Can't boot into TWRP after install using Odin - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi, I have flashed TWRP more then once on my S7 Edge using Odin in download mode. I followed the steps exactly including disabling auto reboot in Odin. I'm still unable to boot into TWRP and I get into the stock recovery but not TWRP. Im on stock android 8 from Samsung btw. How do I fix this? Thanks.

Hello, I had similar issue but I have found a good post that solved it: original post here
I have made it to work thanks this to these steps (you can skip magisk step so you will end with step 7):
Needs:
- Odin (Odin3_v3.13.x.zip)
- Magisk (Magisk-v16.x.zip)
- TWRP (twrp-3.2.x-x-hero2lte.img.tar)
- remove encryption.zip (link comes from original post from here: link) - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tCLamw9j07bhRgEd6qhymqUxExazy04c/view
1. Go to Download mode; Open Odin;
2. Make sure to uncheck Auto Reboot
3. Flash via AP > twrp-3.2.x-x-hero2lte.img.tar
4. Wait for Odin to Pass and exit the Download Mode again with (Volume Down+Home+Power)
5. Then directly boot intro recovery (Volume Up+Home+Power)
6. Swipe for Modifications and Wipe Data, confirm with typing "yes" and reboot again into recovery
7. Install only the remove encryption.zip and reboot into your system
8. Setup your phone and after you did reboot again into the recovery
9 Install Magisk and reboot your phone; Thats all now your phone is running Magisk fully decrypted

[BPH6][24.08.16][SM-G935F/FD/W8] SuperMan-Rom V1.12 Aroma -> Flash FAIL

Hello,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/rom-s7-edge-rom-v1-1-t3356699
This ROM looks great !!! I managed strictly following the steps below to install the rom on my S7 Edge once. Later I wanted to reflash the ROM to change things in AROMA. Since it is impossible for me to go beyond the boot Samsung screen (every time I wait more than 30 minutes, it seems blocked and the phone becomes hot). Since I tried doing all the steps again thinking to reflash the CP and BL, TWRP, and disable encryption of /data partition etc but I still have the same problem.
During the installation of the ROM, I tried several setups, with or without root, with differents kernels etc, nothing works, the installation goes smoothly. It's just that the phone remains locked at startup ("Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, POWERED BY android").
I have Odin 3.10.7 and 3.12.3, TWRP 3.0.2-3hero2lte, BL_G935FXXU1BPH6 and CP_G935FXXUBPH1 and no-verity-opt-encrypt-2.1.
I also tried flashing stock rom and then Superman and fail again.
Could someone help me ?
Thank you.
(I just didn't do the step with CSC because it's seems to be optional)
1. Start your phone, go to settings, about device, software info and hit build.number around 10 times so developer options will show up
2. Open developer options and tick: OEM unlock
3. Shut your phone off
4. You now need a computer, download odin3.10.11
5. Download two files, first is bootloader and second modem: bootloader and modem
6. Boot your phone into download mode by pressing: home+volume down+ power on
7. Open the downloaded odin on your windows pc and click on BL tab and add the file that name begins with BL, same for CP tab
8. After this, reboot to download mode again
9. Install TWRP (latest one is needed to support new BL's) will be next step, for this, follow all steps provided in this forum: TWRP Thread (booting into download mode: press home+volume down+power on, booting into download mode press: home+volume up+power on)
10. when you got TWRP working: We need to disable encryption, for this you should boot into recovery mode (as described above)
11. Flash this on your phone
12. After flashing this, hit wipe, full wipe (this will clean all internal memory and your data will be lost!!)
13. you can test if encryption is still enabled, if TWRP shows error about not mounting /data your phone is still encrpyted
14. Now you can download the rom onto your PC and then transfer it via usb to your phone
15. It is rom installing time install the rom!
16. After successfully installing the rom hit reboot and you are good to go!
17. If you want you can use my csc selection to get your desired csc, if you want that you can grab it here: CSC Selection V1.6

dude write some more info will you, i dunno whether
your device is locked
you have developer drivers on your laptop
what TWRP version you are trying to install
but anyways if the whole process is completed without any results consider starting odin as an administrator then flash TWRP
Hello sir
Follow my steps for successful TWRP/ROOT
1.)Download and install Samsung USB Drivers
2.)Download TWRP 3.0.2.0
3.)Download Odin
4.)Download SuperSU.zip file
For download links message me or add me on facebook facebook. com/fRoD.cs
After you complete this 4 steps shutdown your phone and enter into Download Mode
Volume Down + Power + Home
Select continue by Volume Up key
Now connect phone with usb cable into pc and run Odin as administrator
Click on AP box and select the twrp.tar file you download before
Go to Options tab and uncheck Auto Reboot, make sure that only F, Reset Time is checked and click start
After successfully installed TWRP , remove the battery, put it back and make sure that you go into recovery mode immediately!!! Volume Up + Power + Home
If you boot up the phone it will restore the original recovery. Thats why you need to go to recovery mode first.
First time you boot in recovery it will be shown a TWRP screen asking to allow modifications to system partition. Swipe to accept that.
Now select Install option and select SuperSU.zip file. By default it should be in Download folder, and swipe to start install
After installing click reboot and your SM-G361F will be rooted. You should have SuperSU app in the menu

Ah, opportunely, I have the exact same device.
Now, I have actually installed TWRP before so I can help.
Usually, if it stops the flashing process, it may be a case of the Custom binary being blocked by the FRP lock on the device. Have you OEM unlocked it?
On the device, when you boot it into download mode, does it say FRP LOCK: ON on the screen?
If not, skip this step.
If so, you need to do the following:
1) Reboot the device normally
2) Go into Settings, Developer Options (note: to enable it, go to About Device and spam the Build Number box until it says that you are a developer)
3) Find where it says 'OEM Unlock'
4) Confirm the change
Now, there is an extra step which I had to take if you have a Google account signed in on your device. You might not need to, but it's best just in case:
1) Go to Settings, Accounts and Google
2) Click the Google account on the device
3) Click 'Remove Account' and confirm
Note: You will need to sign in to use any of the GApps, but you cannot access the recovery whilst being signed in because of the FRP lock.
4) Reboot your device into download mode and try again.
This may not be the case, though.
Also, don't bother with adding that guy on Facebook. I have all the downloadable things you need here, but I advise you do follow his guide, except the Download folder section. He missed out that you need to download the SuperSU binary to your device. Downloads are here:
Here are the Samsung USB Drivers for Mobile Phones (NOTE: You may not need these at all since you can actually begin the flashing process without them, so don't bother):
http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows
Here is the TWRP recovery (NOTE: Please download the 3.0.2.0 version, since it is more up-to-date and more likely to succeed:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...sm-g361f-unofficial-twrp-2-8-7-3-0-2-t3425402
And here is ODIN (You already have it, but here it is anyway. Also, download the first one, not the second one, since the first one is newer):
https://odindownload.com/download/
Also, the SuperSU binary (Note: It's easier to open it in your Android browser and download the file from there. That avoids the need to transfer the file from the PC to the phone):
http://www.supersu.com/download
Now, it could, in fact, be a problem with the USB cable. It's highly unlikely, but mine is a bit tempermental, insisting that if I nudge it, it'll stop working.
Notify me how it goes, because this worked first time for me.

Go to developer settings and check OEM Unlocking (if its already checked recheck it) and then reboot. Then close the phone and install TWRP.
Hi I've managed to install the correct twrp on my device but when I go into recovery I get the same message not seandroid enforcing. I've followed all the steps but I can't get it into recovery on twrp. Does anyone have a solution please?

S5Neo-Root: Missing custom recovery menu

Hi guys,
first of all i may apologize for my school-engl. and let you know i am really new in the world of roots.
My goal was to flash magisk in the custom recovery mode of twrp. So after about 3h research i flashed twrp with odin, everything worked like described in my intructions (cant post links here yet, it was from android gadgethacks) and root checker confirmed the root.
Now in all the instructions i have read, i am told to reboot in the recovery mode and see the new modificated "custom recovery"-menu where i can flash the magisk.zip in the intall-section.
I dont. Its rebooting in the original recovery mode, where i havent the possibility to flash anything, right?
In my desperation i tried to flash it in the intall section of twrp manager but that didnt work. Magisk Manager doesnt confirm that magisk is installed.
someone here has experience with that missing twrp-recovery-menu or another idea how i could install magisk on my rooted s5neo? Thanks in advance

I'm new to root as well, but I just rooted my own S5 Neo (which is why I saw your post while searching for information), so I'm a couple of weeks ahead of you.
I'm a little unclear why after flashing TWRP you say the root check confirmed root. My understanding is that TWRP alone won't root the phone.
You may have already figured this out, but here's what I needed to do to install TWRP and Magisk. The issue for me was that auto-reboot from ODIN was allowing the phone to clear TWRP before it was installed. I'm not sure what your issue is, but there is one possibility I note below.
My successful procedure follows (ask for clarification if I gloss over something you don't understand). Others should feel free to correct any mistakes I write, since I'm no expert and I'm writing from memory:
1) Download the Magisk ZIP to your phone, so it will be available when needed.
2) Ensure your phone is set for OEM Unlock (via the Settings/Developer Options setting menu, which is only shown after you activate it by going to Settings/About Phone/Software Information and tapping Build number 7 times).
3) Download the TWRP *.img.tar file to your PC. Make sure it was made for your model phone.
4) Start ODIN on your PC, and use the AP button to load the TWRP *.img.tar file. Wait for ODIN to finish checking it.
5) In ODIN's Options tab, unselect "auto reboot", so your phone won't reboot when done.
6) Turn off your phone, then boot into Download mode (vol_down+home+power button) and confirm with vol_up button.
7) Now connect the phone to the PC with a USB cable and confirm that the "Added!" message shows in ODIN.
8) Click Start in ODIN to flash TWRP to your phone. Wait for the top left to show a green PASS message.
9) At this point, your phone is connected and still in Download mode. Detach the cable and hold Vol_down+power until your phone shuts off (maybe 10-20 sec).
10) Boot into Recovery mode (vol_up+home+power). The phone should now be installing TWRP. Wait until it finishes and then shows something.
11) My memory here is fuzzy. I don't recall whether TWRP immediately shows now, or if the phone boots normally, or it asks you whether to boot or shutdown, so here are five possible routes:
11a) If the phone shows the TWRP window, go to step 12. I think this is what should happen.
11b) If the phone shuts off, boot into Recovery mode again. This should now be TWRP, so go to 12.
11c) If the phone boots normally, shut it off and boot into Recovery mode. This should now be TWRP, so go to 12.
11d) If the phone asks you what to do, select power off and then boot into Recovery mode. This should now be TWRP, so go to 12.
11e) If booting into Recovery doesn't show TWRP, then something is not quite right with my instructions, or how you followed them, so come back here with the results.
12) Here's where your issue may be. TWRP is installed temporarily by default, and restarting the phone will overwrite it. During this temporary time, you can immediately flash a Zip, then reboot and get your original stock recovery back. You may have restarted the phone without realizing this, which then overwrote TWRP. So you need to decide whether your want it temporarily to flash Magisk, or keep it permanent for other uses (like making Nandroid backups). To make the choice, TWRP asks you whether your want to "Keep Read Only" mode (temporary) or not (permanent).
13) If TWRP is temporary, you need to install Magisk now before rebooting. If it's permanent, you can reboot and do it later. In the TWRP menu, tap Install. Navigate to the location where you placed the Magisk ZIP. If you don't see it, look at the lower right button. If it says "Install Image", it should be showing available Zips. If it says "Install Zip", then it's showing images, so tap it to show Zips.
14) Select the Magisk Zip and it should be installed. Go back to the main TWRP menus and tap Reboot, then System to restart your phone.
15) Look in your Apps for the Magisk Manager. It should have been installed from the Zip. Open it and check that "Installed Version" has a green check. That should be it.

1. Obviously you need to have your phone bootloader unlocked and enabled USB Debugging.
2. Connect your phone to PC
2. Reboot to Fastboot using Volume Down+Power button
3. On your PC, navigate to the 4PDA TWRP folder
4. Start the Flash_TWRP.bat file (as Administrator just to be sure)
5. Follow the instructions in the CMD window
6. After TWRP Flash, reboot into recovery (Press Volume up Button+Power button)
in TWRP format data
reboot to twrp again in recovery
7. Flashe your Rom of choice
8. Rebooted and let the ROM load (have patience, first time takes pretty long!)
9. Follow and complete setup

[COLOR="DarkOrange"]You will now be rooted and surely enjoy the stock ROM.
Cleaning up the inbuilt bloatware is individual's responsibility.[/COLOR]
Playing by the guide and few of my own stuff to manage this to work. I will try and get a Samsung free modified and fully working Stock ROM, ODIN mode though. Less bootloops that way.
I have lost my M305F, so I am not able to test Bliss or LOS out. Though LOS should boot, I am not sure of Bliss, as it has some boot issues from the build pov itself. However, one person who tried it for me, was able to boot Bliss after 3-4 tries, and only with DM-Verity and formatted userdata. Hence if it does not boot for you, hard luck, as the OS somehow trips some secure boot mode. Also, none of the PHH OS booted, no matter what... Moreover, all AP will boot only decrypted..

Patching Guidance: Link
Installation Guide (Only For Bootloader UL On Q/10)
AP, CP (optional), DM-Verity files are must, as all modded AP have TWRP included already, and are prerooted. BL/CSC/Home_CSC are not needed as they are the main culprits for bloatware and arrogant knox..
----> This is only for people who are on previous Rooted OS. For unrooted, these steps are to/can be skipped.
Factory Reset from settings. If already on the earlier version, this will allow you to boot to recovery, else, you will get a "Error!!" screen of the recovery. (Remember, Magisk for Samsung patches to recovery mode, and thus format data is needed).
Boot to recovery. (Guide Link)
Code:
[B]adb reboot download[/B]
Format/Wipe data and cache one after the other in Recovery mode. Do, this at-least 2-3 times. This ensures, any remnants are removed
ENSURE to MOUNT /SYSTEM
This is only for people who are on previous Rooted OS. For unrooted, these steps are to/can be skipped. <---
*********************************************************
Boot to download/fastboot/bootloader
Open Odin and ensure to untick/uncheck "auto reboot" under options
Uncheck "re-partition" as well, and remember, userdata wipe will be needed at a later stage.
I will not describe how to flash STOCK UNTOUCHED, as that is given, and everyone should know that
We only need the AP file & the CP file (CP if you need radio modem to lock, else that too is not needed)
Under the "AP", select the AP file (select which one you wish to use, Stock Rooted, with TWRP, LOS or Bliss (See AP links for M305FDDS6CTI1 tar files)
** Now connect the phone with USB while still in download mode
The COM port will show the device connected
Select the chosen AP file in "AP" box and the CP file in the "CP" box respectively
Reiterating: Only AP & CP (optional) files needed
Click Start, and ideally in 3 minutes (for stock) & in 2 minutes (for LOS/Bliss), it will get flashed. (Ensure Auto-Reboot is unchecked)
Once successful, remove it from usb cable connector
Press Volume Down and Power key together for 7-8 seconds
The screen will vibrate and go black
That very instant, while holding the power button, also press the volume up button
You will feel another vibration. Let go of power button, while still holding the volume up button
This will reboot to TWRP recovery
Format data (where one has to type YES) in recovery
Reboot to TWRP
Now mount data and copy the dm-verity file over and flash it in TWRP
**Optional** - Wipe dalvik/cache
Reboot to system (will take around 10-12 minutes for stock & 3-4 minutes for LOS/Bliss, so be patient)
---> Stock Only
Once everything is setup, go to settings>developer options>uncheck auto-update
Also uncheck "auto download over wifi/data" under software & updates in settings
Stock Only <---
Copy files over MagiskManager apk file (see attached text file for links) and install the apk
Once installed launch and enjoy root features

Okay mate.
Few ways to do it.
1. By installing rooted AP with TWRP already included:->
Install September stock Firmware from my post here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-m30/development/rom-t4167497
Use that to flash the September FW. Use ODIN via windows, and use the file: AP ROOTED WITH TWRP RECOVERY. Flash only AP. CP is optional. Follow the steps there. Ensure to flash DMVERITY.
This is one way...
Another way:
2. Flash stock ROM. Connect to wifi/mobile data and setup. Change the time to say 7 days prior to today. Wait 30 minutes and boot to download mode via the following method:: switch off. Press Vol+/- together and connect to laptop/pc via usb. Ensure usb debugging is ON and then perform. Now you are in download mode. Flash TWRP.tar file from AP. All checkboxes should be unticked. Once flashed successfully, press vol- and power button for 7-8 seconds and let go off vol- upon haptic feedback and press vol+ to enter to twrp recovery. You can let go of the buttons once twrp shows up.
Now format data and reboot to twrp again. Mount data and /system and if OS is installed boot to system, else flash a ROM of your choice.
3rd way:
3. Download FLOSSbOxIN (FLOSS/Google variant available). Extract to any desktop folder. Now open 7Zip and make a zip file with all the .img files. Choose .tar (available from 7Zip dropdown as well) and rename the tar file to say rom.tar.
Once done flash this one via AP. Ensure all checkboxes are unchecked. Reboot to TWRP following the steps in method 2 above. Format data, boot to twrp, flash dm-verity and boot to system. You can wipe cache/dalvik and /hidden if you want. Will take around 10 minutes to boot. Dont forget to boot to twrp first and flash dmverity, else you will end in bootloop.
Note: With Samsung, in case you forget to flash DMVerity, and by mistake clicked boot to system, do not worry. Switch off, or reboot to twrp and mount /system and flash. Wipe dalvik and cache, reboot. Done.
October release coming soon.
