Screen on time - OnePlus 7 Pro Real Life Review

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the OnePlus 7 Pro before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Whoever is going to post SOT, do not forget to mention refresh rate used (90 or 60 Hz), screen resolution, "tweaks" and "measures" taken in settings etc. Also show full screenshots. Thanks.

Yesterday was my first full 24 hours with the device. Charged it fully ion the morning and went to bed with 26% battery and 5hr 15min of SOT. I was using 90Hz with resolution set to "auto". I don't tend to run my brightness very high, maybe around 40-45% except when outdoors in daylight. I did a fair mix of browsing, gaming, social media, and texting. I tend to keep my rarely-used apps restricted from battery and data usage. I use the dark theme and darker wallpaper. I did not take a screenshot last night, but will do so today after completing another full day of use.

This is my phone's sot with 90hz refresh rate , auto switch for resolution and dark theme enabled. I was mostly on wifi. Usage between moderate to heavy.

This is mine.. wanted to check out the actual SOT without 90hz and qHD .. so this is 60hz with 1080p.. but used 90hz for like 4-5 hours to show it off to some friends..

https://youtu.be/XhqDtIcIA6E

Difference between 90hz with auto switch and 60hz with fhd+

I've been getting great battery life. I have the auto switch with the resolution, and 90hz always.... Also had the oneplus 6t and this phone is def an upgrade

My battery life is pretty bad but I have been using camera quite a bit
I hope it improves

This was my first full day, 90hz the whole time,

These are excellent results .

Couldn't you guys just type SOT and attach the screenshot as a proof as well as the apps you used, not only a SS? then we wouldn't need to open every picture

Day one everything enabled, 90hz with auto switch resolution, about 6 hours of SOT. Not bad, not great.
I'm still on Day two, but I went down to FHD resolution on 90hz, greenified, and turned off stuff I'm currently not using like BT and GPS and I'm at 2:42 SOT with 75% battery. Pretty nutty. I won't be rolling this way all the time, but nice to know what's available. I can only imagine how much more we can squeeze out on 60hz. This phone is going to be great for vacation days.

Resolution: auto switch at 90hz
Youtube, gaming, social, internet browsing
Never got that much juice out of my OP6.

Here is my first full day with phone.
Unplugged when I woke up with 100%.
Res: auto
Refresh: 90
Had everything on like I normally would, gps, wifi, Bluetooth. Was on LTE almost all day. Only on wifi from 7pm until this screenshot around 11pm.
Not good, not great but was the first day. My 6t would end the day with more than 30%.

Screen on time

6 hours 20 min
Just got mine a couple of days ago and wanted to test the battery out.
I had 100% at 7.36am and then went out. I did some normal chrome browsing during that time. I also did the first big update. The translator one that was about 300meg. I downloaded around 500 songs to Spotify.
I got home around 4pm and this is where I really used it almost non stop until 8.34pm.
I watched some YouTube, a 45 min Netflix episode, a ton of web browsing, checking out all the phone settings, Facebook, and about 90 min of gaming (tower defence, top down 2D scrolling shooters).
I stopped at 8.34pm at 5% left. Phone has been on battery for around 13 hours.
Screen on time during the above time reported at 6 hours and 20 minutes.
I was pleased with that though doesn't hit much of the hype I've read lately.
Coming from a Nexus 6P, which my only complaint was battery life (3.5 your SOT on average) I'm happy and really my wish was to have a phone that I could use heavily all day without needing to recharge either at home or out with a power bank.
It's still early stages and I will keep monitoring.
I forgot to add this was at 1080p resolution.
Sad that Moto Z Play beat this 4000mah on my Mate 10, I did lyft for 8hrs no turning off screen non stop playing Spotify and YouTube red on the background and using lyft app and Google map on the Z play and after 8hrs I still have 15% left on 40%screen brightness. The mate 10 only last 6hrs and 10%left. So lesson is don't buy Z Play then buy another more expensive phone. Bought mine $703 on ebay and I am using AT&T and I get same speed as iPhone 7 plus with regards to data speeds. I have a S8 too which I sold because of screen burn in, but the Mate 10 is a beast. It beats my S8 speed with regard to experience using the phone. And IPS is really the way to go if you use the phone how I use it everyday 8-16hrs of screen on time.
So after a few days use and after a 100% charge I get this estimated use. Hmmmn

Yes.
So far I get an average of 6.5 - 7hrs of SOT with average of 18-22 hours battery. Is that good?

IMO, it's very good considering the screen size :good:
Did you try comparing SOT with QHD vs FHD resolutions? I understand that SOT won't really improve if you go for lower resolution..
All pixels on the screen are used regardless. Just a bigger sample size with FHD. However, QHD will use a little more battery if you are changing the image on the display. For the fact that it has to draw that many more pixels each time the image changes. Which is millions of pixels. But I believe a lot of static image changing is done by the cpu and not the gpu. where gpu is used mainly for constant motion on screen.
But honestly part of the reason they have such high resolution is for VR. That and to make more sense of taking UHD pics and videos. Most people won't notice a working difference between the two through regular use unless they keep it really close to their face, or have very good eye sight.
So you will see it use some extra battery. Not a detrimental amount more unless you are a heavy user of games and whatnot. Or if you force GPU rendering, then you should see a big difference in battery

but its still interesting to see the results. If its like 0.5-1h of SOT to a SOT result which on QHD is 6-7 hours, I would never go for lower resolution..

I didn't try the higher resolution yet as 1080 for me is absolutely fine looking to my eyes. I came from a nexus 6p which was poor on SOT which I attributed to partly to the resolution.
Still it will be worth to try it at some point to see the difference.
My worst result with battery was today. 4.5 screen time but I did the most gaming and had hours of messenger chats with a 40 minutes voice chat thrown in.
super battery
i want to share my mate 10 battery with app ( gsam batterry )
i used whatsapp , instagram , twiteer . youtube , snap chat , phone calls lte , the screen is wqhd 2560x1440 all the time , screen bright is manual on 50 % level brightness
this what i got 13h 49 mint

SOT:
Now after 10 days, mine is usually around 5-7 hours, if I just surf internet, Youtube, using FB, IG, RSS reader and camera (usually without flash). I'm mostly on WiFi using also only 1 SIM at a time (the other switched off).
If using games, this drops to 4-5 hours max. Seems the GPU is burning through battery like butter, the phone is also getting somewhat warmer.

Also been noticing that the mate 10 performs bad in games, could be because the games are not optimized to kirin ?

This is what I got so far.
8hrs 50mins 23s
* Max resolution set - WQHD - disabled Smart resolution toggle
* Social media, surfing, on WIFI like permanently all throughout the day
* Minimal youtube, no gaming (since I'm at work)
* first couple of days I was able to get around 7hrs SoT average

You guys know this is a waste of time without giving which model as the Pro in theory should have a better SOT with lower res and OLED
Mate 10 with AT&T Sim and always on Wi-Fi. This is what I get. Most of the time is on Twitter, Chrome, 30 minutes on sling TV today.
Seriously??? [emoji23]?

1hr 30 mins of sot left with 64% battery
48mins of gaming
Battery saver on the whole time+720+60hz, on wifi+cell, web browsing+streaming, music, vids, txting, few games, 9+ hours SOT.
GF's phone, ton of gaming/txting/fb/web, battery saver only turned on after <10%, 7+ hours SOT.
SOT is good not great but that is at 120 1440. I easily make it through the day so why change it.
This phone has amazing SOT! I'm sitting here 13hrs in, 37% battery remaining with 6hrs screen on so far.. Lots of browsing, some Lineage 2, and an hour or two of music streaming so far.. That's with bt/wifi/lte, auto brightness, max resolution and refresh rate. Just using stock without any battery saving stuff.. Alot nicer then my 6p for sure!
Its amazing i was watching episodes on netflix after 5 hours screen on time 62% of battery left.

Hi! I have a 6P and I'm on the fence about this phone. I absolutely love that it has a higher refresh rate screen, massive battery and lots of RAM. I love my 6P but the battery life could be better and the Ram management is terrible( my biggest grip). The lackluster camera on the Razer doesn't reeeeaally bother me as I don't take many pictures but how does the max screen brightness compare between the phones? If they are relatively similar that's great because I'm happy with the brightness on my 6P. Thanks for your help.

It's more than enough.. Especially if you turn off auto-brightness it gets very bright! I run my phone dimmer cause I like it, but it gets very bright, not sure what all the criticism was about.
The camera is lacking features and the quality is still average at best, but if you use one of the google/pixel camera ports it helps with the quality.. I really don't find the quality that bad myself, but the missing features definitely compared to the opengapps one.
Best so far I've had.
Average around 6hrs. In my opinion best battery life I've ever had on a phone.
Resolution @ 1440p
Refresh @ 120hz
That is amazing specially if flagship devices cant even do half of that in most cases.

OMG, don't get me started on the s8.. lol
Resolution 1440p
Refresh 120Hz
Brightness ~35%
Ambient Display Off
Adaptive Brightness Off
Night light Off
Build number .853
SOT ~8hours (2hours of which was Maps in the car.)
~10min voice call
~2hour WhatsApp call
Quite unprecedented since my many years since day dot with Android.
As good as the SOT is, I'm more appreciating how the device deep sleeps - I like that flat line on the graph.
No need to fight with Android ecosystem or any quirky issues preventing deep sleep: the Razer sleeps like a baby (no greenify, battery improvement nor brevent nor lspeed nor sdmaid equivalent apps) :good:
Well done Razer.
Now sort the tiny quirks and smack this out of the park

Nice!!
I am still impressed with the battery management.
Almost 6 hours (last time I checked). So very impressive.
Easily over 4 hours with heavy gaming and app downloading. ... and music playing over Bluetooth all day.
4 hours to 4.30 hours with 1+ gaming (guns of boom) medium settings (1440p 90Hz). good standby drain
Anyone mind posting battery degraded sot results after owning it for a while? Ty

Screen on time

My current record is 8 hours and 45 minutes SoT from 100% to 0% battery in one take, this is with screen brightness at 50% at all time.
I don`t like the automatic light change. It`s good for the day but when you go in very dark rooms or it`s just night it goes way too dim for my taste.
My average battery time is about 45 hours with around 5 hours of SoT.
This is with constant 50% screen brightness, mobile data always on;;; wi-fi, location, bluetooth, nfc, always on display turned off. Most of that time I`m actively using internet with calls for average 30 minutes per day.
I use it with 2 sim cards, one for calls, one for 4G internet. I have VoLTE active on one of the cards but it`s the internet one, haha. My main mobile operator have still not turned on this service for us.
So I think the battery performance is very good. I come from my old HTC E9+ which had 2 hours and 40 minutes SoT at best so for me this is extremely big jump in the freedom to do things with the device.
=====
I have managed to bring up my average SoT with disabling some things.
The only thing I still don`t know why the battery stat does not show every program I have used but only the ones with usage over 15 minutes. I would understand it for external apps, but I have used also google maps for at least 10 minutes today and I don`t see it in the list. Or this is just the way Oreo works?
I think I managed to get to peak optimization. Over 2 days of use with 8 hours of screen time.
I love this phone. :good:
The screens are from few days ago but I only got to have time and post them today.
This result is with 50% constant brightness. Yesterday I learned that I can actually train the automatic brightness to my desire so I expect to get even more from the battery life.
If only the camera were not so horrendous this phone would be truly ideal. Oh well, I don`t use it as main source for making photos anyway, heh.
Im getting About 10-11 hours of SoT. Im gonna add some Screenshots soon
I`m more inclined to get the battery to last for more days than SoT, currently this is what I can get with maximum optimizations.
Guys, You are showing some unreal results for me. My battery lasts only for 1 day. In order to rich 3 days of batt life, I have to activate airplane mod and do not use the device.?
Well, if you give as much as I of my time to do optimizations may be you will also be able to feel the pleasure of long lasting battery.
I have disabled over 60 apps and services. I have uninstalled some stuff, I did some things with adb shell. Took me days of tuning and removing all of the bloatware.
Also my worst SoT for now, just little over 5 hours. I guess voice calling (40 min.) and viber calls(over 1 hour) really suck battery juice.
I've made a lot of optimizations and tricks, debloats, have been messing around with governors and kernels, tried greenify in all my previous devices and can tell that 11 hours ToS is impossible for me and most of the users. It should be something like ultra power saving mode with disabled most of the functions. You can share here how to make battary last for eternity , by the way?.

No, I don`t have root.
I have installed XDA Laps app and I have download it from their app store. Everything work normally.
And this is what I have achieved using half my normal SoT (4 hours instead of 8)
This is on one full charge from 0% to 100% battery.
In this 4 days I have not connected the phone to pc nor any other kind of charger just to see how far it would go.
I made a video just in case someone try to accuse me in using photoshop. video in the folder<<
After 2 months of use the only thing I`m not satisfied is the camera, but with such good battery life I really don`t care anymore.

After that the phone loses 5 yo 8% battery overnight although i do nothing. Why

So, my average of SoT with almost 2 full days of use is about 5 hours, can get it to 6.5 hours sometimes if use youtube for a while for listening music while away from PC.
Here is one of screencaps from yesterday, friend asked for SoT and I got it.
Screen is on Auto, WiFi, Mobile, Location, NFC, AoD are always on and lately connect phone to BT Speaker while listening music, so this is for me pretty much good SoT (after P9 Lite which had sometimes abominable SoT with less then 2 hours).

Social media(Instagram,twitter, Telegram)
And Youtube
good sot here after adb debloat. near on par with my previous devis ( moto z play )
I get only 6 hours sot?? And yes I've made changes to the settings to optimize the battery do some units just ship with ****tier batteries?
No complains
In almost every review I saw/read of this phone I hear the reviewer complaining about the battery being worse than expected. In my experience with this phone and S8 before, SOT will slowly get better and after a couple of weeks, it will be at its best. I don't understand why this isn't noticed by those reviewers.
After about 10 days of use, I was surprised by almost 10 hours of SOT, just browsing and reading.

Amazing Battery Life!
Galaxy A50 Pro
To be honest, I bought this phone mostly because of it's screen on time! I usually get 7-8 hours SOT which I think is great! My LG G6 was a great phone, everything was awesome except the battery life! I would get 4-4.5 hours of screen on time, which was not enough! That's the reason I opted for Galaxy A50! 8 hours SOT with Super Amoled display was the sole reason!
[Galaxy A50] I use mobile data when I'm out of home, GPS is always on with the highest accuracy setting, manual brightness 40%-60%, always on display, AdGuard app, internet speed meter app running all the time! Most of time I use Chrome, Youtube, Netflix, Facebook, Twitter and some other apps.
Galaxy A50 Cons
There's few things that are terrible like Cellular Signal Strength is very poor comparing my other phones like Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and LG G6! Mobile data really sucks! On screen fingerprint is way too slow! Even won't recognize always if you don't place your finger in the exact place of the screen! Oh man! It has been a real pain in the ass for me! I would like to get back my physical rear fingerprint from my previous phones! They are so fast and this on screen fingerprint is just crap!
Sometimes Wifi would stop working and you would probably scratch your head to figure out whats wrong! After diagnosing your router and internet connection, you would be so pissed to know that everything was just fine! Now you would reboot the phone! Bang! Wifi works again!

After about 10 days of use, I was surprised by almost 10 hours of SOT, just browsing and reading.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
On my fresh S20 FE 5G:
4h40 SOT on 120 Hz and 6h20 SOT on 60 Hz - down to 15%, WIFI only, Location on, Dark Mode on, Battery on Optimized mode, 4G mode not 5G

I have same consumption as with my Mi10. Wifi, BT, Gps and 120Hz.
Screen bright in auto, and about 90% time working with 4g (not wifi).
My model is FE 5G (snapdragon).
Almost 7 h of on screen time, and It let about 30% battery.View attachment 5115057

60 Hz no?
Tragedy.... Exynos.... Barely 4 hours of SoT
I'll chime in here. USA unlocked version, so Snapdragon. Everything running stock, except I've switched off 5G. Running at 120hz refresh. I average 6-7 hours of SOT per day. I don't game at all.
Hmm...i got about 7 hrs with some ( not heavy ) games. 120Hz and no 5G ( no chance where i live ).

SnapDragon,
Getting about 5 hours SOT maybe 5.5, standby is pretty great though.
Much better than my s9+ that was about 3 hours SOT and horrible stand by

S20 FE Exynos
Easy 6. 5 to 7 hours SOT
80% on wifi / 20% on 4G,
120 HZ Always,
35% Brightness,Auto brightness off,
Dark mode, Always on display (always active),
GPS always on,
BT on only when needed occasionally,
moderate to heavy use ( no gaming though) with lots of youtube, whatsapp, FB and callings......
Extremely satisfied .....
Just not satisfied with charging though via out of the box 15w slow charger so got a 25w charger and bingo, issue resolved...
Snapdragon model here...
I'm averaging around 8-9hrs SoT with the following set-up:
Optimized Power Mode
120hz on
40% brightness
Auto Brightness off
Dark Mode always
AoD off
80-90% on WiFi / 10-20% on 4G
5G disabled in settings
BT on when needed (headphones or Xbox controller for xCloud)
All apps set to sleep, restrict background data and notifications turned off other than Gmail, Textra and FB Messenger
Moderate to heavy use (mostly gaming, Chrome, Spotify, Camera and a bit of YouTube)

Snapdragon as well for me.
Initially wasn't amazing (4-5 hours SOT) but after doing the little bixby routines trick to enable medium power mode while maintaining 120hz, this helped a LOT.
120Hz
25-50% brightness
Auto Brightness Off
Dark Mode in all things
Mostly on Wifi
Location Services Off
4g Radio Only
BT here and there with headphones
Greenified most stuff before I realized that there is a window to do this in the battery, so set it there today, but initially greenified
No gaming, mostly daily tasks, browsing, calls.
Charged it again this morning from 9% and at that time had just over 8 hours SOT. Pretty pleased with that
Damn, you guys really kill the entire phone for SOT. lol
120Hz all the time, dark mode too. High performance mode. Wifi on, bt - watch + headphones, gps on - all the time. Adaptive battery on. Hmm...sot over 7 hours. Fine for me

In my case just did it to see how long I could push it.
After charge I set things back to standard, optimized power, location on, etc. Now interested to see the difference. Only just got this phone so still trying to find the best balance for me.

Not really, just no point in turning things on we don't need :good:
Second pass after sleeping more apps and was able to crank our an amazing 10.5 hours SOT over 2.5 days. Mostly reddit, email, web browsing, so pretty lightweight usage overall.. still by far and away the best I've experienced.
I imagine even for gamers and video watchers getting around 7-8 is pretty stellar.
