Yes, codename is lavender so it's the same phone in everything
Yes, i think it changes only the name depending on the region, but hardware is the same
It's EXACTLY the same. The Indian regular Redmi Note 7 doesn't have the 48mp Samsung sensor, while other regions have it. Xiaomi decided to add the 48mp sensor to the Indian variant and thus it was renamed to 7s. I heard Xiaomi stopped the production of the Indian RN7 without the 48mp sensor.

I can see the one available in India is k33a42 and Lenovo India website and FLipkart both don't mention the presence of Compass sensor / Magnetometer in it but GSMArema says this phone has compass sensor.

There were 2 models of redmi 3 that were launched in India, My brother has one of those, and now wants to try custom roms.
It is the variant, that DOES not have the fingerprint reader, but has a snapdragon 430. I believe land has the FP reader, and ido has SD 616.
I'm having trouble figuring out if it is ido, or land, confusing for me. Any help will be much appreciated.

Both are same device LAND. Only difference is FP reader, Ram & Rom... You can definitely try custom roms build for land on 3s/3s Prime..

Is there any ROM development for the note 7?
I would have thought with sources released a little while we would have started to see a few builds start to pop up?
I know im being a bit of a begging chooser here (as i ask being fully aware i cant contribute any expertise to any project.
Only GSIs for now. And i think there will be none custom roms...only a chinese TWRP.

I think because of the same device codename, a custom ROM for "lavender" will have camera drivers, patches for both Redmi Note 7 Global/China and Redmi Note 7 India.

If am right, only RN7 has Indian and Global version. RN7S is same everywhere.

Used an app on playstore call AIDA64 , scroll to system then you can see the section Device xxxxx thats your model, im attach some image for you
