mic not working in speaker mode - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

few days ago the speakerphone function on my max pro m1 stopped working. The close mic (earpiece, holding phone to the ear) still works fine. Testing using voice recorder shows that BOTH mics still pick up sound fine (in interview mode), the top mic less so but still of a noticeable volume. Video recording with sound using the camera app still works fine.
In fact, the "speakerphone" mic is only broken during calls from the native phone app and using Skype, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp (both with and without video, though the close mic still works).
So I can record a video of myself speaking fine, presumably using the same microphone and camera as the messaging apps, then have no/very low volume when making a video call. The same apps will record my voice fine using the voice recording component of the app. It's just during the audio or video calls when it breaks down.
Tried reboot, safe mode, clearing cache, turning off/on noise cancellation, changing app permissions (within reason), and a few other things I forgot.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
reset & reflashing firmware could not help

I just realized this problem and this occurs to my device too. Maybe it's just a bug from new update, typical. Well, the waiting game begins. Hopefully asus fix it on the next update. Too many bugs.

Microphone problems

Just wondering does anyone experience the problem of recording a video on the Omnia 7, yet no sound is recorded during playback?
I've noticed this heaps of times where apps which require the mic (Shazam, bing voice search, and as mentioned recording a video) does not pic up any sound. The only way to remedy this problem is by dialling a contact and ending it right away before it alerts them. This kind of activates the mic of the phone. Anyone experiencing this?
No, sound is good with my Omnia. Video recording, apps that require the mic...no problem at all.
Thanks. Weird how mine sometimes dont work. Was recording a video, and when I played it back it had no sound... It seems fine now though, but I reckon it will come back eventually ><

Mic problem LG P700

Hey guys i have problem with my mic, can only use in calls. In other apps like whatsapp, video recorder, voice recorder the mic don't work. I have this problem with all the ROMs i use. I hope you can help me. Thnks :fingers-crossed:
I have the same problem on v20 baseband with all roms I've installed. There are several people reporting same issue. Some time ago I've rolled back to v10 baseband and stock ics rom - everything was working fine. Installed recently v20 baseband and kitkat cuatom rom - problem reappeared.
However if you plugin headphones mic is recording correctly in all apps: sound recorder, camera, etc.
If anybody has an idea how to fix it, please share.
edit:
this one is duplicate thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2718897
Logcat: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88194181/logcat_LGP700_sound_recorder_issue.txt
during logcat session i've did these actions:
1. turned soundrecorder and started recording, then played recorded sound (only noise was heard)
2. turned camera and recorded video
3. plugged headphones when applications were minimized
4. repeated point 1 (only noise was heard).
5. unplugged and plugged headphones again when soundrecorder application was running
6. repeated points 1/4 (this time everything has been recorder well)
7. repeated point 2
8. played first 2nd video from camera (everything was recorded fine) then played 1st video from camera (only noise was heard).
9. if i would unplug headset and record anything again only noise would be heard.
Cheers.

[Question] Microphone Issues - Any ideas?

Hello everyone, I've checked the forums and I've not really seen many answers to this question as it's something that's been bugging me for a while now.
I don't know when it started, but I noticed recently after recording a video and playing back, the sound on one side is completely gone. Almost like Stereo mode has been disabled, I have determined that it is the microphone that is often used during Loudspeaker calls, I tested this by placing a call to a friend on a regular call, then a WhatsApp Call, and finally a Skype call - and each platform is having the same issue - my loudspeaker microphone is not picking up audio. Is there a fix for this? I took apart the device, cleaned thoroughly but I'm wondering if the microphone itself has become busted. If anyone has a similar issue, or has found a fix for this - could you please provide me with some information? I love my Note 3 and would love to start recording some videos again.
Thanks everyone!

First factory reset and check again. .if same it s material problem
I've Factory Reset about 10 times since this post, and attempted all kinds of different things. I can confirm that it is a definitely a hardware issue, could you recommend what to do so I can get this fixed? Again, my primary microphone works fine while making calls - it is only when I enable Loudspeaker that the other party is unable to hear me due to the "Top Microphone" on the device not working for some unknown reason. Again, I've attempted cleans, fixes etc - but the issue only occurs during loudspeaker calls and when recording video as the top microphone is used with the primary microphone for Stereo Recording.
I know the microphone still picks up some form of audio but at a very low level - as I have called a friend and enabled loudspeaker and continued on to blowing in the hole where the microphone is situated. They can hear the loud distortion created by the air, but not a voice or anything like that. I really have to shout (And I mean LOUD) if anything audio is to be picked up.

Recorded audio is quiet static - But phone calls etc fine

I'm having an issue with my sound not recording while recording video. It just comes through as a quiet static.
The mic works fine as I can make calls, voice commands etc. But any time I use my camera to capture video (stock camera app, fb messenger, Snapchat etc) it will bug out to static noise.
Has anybody else had a similar issue?
I've also had and ignored the slowmo bug where the camera will crash to black screen and need a reboot to get it back. I wonder if they are related.
It seems there is a few with the issue but I haven't seen a resolution in my searches

How to enable the alternative mic?

Phone's mic got crashed and not working while calling and using camera, but it works in loudspeaker. Is there any way to make that mic work in camera and normal call too?
Seems like a software bug. Try formatting the ROM...
