Pleasantly surprised by the speakers since they are facing down. Just as loud as the Pixel 3 XL.

Superb. Even better than on the Pixel 3 for me. Sound is really crisp and not overdriven in certain frequency ranges. And loud enough as well.

Here's an interesting review of Coral's audio I came across the other day... https://www.dxomark.com/google-pixel-4-audio-review/
Personally, I find the speaker's performance to be quite good and better than the Pixel 2 XL's front facing speakers.

I did a side by side comparison when I was selling my 2XL and there's no comparison. The 4 XL is louder and has more range. I thought I would miss two front-facing speakers but I don't.

Can you please clarify. Are you saying that with Android Beta 11 on both the Pixel 4 XL and Pixel 3 (non-XL) the Pixel 3 is louder?

With pixel 4xl on the Beta 11 and pixel 3 on Android 10 with no beta , the sound is noticebly louder on the pixel.
I'm curious if anyone else experienced this as well or if this is an off case?
Try it out yourselves.

Well I've never had a Pixel 3 but I have not noticed any decrease in volume in YouTube or YouTube Music at max volume. Both are plenty loud.

Trebles and fx are good, but holy s**t basses are almost inexistent if heard by the speaker! Even with headphones i have to say that the volume looks lower compared to Sammy phones volumes

Just a little bit netter than the honor 5x.
not good. Speaker is not loud enough to listen to a song without headphone. My Honor 4X and 5X are having better loudness than this. This is one of the low point in this phone.

You must be kidding or haven't used the phone. Loudspeaker volume is bad than many other phones, even low budget phones.
Speaker is not that loud that it should be.

Yup thats a letdown here
Average i say
Not bad than low end phones but competition have much better and loud speakers as well as headphones
Loudness is there. Clarity is not,
not good at all....
Sufficiently loud.
The speaker is decently loud but has a bit of distortion.

ive heard that all honor phones have less audio output via aux!! don't know about v10.. maybe due to AI processor it might be better..
Yeah i would like to know about it. Sending back an honor 8 pro mainly because of the low quality audio (in my opinion).
I have bought V10. Audio not great but just okish for casual listening. So does other phones in same price category. I may buy portable external dac/amp . That's the right way to get good audio
Is it loud from the bottom speakers like mi A1?
Could you please check eith that

Yes. It's a bit more bassy for my taste. It's like boomy. So i enabled histen audio and reduced bass under Equalizer
am a basshead and used iphone 6 , mi note 4 & lg g3 before. v10 with sony xb950bt. bt music sounds gr8. with the wire and histen non 3d mode it better. I also use a eq app which works with bt. checked new gen dj songs, bollywood numbers, mj, floyd etc and its good. no distortion but yes bassy. u wont get iphone level clarity but its not also not mi note 4 or 7x ish
The loudspeaker is so low and awful in this phone.it's fluctating and buggy, but with earbuds and headphones it is perfect and bassy.

Friend I am also with this problem my BKL-L09 is with the bug in the sound that gets so low that it is very difficult to listen in videos or calls I am in version 8.0.0.130 c432. Did you have any solutions?
For me loud enough as I don't use speaker much for music but when I do, it does normal as I know I am using phone and not the woofer.

The audio quality is fine here. It gets plenty loud, but you will hear some distortion at max volume.

Unfortunately P20 doesn't have stereo speaker like Pro version and sound is just standard and average and nothing special.
Unfortunately i didnt know about it before i got my phone ;_; this suck. Mono speaker is terrible

For me it's sufficient. If I want more I hook it up to my jbl charge 3.
Sound coming out of the single speaker is kind of thin but clear and loud enough for talking head videos and games. Bass is almost completely lacking, but hey... Use headphones for music.
Loud enough, but muffled sound (low clarity). The Honor 10 even with single grill has better clarity in my opinion. The only real downside of P20 sadly.
I have to disagree with everyone here and say I believe the speaker to be very good. I've owned all the latest flagships including P20 pro, s9, iPhone X, one plus 6.
The speaker in my opinion is very good for a single speaker. It's as loud if not louder than many and the depth and range of sound is good .
Obviously stereo speakers would be nice but this does not do bad for a single speaker.

Do you suppose that I have a defective phone since even without comparison to another phone (such as the Honor 10), I can tell the speaker sounds relatively unclear and muffled, especially in low-medium volume.

I'm very interested in this as I'm considering replacing my Pixel 2 XL and the speakers on the Pixel kind of suck.
If you feel the Pixel 2 speakers are bad you will not like the OP6 for sure, they are mono and they are horrible at loud volumes.. I am surprised you dont like the Pixel 2 speakers because they have the best ones out of the premium manufacturers
To me, the OnePlus 3 to 5T have always had amazing speakers for what they are. If you compare it to similar setups it blows everything out of the water. It's punchy and clear until you hit around 90% volume. Let's hope the OP6 stays the same.
Reviews about op6 speakers have not been good. Some reviewers told that the only weakness op6 has is its speakers. Maybe because of using some thin protective layer to prevent water from going inside.

Well yeah, when comparing to my old 3T, it's somewhat worse. Like you said, propably because of those protective layers for water.
Do you guys also have cracking on loud volume? To be honest I'm very disappointed with this speaker, however I'm not sure if I have faulty device or it just is how it is

Than you never have a phone with good speaker. OP3 was crap, compare to other phones like Mate 9 oder 10.

Um, no. My OP5 has punchy and sustained bass without distortion (until you turn the volume up to max, the sound profile changes at 90% volume to deliver louder tones, thus also distorting slightly), but at 80% it still manages to be much louder than any other phone with a similar speaker arrangement. The speaker has good bass and perfect mids.
It's a similar experience to one of those LG phones with the "1W speaker driver". I like the speaker for what it is.
bluetooth speakers placed strategically around the house
problem solved.
i think it is low. My oneplus 5 was recently stolen and that is why i ended up buying the 6. First think i noticed when playing the audio was how low the volume was. My roommates have the 5 and 5T and i played the a video in fb app in 5,5T and 6 and 5 and 5T was louder than the 6. FYI, 5 and 5T runs on the xxx no limits ROM.
So i am not sure if that is affecting the audio in anyway
For a single speaker set-up, it's good clarity and loudness.
When compared to my previous Galaxy Note 5 with the same set-up, it's garbage. Maybe my device is faulty, I don't know...
It's ok. Really wished they have front facing speaker in the notch
Compared with the my Mate 10 Pro it is really awful. Way more distortion, no depth, no stereo.

That's useful to know - don't want to derail the thread but how do they compare otherwise to you? Moved to Mate 10 Pro from Oneplus One and loving the battery and speakers, but half considering trading it in for a OP6 because of various software glitches (particularly bluetooth issues) - especially now Huawei are locking bootloaders so that future support is likely to be limited.
Quality is pretty awful but it's loud enough. I gave it 3 stars because it serves its purpose. I do listen to music through the speaker a lot so it's kind of disappointing but I'll take a crap speaker and a lot of good features over all the crap wrong with my last phone.

I'm personally glad they save the money on stupid stuff I don't care for. Maybe other people have different preferences but I want my money in the camera, display, build quality, and firmware support.
I'd much rather they save money on stuff I don't have to use like the speaker phone (buy a cheap bluetooth speaker, it's 10x better than any integrated speaker in even the $1100 flagships), stupid gimmicks like edge display that I believe samsung has now abandoned, etc. No big loss to me. This phone is awesome.
Dude, there is no great display, no great camera and no good speaker. Maybe for a 300$ device but not for a flagship!
Anyway... in this thread we talk about speaker and even Redmi 3 Pro speaker (100$ device and years ago) sound better than this one.
It sound cheap and this is it. It's for sure not good and even not OK, because it's loud and this is it.
To say "it's good" means you have no other devices to compare this.

Same Loudness like S10+ But S10+ Sounds like Better compared to Note 10+.
On the N10+ the bottom speaker appears to be slightly louder. This is apparent at high levels. I suspect this is accounted for in its speaker design: the top speaker doesn't have the benefit of a big grill.
May I ask you guys where you were able to test this? Was this at Unpacked? What kind of environment were you in when you tested it? I hope its better than the Note 9 because that about half the volume of my iPhone XS. Barely could hear people unless at max earpiece volume, and playing music over the speaker was almost pointless unless in a super quiet room. Thanks!
definitely much louder than note 9, just upgraded from it to 10+
Not much but it is louder and with reacher sound. Spotify, phones near each other and same song resumed on bouth phones (best test for loudnes for me)! Btw I have note 10 (not +) but as I saw, bouth are the same with speakers.

much louder than my prior note 9 and s10 plus.
It's not the speaker phone quality thats an issue for me, it's the earpiece for taking phone calls. If your in a noisey enviroment, there's no way to hear the call, it's all low frequencies and no top end
