Unknown number - VoLTE incoming calls - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Questions & Answers

All incoming calls are Unknown number (no caller number visible) when VoLTE is activated. No issues with outgoing calls (that does make sense). When VoLTE is deactivated, everything works okay. Turning the feature on/off, also with enable/disable carrier check, does not solve anything. Multiple reboots done. Everything worked okay on my Mi Mix 2S with the same SIM-card yesterday, so I'm guessing it's a software issue.
MIUI Global 10.3.7 (PFJEUXM)
Anyone with the same issue? Is it working okay for anyone?

This used to happen to me on the note 5 AI.. And it got fixed after an update.

Hi, where did you find the VoLTE setting?

You probably have to disable carrier check first (*#*#86583#*#* and dial). Then you will have VoLTE option in call settings. Today was a new OTA but the issue is still present for me.

same here... Mi 9t activated volte and now unknown caller.
I wanted to try VOLTE since my calls are so bad I cant understand what callers are saying.

I have the same problem
K20 Pro
MIUI China 10.3.17

I have a MI 9T Global running version 10.3.11.0 PFJMIXM (and if I'm not mistaken the OP's version 10.3.7 (PFJEUXM) is not global but China based EU..)
My provider is T-Mobile Germany and caller-ID with VoLTE is working just fine.
Can it be that it's a problem with china based ROMs (like the EU version)?
Cheers Helmuth

Well, I managed to get in contact with distributer for Mi phones for our country, got their unit (mine was bought from Amazon ES) and reproduced the problem - I didn't pay attention to ROM version on their unit. They've logged it and said that they've forwarded the issue to the devs. Hopefully it'll get resolved sometime in the near future - for now the issue is the same on 10.3.12.0 (PFJEUXM).

I have same issue on global as eu. My provider checked everything and there was no misconfiguration on their side. so, reading these posts I think its phone related. CallerId outgoing is ok, incoming no name.
Mi 9T 128GB
Miui EU 10.3.15

Have the same issue on my Mi 9T Pro. Will this ever be fixed? If I go to Lineage or different Roms will that issue persist then too?

For me it's the same, for some reason we can't enter diag mode I think. Tried a lot of stuff, all not working. E.g; https://xiaomifirmware.com/guides-and-tips/enter-diag-mode-backup-imei-using-qpst/
Which rom are you using?

Sorry for the confusion, I meant the top part of the guide with three different methods to access DIAG Mode. For me the IMEI is also fine.
If you are using the miui rom you may also try this; https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80159761&postcount=83 (specifically the two steps Additionnal fixing can be made using the app "Activity Manager" listed at the beginning), for this you need Activity Manager (also mentioned by Ratje_nl); https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-activity-manager-hidden-activity-t3797985. This does not work on AOSP roms I think, I couldn't find the apks at least. I know this is all kind of messy, since there's little information we have to use a lot of different guides.
I am using Pixel Experience by the way.

So I also managed to get it working using this guide. I used Netherlands_Vodafone_LTE (I'm on the KPN network in The Netherlands), but I can confirm it is working.
Trick for me was to switch to a different rom, I am using Lineage OS instead of PE+, so you may give it a try as well if it still does not work.

[Need help] VoLTE , Jio, H2OS and the mess!

Hello Guys!
I'm from India and as we were waiting long for VoLTE support, I was one amongst to jump onto H2OS.
Now everyone knows that -
1. On H2oS, there are frequent network drops.
2. On CM14.1 , there are frequent random reboots.
I do know that there are too many threads which state the solutions for above problems but the solutions contradict each other.
1. some say enable only band 3, others say enable band 3,5 and 40.
2. some say install network signal guru on H2os and then flash CM14.1 normally. rest say install the app directly on CM14.1.
I've been trying all solutions for a week now and haven't found any permanent solution.
I would like inputs, especially from people who use 2 sims (1 jio sim). and have flashed H2OS.
Is anyone having a stable phone after flashing H2OS? ; ALSO
Any Idea when updated OOS would come out? (I expect it to be a permanent solution).
PS - For some reason, reverting back to OOS also gives me random reboots and so does CM13.0 do. Please help !

I have Jio in slot 1 and Vodafone in slot 2.
I am on H2OS VoLTE version.
just install network signal guru app.
there in RAT Locking I selected LTE and in BAND Locking I selected band 3,5 and 40.
Also in sim card settings, I have kept 2G/3G/4G(Automatic) as preferred network type.
Also I have disabled "aggressive doze and app hibernation" in battery settings as well.
And in app settings I have disabled app-auto launch prevent option.
In last 4 days I didn't got any network drops.
Also battery life is better than OOS even after disabling aggressive doze option.
On CM14.1, I am getting random reboots even after using network signal guru app. so be on H2OS until Oneplus releases new OOS update. And I feel H2OS is better than CM14.1 because of its camera and battery life.

I try all possible solutions and at last I come on conclusion that everything and all trick is useless till HOS didn't come with either new update or OS adapt HOS modem.
Right now I using RR 7.1.1 latest build with HOS modem with single sim I.e. Jio
VoLTE working perfectly no reboot no signal drop and good battery.
So my suggestion is either use single jio sim or wait for stable build of HOS. Doing tricks and flashing lots of ROM is neither a solution nor give stability.

1. So, on single sim, do i still need to use network signal guru app?
2. In the pic that you uploaded, i see a few network drops. are they major ones?
Network Signal Guru works both on H2OS and CM14.1(RR 7.1) for me...Just lock bands 3 and 5..no random reboots .just a few network drops..these have the frequency of like once in an hour ...and it gone in a minute ...Happy with this...but sure a permanent fix is better..Which will be out before end of 2016...

I am using dual sim and I m sure reboots can be stopped by using Network signal guru on Cm14.1 as well as H2OS (its stabilizes network drops here as there were no reboots on H2 OS in the first place)...Well the source is from Oneplus forums ..Everyone knows that Oneplus said it will give an VoLTE update for OxygenOS for OP2 in this quarter..(ie before end of 2016)..
I am using one Jio sim and one vodafone sim in my oneplus 2 on h2os.i had clean flashed h2os after wiping oxygen 3.1.
i had no reboots and no network drops since 6th december.i had not used and software to achieve this stable situation.
H2os on my oneplus 2 is as similar as open beta 8 naugat on my oneplus 3.

No need of any app or setting. Just one jio sim.
Network drop in image is when I reboot cell. Check carefully its power off status so network drop.
I've had similar problems but I found the solution to be quite easy... though it might now work for everybody. I first did factory reset in TWRP, wiped everything except internal storage. Then I flashed official H2OS version 2.5.1 I believe. Restarted phone (it took like 10 full minutes). Went thru initial setup. Rebooted into TWRP. Factory reset, then wipe everything except internal storage. Clean flashed AICP ROM running android 7.1. Wiped cache. Rebooted. Now my phone works 100% no random reboots and VOLTE works as well.

after hundreds of attempts with all the Custom ROMs including CM14, AICP. Slim, RR I finally am having no problem with Grarak's 1312 build of CM14.1. I selected bands3, 5 & 4o through Network Signal Guru when in H2OS and then Clean flashed this CM 14.1 ROM of Grarak. After a couple of random reboots immediately after installing, the ROM remains steady with no random reboots, full HD capability and no perceptiblesignal drops for the past 19 hours . I guess this is it...
Just a correction band locking doesn't stick after a reboot..let alone after a clean flash...So Network signal Guru hasn't helped u arrive at this fix...I had read in the changelog of the official CM 14.1 saying some improvement/fix related to Jio network..
So I guess the latest nightly ,ie, 13/12/2016 is the solution for random reboots...Rejoice!...Thanks to @Grarak for ur hardwork...
And it would be kind if anyone who tries this build gives a review about it..
Still no luck

i tried clean flashing cm 14.1 13/12 still trapped with insane random reboots hope someone finds a solution for it can't hold with h2os.
GUYS , I FOUND A SOLUTION! Few hours on RR, no reboots or network drops!
Firstly I flashed latest RR Rom (13th dec). then gapps and OP2 camera.
Secondly I found out that the phone randomly rebooted for me when it switched to Band 40 (I'm in Mumbai, India). Hence I selected band 3 and 5 using network guru app. I never expected the solution to work as it always failed on Cyanogenmod. but it worked on RR . I'm really glad.
PS- I was really pissed before few hours and would love to help anyone who is still in this mess and is having problems regarding RR installation. If u need any help, just put a mail on [email protected] or find me on Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/tbiwalkar .

Does this solution worked for anybody else.? Please share the experience, weather it worked or failed. I am not doubting tbiwalkar but I had a stable Slim Nougat for a full day and Grarak 1312 build stable for another full day but eventually they both started rebooting randomly with all my old problems came back like a bad coin.

Xiaomi Redmi 3S Questions.

This time i have a redmi 3s, its a great phone...
can anyone help me with some questions?
Can anyone tell me how did you for unlock your bootloader? or suggest me a secure method?
I'm looking for a post about fix the bad volume quality in camera videos, it will work with the V8.1.5.0 eu version?
Will the 4g/LTE work with MIUI V8.1.5.0 EU on American continent, specifically in colombia?
Anyone know any way for uninstall the unused google apps without get bootloop?
Thanks for all, and sorry for the inconvenience
1. Over Google a lot guides.
http://en.miui.com/thread-200858-1-1.html
If process stuck on 50% try again few times. Then flash China Dev rom, usually it helps.
2. Yes, patch for fixing bad recorded sound compatible with any rom for now.
3. http://willmyphonework.net
Chinese and International device versions have different bands support, Google it.
4. Bootloop only if you freeze Google Search app (Launcher3), other apps safe to disable.
Root: via MyAndroidTools disable all it's recievers and it won't start automatically.
Thanks for your quickly answer, you re always on fire

[Q] [HELP] How do you identify the correct variant of Redmi 2?

I've tried posting this in MIUI forums and haven't gotten any replies. I'll try my luck with XDA.
How do you correctly identify Redmi 2?
I've got a RM2 that has the 2014811 variant when I check it onscreen.. But I'm skeptic that it's correct. All I know is 2014811 is suppose to be a normal Redmi 2 with 1 gigs of RAM and 8 gigs of ROM. But mine's a 2 gigs RAM & 16 gigs ROM. If I'm correct, with specs like those, my RM2 is suppose to be a RM2 enchanced variant (Pro, Prime, etc). What I can't figure out is which variant is it that I'm dealing with. Another thing that I know is that the RM2 version of mine isn't the global one because I didn't buy it from an official shop, I bought it from an external distributor. The RM 2 box is written in chinese and the characters underneath the battery are full chinese (except for the S/N and IMEI). Is my RM 2 a 2014818 or 2014819? How can I find out which variant is it that I have with me.
Thank you.
2014819- Brazilian variants
2014818- Redmi 2 prime variation of 2014811

Guys thanks for your replies. After intensive research, I have concluded that: yes, my device is totally a WT88047 - HM201411 - HM 2 LTE-CU (China Unicom) variant. But now I've found out something else that's got me hooked up on finding out. I'm using latest stable stock rom (MIUI 8 - 8.2.1.0), and I checked out my Mi-Account menu in settings, snooped down to devices and... My RM2P is named Redmi 2W..... So... What the heck is Redmi 2W? I've been searching here and there with no luck on finding out what a Redmi 2W is (Haven't checked the chinese sites though). Does anyone know what it is?

I've got: touchscreen issues, wake up issues, twrp issues, kernel issues and proximity issues. I'm guessing even if I tell you what I'm experiencing, you won't be able to find a solution for it (please don't say I've got defective hardware, because I don't. Why? Because 3 of my friends bought the same device as mine, in the same online shop and all of them have the same issues). But even so I'll just post all of em and cross my fingers:
TWRP's bugged, needs to timeout (screen off) first before I'm able to responsively use it (touchscreen bugged, tried all latest TWRP versions, including kumajaya's old twrp builds. Touchscreen does work on several 2.8.7.0 and below versions for KK bootloader).
Any custom rom I've flashed will always face lockscreen issues (waking up device using power button leads to unresponsive and un-swipe-able touchscreen, that means I can't unlock my device, seems like it has to do with with proximity too, and please don't ask me about gestures and modified navigation buttons, because I don't use them at all: dt2w, s2w, etc).
Any custom kernel used will always lead to device not being able to wake up (pressing power button doesn't wake up the screen, stays black, have to reset device by force, still happens even though I'm using stock CPU govs *interactive* and I/O scheds *noop* not using hotplugs, doesn't change anything)
I still even face all those problems in Stock MIUI (KK or LP.. 7, 8)
Try downloading china developer ROM? Yeah. I've done that.. Even went to the Chinese download page of miui to download the exact recommended MIUI 8 C-Dev ROM for my HM 2 LTE-CU variant, and still the same bugs occur.
Xposed? I've experimented using stock and custom roms (below API 24) that are Un-Xposed. They still exhibit the same problems as above.
Clean flash dirty flash? I totally understand what those are.
Wipe dalvik cache and cache.. Don't even dare ask about those.
Fix Permissions? Yeah.. It didnt make a difference..
Post dmseg and logcats? Trust me, you devs will probably mark my device as a different type of WT8847 (and by saying that means even if you succeed to find the problems, to fix them means you gotta totally change the 'insides' of roms and stuff to make it compatible with mine. It'll probably be a waste of time if I post those 2 guys here.
Can you help me, bro?

Just take a backup your current ROM by t.w.r.p before flashing ROM(if something goes wrong).

Yeah, I know where you're getting at bro. Let me ask you this, does it not annoy you to death when you're restoring the same backup ROMs frequently just because suddenly your device can't use wi-fi (bugged) or tether, or maybe one of the issues above occur and you just gotta try your best to keep it 'clean'.. again.. and again.. and again? I just need a damn good daily driver without issues for crying out loud :cyclops:

that's all are happening 'cause of source code modification of lineage from cyanogen which caused your device unfavorable base code modification, only thing can be done is flash stock rom, bootloader, recovery, modem, everything using fastboot.

So in other words "bye-bye" to custom roms right? I'm in latest stable global miui 8 btw (LP), I clean flashed it via download mode, those problems still show up though. Okay let me just try to flash miui via fastboot or download mode again.

Network location in Android 7.1.2 [tasker]

I tried now lineage, xenon hd and resurrection. In every 7.1.2 ROM I am unable to get the network based location.
Unfortunately the only way I I know to read this battery saving location is by using tasker(which need to work for me)
Google maps is working without GPS. But I think just because near WiFi.
Can anyone check to read the network based location with tasker in a 7.1.2. ROM?
I already checked my APN settings,my sim card and the android right policies for tasker.... No luck at all
It seems that you have similar problem like me and others:
"Network Location Provider" doesn't work with up-to-date Google Play Services
Location not correct when indoors
Thanks for the links. And indeed, it seems like the same problem.
What surprises me is that this bug dont appeal to this community here. For me it is an important feature of google service which we cant use with our OP2.
Furthermore i dont understand why this bug seems to be a bug according to our device.
For me it is ja software bug with no relation to our hardware?
I hope this error gets more pushed soon

For me, this is also a big problem, because I often need to see geotags in my picture where I made this or that photo. But geotags are not recorded in photos, but if they are recorded, then only one place even if I have already passed 2 kilometers.
There are two solutions - to put Google-camera, but there is very dark video in case of insufficient illumination, the second - to put another ROM. I tried almost all the firmware and only two did not have problems:
Resurrection Remix M [5.7.4]
LineageOS 13.0
But one more problem because of which I will soon change my OP2 is a poor autonomy.

Thanks. As far as i know the 3.6.0 updates is based on Android 6.0.1. and therefore no android 7.1.x
However you are right, it seems to be the only fix for now. No Android 7 With this feature.
I am just wondering why

Xiaomi Mi A1 issues with Chinese ROM

Hi, I bought a privately imported Xiaomi Mi A1 64, and it has the latest OS on it, Android 9 build PKQ1.180917.001.V10.0.8.0.PDHMIXM.
However, it has a few non-major, but annoying quirks, such as: when you are in any application, and you get a phone call, there is no visual indication of an ongoing call, you have to switch to the call (e.g. like the iPhone has the green line at the top of the screen whenever a call is in progress). I tried to install a 3rd party app that provides call status at all times, but it didn't work well. I consulted a cellular repair lab, and they checked it and said that this device doesn't have the "international" android Firmware, but some kind of Chinese derivative, that's causing the issues. There are no signs of this, because everything is in English. But they said, it is too risky to try and root it and install some kind of mod to set things right. I consulted several other labs and got similar answers.
I already tried a complete factory reset.
What mod would be recommended for this phone that would be a "normal" Android build for this device, that comes with all the basic features built in?
many thanks

Flash latest stock rom via MiFlash. Check YouTube for some tutorials.
Sent from my Mi A1 using XDA Labs
Be careful. If your phone is imported from chinese, then It could be the Mi 5X, which has an different system compared to Mi A1. Installing Mi A1 roms directly may cause brick.

Thank you for all your help. I found out that there are two types of ROMs, "Stable Global ROM" and "Stable Chinese ROM". How do I check which one I have, and where do I get the "Stable Global" version from?
Thanks again

Your best bet is finding a IMEI-checking website. However, if yours is imported from China then it's high chance it is the Mi 5X, which is Mi A1 in Chinese. There is no "international" or "chinese" rom version for Mi A1 because in Chinese it's a different phone. Mi 5X ran MIUI and doesn't have A/B like Mi A1.

As far as I understand, if you have one of the fake Chinese ones the stenciling will be different on the back.
A real one will say:
MI
Xiaomi corporation co Ltd
Designed by Xiaomi
CE {recycle logo}
Made in China model MDG2
Androidone
