Outdoor visibility (max brightness) - ASUS ROG Phone II Real Life Review

Rate this thread to express how well you can see the ASUS ROG Phone II's display outdoors. In case you've been playing Minecraft for 18 months straight, you might not known how to get outside anymore. Well, find the door and walk through it. A higher rating indicates that it has very high maximum brightness and thus fantastic outdoor visibility in direct sunlight.

Outside
The screen struggles to be easily visible under bright sunlight. I love the phone but this is a bit lacking and not a big deal for me

I can't find the food mode -_-

needs full brithness to see outside on a sunny day.

Room for improvement
Not sure if its the colour profile I have setup. However the phone performs perfectly well under the majority of lighting conditions. EXCEPT in bright/ direct sunlight. In which case the display is a little hard to read if the text is too small.
I only noticed this while driving and using the phone to navigate using google maps. I could see the arrow and directions clearly, however had to squint to see some of the finer details on display.

outdoors display has improved alot compared to other Honor devices.
But is it easily viewable in harsh sun? This is an essential point for me
It depend of screen manufacturer. My friend's honor 10 is ok. Myne is unviewable under sun.. I'm disapointed
it's far from great, it's OK, but for sure I've seen much brighter displays
No good visibility with outdoor light. Almost can't see the screen when using it as a GPS in my car.
Lot worse with EMUI10?
I have the feeling the phone has became unusable outdoor when the weather is very sunny. Am I the only one?

Not a really good performer here. If under the sun, it has a mild visibility. compared to my Nokia 8, It looks pale.
When outdoors on the shadow, it does looks good, just be sure to have the auto brightness on, or enable the outdoor switch on.

It works quite good on me. I can clearly see the display on sunlight (I'm turning on my auto brightness). Well, just a little con, I personally think it adjusts the brightness a little bit too long (delayed maybe ~1 second). It's not a big con, but still, sometimes I find it a bit annoying.

Many a reviewers claim that it's screen has poor sunlight legibility. And reviewing a photo taken in bright outdoor condition is difficult, as reported. How's it in real life? Any workaround?
its ok and legible in direct sunlight but the colors will look washed out
Display and buld quantity got hit by cost cutting
I'd give it a 4/5. It's not bad at all but it's not something to write home about either.
I have read that it has many reflections. It is true?
Really interested in this topic
I'm a DJI drone pilot and for me is very important the brightness outdoors
Good visibility

I am using it from past 1 month. Under direct sunlight it's look like little bit dull. But it is not much a considerable problem. I never felt any visibility problem under direct sunlight.
Screen is pretty legible in the brightest sunlight and trust me I know , Mumbai after monsoon has the brightest sunlight.
Dunno why somebody will look for exact reproduction of colours in brightest light , well maybe .01% might and for them I don't think ant display will suffice.

No issues. Very bright IMO in direct sunlight.
It's a bit brighter than my S8. The slider is less intuitive, I had to turn off auto to take over and push it. Very bright for a phone.

I've been playing minecraft for 18 months and I don't really want to go outside but when I do I can see the screen well enough.
Dim screen at maximun brightness when outdoor
I just have this device for a week.
Today i used the Google Map for direction while on motorbike. It's cloudy (no sun), and I have difficulties to see the screen even at the maximum brightness.
I don't know, maybe it's me as i am used to see my old and much cheaper Samsung Galaxy J1 maximum brightness where during day time (on my motorbike) even with the sun shines so bright I can easily see the screen.
A bit disappointed with my new Realme 5 Pro for it's maximum brightness.
Thank you for the thread.
