EEA 10.3.30 to 10.3.2.0 = anti rollback brick? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hello.
Hope you can help because I'm kinda confused atm
My device is redmi note 7 lavender, came stock with EEA (european global) rom.
I recently unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp, tried a few roms (xiaomi.eu, crdroid, phh-treble gsi, etc). Currently using crdroid without issues.
Previous to all this I was using stock EEA 10.3.2.0 firmware and then sideloaded ota for 10.3.3.0.
According to this post this phone has ARB
What I'm wondering is if I were to go back to stock firmware, would I brick my device? Because the only available fastboot version for EEA is 10.3.2.0 which is older I guess, but I'm not sure exactly how ARB works and it that would trigger it.
Thanks in advance

I recommend that you do not return to the previous version, sometimes the ota bring changes in the bootloader, and you can leave it hardbrick as it happened with several Motorola, even with devices that have a Qualcom processor. Expect that someone else has done it or that the software is released to an equal version.
start to investigate the changes that were added
I leave this link you fence to interest move from the EEA to the global version

If you're asking specifically about turning back from 10.3.3 to 10.3.2, then there is no problem (I went from 10.3.3 to 10.3.2 to 10.3.3 again and everything is ok).

My RN7 is global, came with 10.2.3.0 as stock, I updated via OTA to 10.3.5.0, and I was wondering if I try rolling back to 10.2.7.0 (As I didn't find any rom of 10.2.3.0 for global PFGMIXM) it will trigger the ARB? thanks in advance (both have lvl 4 in adb query)

Don't. Just bricked my phone.

Sorry to bother but, did you bricked going from which-to-rom, using TWRP or the mi-flashtool?

Rolling back firmware only through twrp, trying to get previous drivers for international version which bug less on proximity sensor.
As the phone is unlocked I might have found a way to restore from brick without physically opening the phone. Will keep you updated.
Edit/Update: yipeee!!
Need to completely flash the phone based on the procedure detailed here. And reflash whatever custom ROM afterwards as you get back to stock.

Just rolled back from Global 10.3.5.0 to 10.2.7.0 with MI Flash Tool (fastboot rom type). 0 problems, seems you can rollback from your MIUI 10 ROMS of the same version(EEA with EEA, Global with Global, etc, and of course that these roms have same ARB 4), at least worked for me, posting this future records.

Actually firmware tool (as opposed to twrp) is the way I reset ARB.

Back to stock ROM. How?

Hello guys,
Im using an ZTE Axon 7 with unkocked bootloader, rooted, and using a custom ROM and twrp. I **** to try the original and latest version of the official ROM to see how well the performance are. Is there a package for this that can be installed using TWRP and after it has been installed, my phone is in the original state again?
I saw an update on the ZTE website from 25/07/2018. (Version B35) Is this Android 8?
https://www.zteusa.com/axon-7
Can I install this package by using TWRP aswell?
Flash a zip package in twrp. But flash an twrp image after the rom. The stock rom overwrites the twrp with stock recovery.
Thanks! So, no matter wich bootstock Im using, I can just install the zip from te ZTE website using TWRP and that's it?
EDIT: on the website, there is only A2017U model. No G or A. Does this matter?

It does matter.
Flash this instead so you keep TWRP.

That is also an option. But I still prefer the latest version from te website as I hope that this is Android 8 and want to really have it at factory stock again.

The B35 (U-version) is 7.1.1
Try this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-dfnr-t3744388
It's totaly stock or at least derived from the B35 that you want.
Or make your day and try this 8.0.0 : https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/official-beta-android-8-0-0-v2-10b12-t3797085
Beta, U version based but definitely worth a try
Or go back to factory with the @djkuz EDL Tool. The B35 is in the OP. https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/axon-7-edl-tool-flash-backup-restore-t3750759

B35 (from that site) is Nougat, not Oreo.
Oreo was not released officially so you won't find it in the ZTE website.
The current release (B12) is a -buggy- beta and missing some features. It's really not worth it. Battery life is atrocious (probably less than 2hs SoT).
You're better off with B10 (latest for A2017G) or B35 (latest for A2017U).
Those are the latest official firmwares for the phone and both are Nougat 7.1.1. Pay no attention to the numbers, as B10 is identical (update wise) to B35. Flash whatever you like. There's really no other option.
If you prefer the original stock experience with nothing touched or removed/added, you will have to flash a firmware via EDL mode. But that way you lose TWRP unless you replace recovery.img with a compatible TWRP version before flashing with Xiaomi Flash and your device is completely erased.
Forget about Oreo for the moment.

Change ROM from China to Global

Hello,
I just got a Redmi Note 7 Chinese variant but I live in India and the Chinese MIUI isn't that great. I want to change it to the global ROM. I have the fastboot ROM downloaded and even the recovery ROM. I'm hoping that someone has already addressed the issue but I'm posting this because I'm not able to find any. My phone is currently running MIUI China 10.2.13 and it has received the 10.3.4 update. I haven't updated it since it might increment the arb index. Can anyone give me a confirmed, safe and working method to change my software from China to Global? I understand the risks of bootloader unlocking and all.

Will I receieve OS upadates if I convert China Version OP8 Pro to Global Version?

I'm planning on buying Oneplus 8 Pro from China, then convert it into Global Rom. Does anyone know if flashing global rom will allow the device to receieve auto updates on the OS? Also will I be able to relock the bootloader after flashing the global rom?
Has anyone tried this? Thank you!
Yes you will receive updates. I've got the Chinese version and the seller flashed with official global rom.

Hi. As title says could someone share this tool for the CN HydrogenOS OP8P? No results show up online. There's a similar thread for the Oneplus 7T Pro Mclaren Edition.
Just in case, for safekeeping.

Could you elaborate a bit:
What OOS did you have on your device prior to using international MSM?
Was it EU OOS, US OOS? They are actually the same software wise i think but it's not the same region.
Does your fingerprint still work after using the tool?

Ok so basically:
1.You bought your phone from China, it's the IN2020 chinese OP8P.
2.When you received it, you already had OOS on it, the seller made sure to flash it before shipping.
3. Can you tell me what was the latest OOS version you had prior to switching to DP4?
International/North American OOS is 10.5.13.IN11AA
European OOS is 10.5.12.IN11BA
I live in EU and once my device arrives i wanna make sure if the seller put EU OOS on it, in the case i brick the phone i can safely use the MSM tool which is tied to my OOS region.
Basically my confusion is: do i have to use the MSM tool of the device region or the MSM tool of the software region? That's it.
From what i understand, you had International / NA OOS on a Chinese phone and used international MSM and all works fine. Which means it's based on software region and not the device itself.
Thanks a bunch

Fixing Widevine state

Widevine is currently L3, but I need it L1.
Oneplus 8 Pro IN2020, 11.0.4.4.IN11BA
Radioactive kernel 2.1.4
Magisk 22.0, manager is already hidden, reboot done. Widevine is still L3.
What am I missing?
Maybe something in this recent thread:
Drm downgrade
Hi, i have oxygen os 11.0.2.2 and a few days ago i realiesed that my drm level downgraded from l1 to l3 randomly, i also red that other users have been experiecing this. Do you have any solutions? Thank you

Thanks man. I did a little read-up on the issue and it looks like a mess. There is basically no straightforward way to fix the DRM level. I've tried deleting data/cache, reinstalling Netflix, whatever possible solutions I found and they didn't work.
That method with rolling back to Android 10 could possibly work, but I'm not going that route. It's too much to do to fix a little issue, and even then it's not guaranteed to work.
It may be easier than you think. I'm on an Op8T 5G but the devices are similar. Install HideProps in Magisk https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...safetynet-prop-edits-and-more-v5-4-0.3789228/ then from a terminal emulator (like Termux) type (separate lines are semicolons: su; props; then go through the list of approved uploaded fingerprints and select an EU one for your same device. Then reboot. Worked on my Op8T when my Widevine dropped to L3 after a BL unlock. Right back to L1 after. Good luck!
Use Magisk Hide Props config direct link here install in Magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachments/magiskhidepropsconf-v5-4-0-zip.5189681/

I've had a fingerprint installed for EU firmware, but it still doesn't help. I pass SafetyNet, but Widevine is always L3. I'm starting to think this has something to do with the fact that I flashed EU firmware onto Chinese (IN2020) phone, in order to get faster updates, than for International firmware. Anyways, I think I can live without Netflix
Hi Everyone -- I have had a OP8 Pro rooted for a long time on L1, and just noticed it got changed to Widevine CDM System ID 8159 and L3 with the latest OTA updated. I am familiar with props config and tried switching to EU firmware all to no avail -- nothing changes.
Since the OP8 Pro are so cheap now, I bought a new one and will just use the MSM tool to flash this back to it's original state, and give it to the wife / sell it etc.
The magic question is this -- OnePlus said this only happened with some devices -- so if I unlock and root the new one is it going to go to L3, or does no-one have any idea?
BTW -- I contacted support and they said I could either send it in now for a flash, or wait for an update that will fix the issue?
No-one seems to know what the root cause is.
Also, I guess a new update is coming out any day for IN2025...? Maybe that will fix it?
Thanks for any info
MW.
I should say that the latest update (11.0.5.5) has changed Widevine to L1. OnePlus fixed it without my intervention!

I booted into EDL mode and flashed 11.0.4.4 EU firmware via MSM tool. This essentially overwrites any previous software on your phone.
After flashing, you need to unlock bootloader again via developer settings. And also update to 11.0.7.7 via OTA. Most likely, the DRM-level will be fixed after all these manipulations.
