LG K20 Plus struggling with USB file access, and with Bluetooth casting. - LG K20 Plus Questions & Answers

I have two issues with my MetroPCS LG K20 Plus and my Windows 10 computer.
The phone has debugging mode enabled, but is not rooted.
(1) I cannot see any Android files on Windows File Explorer via USB. The device shows up, but no folders. I also do not seem able to use any Android-to/from-PC apps that communicate across the USB cable.
(2) I am struggling to find a portable way to cast my phone screens to a Windows 10 PC. I have tried Bluetooth, but the related Android Settings options appear to be missing. I can pair to the PC successfully. The PC shows the Bluetooth connection as "Connected", but the phone shows "Connecting" for a while, and is then unconnected.
Can you suggest ways to enable this functionality?
I cannot install PC software to do it because I might be in an environment where I do not have access to the WiFi network, or am unable to install software or browser extensions or drivers on the PC. I cannot use WiFi for file access for the same reason. Cloud access from a public PC is a security risk.
It seems that LG (or perhaps MetroPCS) is deliberately trying to thwart casting and USB file access, and I cannot think of why they would do that.

I also have an issue with connecting this phone through usb. Windows 10. Says device can not be reconized. May have wrong lg usb driver version not sure. Needd it to read so that i can unlock the bootloader.

[Q] issues connecting to PC viia USB

Hi, I am having issues when connecting galaxy s5 to PC via USB. I am using rooted (Philz recovery) stock ROM (KK 4.4.2) on phone, and Windows 8.1 enterprise on PC. I was able to connect galaxy s3 just by plugging USB. PC loaded drivers and was able to transfer files no prob. However, tried with s5, PC seems to load drivers as normal, makes audible connection sound but is not showing in windows explorer. I've checked quite a few posts and the general consensus is a missing driver (been to Samsung site and Sammobile to try and find drivers to work, nothing. Samsung just point to 'Kies' and Sammobile just have Firmware), however, windows 8.1 finds and installs latest drivers automatically anyway. I've deleted and re-installed drivers via device manager on PC, checked for hardware changes and updated drivers etc. The PC recognizes the phone as Samsung device in device manager list, makes connection sound plugged and unplugged, even charges the phone while plugged in, but doesn't show in windows explorer to be able to transfer files. I tried USB 3.0 and 2.0. looked on net , found lots of people with similar probs re:s3 and s4, but nothing for s5 yet. Again though, it seems to be missing driver, however, as all drivers are updated/latest, i'm lost as to where to go now. Can anybody be good enough to point me in the right direction please? Thanks in advance. by the way, have also rebooted phone and PC end tried again, no difference, used different leads/connectors, tried MTP, PTP, USB 3.0 modes on phone connection settings blah blah bblah
If anybody knows where I might be able to get a driver that works, would be good, or any other possible solutions would be helpful. Am going to try via Wi-Fi using ES explorer but would prefer to use USB 3.0 as quicker for large files.
Again, thanks in advance for any suggestions.

ZTE Nubia Z17 USB connection problems & MyPhoneExplorer

Hi,
I just received the Z17. It looks well but I had many problems with the USB connection.
I use the connection too with my Jiayu S3Adv.
On that phone, I can read all the contents of the phone (SD Card and Internal mémory)
On the Nubia, I can read nothing into the windows 8.1 file explorer.
I just have (under My Computer main part) an icon named NX563J.
If I open this "drive" (or device), I just have a disk named "Shared internal space" (Espace de stockage interne partagé) (Sorry, I'm French, nobody is perfect, my English too ) with no files and one or two directories (log for example)
In order to have a "complete view", I had to change into Developper Option the default parameter "Charging" to "MTP"
Right, I can access the full contents of the phone...
I seems not activated by default.
Do you have the same problem ?
I use MyPhoneExplorer to synchronize data between my PC and mu phone. It works perfectly with the Jiayu.
I can't connect the Nubia to that application.
I'll have a new try with the "new MTP parameter" activated.
Thanks
Complement :
Each time I shutdownower off the phone and the computer, I need to reinstall the drivers...
Otherwise I can't access the phone contents.
I'm thinking to return the phone
May be I found one solution (or problem)
My computer (Lenovo Carbon X1 gen 3) is supporting "only" USB 3.0 specifications.
USB-C connection (I'm not speaking about the connector) need USB 3.1 and over specifications (thunderbolt).
So despite my device is recognized, it seams MyPhoneExplorer can't connect via USB-C protocol.
I had a small try with a connection via bluetooth, it seems to work.
But I can't see the phone contents when the phone is connected via USB.
Microsoft says USB-C connections are not supported by the windows OS under windows 10 (7, 8, 8.1)...
i have the same problem

Click to collapse
The problem is the USB C connections I have a surface and It does not recognize the USB connection due to driver error, I try to find a way with no solution, have anyone of you tried to root the phone successfully?
Ok, it works... sometimes with W8.1 x64.
In your configuration panel, open the item "Device Manager" (sorry, I've the French Version only)
In the menu "View" (Affichage, the last menu item on your right before ?) clic on Show Hidden devices
On the "Unknown device" Clic on Properties (Propriétés)
Tab Driver => Update the driver
Find a driver on my computer
Choose in a driver list on my computer
Choose USB Device and choose USB MTP or something similar.
Clic on Next. The driver will be installed
In your file manager, you can now see your phone.
If you have more than one phone, may be you have to do that each time you connect an other phone on your computer
Hope this helps you
Add-on :
Download the latest (ZTE) usb drivers. You'll find them here on XDA

Android File Transfer on Mac not working correctly-- any ideas?

Here's the situation. LG G6 us997, oem unlocked but not rooted. USB debugging is enabled and File Transfer (MTP) is the selected mode.
When I connect via USB to my MacBook pro (running osx 10.12), I am able to use adb to connect to my phone (push/pull files, etc). I am also able to connect to LG Bridge to initiate wifi file transfer (i.e. it recognizes my phone via USB).
However, when I open Android File Transfer it gives me a No Device Found error. If I switch the USB mode on the phone to "charging" and open AFT, I am given an error that suggests it sees the phone but knows it's not in File Transfer mode. It tells me to switch to MTP and reconnect, but then I again get the No Device Found error.
Here's the really strange thing. I performed two experiments. First, I plugged my G6 into another Mac (a mini) that had Android File Transfer installed, and instantly the file explorer popped up, working perfectly. That suggests to me that my cable isn't bad, and that my phone settings are probably okay.
But then I plugged my friend's Samsung Galaxy S6 into MY computer, and Android File Transfer popped open as it should, working perfectly. I'm not sure what this suggests. The weird thing about THAT is that plugging that same S6 into the afformentioned Mac Mini does NOT work!
So I'm stumped. I can always push/pull files via adb, but sometimes I want the simplicity of a drag and drop GUI, you know? A little more info: I think LG Bridge and AFT (and LG pc suite which doesn't work) can conflict, so I've definitely uninstalled those applications to minimize variables, rebooting between tests. I've also rebooted my phone between changes, and locked and unlocked it, and toggled File Tansfer to Charging modes repeatedly, and plugged and unplugged the cable, tried different usb ports, and switched cables.
Any ideas?

Windows 10 File Explorer doesn't find my phone

Hey XDA, pretty much like the title says. This is the first time I have this issue, before it was always plug it in and press the transfer files option and autoplay would pop up. Now Windows informs me that “Android is ready for use” but there is no way to find the device in File Explorer.
I hooked up my A1 to my laptop which did work properly so the problem is definitely on this PC’s end. I’m running latest version of Windows 10 Pro N 64. So far I’ve tried changing cables, different USB ports, rebooted both my PC and Phone. I also installed ADB Setup 1.4.3. The phone charges fine.
In device manager under Other Devices it says MTP with an exclamation sign, I’m unable to find drivers for this thing through auto search. There’s also ADB Interface under USB Devices which has up to date drivers.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Exactly the same here, under windows 10, MTP device not supported in the windows devices panel, i'm running ressurection remix rom....
When I first got my A1 I used Helium to restore my apps, I found it would only connect if I selected MIDI in the phones drop down.
This happens. Just use update driver and manually select the MTP driver from the list.
go to your notifications, tap the usb option and select transfer files. works great for me.

Phone not connecting to PC for File Transfer

I had previously connected my Asus X00TD to my laptop for transferring files. The phone doesn't connect to PC from yesterday. Only charging happens after connection, and device doesn't show up on the device manager(no change on list of devices after connection), and no notification sound of device being connected either. There is no notification in my phone as well. Here are the following workarounds I have tried, but failed:
Changing USB cable
Changing PC/laptop
Installing ADB and Qualcomm drivers and again uninstalling them(error code 10 on ADB Driver)
enabling and disabling USB debugging
changing connection mode(nothing works)
Going into safe mode
restarting and connecting multiple times
Kindly help me if possible, and your help will be kindly appreciated
I had a similar problem recently. What ended up working for me was to install some generic Android driver published by Google. I already had the ADB package installed, but without the generic Android driver published by Google, my phone could charge and transfer files, but I could not issue ADB commands through the Windows command prompt.
The package I needed was called "usb_driver_r13-windows.zip"
