What You Guy's Think ? - Google Pixel 4 Questions & Answers

Which will be the secondary camera of Pixel 4 and 4 XL ???
Telephoto or wide angle ??
And
What you guy's prefer ??
I prefer wide angle instead of telephoto lens that's my choice:silly: what's your choice ???

Wide angle...

Widee angle

Had wide angle on my LG G5, just ended up using as a quick alternative to panoramic.
Telephoto for me.

Wide angle but They'll put the telephoto lens as the secondary camera.

Wide and wide selfie

I prefer telephoto...I'm a detail freak.

Personally, I don't like all the effort put into cameras on phones. If I want to take nice pictures, I break out the DSLR.

Telephoto is awesome, happy with this instead of wide angle.

Can you use the wide angle (back) camera to take selfies?

Hi all - it sounds like the front (selfie) camera does not take the best pics.
One of the uses I wanted for the G6 is to use the back camera (the wide angle one) to take selfies instead.
I won't be able to see the screen, but with the wide angle lens, I don't really need to do much framing I'm guessing.
The only thing that I'm concerned about is the lack of auto focus and if the wide angle camera can focus on subjects about 1 metre away from them.
Does anyone have a G6 who could comment / or post a sample pic of this? This is pretty much the dealbreaker for me to get this phone.
Cheers!
I'm interested in the same question! Would be great if anyone could comment on this, hence bumping this thread.
Yes. Front facing camera is not as good as it should be. Specially in low light situation...
This, and lack of LED notification light are the biggest flaw to me
Back cameras takes good selfies though. I don't have any problem with framing or autofocus. Does a good job with defocusing background and shaking effect is at minimum thanks to new image stabilizing system.
Hope this help you
Cheers
Someone here at xda calculated that all things between 35cm and infinity are in Focus for the wide angle camera.
I also made some tests and I think that he is not totaly wrong with his 35cm.
So taking selfies should be ok.

Rare 'fish-eye' effect on wide angle photos

Hello mates! I've had mi G6 for around 3 weeks and I love it. But the wide angle camera does some strange fish eye efect on the borders of it.
I uploaded one with the regular mode and another with the wide angle mode to make a comparison of both.
What do you suggest? Talk with the sellers?
Thx in advance.

I thought it's supposed to happen in wide angle mode!

That means that it is a normal behavior?
Yeah its normal
Haha yeah. That's how it works.
If you take a picture of a big panorama or something, you'll see it looks much better.
That's why the normal camera is used for up close normal photography.
Yeah.... wide angle lenses will have barrel distortion... that fish-eye effect... There is really not much you can do about it. Think about it, when it's taking that pic, the image it sees isn't 'flat', it's looking at a large arc, a 120-degree arc, then projecting what is essentially a curved image onto the flat sensor in the camera. Every wide angle camera lens will do this, and the wider the angle, the greater the distortion.
Now, your eye has a larger field of view, why don't we see the same distortion? Well, ignoring the fact that the human brain is one of the most powerful image processing engines in existence and will compensate for a LOT of junk, your eye's sensor, your retina, is also curved.
There are some tools you can use in photo editing applications that can reduce the distortion, and they stretch out the corners. Now, if you took that wide angle photo and then projected it on the inside of a sphere, you wouldn't see any distortion.
The main camera sensor is also distorted, but it's a much more narrow field of view, so the distortion is not nearly as prominent. But if you look at the margins of the pictures you take, you will still see some of that distortion.

Is my front facing camera ****?

Gidday folks, just got this awesome new phone but I'm incredibly concerned about the front facing camera... See my attached pics and let me know.
Excuse the ug face...
The front facing camera on the G6 isn't brilliant. To get the best possible image quality from it it's best to use the wide angle setting as the zoomed setting is just a crop of the wide angle image.
The front camera is definitely one of its weak points though.

Don't know why LG reduced from 8mp to 5mp to the front camera? Use the rear wide angle camera and use it for selfies.

Pixel Camera for wide angle lens?

Pixel Camera with HDR+ is great for our V20s! Now that the Pixel Camera APK is available to all of us, has anyone found out a way to make our wide angle lens work for it? Or make the app detect our wide angle cams? So we get HDR+ for our wire angle lenses too. ?
waiting for someone to reply.I want it too for my lg g5

does Telephoto lens really works?

Hi is it just me that when i take 2x zoom photo,it doesn't use the telephoto lens or in this case the camera on the left one,i tried to covered it up with my finger but its doesn't affect anythings, its all work in wide lens, camera on the right one either i took 1x or 2x zoom.
But i noticed when in portrait mode it does the job
In XDA review it was mentioned, that telephoto lens is used only in high light scenes (sunny and outdoors), otherwise the phone is using only digital zoom.

Thanks man its explain everything
Yeah when you click on the 2x it doesn't seem to work...but there's a work around..go to manual and change the lens ...it'll work fine...just keep everything in Auto and use it.
