Huawei Nova 3i lagging while charging - Huawei Nova 3i Questions & Answers

So my girlfriend owns this Huawei Nova 3i device, whenever she puts her phone on charging, the phone starts to lag big time. She has tried optimizing the phone, clearing all the background apps but that just won't work. Is there anything that can be done? Also what might be causing this issue?

Hi there , thats actually a somewhat common issue in some phones it could be a wide range of factors but commonly this due to
1-) Software (the most common one , this does not present any danger and it is most of the time a sort of security measure so the phone doesnt overheat when it is being used and charged at the same time)
2-) Faulty Charger / Charger with not enough current
3-) Software Issues , this is different in the sense that this is due to a buggy os or application and its not by choice of the manufacturer , to fix this you could try reflasing the stock rom
But as you can see this issue does not represent a real sign of damage on the phone , my personal recommendation would be to first change the charger and second to factory reset (backup everything first!) and if that doesnt work , reinstalling the most recent stock rom may just work.

Phone freezing in deep sleep; should I request an RMA?

I've been having a recurring problem where my phone will lock up in a deep sleep, leaving the phone completely off. In order to restart the phone, I have to hold Power and Vol Down which takes me to a charging logo, and then hit power again. This generally happens overnight when the phone is charging, but I've also had it happen once while making a VoIP call. I thought I resolved the issue by wiping the phone and flashing the stock 4.2 ROM. However, the issue just occurred last night after 4 days of bug-free usage.
My question is whether this is some sort of weird software bug or a hardware issue. I haven't seen others report identical behavior but I've seen lots of complaints about freezing and random reboots that seem to be due to software. Should I request an RMA?
+ 1 . I am having the same issue. I would say hang tight. Call the support team and let them know you are having issues. If atfer a few weeks the problem persists perhaps go through an rma. I suspect it is software related. Lets say you did RMA still had the issue then had a dead pixel or other problem? It would suck and you would have to go through the whole process again. rinse and repeat. Only if you want to return the device for a full refund, then I would say hurry up and make that call. My .02 Good luck.

Having the same issue. Although no clear pattern is visible. Sometimes I find the phone dead-locked after putting it aside for 10 minutes and sometimes it seems to run for a day or even two without issue. Running _motley kernel right now without any change on this front.
I rather think it's a software issue than hardware. So I am not going to RMA it.
Strangely when I power off the phone on such a lock-up and then reboot it I will see a substantial drop in battery after the reboot. So the phone seems to be in some state where it still drawns more battery than in normal operation. E.g. with _motley kernel and limited clocks I typically see 3-5% battery drop over night only. When it locks up during the night and I reset it in the morning then battery usually drops much more (e.g. 30-50% is gone). Maybe it's caused by some hanging/deadlocked driver.
If you full factory reset and flashed then i'd say some app of yours is causing the issue.

In fact I got the device in dec 2012. Started to set it up and then decided to root it (including full factory reset). I only have a very minor amount of system-level applications installed. Actually the main reason to root was to use Voltage Control as I intended to limit clock rates and (if possible) voltages the same way I was used to do it on my Galaxy Tab 7 (P1000) where I was very pleased with 6-days battery lifetime.
Initially I found the minimum clock rate was set to 1GHz and I have reduced it to 304MHz (minimum with stock kernel). When I discovered first freezes/lock-ups then I reverted to default settings and found it still locking up occasionally. Meanwhile I am using _motley kernel which seems to include some voltage mod as well. Although Voltage Control does not show options to modify voltages. Then I found Trickster MOD which shows some voltage control but it seems to have no effect (at least I was used my galaxy tab to crash when undervolting too much and it's pretty "strange" to be able to set all clock voltages to 0.6V while still running stable; so I guess the settings won't have any effect right now).
I have also tried to remove all modifications and applications and/or profiles which could cause the issue without any difference. Even when run stock settings it occasionally completely locks-up the device.
Edit: I was wrong regarding voltages. In fact I found my device happily works at 1134MHz using 600mV. Since I am used to limit max clock rates to 810MHz I could simply put all voltages to 600mV without seeing a crash/reboot.
CAUTION: This does not necessarily have to apply to all devices. My one is "faster" binned Rev. 11 device. Some voltages of different users are collected here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnlqtEwFJwR6dE55WkZYSThEM3U4SGtKMVl2V1VqMmc#gid=0

Help:( phone charge problem!?!?

hi guys i have a probelm which i mentioned in a rom post but no one seemed to have an answer/not care.
My phone EVEN though its plugged in charger it chargers down?! Even small usage and its a no go. It will only charge if i dont go on it. Its been happening for 3 days now and ive had this phone for 2 months.
I have:
Original out of box samung usb charger (no mains supplied)
firmware NC4
ROM google play edtion 6/19/14
KT kernel - settings are: conservative, cfq, no oc/uc, gpu 320-545, fast charge disabled.
Tried kt + row too.
Phone is reading 61 degree temp not charging only on chrome writing this thread.
61 degrees is too hot for this no? Maybe i have virus/malware/trojan?
I dunno but plz any info would be helpful many many thanks
Backup your important data/app .apk files to your external sd (app backup and restore on play store) then do a hard reset. Clear cache and dalvik cache if possible first. I'm no expert, but that's usually a common software side solution. Hardware would probably be next. You could also use battery diagnostic apps or even virus/malware apps.
Hard reset will not work ive tried that before on a previous phone years back. The problem eventually came back. I dont think its hardware coz phone is brand new (2months old) not dropped or owt. Maybe its an app but i deleted one recently cant remember now and since then bam! Phone over heats like fire. Phones not slow, no lag just battery drain is at its worst and over heay is terrible

Graphical corruption and random (frequent) app crashes?

Hi everyone,
So I have a really really strange issue with my phone lately and that is: I get a lot of graphical corruption and random app crashes (any app, including system apps like the Samsung or Google ones), I did in the past do some overclocking but that was way more than 6 months ago and this issue just popped up about 1 month ago and my battery life is now also really short and the phone can show 40% and shut down or show 20% and shut down and then when I plug it in I get the battery charger indicator with 50%+ battery left.
Now here's an even weirder thing: that is not specific to any ROM and happens on more than one, any TW 5.1.1 ROM I try and even on CM13.
I do use multi-boot but I did test the ROMs even without a multiboot environment and those things still happen.
So I was thinking that it might be that my battery is dead (although apps say it's healthy) as I've seen phones doing that when the battery is close to dead but since I can't really purchase a new battery in my country I would like to ask if someone has an opinion on this?
Could this be a hardware defect or something broken in my "hidden" Samsung-specific partitions or is it just the battery, has anyone else encountered this?
I really would like to know how big of a chance it is that my phone is somewhat of a brick before wasting a lot of money to buy a new battery from an other country.
As you can see most of the photos I took have either missing letters or strangely colored letters but that's because that's the graphical glitches I get most, the worse ones have big parts or even half of the screen totally black, UI elements extended awkwardly with gray outlines, strange colors on-screen and missing whole UI elements.
Sorry for the potato quality....took the photos with my Redmi Note 2 with CM12.1 instead of MIUI7 cause I am too sleepy to wait for it to reboot into the other ROM (and I think I wiped the whole cache+dalvik on my last CM update so the boot would take a long time since it would need to do the whole optimization for MIUI7 as well).
Also a photo of Settings crashing, all I did was just open it, saw the settings list and after a second crash.
NOTE: I am on a 100% clean install right now (wiped EVERYTHING including internal storage) and I barely even managed to get past the setup wizard since it kept crashing.
Thanks for any help/opinions/ideas.
No one knows anything?
How can I get it
Sent from my Q510s using XDA Free mobile app
New battery and did a full odin reflash (with SEA pit file), even updated to 6.0, bugs still here but way less frequent, crashes not here anymore after update to 6.0 but still here before even with a 5.1.1 reflash and clean install, seems like the phone is as good as gone, will try to send it to warranty to see what happens but don't expect much since "Knox Warranty Void=1".
Lesson learned: if such bugs start popping up for any of you guys even if the battery is not in a good state you'd end up better just buying a new phone since your note 4 is quite surely done and gone.

Help! Note 4 freezing, crashing and constantly rebooting.

Its been a long time since iv been this stumped, about a week ago my phone started acting very strangely, laggy performance, freezing randomly and occasionally rebooting itself, now its getting worse, getting to a point where the phone is probably rebooting itself 5-6 times a day, iv uninstalled every app, iv factory reset it, wiped cache, replaced battery, removed the SD card (in case of file system corruption) using Samsung Smart Switch did an emergency flash back to original Rom, installed every troubleshooting app out there, monitored RAM and CPU usage, all i can see is that the CPU suddenly spikes to 100% with no real reason, i cant link any particular app or process thats causing this, all of the cores on the processor appear to be coping with no faults.
The only thing i can think of thats causing this issue is either iv got a pending hardware failure on the board, or possibly bad blocks on the nand memory, however i cant see any simple way of determining this without rooting and using the likes of ODIN or other 3rd parties etc - linux commands etc.
I dont want to root it particularly if i can help it as i was thinking about selling it on to mazuma or the like and let them sort it out instead, but i think i might have to bite the bullet and try it.
Can anyone suggest anything that i might have missed?
Actually iv seen an existing thread which appears to match my issues, so iv installed wakelock on the phone for now which seems to be helping a bit, time will tell, however this isnt a solution but more of a work around, but im still thinking this could be a motherboard issue myself, however, as i think this phone is over 2 years old, i doubt samsung will replace the component, nor would they necessarily believe me if i turn around to them and say its the board that needs replacing!

[Q] change the battery or throw the cellphone away?

Hi guys
I have my note 4 (n910f) since 2015. I have changed the battery twice when they became unstable after a year of using and the charge amount suddenly changed from a high amount to zero percent.
the current battery has been working well and the charge amount is always correct.
the problem is that when I play a game like Clash Royale or open an application like Instagram after a game the phone is restarted and goes to boot-loop and never comes back until I do a lot of things such as wipe cache and sometimes wipe battery stats (recently), put it in the refrigerator because when this problem happens the area close to the camera becomes very hot so I try to cool down it.
I had the Alexander rom, then I have tried some original rom and then I tried to root the original rom and update the baseband and everything but the problem still occurs on my phone.
So if you know that this problem would be solved by a new battery I am going to buy one. I don't have extra money to do the risk because the battery is expensive now and hard to find in Rio de janeiro.
If there is a serious problem with cpu or motherboard then I should throw it away
guys if you think that there is a solution for heating and restarting and boot-loop please help me to solve it
The Snapdragon variants of the Note 4 have all been sufffering from various issues. I would advise that you back up your device, wipe it then sell it and purchase a new device. As there is nothing you can do, short of replacing the Motherboard.
I used the below method and the problem was solved
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/100-fix-galaxy-note-4-emmc-error-random-t3859448/
however, after that the back button doesn't work, the pen also is not recognized.
I have installed the navigation bar for the first problem.
I think it is worth to try for dead phones.
