Can't edit or delete subscribed calendars because there's no "accounts" in settings - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can't edit or delete subscribed calendars because there's no "accounts" in settings
I have the Fire HD8 8th gen Kindle. Running stock Fire OS 6.3.0.1
I do have the Google Play Store and Services added, and running the Launcher Hijack to use the Nova Launcher. But my question is about something else.
I am running the BlackBerry Hub+ Suite for Android, or some of them - the email Inbox, Calendar, Contacts and Notes. Running those includes running the Hub+ Services app which handles all the account syncing with the apps. I'm running all these same apps on my Galaxy S9, which leads to my question about the Fire tablet.
I have several subscribed online calendars that I added on the tablet, and on the S9. They are game schedules for LSU football and baseball games that I have syncing to the calendar apps on both devices. I can add them using the subscribed calendar options within the BB Calendar app. They are then in the system and I can even include those calendar accounts in my Simple Calendar Widget app to show on the Nova Launcher home screen. The problem is that while the account can be added from the calendar app, it does not manage them afterward. Not in the way that the Inbox app manages email accounts, including EAS accounts with their own calendars.
Under normal android, there is an "Accounts" section in settings. I have this on my S9. Also on my old Kindle Fire 1st gen that I rooted and installed the SlimLP (Lollipop) Rom on. But the Fire OS has no such section in Settings. There is a "My Account" section, but that only leads you to the Amazon account settings page. There is no overall list of accounts that can be accessed in the Fire OS. So, I can't change or delete the subscribed calendar. LSU only adds each new season with a new year in the address, so you have to change the address for each new season, or in the case of the HD8, I have to add a new calendar account and just disable the view of the previous season since I can change or delete it like I can on the S9.
All this leads to question, is there an app that I can install that will give me that same access to all syncing accounts that the "Accounts" section in Settings would normally give me? I've searched Google Play store, but can't seem to find the right thing. iCalSync is close. It can create and add the same kind of subscribed calendar account, and edit or delete it later, but it can't see existing accounts created outside of that app.
Is there anything out there that can do what I'm asking?
I really don't want to root the HD8 - just yet. Maybe when I replace it, but not now.

I had the same issue. You can use ADB or download an "activity launcher" app to launch the "com.android.settings.Settings$UserAndAccountDashboardActivity" from the Settings app. When using ADB, make sure to escape the dollar sign:
Code:
adb shell am start -n 'com.android.settings/.Settings\$UserAndAccountDashboardActivity'

Well, the adb command didn't work, but the "activity launcher" suggestion did. I found the sub section of Settings that had the User Accounts, and it all showed up. I was able to delete the problem accounts.
Thanks.

How can I login to Android Market with a different Google account?

I've rooted my Fire and installed the Android Market without a problem. When I
first opened the market I logged in with my Google account to make sure everything
worked. Since I got this device for my dad, I'd rather he log in with his own Google
account. I've cleared the app data, and even deleted and re-installed. I can't get
the option to log in with a different google account and it stays with mine. Is there
a solution to this? Has anyone else experienced this?
Without access to the Account and Sync menu, I believe you'll need to uninstall and do a fresh reinstall of the market
I've uninstalled the market and re-installed with the apk. Or is there a more precise uninstall I should be doing?
In the Android development subforum here the long how to install market thread has reference to getting gmail to sync and those posts reference another thread with a link to a Sync Settings app. That will allow you to add another gmail account or delete one in addition to setting up sync items and auto sync. If I knew the post I'd gladly supply it but all I remember is where I found reference to the app.
Then just add your dad's email then subtract yours. Then to market and your set.
Added: found reference in a thread in this subforum on syncing contacts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19461785&postcount=2

Worked great. I installed "Quick Sync Settings" from the market. Thank you for providing that link.
I just hit "menu" and added an account from the Market. Or maybe GMail. It was pretty simple, really.
The menu from the market app wash giving me the option. Not until I added another gmail account through the sync settings it did.
Hi I have a similar question but just about the amazon app store. I have been using a separate email account to buy apps than the one to buy all my kindles and books. Is there any work around to have both amazon.com accounts logged in or to keep the apps and books installed while I am on my other account or the other?
I have rooted the tablet and have my google market running fine so I might just have to stick to that.
Thank you
Can't you install Anycut from the android market, open it, create new activity, select accounts and sync or whatever the activity is called, and then go from there?
Additionally can you open the Gmail app, menu, accounts, add account...from here, go to the android market and then you should have 2 different gmail accounts to choose between?

Thanks for that. I tried it and it crashes the system. I actually have two account from google on my market, but my main problem is accessing the apps that are registered to my gmail account. Mainly because my kindle account is a separate email and every time you deregister the Kindle it deletes your books or installs the apps.

Yeah I am it's ok. One of thoes things that happens with rooting. I'll just wait and see when a rom comes out or might just try rerooting for the heck of it.
Thanks for your help
Anyone figure out how to remove the main gmail account without having to do a factory reset? I made the mistake of putting in an email address I didn't want to have added. I've already tried adding a second GMail account and removing the primary and got the prompt to factory reset.

[Q] Rooted Kindle w/ Go Launcher vs. Cyanogen

Ok, I've rooted my Fire and installed the Android Market. I've installed Go Launcher, so I have the ability to use the Fire as the "Android Experience" I'm used to with other devices I have.
So what's the benefit of continuing on with installing CM7?
It seems that by installing CM7, I lose out on the Amazon services that I would still like to use. True?
One problem I had with stock roms, is Google apps. For example, I could easy enough install Android Market, Gmail, etc... But gmail would not give me notifications of new email. Maybe because I could not enable it to "sync" because the settings area is different then normal android. (Account & Sync missing)
on the stock rom we can use "any cut" from the market - in any cut select "new shortcut" -> "activity" -> "account & sync"
then you have a shortcut to account & sync on the desktop
you can try even more activities - they are nearly all there but not displayed in settings !
Another way on the stock rom is to install ICS launcher and add power widget. There you have wifi control screen brightness and sync.

You have the sync adapter correctly setup?

Calendar sync

I have my KF rooted and the aneroid market installed and running, and Google apps installed. Is there a way to get my Google calendar to sync to my kindle?

Which Google apps do you have installed, do you have your Gmail synced? That should allow you to sync your calendar
Go into your "Account & Sync Settings" and make sure calendar is checked marked

Account and sync settings on my computer? On the kindle there is no account and sync settings. Yes I have Gmail synced on my kf.

as far as i know you have to add GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk and GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk to system/app - set permissions like the others and reboot - then gmail mail & calender sync should work ...

There is an account sync settings app you can get from the market, out it is included in the iffy utility. You also need the calendar sync adapter which you can get from another Android device or the iffy utility.

there are a lot of settings on the kf we cannot access but there is a app on the market called "any cut" - with this app you can link the hidden settings to a shortcut on the desktop - any cut -> new shortcut -> activity -> Account & Sync Settings
there are a lot of others like keyboard, display, search ...

I tried the any cut app and now I have it all.set up. But I think you are right about the apks. Do you know where I can get them? And better yet..... what do I do with them? All I have done is root my kindle and followed the you tube video in how to get the market on my kindle.

I think the calendar files you're looking for might be in the gapps.zip file from this thread. Just follow the instructions.

Awesome! Thanks. It seems that I am no longer rooted?! Is it possible that while my 3 year old was playing around with my kf she unrooted it? Odd....my android marketplace still works, its just that root checker is saying I am no longer rooted. Will start from scratch in the morning.
Thanks again.

Hmmm, did you have root access after you received the 6.2.2. update?
There's no need to be rooted in order to install the apks I provided. You may have become unrooted because you finally received the newest update, it's possible I don't know if that is why though

Add Google Contacts & Contacts Sync; Get a neat surprise

***UPDATE SEPTEMBER 22, 2017***
Please note: This little trick still works, however if your tablet runs FireOS 5.4.0.1 or greater, you will NOT be able to uninstall Amazon's contact app.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure if this applies to the Fire 7, but I wanted to post here because this is a really neat little surprise (I held back posting as long as I could lol). We spend so much time trying to disable Amazon's functions and apps, we forget that not everything about FireOS is bad.
This little trick actually utilizes some of FireOS and Amazon's customizations. Check out this thread and see if this might work for you: Add Google Contacts & Contacts Sync; Get a neat surprise.
it works (contact and sync apks), now personalized labels are not overwritten by amazon apps
Google has released their contacts app to be compatible with all Android devices running 5.X and above. You can go to the Play Store and update the app here. You MUST KEEP contact the sync app if you already have it. The little bit of customization as a result of adding contacts, remains the same I believe. Just tap 3 bars at top left > settings > tap your name > set yourself up. I just flashed Fire Nexus to my Fire 7 and the process was still applied. I am not sure why it just doesn't add your picture already associated with your Google Account (if you already have one selected).
If most of your contacts have been duplicated after updating contacts app, go to your google Contacts page on the web and look at the menu on the left. If there isn't one, tap the 3 bars at top left and select duplicates. That will bring up all your duplicate contact names. Then select 'merge all' which will merge them together including the info.

Fire HD 8 Contacts Won't Work

I have an HD 8 2018. Fire OS 6.3.0.0. Rooted with Magisk and TWRP. I've install all the pieces for Google Play. Play is working. Gmail is working. Calendar is working.
But Google Contacts refuses to sync. If I clear the data it will ask me to create an account. If I try to use my Google account it says "account is already on device." But I don't seem to be able to select the account I'm already logged into.
Did I perhaps disable some package I shouldn't have? I went back in and "pm enable" on every package with "contacts" in the name.
Any ideas?
I have not used it, but it appears there are several amazon apps that relate to contacts that might interfere with it.
Contacts Sync Adapter pm disable com.amazon.dp.contacts You can disable this if you want to use Google Contacts
Facebook Sync Adapter pm disable com.amazon.dp.fbcontacts You can disable this if you want to use Google Contacts
Contacts pm disable com.android.contacts
This one might need to be uninstalled and install google contacts from the play store.
This was from a thread to remove apps from fireOS 5.6.0.0, but i still find most of this to be useful. I haven't tested this at all..

Yes. But it asks for you to login to an account. If I try to use the account that is already installed and working for Play, Calendar and Gmail it tells me that account already exists but doesn't let me select it.
The built-in Amazon contacts app *does* work and lets me select the account. So I've got that as a work-around. I want Google Contacts though.
