I'm not sure if this is a cause to be concerned, but this guys phone exploded. He said he happened shortly after the update.

It's old and highly debated as a hoax. The damage is clearly self made in my eyes and many others.

This thread was made so the developers can share (if they want to) information about the development of the upcoming Android 9 Custom ROM's for the Moto G5 plus and users can come and check if their favourite ROM is getting renewed with a new flavour.
