V30 Pie? - LG V35 Questions & Answers

https://www.notebookcheck.net/LG-rolls-back-on-V30-Android-Pie-commitment.426519.0.html
Question based on the above referenced article:
So LG has reversed course on the V30 receiving pie?
Opinion: What a sham(e).
Hopefully this will serve to clear up the gray area that can be perceived as "misinformation".

EDIT: TURNS OUT THE OP HAS A SEVERE READING COMPREHENSION PROBLEM VS SPREADING MISINFORMATION. In his edited post #1, he cites the very article I QUOTED to him in my reply #1. My QUOTE PROVED LG Pie was still coming -- just delayed. Somehow he used that article as basis to ask is V30 Pie was cancelled. Very strange.
This post below is the ORIGINAL POST, minus the misinformation allegation. I edited one to sentence to instead ask if he had actually read the article. Again, this is the article I replied to him with, and now he cites it as his original thesis question.

No, LG has not "reversed course" on V30 Pie.
Did you ACTUALLY READ the article? Clearly states V30 Pie is merely delayed due to beta stability issues found during testing -- which LG are solving.

We are just 4 days away from Q3, and now LG Korea has announced that it has postponed the Pie roll-out for "essential improvements found during the quality stabilization process". Apparently, this delay was "an unavoidable thing", which seems like an odd admission. LG has now pushed the update until at least July with the company stating that it will do its best to release the OS update in July.

Well with no fixed release dates outside of South Korea I won't be holding my breath. Death doesn't become me.

There were never any fixed dates outside Korea.
The promised "Q2" was for Korea V30. Everyone else was already assumed to get it later.
V40 was the exception where Korea variants did not get it first.

I don't believe I am spreading misinformation, by asking a question. I did not unequivocally state anything that I declared vociferously to be fact.
In the interest of good will among the human race can we be slightly less contrarian about such things?
Thanks.

Well then I answered your "question". You can find LG's statement in the link above, posted in the V30 forum where you would expect to find such information.
But it wasn't just a question...

"What a sham/shame" indicates you are making a statement. That your "question" is actually a known fact, and you are just finding it out. That's the misinformation part. You are stating your leading (faux) question as a fact and then rendering an opinion on that alleged situation.
"So the pope is really an atheist? What a sham(e)" < See how that works?
And in your first reply to me you defended your STATEMENT, saying lack of revised release dates proved your contention V30 Pie has been cancelled at least for non-Korean variants.
Only now in your 2nd reply are you changing tactics and saying you were "Just Asking Questions."
There's actually a category of troll-like behavior (no, I'm not calling you a troll) called JAQ'ing off -- where people say they are "Just Asking Questions", when really they are peddling misinformation.
I'll make a deal...You edit your first post to be more clear it's JUST an honest question -- and I'll edit my reply to simply answer your question.
It's also strange you didn't just search the news or even ask your "question" in the V30 XDA forum -- instead of the V35 forum (which has nothing to do with the V30) -- if you were really looking for information on V30 Pie? The V30 Pie DELAY has been in the news for several days and discussed in the V30 forum, of course. The link I gave you in my first reply was from a post in the V30 forum.
Otherwise, yeah it seems you probably knew V30 is still getting Pie -- it's just delayed for reason already explained, and you just wanted to spread a little misinformation in the V35 forum and hoping no one in here knew better? At least that's my interpretation until you edit your first post to prove otherwise.
I will always correct perceived misinformation, and that is not being contrary.
Just edit your first post and I'll edit my replies.

Did you actually read the article? It's very clear V30 Pie is just delayed. THAT is the article I quoted in my 1st reply to you.
There's no way you can ask the original question if V30 Pie is cancelled if you read the article.
I will edit my posts to reflect your lack of reading comprehension vs blatant misinformation. It also means you never even read my first reply, for you to choose THAT article as the source for your question. That was the article where I PROVED it's not cancelled!

Yes. I read the article. It was the reason I posted the "question". I read more than one actually. Should I post the links here?
Speaking of reading comprehension, maybe you should look into that yourself. Unless of course you care to point out where I said the update was cancelled? In which case you PROVED nothing.

Anyone yet?

About the most interesting questions on X10 - Rikard Answers

Rikard Skogberg says:
September 24, 2010 at 3:03 pm
Branimir,
1.will 2.2 ever come to x10?
- like I’ve said earlier: not ruled in nor out at this point, i.e. it might but I can’t promise, sorry.
2.multitouch?
- no such plans commited.
3.flash?
- no such plans commited.
4.16 m colors?
- no such plans commited.
5.camera flash?
- doesn’t seem included in this coming update as far as I can see but I have forwarded feedback on that earlier – will look into it!
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2010/09/23/update-on-updates/comment-page-19/#comment-64035
Regarding 16 mil. colours:
Why doesn’t X10 have 16 mil. colours with 2.1? Performance problems? Hardware again?
RS says: Sorry but I don’t know the reason at this time. I guess it could be hardware dependant or due to priorities in resources for development. I’ll see if I can find out.
Thanks for the post. It's a bunch of non-answers really but atleast I don't have to browse through the Sony Ericsson blogs to find them.
When they do have a plan - we see delays ... When they do not have plans I suppose it is a clear "no".
So for sure no 16 mil colours and no flash. For multitouch it was clear earlier.

Just go through the comments in the blog...............Rikard was patient enough to answer many questions.....
Thanks for the post OP
would be great if you would update the first post to include what ever he says
Much appreciated
In all honesty, all those answers are like the answers we get from politicians. In other words, they are not answers at all, they are simply evasions.
Update on arabic support from Rikard
I asked him about Arabic support in the coming update, His answer was, i quote,
"I don’t know. I’ve checked my sample here and it doesn’t seem to include Arabic letters at least. But perhaps there could be language additions in the second update, I will try to look into it!"
I have also contacted SE Middle East on their facebook page, they answered that the support for Arabic will be added in November(on old update schedule, i guess). So that may not happens(if it ever happens) until early 2011.
Perhaps we could revive this thread? It would really help a lot of people if you post what Rikard says over here - note, no discussion, just what he posted. Then we don't need to wade through all the 500 comments cursing SE and the spam comments etc
I don't see any helpful answer.

+1. Keep posting and keep this thread towards the front.
ATM, I feel I'm missing two things only... (anything over these would be a bonus)
1. Camera Flash.
2. In-call-volume.
If SE can do something about this, would be really great.

Here's an interesting one... what do we think about this logic?
Q: Why do you lock the boot loader of your devices? Isn’t Android supposed to be open source?
A: Yes, Android is an open source platform. Anyone can download it, modify it to their liking and install it on hardware they have designed. A mobile device is much more than the operating system. In our phones there are functionality that have to be secure such as SIM-lock and DRM. We currently don’t have a solution in place to secure that while opening the bootloader and therefore it would break legal agreements with many of our partners if we do.”

So what ARE THE FACTS? Nexus II

So it looks like the guys over at Androidpsin.com are bringing up information about Samsung manufacturing the NII. Is this true? Or what is going on here? My last thread got trashed because it was "false".
Here's the link http://androidspin.com/2010/11/05/nexus-2-launch-plagued-by-hardware-issues/
Am I the only one who finds it hard to believe that "a major hardware issue" was discovered little more than a week before launching a new product?
Testing on a device like this would have been done over the course of months and probably finalized long before an unveiling to the public.

This is Samsung we are talking about. They pushed the Galaxy S line to the States with knowledge of the GPS issues.. so maybe they're being smart about this one? (If in fact it's true)
That bit was reported by Tech Crunch and no source was cited for it. Currently it's all rumor and speculation.
I agree. I am not so much as concerned with the statements of hardware with the post, but if the post is true or not. And if not, why is Androidspin.com putting more bad posts.

Epinters "ROM" Thread deleted!

Message from kennethpenn regarding the issue at hand. Please read.
Ok I watched the following go down last night; Epinter edited his ICS rom leak posting from full of info and a download link, to " .. " and only that at 5:22 PM PST. This was followed by a few people commenting at the end of the thread "what happened/where are you?" to which Epinter replied (thumps up) "still here". That was about 8pm PST, and as of right now 6 am PST the following day, all of Epinters posts from the past 4 days have been deleted until the 7th.
Was Motorola employee information leaked in the leak we've been using?
Lets discuss, because now the record is gone. At the end of the thread 6 hours ago someone mentioned that a sanitized version will be coming, but I couldn't verify if that was either true, or even the problem to begin with.
Is Epinter in trouble with the notoriously stupid and arrogant Motorola?
If there was ever a company to forgot the rule of the internet, that once it's on the internet it's out there forever, it would be Motorola. I can verify for a FACT that Motorola watches this forum. I have spoken to nvidia executives, when they were toting development atrixes in summer of 2011, they WATCH xda, and occasionally use it; I have in the flesh verified this, they aren't morons and they know their resources. I think we might have stepped on some toes here, because Motorola is wickedly insecure about their IP, look at their recent lawsuits and blatent tech-grab acquisition by Google. They want us to buy their damn Razr M on Verizon, and not the continued usage of our phones, just look at the locking down of bootloaders, followed by waving $100 Verizon vouchers followed by killing ICS. It's like their not just giving us the middle finger, their trying to pry into our wallet, because we (everyone here at XDA) all need smartphones, why does Motorola have to make this such a painful experience...
Figured something like this would happen. Not a Dev so I kept out of the discussion but it seems that some entity with some parts in the file objected to its presence on XDA and it had to be taken down. I hope this doesn't mean the end to dev on this as I would love to have my atrix back.
Hopefully it will surface in the underground and be available to underground atrix network.

Usually a leak happens of an unofficial build that is going to be released officially at some point. This leak made moto look particularly bad because it was a partially finished update that they canned, most likely to get people to upgrade their phones. I find it hard to believe that moto didn't have EVERYTHING to do with the thread being deleted. We need to hope that our xda devs aren't in any real (aka legal) trouble over this.

If you want me I can find you many posts on XDA threads submitted by very active members with very high number of 'Thanks' that were adamant Motorola didn't read comments on XDA, as if it was a degrading act. I have always suspected these members actually work in the benefit of companies, yes these people can represent multiple companies at same time because these people are actually employed by companies you and I never heard about before. Similar companies have previously been exposed after tweet followers scandal.
Let me summarise Motorola in a short sentence or two. Mexican Drug Cartels conduct business with their customers more professionally than Motorola ever did. Mexican Drug Cartels are brutal to disloyalty whereas Motorola's core business is based on disloyalty.
when in doubt, torrent. go look for it people. it's never gonna go away, since it has already been outed.

Guys : if for any reason, the development for that rom is banned from xda (which I doubt...you know, democratic freedom), I will be coming up with a forum to host the devs work and discussion right away, if needed.
It would be nice to know what's going on so nobody else gets in trouble. Hiding what is going on, removing threads and deleting leaked ROMs is not the way of XDA.

Don't blame xda here. Judging by how abrupt and quick this was, I don't think they were asked politely. I'm betting the involved parties got a C&D from motorola. That's why you're not seeing anyone involved in this posting more details.

Oh, FFS. What the hell were these guys thinking?
I like to think I have a reasonable sense of humor and enjoy a good joke as much as the next person. Unfortunately, this doesn't impress me as a very good joke. I guess the moral of the story will be to ignore a few LOS updates every year before and after April 1 and let some folks get it out of their systems. Last year's mascot thing was kind of entertaining. This was a bit much, in my opinion, and if you are one of the folks who just thought this was funny as all get out and one of the best things since sliced bread, well, you are equally entitled to your opinion, I guess. Re-flashing the previous .zip takes care of it very easily. But, if Lineage developers want to be taken a bit more seriously with respect to who uses their ROMs and for what purposes, this is not exactly helpful. I don't suppose One Plus or Essential are releasing their own "spoof ROM" nor are Samsung, LG, Huawei, etc.... As the saying goes: "you never get a second chance to make a first impression."
I'm fine with most of April Fools pranks, but guys, seriously? Jokes about security are never a good idea, especially these days, when unwanted bitcoin mining scripts and virus-infested software is around every corner...
This was in extremely poor taste.
The part in the blog post - not quite unbelievable enough to be obviously a joke and placed alongside very real project updates - was questionable at best.
But the big scary warning baked into the ROM patch completely crosses the line. Flashing roms in general - even established ones like LineageOS - always comes with risks, so those of us who delve into that are always a bit nervous when changing something. You nearly gave me a heart attack.
On top of that:
- There's nothing indicating it's a joke, even after digging around. Even on lineageos.org! It wasn't until I found this forum thread that I relaxed some.
- There's no way to clear the notification? So I just get this persistent, useless notification until the next patch?
- Someone above mentioned that you could remove it by digging around in your system files and deleting a directory. So I found myself in recovery mode, poking through dangerous areas of my file system looking for the (hopefully) correct thing to delete, to get rid of a prank that was put in there on purpose.
Not cool, guys. You're better than this.
Please keep in mind that I am not a Lineage Developer or Representative in any way.
I just posted this to share it with you and was Hoping that it was an April Fools joke.
Last year's indicator for their April Fools joke was when they edited the announcement and added it to that Blog Announcement that it was a joke.
I'm hoping that they do this years any day because I would, personally, be questioning this if a week or so passes by without announcing the joke (if it is one).
I really don't like this myself and, if it was true, I would strongly preferred them to spend that time in working on something like the old CMTE for LineageOS though they did release the API's for Theming.

I share your hope that it is nothing worse than a (really BAD) joke. If not, I could see lots of folks, self included, looking elsewhere for their next ROMs. It seemed fairly obvious from the user interactions that it was a hoax, and as I mentioned, re-flashing the previous zip file cleared it up straight away (and none of the "actual" changes dated 01 April were anything I personally needed anyway). Thank you for taking the time to make the initial post. I know that when I first started with CM and flashing was a new and intimidating experience, something like this would have probably sent me running and not looking back.

If this... was real it would have been a better idea as an optional addon than implementing it in their releases.
I can just imagine the kickback this would cause not only on the XDA forum but, elsewhere too.

As you know, getting any genie back into the bottle is usually a bit of a challenge. I can just imagine the kickback this WILL be causing, which is a shame. It would seem that someone wasn't thinking too clearly. I have been rather satisfied with the Lineage ROMs I use in a few different devices, and would actually be willing to (gasp) PAY a reasonable sum for them if need be, but not if this sort of thing is going to be serious. Still, I doubt they shall feel a need to close up shop over my reactions to anything they do.

Is there a way to clear this notification without flash previous build, or mess around with system files?

Doesn't appear so. Completely dumbfounded that anyone thought this was a good idea.

"If you want to disable the persistent notification, run this command from a root shell (such as adb root / recovery or terminal app) `setprop lineage.persist.nofool true` and reboot the device

Don't mention that around here, they seem to think it's all in good fun. Don't seem to see that crypto mining viruses and spyware are real things, and to put up some persistent "joke" isn't in good taste.
The Lineage Team just added the following words to the "LOSCoins" category of their Blog Post...
The following section was our yearly April Fool’s joke. It will be included in builds through 2018-04-08.
You can see it on the same (following) link as the original Blog Post...

I understand the panic some individuals (admittedly a bit on my part as well).
They are getting better at this and I can't imagine how much better they will get as time goes on.
YOU GOT ME LINEAGE GUYS!!! LMAO!!!

I actually found the joke funny. With all this coins hype around, it's well designed.
So there's a lot of people feeling cool by flashing their phone with weekly builds but feel outraged by an april fool joke by those devs who let them feel cool. Isn't it ironic?
Keep on with your wonderful work devs, and enjoy! Thanks!

Well, if Lineage only had 2,000 users instead of approximately 2,000,000 (and that doesn't include all of the unofficial versions) and was not interested in being taken seriously, I would be more inclined to agree with you. As an "inside joke" to a technically sophisticated audience who will recognize it and know how to dismiss it with no strain, it could be considered amusing. But not every joke scales up to be universally appealing to a large audience. The other question that you might want to consider is how far such a joke can be allowed to go. If instead of just annoying notifications, it wiped all of your data and trashed your NVRAM, taking with it your IMEI device data and leaving you with a bricked paperweight, would that be funny? Probably not.
