Heat - OnePlus 7 Pro Real Life Review

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the OnePlus 7 Pro stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I never find it hot, but I do not play heavy games

No Heating Problem
I don't face any heating problems in my one plus 7

After rooting and installing Smurf kernel with a lot of OC, mine will get hot really easily BUT I went back and adjusted the OC to be barely (slightly) over stock and I use Gsam battery and I set it to notify me when it's 105f of higher and I rarely (less than once per day with heavy use) get any notifications of it over 105f
Sent from my OnePlus7Pro using XDA Labs

A bit of overheating on the latest OOS updates, both stable and beta, on custom kernel and using Arter97 kernel, bit weird since this didn´t happened on older OOS versions, same daily conditions with little to nothing of cellular data

My bad, I meant stock kernel, tried both to see if it was the problem but sadly it wasn´t

It gets pretty hot. OnePlus' claims that WARP/DASH doesn't increase device heat whilst charging under load is a bold claim, because I don't find it to be true at all.
Call of Duty is a good example, if I play that on the charge the phone thermal throttles within 10 minutes. Off the charge it's perfectly reasonable.
Video calls get this phone nice and toasty though, especially Duo calls

The only time I have noticed it getting hot is after filming 4k30fps video off and on for over an hour (I always had the video app running to capture). The device got pretty warm, and depleted about 20-25% battery over the course of an hour.

Always stays at a cool temp unless playing games in direct sunlight but that's too be expected.

Lately it gets extremly hot when I charge with the original brick and cable...not sure when it started I'm on beta 17

It gets really hot when you turn on hotspot

Battery life is short, ,
on standbay (3G network) my phone constant losing about 6% per hour, (network signal is very good 100%)
in using (facebook, google chrome,............. ) about 18-25% per hour,
overnight about 7-8%
What is wrong ?

Dear Mate, Why do you need to open a thread under DEVELOPMENT section just to troubleshoot the battery drain????
There is already a thread open under GENERAL section to discuss such matter...
here is the link....
First clear cache, dalvic. if not remove face book and see. it uses lot of resource.
I found a solution,
I am back to stock rom Kitkat 4.4.4 and now everything is fine, battery SOT is 5-6 hors, standbay is about 22-26 hors, with my old battery. (my battery is old 10 months)
I am very hepy with my KitKat 4.4.4,
KitKat 4.4.4 is much better than 5.1.1 lollipop, battay life is is twice as high, and camera is a much better,
the camera samples on KitKat 4.4.4 have more megabytes in size about 50-70% compared to 5.1.1 Lolipop.
Samsung, Why are you doing this, why degraded Note 4 with new firmware ???
Maybe are hoping to better sales of the new model Note 5, who knows !!!

Best Kernel-Balance Between Battery and Performance

Which is The Best Kernel For you with Oxygen OS or OOS Based Rom's For Best Battery Life and Performance Balance?
I used FrancoKernel But I Don't know why I am Getting only around 3.5 Hours of SOT When others are getting 10Hours
In the Stock Kernel and OxygenOS I am Getting Around 4 to 4.30 Hours of SOT
well bud, you should know how to use a smartphone. there is no way on the earth that OP5 lasts about 3hours. No offend, you should consider switch to iPhone. Android is a different thing. you should know how to get rid of wakelock, what consumes the battery the most, or what keeping your phone awake etc. No kernel or rom can help you.
Stock, don't be fooled, there is no kernel that give you extra hours of battery life or rocket speed.. that's just placebo or bored users that they need to flash something.
Oneplus 5 is quick enough, apps opening instantly, to where you want to push it more?
Even if you find some way how you throttle down performance to gain couple of minutes on battery where is the point, when on the end you put
your phone on charger that in couple of minutes give you power for another day?
just enjoy the phone..that's my opinion

I Got your Point,Thank You for the Information
I Just Switched From Iphone 5S Maybe That's Why i have Devoleped this Laziness to Not to Look into Advanced things,I will Research more
I Used to Use Android in 4.0
There is something else that is draining your battery, such as an app, it's not the kernel
I flashed a lot on my elephone p9000. No need to on op5 stock experience is perfect
SimpleGX has very good feedback regarding battery saving and stock performance.
I'm currently giving it a try but it's early for me to comment properly.

What a negative bunch of responses.. I use franco, naptime and get 5hrs plus SoT easily.
You don't need to be a power user to have android. Stock is fine, but modded is better (this is xda after all).
Fresh install latest OOS, keep installed apps to a reasonable amount (which do you -actually use-?)
And then... Use. If you are a business user, expect less SoT. If you only watch YouTube on wifi, expect longer SoT.
You go and most importantly, explore! OP5 is a wonderful phone!

This or stock. I've tried all the other kernels (with a friend who also has a OnePlus 5). Stock beats everything else in terms of battery by at least an hour of SOT in daily usage, more if you use the whole battery in one sitting. Nobody seems to have a straight answer as to why this is. Simple gx stays close enough to stock that battery life is pretty much identical to stock. I have no idea why battery on Boeffla, blu_sparks, elemental x, Franco, etc isn't as good as stock, doesn't make any sense to me. Same results on 2 different phones, but ymmv I guess?

Battery drain after 1 year and 8 months using s7 egde duos

Hi all,
I Have s7 edge duos 1 year and 8-9 months. I use phone much, play Asphalt 8 every day.. In last 10-15 days I can see my phone drain battery much, especially when play game. I did full wipe 2 times but not much difference.
Phone is stock, never rooted.
What you think, can some stock rom from sammobile or curstom rom+kernel help? Or this is normal after almost 2 years using phone??
Thanks for advice.
There is an app that can very accurately measure the battery wear (percentage of dead battery cells). It's called AccuBattery and its free on Play Store. I have the phone also about 1 year 8 months and my battery is at ~70% capacity (2600mAh vs. the original 3600mAh) so I also experience this huge battery drain. This is not something that can be fixed by software. Consider replacing your battery. (I read somewhere that a new original Samsung S7 Edge battery costs 30eur + handwork, so if you wanna search for a replacement it might come in handy to know how much they are charging you for their handywork)
EDIT: AccuBattery needs a few charges to accurately measure the battery wear, so don't look at the results immediately, wait a couple of days.
I have the exynos version of s7 edge and its been 8 months since i got this.... and i get massive battery drain due to android system and device idel...
Used a battery testing app it showed most of the battery was draines by apps usage around 61%...
I reset my phone twice.... i don't know any solution...

Are you rooted? Rooted phones have been known to drain the battery faster.

In ProMobi (our official Samsung Repair Service) they said that waterproofness is still guaranteed (but I don't believe them). The price is 5600 RSD (48 EUR).

In this moment my battery capacity is about 53%, 1900 mah.
I found some battery on E-bay and Aliexpress for 10-15 usd. Not sure what to do really. Phone is great. Only battery isnt anymore. I have power bank 10.000 mah. 5.600 rsd is ok price for genuine battery.

My current battery capacity is around 3100mah shown by accu battery and i kind of fixed the problem
All the problem was in facebook app and the chrome...
I disabled the location permission of fb app and disabled chrome.... display set to hd and one more thing is that most of the batterywas alao being taken by touchwiz home...
So i switched to launchair and applied dark theme.... turned off location history and everything and now even with wifi on my device has 5 hour of screen on time with 41% power left in battery... ps. I also enabled the mid power saving mode and tgings are wat better now.... 8 hours of usage time remaining
And ss are attached

I would definitely buy a new original battery. This is a great phone and except the battery it will last for a few more generations with no hiccups.

Moj prijatelj ima servis telefona. Danas sam pricao s njim oko zamene baterije.
I mnogo me to odvlaci da ga promnim. Za note 8 nisam pri parama iskreno. Ako zamenis bateriju obavesti me.
Nadam se da nije zabranjeno pisati na srpskom na xda. Nisam citao pravila.

Brand new battery charges way too fast?

So a few days ago I bought a brand new Samsung OEM battery and battery life is indeed better than what I had with the old one but I have a question that's bothering me. My phone charges for around 1h40mins from 0 to 100%. Is this ok? I'm on Nemesis Reborn v5 ROM using Espheni Kernel, fast charging is disabled in Kernel Audiutor app and I'm using a USB 2.0 cable with my original charger that came with the phone. Should I be worried that it says it needs only ~1h40mins to fully charge or it's fine? Worth noting is that it actually takes a bit longer than that, somewhere around 2 hours. But yeah, I don't know why it shows such a low estimate and am worried that something might not be ok. Any ideas? Right now I'm doing this just in case: https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-calibrate-the-battery-on-your-android-device#battery-issue

Hi again, my battery takes 1h50 to fully charge. This is what get the majority of users (search on youtube too, the S5 during charging tests takes the same time). I suggest you to enter *#0228* on your phone dialer (after unplugging the charger) and press "quick start"; then plug it again and charge to 100 %.

Hm, if you charge it for 1h50mins then I'm fine since I charge about the same time. I just thought it was longer a year or two ago but guess not, thanks

People need to understand that proximity sensor bug it's from the device not the ROM that's why you see it some often even on MIUI stock. For me all it's working, for other people sometimes it fails, but then it start to work again.

You're welcome, don't let that bug to stop from testing other ROM, it can be fixed with some calibration app as i've read, or by just restarting the phone a couple of times, even some others says that activating the pocket mode fixed it too. :good:

Greetings, It's been a while since I tested that rom, sorry but I don't have it and it might be kinda hard to you to find it out, since NunoCodex dropped support for that rom when Q came out. And so far PE is being maintained in Q.
