I've lost my baseband. External USB modem ?

So its clear to me . I have no EFS partition backup and my baseband is unknown (IMEI null/null ). Only option is to replace the main-board .
I was wondering if there is some way to still be able to use the phone to make calls and stuff. Is there some device like those portable 3g wifi hotspots that can actually connect to my phone over Wifi or usb and provide "phone" functionality to my note 3 ?

What did you do to mess your phone up?
My guess is that it is firmware related, try searching, for some it is enough to just full flash the handset. unknown baseband is a firmware/modem problem, or hardware issue.
So don't give up mate.
But you have a few options
First try all the suggestions on xda
Second buy an asansam box + z3x autoignition micro uart cable (http://www.ipmart.com/main/product/...ged,with,2,pcs,cables,,341410.php?prod=341410 only 79 USD. Remember to buy the UART cable.)
Third buy a gmate (External modem as you suggested) (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gmate-Wir..._MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item33900123f8)
Final and last solution, go to a Samsung service center
I would go for the Asansam box. The price on a gmate or an Asansam box is the same, and then you would not have to deal with an external bt modem.
I own an Asansam, and I am really glad for it, it is really an all in one toolkit for Samsung users.
And I am willing to help you out using teamviewer to get the handset up and running again
Best regards

Thats exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks. Your reply has been one of the most informative ones for me. Here is my original thread. Few more questions:
Is Asansam box going to work in my case? Its the 32 GB hong kong n9005. I have no EFS backup. IMEI is null/null and baseband is Unknown
How usable is the GMate ? is it worth the effort or just get a new mainboard ?
Samsung in my country cannot repair the phone since N9005 is not release here (N900 is). Also my knox is 0x1 . If I change my mainboard, can I do it from any country where the N9005 is available ?

Yup Asansam box is working on all variants of N9005.
I have never seen Gmate in use, I would check diff reviews out
Yes, it is the same PCB
But in my mind the Asansam is clearly the best solution for you, and cheapest. It is really a must have tool

I am quite positive about your asansam box solution. Its just that I want to be extra sure that its going to work in my case before I invest in purchasing it. Also, do samsung service centers have this device? Or is it an 'illegal' tool just for the modding community and the like. I wonder if someone has the asanbox in India.
Here is the official reseller in India. Is it the correct product ? Please let me know which uart cable to get with this (a link on the website itself).
So should I go ahead with this? I'm totally relying on you for this. Just for the record : I have a Galaxy Note 3 SM-9005 Hong Kong version. Currently on stock 4.4.2 Poland Kitkat with 4.4.2 Bootloader. Everything works perfect except :
The Baseband is UNKNOWN
The IMEI is NULL
Serial number is present but not the one written on the box
I did not backup my EFS folder before doing the Kitkat upgrade. Here is my original thread.
I will be the happiest person on earth if this works

I am loving my asansam.
It is a tool for none official repair centers arround the world, and unlockers. My guess is that someone in India also has an Asansam box. But why pay 20-40 USD for a repair when a new only cost 79 USD?? Then you will also be able to help your friends out. But this text is seriously misleading
IMEI Changing, Editing or repairing is illegal!!
This box does not repair, change or edit imei of any handset.
This box is not capable of changing or editing or repairing imei of any handset.
We are not responsible if you use these box with any third party software for any illegal operation.
This box is just an interface between mobile phone and computer. We do not sell any software.
If it is an official reseller then you will get an Asansam box + sim card, and not just the interface. Then It will work with the official asansam suite, which can be found here:

I would clearly buy it, it will work, if it is not an hardware issue, and I surely doubt that it should be hardware related. It can easily fix unknown baseband. But take a look on their forum, and I will gladly help you using teamviewer to get your phone up and running again.
This should work (http://www.icables.in/uart-cable-set-for-samsung-with-5-pro-cables.html), but I have never used these cables. I have only used the z3x auto ignition cable that Asansam also recommend.
It can be found here:http://www.gsmsp.com/products/Servi...able_powered_by_GPGIndustries_1209_16502.html
But you could ask the supporter on gsmhosting if N9005 4.4.2 firmware is supported, but it should be supported in Asansam 2.5.1
Best regards

Thanks for your support. I've sent the phone to a service center that has the asansam and SPT box. Lets hope it works. Else, I'll send it back to Samsung UAE for motherboard replacement.

Sim card not working.. modem required ?

i9500 Build no. LRX22C.I9500XXUH0A7....
I managed to screw up my modem by flashing a custom rom's modem since then I can't find the one for my current stock based russian lollipop rom.
Plz plz help me, My sim card isn't working anymore. What are possible sollutions now ?
Thanks in advance.
There are no custom ROM modems.
All modems are extracted from official Samsung ROMs.
Your options are to flash modems until you find a working one or flash the stock ROM altogether.

what? That's already a stock one, ain't it ? what do you mean by altogether ?
I had this exact issue a month after purchasing the device. In my case, it turned out that the issue was the SIM card tray failing. You'll need to open up the device and replace the SIM card tray, a job which takes about ten minutes.
Finally found out it's problem with IMEI no / EFS?? Anyway to recover that ?
If you don't have a backup of your EFS, you're screwed. The device will have to be serviced.
Try flashing a stock rom to the phone. Sometimes, this will restore the imei.
I9305xxblk5 (device status modified) network problem how can I fixed it

Got it fixed in PKR = 500 which are equal to almost 5 USD.
Glad it started working now.. Wish I'd done it myself but anyway...... Thanks alot everyone for helping out.
The first thing I did now is I backed up the EFS, God never had backed up efs ever. Oh well.

Unfortunately EFS contains sensitive data from a device. If you lost your IMEI you may want to bring over your phone to a phone service.

I hope it was possible.but let me make u understand my points:-
1.There is no service center which is accepting an old phone like s4,they all are saying we can't serve this phone anymore.
2.Its out of warranty so even if it was possible it would cost around 40$ here which i don't think is a possible amount to be paid for(considering point 3).
3. The only hope i get is go out and find some local service center who could repair this but I've searched the whole city and the situation is the best guy i found said it cant be done I could replace your motherboard for 40$.
So the only option i get is get someone's s4 efs backup and restore it manually by editing through hex editor and restoring my stock imei. So please help me.
@vaibhav.2kumar: Restating your request isn't going to help you any. The EFS partition contains the IMEI of the phone, although nv_data.bin is now stored elsewhere. If one of the forum members were to offer their EFS, they would be committing an illegal act. This site is hosted in the United States, and in the United States cloning an IMEI is illegal. Period. The person offering the EFS would at best be banned, and at worst open up XDA to legal action. Thus no one can provide you a copy of their EFS partition.
I seriously cannot believe that Samsung service centers are unwilling to service the S4. Especially as in the United States they were still available for purchase through prepaid carriers such as Straight Talk up until the end of last year and possibly into the early portion of this year. So I have to question whether you truly tried to get this device serviced, which is what you need to do, or are trying to con someone out of their IMEI so a blacklisted phone can be used again.

Maybe if i cant get your s4's efs. But i can demand help from you I'll show you my s4's bill my id proof and my s4's box and you can compare all those imei's and thus help me in restoring my imei by changing your efs backup at least and by the way i dont live in us. I live in india for your details. If you could, please help me get my phone's imei back with legal actions i would really be helpful of you.
PS. Yes I've tried all the service centers in my city.period.
Clearly you are not quite comprehending what is being said. I'll try and simplify things for you.
1. Demanding help only makes readers not want to help you.
2. If none of the Samsung authorized service centers in your home city are willing to do the work, start looking outside the city.
3. The only legal option is to send your device to a service center.
If the service centers are truly unwilling to service the S4 (highly doubtful), then you're going to be purchasing a newer device.

Is the H872PR version the same as H872 (T-Mobile)?

Hello all, I have the LG G6 H872PR, it's from Claro Puerto Rico, they were selling them at $317 with tax for a couple of days so I grabbed one obviously....this version doesn't let me change the launcher to the app drawer version nor let me download themes, also LG Smart World just ask me to connect the watch if I side-load it....My question if someone knows is....could I flash the T-Mobile kdz? I'm pretty sure it's the same phone and the PR in the model it's just the Claro software...
You can?
Were you able to do it? I'm looking for answers too. Thanks
I'm having the same thoughts. Also, I wonder if we're eligible for the 2-year warranty promise(?), the site won't accept my IMEI as valid so I assume not.
Is from lg caribbean, not us

Thank you.
So, did any one do it?
Has anyone tried it? The H872PR got no update at all, but the H872TN and H872BK already got oreo. I had checked the firmware at- lg-firmwares.com- . I want to get oreo but I'm not going to risk it

If anyone is wondering,

I took the risk. I flashed H872TN oreo to my Claro H872PR and it won't turn on at all. I did researches and tried everything and it wont boot at all.
Please, DO NOT TRY IT AT ALL COST.

Do you have any clue how to fix it?
Should I send it back to the seller? ( I didn't bought it from an official LG store, but it does have 1 year warranty)
I have contacted the seller. I told them the phone just won't boot at all. I also asked if the repairing procedures broke the water proofing, will they send a new unit.
And they replied "We will fix it with no cost at"
Do they really know how to fix it and is it possible?
I'm currently in the same situation as this guy https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/help/g6-hard-bricked-t3757370
But his phone is already fixed by RMA https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg6/comments/815ug3/lg_g6_hard_bricked/

Sadly no I do not. My aplogies. I just thought I should throw my 2 cents in about the partitions.
@Denversmartphone may be able to help you. I've noticed he posts lots of logs involving repairing G6s but he never really explains how it's done. From the logs we can see he restores from SD card but that's where my digging ends.
no hope to repair lg g6 in hard brick..i repair lg g6 dead boot yes but not in sd card way..all the way i try was wrong.. lg g6 is not unbrickable..i repair with jtag pro box... but you can only repair the h870 and the h873, i repair my h871 with loader of the h873 but not fixit..yes the phone will boot and can connect to pc, but the driver of the lcd are "caput" so in practis i cannot see the lcd even if you put it one new..i cannot fix my phone until someone release a h871 kdz...for the h872 there isn't any hope..but specialy for the lg g6 there isn't any hope for fix the dead boot..hope someone one day will find a way to fix it in qfil

That's where a leaked engineering aboot would help like the V20 guys got. Unfortunately it doesn't work for the G6.
LG has us guys all chasing a pot of gold. The G6 is the first phone I've ever had this much trouble with but it's such a beautiful device.

So, what should I do now?
Should I send my H872PR back to the seller? I just contacted the seller and said that the phone didn't boot at all. He told me he would fix it for no cost. (1year international warranty) Do you think the warranty work in this situation?
I bought it from China(took 2 weeks to arrive). But it wasn't an official LG store. Can they fix it??

My last resort is to send my H872PR back to the seller under 1year international warranty. Does the warranty apply in this situation?
Do you think they can fix it?
also, is it worth waiting 2 weeks just waiting for my phone to arrive at the seller?
well...i suggest you yes to give back to the seller, you have to say to him that somethink going wrong when come the update to you..so say i just update my mobile and the phone doesn't boot anymore..they will repair for free if it is in waranty...they have a professional and expencive box i think for repair phone..only lg have a official kdz file and loader for unbrick..nobody can unbrick without rawprogram.xml and patch..i have the firehose ufs for the lg g6 but without rawprogram and patch.xml we cannot unbrick

we lie everyday..sometimes all humans make a mistake and sometime not..sometime we lie and sometime not..btw lie is not that bad in this position..because also smartphone seller lie to us...they can give to us a simple unbrick file..but they didn't in this way you have to spend more money because you must replace a motherboard..and now tell me it is correct pay all my money just because i want experimentation somethink? the phone is not broken the phone just need his file again..and why i cannot repair and im forced to replace a motherboard?

Yea, I agree with you. I don't like to lie either. But, should I tell the seller the truth? that I tried flashing wrong firmware (H872TN to my H872PR) just to get Oreo 8.0?
I'm afraid that if I tell the truth, they won't even bother trying to repair the phone at all.
And, even if they did repair it, do you know how much does it cost?
