It's April 2017 and the latest security patch level on the T817T is June 2016. Am I missing something? Why is this tablet not getting the latest security updates?

I need to install a marshmallow ROM on my samsung galaxy s5 which has a security patch before March 2017. Does it exist?
Sure, check sammobile, select your model/variant, click on an older marshmallow build, then hit download.
Alternative, you can also use updato which I've used in the past before.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any intel on the status from Samsung on this update?
As I understand it, this tablet came with 6.x, went to 7.0, and supposedly will get 8.1. I sincerely doubt that Samsung would give a 3rd major update to Android 9.x.

That's a very good question. I bought this a few weeks ago at the local military base exchange. I checked after I got home to see if there were any updates - firmware and OS but nothing. My build number is: NRD90M.T580UEU2BQL1. I see people posting about BRL1 firmware and assuming they are following an alphabetical scheme - R comes after Q.

Today South Korea and UAE got the Oreo 8.1 update on the 2016 model, so it seems they will now roll in for all countries soon the 2016 with Pen S model already got the update in South America if I am right. The 2017 model probably also get the update rolled out around these days.
While I might be wrong, I believe Oreo 8.1 is still only available for Spen version (SM-P580/585) in Korea and UAE

Nope, Oreo 8.1 with nov security patch is out for SM-T580 in South Korea and UAE since some days. I can't give any links as I don't have 10 posts yet, but google:

I updated via OTA last night. I confirm the version and the security patch, I have the SM-T580 DBT code. Everything seems to work fine and there has been no loss of user data in the update.

Yes, it was an apk app (apkpure) that started this after the oreo update (it was fine with nougat), so the problem was solved aftet I uninstaled it.
For a Korean variant S6 model, SM-G920K/L/S, can I confirm what’s the max android version and security patch version it can be updated to?
Checked on Sammobile, the available stock firmware would be android 7.0 and security patch of 30th July 2018. Is this true? Just want to confirm that it can’t be updated beyond - just for stock firmwares.

Recently I purchased a NOB Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 Active SM-N892A with Android 9 already installed. The most recent security patch is from Sept 1 2019. I want to get the security patches up to date (April 2020) on the phone but am not using AT&T network. Currently I am using T-Mobile through Ting. I have not had any luck finding a download for the firmware. Is there a place to download the security patched only or the firmware with the latest updates included or get the phone to download the updates? My Software Version is G982AUCS5CSI3 current Security Patch Sept 1 2019.
