more than a few seconds, everything is always blurry and extremely noisy. It makes no sense because the camera takes amazing pictures and is top notch so why should the video recording quality not be the same???
I have to agree. My Pixel XL is awful in low light, with lots of noise. But the daytime shots are incredible.

[MIUI Camera] Whiteish photos & Failure to detect edge on portrait mode

Hello everyone,
I've been using Mi Note 3 for about two months now. I'm having some issues with my camera.
It takes whiteish photos on the front camera.
On the portrait mode it can't detect the edges properly
Also, there's too much noise on portrait mode
I've used three MIUI Global stable 9.1.x, Epic Rom & now I'm on MIUI premium 9.5 stable.
So, what are your thoughts on this?
Post pictures. On all of them ? I do not have issue woth portrait mode on Mi cam.
Sent from my Mi Note 3 using Tapatalk
1. Fixed since 9.5.3.0
2. Edge cases, most of the time it should work correctly provided the focus is right and lighting is adequate (no, don't try portrait mode in low light especially combined with indoor, the secondary lens is not a low light performer)
3. Same as 2, slow aperture + small pixel is not low light friendly

Google camera is the solution but the stock camera is disappointing!
Hi my brother.
When i take pictures with the Mi Note 3, the images are not clear. Viewing videos or photos, they appear to be drizzled, like the Tvs of yesteryear. This phone has ranking better than the Iphone 7 in question camera, my girlfriend has this Iphone, and is giving 10 to 0 in it. Just for comparison, i got a Redmi 2 and the photos taken by it, is similiar with my Mi Note 3. It could be some software error when they mounted this cell (their screen) or even some ROM problem or the camera.
The photos taken by it on the internet or even in videos of youtubers, do not compare with this cell phone I received.
This may be a specific problem on this phone, but unfortunately this problem happened to me.
How can i fix this problem? I'm really desapointed with the situation.
OBS: It doesn't have the GLOBAL ROM in the Xiaomi website, just CHINESE.
I just wanna know how i can fix the issue.
I can shot some pictures from it for analysing.

Use 9.5+ China/EU ROM. It can still happen depending on your skin tone, though. Yea it's kinda evil to dark skinned people (but you can "fix" that by tapping on the background instead of your face, front camera is fixed focus, tapping won't change the focus, just the exposure).

Settings->My device->All specs->tap kernel version 5 times or until CIT page open->Check version info->scroll to the bottom and take a screenshot. Post here and let's see if you get a fake one or not. Otherwise, just be prepared to get a replacement.

Video quality

Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Huawei P30 Pro come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.

Here are a few samples testing various video modes on the Huawei P30 Pro:

3)AI Colour Mode Video
4)Vintage mode
5)Testing zoom whilst shooting
6)Video zoomed in at 5x

Thank you for the post. Have you noticed any dramatic oversaturation of red on the main camera which causes faces to look sunburned or gives a red tint to the overall picture? Do you have the latest update .124 installed?

You say correct"PRO" Photophone" not video.
Shame.. ... or not(Im ok with video quality) huawei need more work on video recording(Bitrate, color, stable framrate)
When u change the lens during the recording is terrible.
I came from a galaxy s9+ and I'm really disappointed.
Does Huawei has night mode for video or its just for photos?
If it's not for videos, Does anyone know any phone that supports night mode for video as well?
Why can't I turn the eis off.... The field of view Is really not good..
I think video quality leaves much to be desired if lightning conditions are not optimal.

Google photos not too good to demonstrate video quality...
Just waiting for either ROOT or Huawei to unlock the Camera2.API so we can use filmic pro, LOG capturing and higher bitrates will improve the video quality to no end. Yet, Huawei ignore all requests for the C2.API and have done for years.
Video zoom issue
Guys, I recently baught P30 pro. I faced a peculiar problem. When l am taking a video in wide mode and then use the zoom button, first press takes it to 1x (from 0.6x of wide), second press takes it to 5x and third press takes it to 10x. When I press the button again it takes it back to wide angle. But between switch from 10x to wide there is an instant of very disturbed and pixelated video before wide angle takes over. This is not there between any other zoom switching (0.6x to 1x, 1x to 5x, 5x to 10x). Anybody facing the same issue?

Don't press, slide
Problem with sliding is between 1x and 5x which is a digital zoom and gets heavily pixelated. I also noticed that the problem happens when I jump from 10x to wide. Not from 10x to 1x.
What do guys think of the 1080p 60 fps quality?
For me, I find it worse!
It loses the details and textures when on this mode. It's even worse when in low light situation.

Selfie quality

You're beautiful and everyone knows it. That's why you take selfies. Rate this thread to express how the front-facing camera of the ASUS ZenFone 7 performs. A higher rating indicates that the front camera produces fantastic results consistently.

7 Pro User here:
Selfies in good to moderately low light are very good. Sadly there is not option to un-mirror the image, so you will always end up with your mirror image (something I do not appreciate). Detail is very good and beautification can be turned off completely. In very low light colors are rather muted. Flash images have a very cold color temperature. This is not state of the art, where good camera software usually can compensate for that and give nice, natural image even with LED flash.

"save as mirrored photo" setting
See attached pic.
Interestingly this option is not available on my device. I did all available updates.
Selfie should be better with a gcam port.
Gcam is overated big time.. Many missing features in gcam that is exclusive to this phone. for example you cant choose the 120hz or 60hz or wideangle or even the macro lens in the video or pic mode on Gcam.. The factory app just gives you all those best options..
HOWEVER
In low light or dim light I find the factory camera will often try to focus in and out every second or 2 and makes the video look like its being shaked around. When using Gcam it wont do that. So be sure to turn on a light or maybe try using manual mode which does a very good job but takes some time to fine tune.
Other than that focus issue in low light this camera is the best I ever seen. very impressive.. Video is super smooth. Choose H.265 to get the best quality and lower memory card usage..
