Wow someones having fun just posting negative comments on a bunch of the Pixel 4 XL threads. It's not the fastest out there but it's far from garbage.
The Pixel 4 XL charges faster than the Pixel 2 XL when it was originally released. For the Pixel 2 XL, 80-100% was painfully slow.

That's not bad. Going from 0-100% in 1:38. That's almost an hour faster than my Pixel 2 XL for a bigger battery. My Pixel 2 XL goes from 0% to 80% in like 1:15. The last 20% takes like an hour. Although, to be honest, I don't mind slower charging most of the time since it is better for long term battery life.

Yeah I only do fast charging in my car and if I'm at 15% mid day randomly. I use a slower charging brick for overnight charging because I like starting at 100% during my work days.

Fast charging feels quite good considering it is "only" 18W.

How has everyones battery lasted for them so far?

When playing games like fallout shelter and such for a few hours and some calls and messages, it is lasting me the entire day.
So I tried recently without playing any games and just using it for browsing the web, phone/texting stuff and I am on day 3 with 20% battery.
Very happy with the battery life of this phone.
Amazing! The battery life is flat amazing... And getting better... I've noticed that after 5 charges it got at least 10% better...
Very satisfied

It lasts longer than my Nexus 6P, which I expected. I get about 24 hours with decent usage (some video streaming, but mostly listening to podcasts), compared to 12 hours on my 6P.
Mines lasted 12 hours to 10% with 5 hours screen on. It's on a par with my Sony which had the best battery life I've had in a smart phone so far
I think it's pretty poor, having come from a Honor 4x.
I liked the way on my Honor that it killed and kept down battery intensive apps.
Is there a non-root equivalent of this for the Moto?
My battery life is great satisified
Battery life is great I only use the moto when I leave the house otherwise I'm on tablet or laptop or PC or most likely on all 3 lol but the moto been lasting a solid 6 days with about a 1:45 of screen on time.
My battery has been amazing. Got 1day and over 4hrs screen on time
Tmobile Note4...Marshmallowed
3-4 SoT, not bad considering that my previous phone only ever managed to get 2 hours SoT.
I'm totally happy with the battery life. I put it on the turbo-power charger at bedtime, usually with more than half a charge left, after using all day. It's the best battery life I've had in a smart phone.
I'm getting excellent battery life!!
I would post pics but as a new member I cant until the 10 post limit.
I charged at 11pm on July 29th, and lasted me until next charge today at 10am August 1st.
Thats 59 hours!!
However I didnt use it much, screen time on was 3hr37mins and about 3 hours of listening to podcasts with the screen off.
And I'm really liking the turbo charging, from about 5% battery to full in 90mins.
The G4's battery life has been great for me so far! I upgraded from a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 after parts of the screen stopped responding to touch and Vodafone refused to fix it. I was unsure the G4 could beat the immense battery life on that thing, but I'm pleasantly surprised! I can get through a full day with some YouTube, games, and a lot of reading.
I don't game and mostly use the phone for light browsing, texting, and calls. I'm very happy with the battery life so far.
My battery has been amazing. 2days 5hrs screen time.

Yeah, about that, I definitely think there is something wrong with my unit. About to get rid of it and go back to my Moto X Pure Edition... [emoji25] [emoji26] [emoji27]

My battery lasts all day poor at charging tho
I'm taking mine back, this past weekend was a nightmare. The phone would not charge no matter if I used the supplied turbo charger, samsung adaptive fast charger, regular charger etc. It would only charge up to maybe 25% and then say it had 8 hours to full charge. It even completely drained my QC 2.0 10,000mah battery pack and never got above 25%. Even with the screen off and nothing running it was getting hot. I'm guessing I just got a bad one, luckily T-Mobile is sending a loaner S7E to use until I can get a replacement Note 7 so I can take this back to Best Buy. Shame because this would have been a great backup phone to use.

Looks like the Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 Chip is on-board

iFixit did a teardown of the Pixel Phone to find there is a Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 Chip on-board
Has anyone gotten to run a charging test on the phone with a QC3.0 charger?

more bad news... uhg. I really love and am not sure I can live without my QC. on my g4 it charges up to 80% at 2.5-3% per minute. So dead to 80% in about 30 mins. This 1% per minute 'rapid' charging is going to piss me off.

It's not 1% per minute. It's about 50% in 30 minutes, and slows down after that. Your G4 does not charge to 80% in 30 minutes. If it did, the battery would be in pretty bad shape. You can't charge batteries at full current when they are near full capacity because it will damage them.

He said 30minutes. Now we all know how screwy he can be, but if he believes that you can charge an LG G4 3000maH battery with any charger short of a lightning bolt, then let him dream.
Devils advocate, ****ty calibration may show you that rate of charge with a severely diminished runtime capacity in an old battery, damaged battery or **** software. All things an LG G4 is capable of.

No complaints here!
The thing that really impresses me the most is the active drain. Every phone I've had was in the high teens and low 20s. When I used to fuss with custom kernels and profiles, if I could get it to 15%/h or a tick less, I was jazzed... But those often came with compromise... More noticeable kernel lag due to fast down/slow up governor profiles, chunky scrolling, etc.
The 2XL sits around a 11%/h average for my typical day to day usage. I've been taking a ton of video and pics the past few days and that crept that average up to closer to 13...
But tonight I'm back at my usual junk and after a full charge I'm sitting at 80% with 2:45 of screen time. That's nuts.

If I charged it to 100% and then just used it normally, I'm sure I could get a full day from my Pixel 4a with no problem; but I usually try to keep my phone in the 20-80% range, never putting it at 100%. Also, with the quick charger, it's easy to just throw it on a charger for about 30 minutes and get another 50% of life. The exception to this rule is when I don't think I'll be able to charge the phone at all during the day, or maybe not very often.
Anyone for any screen on time states?
Currently using pixel 3a xl and get about 8 hours.
Wonder if its worth the upgrade. Extra storage and ram would be but with the 3a xl the battery lasts me about two days which is great.

Only reason I didn't get the 3axl is it's more expensive than the 4a. I'd hold on to that puppy
Can someone run work 2.0 battery life test with 50% brightness? Not necessarily complete test, half is enough.
This result seems too good...

That's pretty impressive. Possibly time for an upgrade then for me. Not that there is anything wrong with the 3a XL just wouldn't mind a smaller phone, but I wanted to keep the same battery life, which the 4a looks to have.
whats about with android 11, is the SoT better?
Full data , with Bluetooth connectivity automatic brightness + AOD.. First charge (android 11)
First day on A11, very similar to A10 so far.
No screenshot yet.
On android Q, 4G and Wifi on, AOD on, I have about 7:40 screen on time after one day use.
Seems good to me
I have noticed an improvement since last update don't know if it's just from using the phone more or of it's from the update but 5 hours and 45 mins sot all on data with bluetooth going for 6 of the day seems pretty good to me.

Battery life/efficiency is already quite good, so charging speed might not be a concern for most people.
Still, it would be nice if Google offered higher charging speeds, and added battery protection features to the phone.
Anyone have projected full time to charge from 0-100% or what 50-100% would look like? I think around 50%, shows 1hr and 40mins I believe.
Yeah about an hour from 50%-100%
But most of my usb c cables aren't working (properly).
When connected some say charging slowly and takes a full day and some don't even work while I could use those to charge very fast with other phones.
Anyone have these problems also?

Mine is lighting quick. I can go from 15% to 100% in just over an hour with my included charger
It charges a little bit faster than my Pixel 2 XL did with a 16% bigger battery so pretty good.
59% to full projected at 4hr on my standard Seneo wireless charging stand
55 minutes plugged into the Pixel USB charger
I think the charging speed it's quicker than my Pixel 4 XL. My Pixel 5 charges at about 1 hour and 15 minutes from 20% to 100%. Pixel 4 XL needs about 1 hour and 40 minutes with smaller battery capacity. I suppose Pixel 5 charging speeds is about 20 to 22Watts.
It's 18 W, for sure.
I'm using an Anker Nano III charger and an Anker braided type c to type c and Ampere shows it charging at 3.8A when it is rapid charging so that's 19W.
Personally i wish Google would add a 1A (or less) overnight charging option, i would find that much more useful than the rapid charge to be honest.

No point, it still rapid charges up to 80% still and just slows the last 20% down which to be honest it what it does anyway albeit the last 20% is a little faster and you don't need to have an alarm set. The adaptive charging option seems like the most pointless method of charging ever implemented to be honest.

To be honest the battery life is that good on the Pixel 5 it is the first phone in 10 years that i have not had to charge overnight, i generally top it up while i am settling down and unplug it before i nod off to sleep and it is always still at 100% or 99% the next morning. There is nearly always well over 50% left before i do the same again the following evening.
I just think for a lot of people a setting for a slow trickle charge would be just as beneficial as the default rapid charging.

First one in 10years? Then you had some phones with bad battery life haha.. The pixel 5 battery is alright. i've had better
I agree with some above, the pixel 5 lasts me all day so I don't even use the supplied fast charger. I actually use a apple USB plug and it charges very slowly over night for me with adaptive charge so helps to preserve battery life even more. Still amazed how incredible the battery life is on the Pixel 5.

Yup, you seem to forget some early Android phones had batteies as small as 1000mAh and if you enabled Wi-Fi or god forbid mobile data the battery was flat in 10 minutes, not a cat in hells chance of reaching 12 hours let alone a day. Moving forwards my previous 3 phones the OnePlus 7t, Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 8 could not come anywhere near the Pixel 5 for battery longevity unless you made compromises to your usage. Last week i rattled though 30GB of data doing 5G speed tests on the Pixel 5 and i still had 60 odd % left at the end of the day.
