Help! OnePlus 6T bricked/won't turn on [T-MOBILE] - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Need Help! GF gave me her 1+6T, carrier locked to T-mobile. I have AT&T, so I attempted to unlock the device using this link :
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.xd...nternational-without-unlocked-bootloader/amp/
I read, followed, re-read the instructions. I kept getting the error 'Sahara communication failed'. I tried all 3 USB ports and made sure i had the correct drivers installed. The phone shows up and connects in the tool, then it gives me the error after starting the patch. Next i unplugged the phone and found it to be bricked. it wont turn on. I tried holding down the power button for 20 seconds, used button combinations, nothing. Yet it still shows up on my computer when plugged in using volume +/-
I tried using this method to unbrick:
https://www.xda-developers.com/unbrick-oneplus-6t-t-mobile-international/
Still bricked, and still gives me the same error.
What can i do? Please assist, my girlfriend is going to be pissed if i can't get this working lol. I need to get the phone working again + unlock to get my at&t sim card working on it. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I got the phone on!!! Now I just need getting the phone unlocked. Still getting the 'Sahara communication failed' error
**EDIT 2 : EVERYTHING IS SOLVED AND WORKING NOW YOU CAN DELETE THIS

Mine gives the usb device malfunctioned error. I have installed the qualcomm usb drivers. The MSM tool wont recognize it, and my phone wont boot in any other mode except EDL. It will not boot to bootloader or anything. Funny thing is, all I was trying to do was convert the T-Mobile version to international which I've done before. During that process, it hung at "recording downloading time". I let it go for 20 minutes, according to the guide it is supposed to take 5. I canceled the process, (I had done this one other time before, and it booted just fine) and now nothing works. Please help.

I think I bricked my ppc 6700

I wuz flashing it went to 99% and gave me an error so I reset and it wuz still stuck so I took out the battery and now it won't do anything when I plug it into the pc it says unrecognized usb device is there anyway to get the pc to recognize it so I can fix it any help is appreciated
bootloader
Put it into the bootloader, the PC wont recognize the device until you flash it again, but you should be able to fix it. Get into the bootloader by pressing the power key and the voice commander button (looks like an old tape) at the same time and while holding, press the soft reset button on the bottom. This should put you into the bootloader mode, (the backlight does not light up, it just says bootloader and USB or SERIAL in faint writing depending if you have it attached to your PC)
invoking boot loader
Yes...I had a similar issue yesterday and thought to use the button sequence to force the bootloader. The other thing I had to do was get a flashlight and note the bootloader version of 2.05. I then ran the latest update tool from one of the kitchens and that allowed me to load the image of choice that I placed in the same folder.
how did you do it?
I used UNI_bootloader EXIT.exe to get mine back. same situation, v2.05 bootloader, unplugged at 99%. stuck at v2.05. run the exe, and its fine.
Sadly enough i need to post this.. i have both the 6800 and the 6700, i did the same thing twice ... starting with the 6800, had no problem fixing that one, but the 6700 for some reason after a stock rom flash that didnt take completely its stuck saying Serial (top), 1.00 (bottom) , tried uni_bootloader, tried reflashing, for some reason it cannot catch the device, however, the drivers are loaded just fine, that much i know it worked before. any ideas on how to kick start this thing ( i have no memory card at all in it , havent been able to find a miniSD around here anywhere ). Any ideas would greatly help. Thanks in advance.

Rogers focus stuck in loop... Any ideas?

I too have a focus that is stuck in a loop at the Samsung logo. I bought it like that thinking I might be able to resurrect it as another toy. I have had lots of experience with Samsung, HTC and Sony droid phones, this would be the first WP.
It is a I917R on Rogers, there is no hardware revision under battery. I am assuming it is V1.3 as I have only seen software for the that version posted. I do not know how the phone got to its present state. They just said it happened during normal use?
I can get to both download mode and factory reset. I have flashed the stock rogers files without errors, but I never get the screen connecting to pc. The phone just restarts after successfully flashing, only to reboot continuously. I have been able to install MAGLDR and flashed every v1.3 ROM i could download. All without errors, just the same outcome they all just keep displaying Samung logo and then reboot. Only thing I noticed is that when I flash MAGLDR and custom ROMs it takes the phone longer to reboot.
I never get the connect to pc if I hold camera and power, nor do I ever get that screen when I flash a ROM.
Not sure if situation is similar... I am puzzled?
Your situation is very similar with other folks' here, unfortunately. It's not clear what causes it and there's no solution as of yet. For some, re-flashing worked. For others, a new battery. Most are stuck on loop...
When you connect the phone to USB when in download mode, what do you get?
When I boot to download mode I can flash Rom with WP7. I get to the yellow triangle download mode and flashes ok, no errors. Just noticed that it never goes to connect to pc mode.
Same with when I format, no connect to pc mode.
Nothing I try seems to help.

I see. What messages do you get when you connect the phone to the PC via USB, in either mode?
No messages, just shows up as Samsung USB composite device, Samsung mobile modem and Samsung mobile modem diagnostic serial port in download mode.
In magldr it shows up add Microsoft USB sync.
The only thing I forgot to mention was that when I flash with WP7 it finished without error in 90 seconds, but on the phone it says it will take 10 minutes.
Not sure what more I can add...
You could try different downloaders. Please see this thread for 7.41 downloader, maybe that helps?
Tried both, same outcome... No errors, just keeps rebooting... No Connect to PC message.
Im having the same problem. And i can see many other people who are having the same issue also. So i think its time to dump those phones, not worth a penny. The one i have in here was actually working, i followed all the directions in order to flash it. And still the phone got stuck into that bootloop. Its ridiculous from what i can see. I think ive read once you put that SDmini in it the phone will use it for the OS. But the one i had was working actually without it, i could turn it off as many times as i wanted and nothing happened. But if i tried a factory reset data would stay and diagnosis mode wasnt working. So i decided to flash it. Big, huge mistake! Hope you have better luck than i did. Because im dumping this one....
Same problem here, ive checked a couple of threads and no solution so far

Non Hacked/Rooted 6p Shut Off And Will Not Turn On

bought this phone used and I don't think it was rooted but never checked, confirmed. Last night it turned off and will not turn on anymore..
Tried the pwr button for several minutes and no change. Plugged it in with several different cables and no change.
Any other suggestions or options? USB to computer detects something but says it can't install the driver.
Any ideas?

Can you enter to the bootloader menu? Maybe you can enter recovery and wipe the cache and dalvik

negative, either the phone is totally dead or the screen is dead but NOTHING happens when pwr is pressed
here is what I have tried:
1. Press and hold PWR button for over 3minutes
- Plugged in and unplugged into ac - no change
2. Press and hold volume DOWN + Pwr for over 3minutes
- Plugged in and unplugged into ac - no change
3. Plugged into different a/c power outlets with 2 different chargers - no change
NOT sure what else to try or do?
Funny thing is if ya plug into a computer it does indeed detect "something'
However it says it can't load the USB drivers something about QU_***
Open to any ideas and suggestions.. WHILE I would love to get the phone working whats more high priority for me now is the 20gb's of pics that apparently did NOT back up.

Funny thing is- that "something" is the solution to your problem. Capture the error message completely and search the 6P forums for that. Several threads on the "something" issue.

fixed that issue, aka QHSUSB_BULK is now working properly according to Device Manager.. but Nexus 6P is not detected, and doesn't even show up in Disk Management either.
Any other ideas?
please advise..

If you found the right EDL_9008 thread, there is Qualcomm software to download for your PC. If your phone is in the right downloader mode you can use the PC software with a special recovery.img. I don't know anything about it, just read through the threads long ago. It's a mixed bag with some success stories, some not. Keep looking though, I think you are on the right track. The original poster was "Tenfar" if I recall correctly. Good luck.
Try cleaning out the charging port.
Hi there,
I think we are in the same/similar boat. My phone shut off while using it (screen froze, then went black) and seems to have bricked itself. I *am* able to get mine to turn on, but only about once per day after it has been left plugged in for a few hours (although there is no indication it is charging while plugged in - never gets warm, no lights, etc.) I can get into recovery if I am lucky (usually get to the android bot laying on its back, then PWR+VOLUP just causes the phone to shut off instead of actually getting into recovery menu.) I've been able to clear cache/factory wipe from recovery menu with no luck. I never did unlock the bootloader so I am unable to use fastboot to do anything. I tried to flash a few OTA (full and incremental) images using adb when I am able to get into recovery, but they always failed in one way or another.
I've been trying the methods described in the 'tenfar' threads - using the xiaomi flasher and QPST tools. The xiaomi tool always fails for me. I have been able to get the QFIL tool to successfully 'download' about 3 times now, with tenfar's recovery images. However, after the success message, the phone doesn't do anything (I read in other threads it should reboot itself) - and after unplugging, the behavior of the device seems to be the same - just stuck and won't turn on at all.
Right now I think I am stuck in 'EDL' mode where the only evidence that the device isn't completely dead is that it shows up in device manager as 'Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3)', and the factory imager tools do recognize it.
It *seems* like the only way forward is to somehow get one of these factory tools to flash the right set of files onto the device - I've tried a few now with no luck. I even tried extracting the relevant *.img files out of the google factory image download and replacing tenfar's image files with them. I was able to load those onto the device with QFIL. This morning my attempt at turning on the device has me stuck on the white google logo, which is new behavior for me - usually it shows the logo for ~5-10 seconds then the device powers off. I've left it on for a while stuck on the white google image, but I'm not sure if I'm doing anything useful here.
Here are my reference threads:
tenfar's 'debrick' thread
QFIL thread
If anyone has any crazy ideas, I am open to try them. Thank you.
Maybe disable big cores?

I have the 100% same issue. Screen froze, then went black and now its stuck in EDL mode. I need my data. Recovery access or anything else would be fine/enough for me. I have had LineageOS and TWRP on the device. With TWRP i can access my data.
How have you got your device on? Mine dont start once a day or so. Its always in EDL mode ( 9008 ).

Sorry bud - I never was able to get any further than when I posted this. I eventually gave up, got a full out of warranty refund through my CC after the manufacturer wouldn't help me at all, and upgraded to a Pixel XL. I still do have the device, I should try to boot it up again . I didn't have any data concerns on my device so I was able to give up... good luck!

[Help] XT1768 wont load into bootloader or recovery

Hey,
So yesterday I decided to finally tinker with my phone. My main issue was that the Wifi kept disconnecting on it's own for no damn reason but no other device would do it. Found out it's a thing with the E4 and the option for disconnecting on a bad connection wasn't there.
At anyrate, I unlocked the bootloader and flashed TWRP. Then things started to go sour. While trying to root the phone, I ended up with no ROM. Tried a couple of different ones. Lineage OS, Resurrection Remix but none could get past the boot animation. Eventually I found the correct (I think) ROM for my phone. I'm in Canada and on Freedom Mobile so I went with the Retail Perry OS from here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/perry/official/RETAIL/
I tried installing with TWRP but it said invalid ZIP file so I found another way. Using instructions from https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e4/help/rsd-lite-device-connecting-t3671647 I used the rsdlite motorola xml to batch script file thing mentioned. Phone finally worked again! Went about installing the bits and bobs. Was working for a few hours and then I decided to update. I had used an older version of the firmware when the zip file was coming up as invalid in TWRP. The first two or three updates went fine. Downloaded, installed, restarted, fine. Then during one it just... stopped. I think it was restarting last I saw but I didn't even see the "Updating" animation page. The battery was over 60% minimum.
I've tried holding down all the buttons for 4 minutes, I've tried booting into recovery, into bootloader. Nothing. The screen stays black. Not even an animation for charging.
About a half an hour ago I tried plugging it into my computer. Initially there was a response by the PC. A popup came up and said something about Qualcomm <name> being successfully installed or updated. It went so quickly I didn't get a chance to read it. I went looking through My PC trying to find the device and see if I could access the files on it but there was nothing. So I unplugged it. Now I don't even get the Qualcomm thing. Device manager says that it was unable to be identified and I just get a notification saying USB is unrecognized. I've tried uninstalling and updating drivers in Device Manager to no avail. I'm out of ideas. Any thoughts from anyone?
Edit: While having the phone plugged into my PC if I try to access the bootloader mode by holding down the buttons for a longer period of time, my computer responds with noises. Mostly it's just the USB removed noise, but occasionally one sounds off if a new USB device is plugged in.

Sounds like you hard bricked it. I had the same thing happen with my E4 Plus. Not sure why this is happening with certain updates even without being rooted or trying to install ota's with stock recovery as you should do. I managed to get mine working again with this tutorial here but you need the right files for your specific device

The correct img may be floating around these threads somewhere.

Hard Bricked OnePlus 6t Tmobile Version

I have a Tmobile OnePlus 6T, hard bricked.
Mine gives the usb device malfunctioned error. I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the qualcomm usb drivers. It recognizes the phone in the device manager as USB DEVICE DESCRIPTION FAILED. I am not a noob at this. I can restore through fastboot if I could get it to boot into fastboot. I could restore through recovery via sideload if I could get it to boot into recovery. Please help.
*Moderators, I have searched high and low through the forums and I cannot find a thread with this problem that has any steps to solve it. I found one thread with a similar description but it is a year old, has no replies and the author managed to fix his phone on his own, with no description of how he did so.*

The other of the previous post probably figured out how to get the device recognized by the computer. I would say see if you can use another computer/cable and see if it still has the same issue, if it does i'd probably be concerned about the device health. If the issue is gone on the other PC though then you likely have something wrong with either drivers or usb hardware on your PC. I would assume you've already tried using a different USB cable and port with your current PC.
