I ran the "WIFI Only" script on it yesterday. And as I was restoring a nandroid (used a stock based ROM for use of EPST) back to my normal ROM, I saw an article on Android Central that an Update was pushed a couple days ago from Verizon to fix random reboot issues.
HA! That made me laugh. My phone has been so remarkably stable for over the last year+. I mean REALLY stable, folks. I'm talking months on end without a reboot (random or otherwise)!
Which made me think I ought to pop on here and express my sincere thanks to the Devs here.
My Dinc is still running my modded and tweaked inc-dec-gingerbread-v1.3 (by kushdeck)...with Incredikernel (chad, tiny)...ext 4 no-data-limit (jermaine, tiny)...
Tiny, Chad, kushdeck, CM team, pons, cmlusco, ihfpt69, joelz, jermaine, nils, condemned, lou, doug, ... this list would be so long if I would remember ALL of the devs whose work has benefited me. Simply put, if you have been a dev for Dinc, I thank you! You almost certainly were helping the other Devs... which ended up helping me more directly. Open source baby, that's the way it software ought to be developed!
And I should thank all of the other "common users" here too. People like me, who regularly post questions and answers, test, provide feedback and opinion, report bugs and even solutions to them. You all have helped me a TON too.

I'm now using a Nexus 4 (T-mobile $30 per month plan). It's bootloader-unlocked, and rooted, and still runs with stock ROM. Without a doubt, the Nexus 4 is a nice step-up in hardware. But, the truth is, I'm kind of underwhelmed with it, I miss some of the software tweaks and mods my Dinc has. Not that there is anything that I have to complain about with the Nexus 4... really. It's just that my Dinc, with custom EVERYTHING still does its job very well. I'll be giving some custom ROMs and Kernels a try in the not too distant future, without question.
The biggest advantage to using the Nexus 4 is the $42 dollars EVERY month that stays in my pocket as opposed to ending up in the pocket of Verizon. That's just my savings... then there is the savings from my wife too! Almost a thousand dollars, per year, saved by making the switch. Money talks.
Well, it's been fun. The RAZR HD, unlocked bootloader, has been a joy. But, it was time to move on. Not only do I give up my unlocked phone, I also had to give up my unlimited data. But, with Verizon, unlimited data customers can get the 6gb max plan for $30/month, and I never really went over 6 gb but maybe once or twice in the last 2+ years that I had unlimited 4g data.
So, now I'm off to the land of LG with my LG3, which is kind of ironic as an LG Vortex was my first smartphone, so in some respects, I've come full circle.
My lineage of phones was LG Vortex (free on Thanksgiving day but BOY was it slow - it was a budget Android), Droid X2, Droid RAZR MAXX HD, Droid RAZR HD and now the LG G3.
With the XT926 unlocked (for most), this is still a good phone to have and with the recent Lollipop CM12 releases, you know the dev community is hard at work for this phone still, so enjoy. The LG G3 (for the US) doesn't have an official LP yet, but CM12 has been released for it.
Ciao and I'll probably drop in from time to time to still lend assistance for those that are having issues.
Have fun with the phone. I've enjoyed my M8 since I've had it. Hopefully, we'll still see you around here from time to time.

Same here. I had an upgrade available the week of Thanksgiving so I dropped my MAXX HD for the $1 deal on the Galaxy S5. I will say the S5 is lightning fast compared to the MAXX.

Any word on a BL unlock yet? Had one for a couple months. Even with root, I couldn't make TW bearable enough to use anymore. Sold it and tried the turbo for 14 days but wasnt a fan of the ballistic nylon. This phone might be lacking in processor and ram but its still one of my favorite phones.
No word on an unlocked bootloader yet. There are several online petitions to try and get it. One can only hope.
I personally think we will see more and more locked bootloaders on Verizon phones so they can push the developer editions. More money in Big Red's pockets.

I'm stuck wishing the Turbo was unlockable, or the Nexus 6 was smaller, so I'm sticking with ye olde Vanquish for now.

I still have my Razr M, but I sacrificed my unlocked HD for my M8. I just wanted a flagship device, that's why I stepped up.

Funny how I have been thinking of making the same exact jump recently. How do you like the phone?
Just to clarify, the LG is still on 4.4.x, is rootable, and is unlockable? I've learned that I cannot live without my Xposed Framework mods, thus need those three requirements in any phone I decide to go with (well, at least root and 4.4.x, the unlocking is a nice added bonus to flash custom ROMs from time to time). Turbo - out. Nexus 6 - out. G3 seems to be the only logical option, other than the M8 possibly, but I just can't get over the nasty casing on the M8...
I'll be spending the 600 bones full price to keep my unlimited data. Using over 20GB a month every month I'll make back the cost in no time, lol.
...looks like I'll be seeing you soon over in the LG forums now.

The phone for me is great. It's big, but it doesn't feel too big. My one gripe with it is it feels slippery due to the back. But, it feels lighter and so much thinner than the HD. Battery life is pretty good for me as well.
Yes, it's still on 4.4.2, but it has all the 4.4.4 security patches (like the HD). It is rootable up to version 10b. Beyond that, you have to downgrade it back to 10b, which you can do unlike the Razr HD. Once it's rooted via the Stump exploit, you can then get what is called a "bumped" version of TWRP which will then allow you to flash custom ROMs that are "bumped". Basically, it "fools" the phone into thinking what you are flashing is indeed official. So, we have CM11 (official), CM12 (unofficial), BlissPop and many other custom ROMs. But, I'm pretty much happy with this phone out of the box as it is, so I only root it so I can enable writing to the external SD card as well as use TiBu to backup and restore my apps, plus run Greenify just to eek out a little more battery life. But, battery life is definitely better than the RazrHD.
The difference in the screens between the HD and the G3 are night and day. I mean, we have a better pixel density than your 1080p HD TVs! Some may say you can't see the difference, but when I watch movies on my phone, wow. I can see the difference between what the Razr HD had and what this one has. Plus, the 5.5" screen is awesome.
I love the Knock feature, where you can set a "tap" pattern to unlock the phone, even when the screen is off. So, no need to turn on the screen first to unlock it. Just "knock" your pattern and then the screen comes on. Also, if you forget you pattern, fear not. When you set up the knock pattern, it will ask you for a PIN number as a fail safe measure, so if after 10 tries, you don't get the knock pattern correct, it will then ask for your PIN number. I haven't had it fail on me. I love it.
There's so much more, but I don't want to go into G3 love in the HD forums. Suffice it say, yes, I'm VERY happy with it. I might have to say this is the best Android phone I've had yet.

On the plus side, you can now read your emails and surf faster. Is Bluetooth faster? I bet benchmarks are out of this world. Do Mp3s sound crisper?

Nah, didn't drop it. It seemed like the radio was going bad. Kept losing signal. I replaced the SIM card and that seemed to help for a bit, but then it started acting up again. Since I use this as a personal plus on-call phone for work, I needed to get one that was reliable. Yes, the HD was reliable, until the radio went bad.

I personally think Verizon ruined a perfectly good device and will continue to do so in the future. Glad you enjoy your new toy, I'm sure I would too except that my wife has clearly stated I need to stick with this one for quite some time On the plus side, I get her Xperia T to play with so it's not all bad for 'ol seedub...
EDIT: And the fact that it's Google-ish (the HD) means a good upgrade path future-wise. It's always been my argument when people ask me why I don't run with Samsung or the other guys. Personally, I think Samsung is garbage, I was on a tour of their factory while I was in Korea, it's all cool and stuff but they always feel cheap and knock-off to me. Was hoping Rogers would get a Turbo in, I'd switch to that but they only got the Moto G LTE and one other G-like model.

That's what my wife said when I got the HD, that I was never going to upgrade again. Well, once she couldn't text or call me when she needed something that was an "emergency", that changed her tune real quick!
I hated moving away from the HD (due to the unlocked bootloader) and having to lose my unlimited data plan, but once I found out about the 6gb plan, I decided that was fine. I rarely went over 6gb, so to me, it wasn't much of a loss and I got an excellent phone out of the deal for a great price. Still wish I would have upgrade during Thanksgiving/Black Friday when the red one was free. Oh well. I like black better any ways.

I'm about to "accidentally" drop mine out the closed window across the room just to get ANY different phone, lol. "They" really ruined a good thing with these HDs. Should have put more effort into the KK build, not just threw something together as a PR gag ("look, we updated an old model phone. We have great customer service. Blah blah blah.").

So anyone read theres speculation that Lollipop isnt coming to the Note 4 till may. Im not too worried about it myself cause my DE is perfect, however my wife is disappointed (she has retail version) as some of her friends got it on their phones (S5, and some other brands) and she cant understand what's taking so long, after I explained things to her shes not convinced and feels lile we are being screwed. Ahh the joys life.

I'm in the same boat as you. I got the DE and wife got retail. She wants some lollipop. I told her she's out of luck and the only lollipop she'll be getting is from me lol
I love the android system but there is one game I miss the most from apple. Fantastic Contraption. If you never heard of it YouTube it. It is an amazing game. I am sure this is probably one of the dumbest question ever but can it be ported to android?

I miss one thing about apple, camera+ app. The best photo editing app in existence and the developer "tap tap tap" doesn't want to come to android. Just being an a$$.
Other than that apple is like a bad history for me. lol
I learned a shocking feature on iPhones the other day, if you go into the privacy settings there is a feature in there that tracks your address the time you spent there where you travel to everything you do in plain English and very easily accessible. Does android have a feature like that built in? I hope not lol not that I go any place bad it just seemed a little intrusive. I do know they have GPS and all that but that was really precise.

I don't know, but we do have a file in the system called "mobile tracker" that is, I think, used to track your phone just in case you lose it. Not sure, but I usually freeze/delete it with titanium back up. Also, if you're rooted, you can always install xprivacy module that prevents anything you suspect.
What's the longest you guys ever went without rooting your devices? I would say a month, I've just gotten my first Android phone (ZTE Warp) and the bootloader wasn't unlocked yet, I checked the forums every day until I seen the almighty *HOW TO ROOT ZTE WARP* boy was I excited. Ever since then I've never owned a android if I couldn't root it but this might be my first time, I'm looking to purchase the note 4 this April or May I only have the option of getting the att&t or Verizon variant (just my luck, lol) most likely I'll chose which ever gets rooted first. I'm sure by either April or May it should be rooted.

I had my Verizon HTC One M7 for a couple months before it was rooted, and even then you had to send your phone away and pay $25. I think a month or two after that beaups and someone else came up with a method that worked pretty well on linux and that was it. Then I had the M8 for a couple of months until there was a way but it also cost $25 and ran directly on the phone. I'm not so much concerned about root, really. I just want ****ing lollipop.

You know I wasn't so bothered at first by the lack of lollipop, in my past I was changing roms several times a week or day to get things going however thats changed now since I got my DE. What bothers me now now about the delay and the S6 and other things do I want to stay with Samsung anymore after this breaks or I want a new phone. Is it really time to say that Samsung is just isnt what it could should be?

I don't know. I have always enjoyed their product. But the delays can be frustrating. I agree. This is the one thing lacking for me. Yet I still continue to purchase their phones, because in the end they still do make the best phone. Just my opinion of course.
My wife has a retail note 4 and while she doesn't understand all the issues tied with lollipop right now she feels dumped. I dont see the big deal myself as im happy the way my phone is however for roms things have been VERY slow going... but then again im not really sure what other roms are going to bring that I cant do myself. Which I think most of us DE owners can do. I think if root was found and oprn bootloader things might be alot different but whats bothering me is Samsung's direction right now. If this is signs of the Note 5 and 6 etc. I just might go elsewhere. Some videos were released today showing the note 4 against the S6 and only slight speed differences in actual use and even camera loading. So over all for now Im happy to have a removable battery and SD card and a unlocked bootloader.

How about the release of Sprints SM-N910P Lolipop.. Two questions who wants to see what they can do with it and see what works (of course it will lack advanced calling version X. Then comes the question will this influence Verizon to release it.

And yes root and an open bootloader would be nice. Look what happened with the S3 though. But I truly feel that the release and things like the locked bootloaders are not so much the manufacturer but the carrier. I may be wrong but I beleieve that pressure from the carrier is the main reason they do this.

Did you use a regular 2 year upgrade or edge to get the note 4?
Your best bet would be calling customer service. But even that is entirely dependent on how nice of a rep you get. If one says no politely hang up and call back. They make notes on your account when you call so don't call a bunch in 1 day. I work at an authorized retailer and most stores can't do anything after the 14 days.

How much money have you "LOST" due to not being able to root the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge?
So, here we are, April 29th and still no root. I was curious the other day as to how much money I've spent over the years on apps that require root in able to use and were purchased because of the fact that at the time I had a device and always have had one that is rooted. So between the apps such as Clockwork MOD, Chainfires SuperSU, Flashfire, Flashify, Quickboot, ROMToolbox PRO, SDFix, Tasker, OMEGA PRO, Alliance Pro Bronze, Titamium Backup PRO, the endless themes for AOSP theme engine... geez the list goes on.
Final calculations for all apps that I've purchased that are only usable on a device with root = $ 437.88 !!!!

Over the years and iterations of Samsung phones I've been modding less and less. Like with my Note 5 on Sprint. I rooted soon as I got home, Greenify, TB Pro and I was pretty much set for the most part. Stock rooted slimmed down ROM, nothing fancy. I was happy with that. That's really all I want for this S7. When I finally left Sprint (thank goodness!) and made the switch to T-Mobile I really should have checked around here to make sure root was available. I just assumed it was because it's a Samsung phone on T-Mobile and I got so used to my Sprint phones getting root so quickly after launch.
I've been trying out Samsung Pay for a few days now and it's neat but not something I'd miss if I could root the phone. I'm just not feeling this battery life I'm getting so far and it's annoying having to manually hibernate my apps with Greenify. I even added the shortcut (with its own custom icon) on my new theme just to make it quick but it's still lame I have to do it manually.
Some folks would suggest just getting another device if root is so important but I don't think we should have to compromise a fantastic device like this S7 and downgrade just to get root. I want to enjoy this new phone WITH root. I'm happy with T-Mobile so far and it's a big improvement over Sprint (I hate them so much) so I really hope they try harder to help get this phone unlocked. They're the most progressive major carrier around these parts and I hope they do us a solid here.
Only $7 for restocking fee after I returned the S7, plus $32 Otterbox case that I can't use. (Anyone wants it, let me know..)

It is truly disappointing at this point. One thing I am sorely missing from root almost more than any of the hundreds of $$ in apps is Viper4Android. My workouts and "In the Zone" work time is suffering for sure. I really wish there was something more we could do, but at this point, only sharing experiences like these can be passed on to the Big Dogs and hope they'll push Samsung to work with TMo to get the bootloader unlocked. Ah... Viper4Android. Root cannot arrive soon enough! I just woke up and saw a low battery warning on my S7. I went to sleep with 39%.... I don't know what more I can do on this unrooted thing to improve this dang battery!
Firstly, you can't calculate the cost at full price because you have used them prior to switching to the S7. Secondly, you have not lost $438, in fact, as you still have usage access to those apps with another phone that has root.
One would actually make money by participating in the promos: BOGO and reselling the phones, reselling the Gear VRs, and the value of 2 years of Netflix (1 year per device).
Because I'd still rather have root, I found a compromise by doing the promos and getting an International 930F at a good price, and still come out ahead financially.

Well "Firstly", I can calculate the cost at whatever I want. I chose to use an easy way by simply looking at my transactions between Google Play and PayPal. And since MOST of them are actively updated, the value for me is still there. Secondly?? I currently DO NOT have another phone that is rooted or have access to one since I''m currently invested in the S7.
Next, I purchased my phone in April, no promotions, no discounts, nothing, so NO, I cannot "ACTUALLY MAKE $HYYT" off of this, so that statement is completely invalid to this situation.
Last, good for you that you found a compromise... AGAIN, not the case here.
So, basically, instead of coming in and answering the question of the topic, you trolled along in here to try and make my argument invalid. Your free to say what ever you want, I don't have a problem with that, but my statement stands, my money spent is spent and that is the facts. We still do not have an exploit to unlock the bootloader, which is another fact. I do not have another phone to enjoy the applications I've purchased for phones that is rooted, still a fact.

For the people who can't or don't want to waste brain cells on figuring it out, he tallied up the costs of various apps that are root-specific or he purchased with root in mind that he can no longer use, which I'm assuming is just an absolute crapload of Theme Engine themes, and came to the number of $438.
Of course, one could argue that in the past, he's gotten his use out of them, or that when he gets a root-able phone, he'll have those apps waiting for him. One could also argue that it's his responsibility to pick the best device for him, therefore doesn't have a right to feel a sense of loss here due to the aforementioned prior use/future availability along with his uninformed decision, despite the reason he was uninformed.
Don't know what good this would do if it was sent to Legere, but hey. That's why this is a free country. Do you, buddy!
LOL...Wow. I thought people would get this a little better than some of the responses that have been left. At least @psych0r3bel had an idea of what I was going for here. Look, it all goes back to the title and specifically "LOST". For the smart alec and those who just don't get it, first of all, let looks at the definition "quote unquote". 1)The phrase "quote unquote" denotes irony or sarcasm. 2)A quotation mark before and after a word means that it is a verbatim recitation. So, to clear it up, this thread was a place for people to share how much money they've spent on devices that have been able to be rooted to use, but with the locked bootloader on the S7, none of the can be used at the time being. So yes, I gather calculated all my Google Play purchases for apps that are only for rootable phones, all the donations on PayPal, essentially, every dollar I've paid towards software for rootable devices. Very simple, very easy, very laymen. It wasn't meant to be anything other than for a place for people to share how much money they've invested towards root. That's it.
And yes, John Legere does take note to this type of communication. I'm not asking for any money back, that's ridiculous. But, these types of threads when shared, do go noticed and gives a little more fuel to add to the fire when communicating with Samsung. If you want to participate and share towards the intentions of the thread, feel free, but if you don't have anything to share, but sarcasm and insults, please move along.

Why didn't you add in the cost of every case, extra battery and other accessories that also will not work with your new phone?

I've been supporting devs and paying for/donating to developement since my first 'smart' phone TouchPro2.
Every device I have had since has been uniquely different.
Some of the customization (including apps/mods/acc) have been transferable,
Some (including apps/mods/acc) have not been transferable.
But, the expectation that they MUST be transferable is junvenile.
So many people like you with your demanding expectations have chased the real devs away.
You want root so bad,
learn like others have,
become a real dev and stop demanding others do it for you.
You purchased an unroot and bootloader locked phone.
You should have no expectation of root apps working on it.
unless/until you root/unlock it yourself.
With or without the generous knowledge/help of others.

I for one have been happy so far with my phone, but it has only been two days. I was going to hold out for the new Google Pixel phone and had been hoarding all the news I could find about it, but then the worst happened... A cracked screen on my faithful yet never able to root Note4. I have the best hookup at Verizon and choose to stay there so when I called him up and the best thing we could find was a $300 credit for my phone towards a Moto Z, I started my research and realized how amazing this phone looked on paper.
Two days in however, and I already have the feels lurking at my back. I tried a search for root on here and I'm unsure if it's possible and even worth the effort until tried and proven. I'm also missing the ease of plug and play headphones, I'm curious about the stuttering camera that's supposed to be amazing, and I'm questioning if there are any phones I should go to as I have 12 more days to do a return/exchange before I'm locked in.
I realize others have talked about similar subjects, I just want to know if this phone is going to be "future-proof" for the next two years, is it going to ever get more popular so as we can get sustained and confirmed root and better than just 2-3 roms? What's the future of this phone on XDA?
If you want a phone that any of this can be answered in 12 days then this is not the phone for you
This phone probably will not get root..But I bought for the mods ..I loved the projector..Unfortunately my 6p died yesterday. For no reason it just stopped working . Won't turn on and no bootloader mode plus no computer can recognize it. So when the pixel released I will be buying it ..

If it gets root, great, if not, no big deal for me. I had my note 4 for a looong time with no root. And when they finally did root it I didn't even bother anymore. As long as it works good as a phone I can always goof with launchers and widgets to customize/personalize.
This is big Red, this is a Verizon droid phone. No one should expect root and if that's a deal breaker this phone is not for you. If you want a headphone jack and don't want to use the dongle, this phone is not for you. If you want the fastest camera, this phone is not for you.
If you want a well made phone with excellent performance and good battery life, this phone may be for you. If you want a phone with a very good screen and an overall very good camera with good radios, this phone may be for you.

As opposed to the "hassle" of plugging the adapter to the end of your beloved headphones once, and then living the rest of your life as normal?
I'm happy with this phone. It's pretty darn fast and has a newer version of Android. The giant battery mod is sweet, and it has an SD card slot. I'm excited to see what other mods come out.
The only reason I ever rooted was to get free hotspot and newer versions of Android. This phone has free hotspot, and I'm willing to bet we'll get at least Android O. I had enough Bluetooth stuff around to make work.
This phone replaced the two phones I carried everywhere before. It was an adjustment, but I'm happy.
