worth it? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

OK considering getting a op6t later this week.
Overall is it good?
Currently I've a HTC u11 weird choice I know but the screen is mint.
With the lower res on the oneplus would you buy again after owning one?

Best phone I've owned.
I like the fact that it is dual SIM and works on Verizon.

OnePlus 7 is right around the corner. I'd wait for that if I were you.

I just got this phone and it's the best phones I've had. I've only had all Galaxies but even with Ron's on my galaxy this phone is soooooo buttery smooth and very fast. It's basically everything I'd try to get my Samsung to be. This is a great choice but the OnePlus 7 is coming out soon so it's up to you.

I've seen the standard op7 specs its not much different to be fair. Unless your going pro. Thanks for the responses. I'll get my op6t

Okay, so, after going through many brands and various experiences these are my 2 cents on the 6T: :fingers-crossed:
Camera is very good, but there are better options if you're purely focusing on photography
The performance is absolutely magnificent. Dominates the charts.
The UI experience is one of the best. OxygenOS not only instigates a fully seamless and stock experience, it offers a wide range of personalization options and really helps the user experience.
It is a stable OS, updated consistently and unlikely to experience unprecedented hard resets and bootloops.
Connectivity is brilliant, apart from the Bluetooth. I have been having some trouble with the automatic connection to eg wireless headsets and the instance of remaining connected or switching between audio sources, also had some issues with connecting to other devices.
Screen is great, yet I feel they could've done better with the resolution, than just 1080p.
Other features like the notch and the fingerprint sensor are huge pluses and good conversation starters, as they not only make the device an actual beauty but are recent innovations.
The build quality is great. Sturdy, durable, slick.
Lack of a headphone jack is a bit asinine, but does not in anyway overweight the advantages. Would still like to see a jack on the upcoming 7.
Great price. Value for money.
The lack of a stereo speaker and poor placement not only makes it easier for one to cover it up accidentally but also makes for an okay audio experience, which is unsatisfactory by my standards.

I love my 6T, but would sell it in a minute and buy a 7, if the 7 brings back a notification LED.

I got the OP6T McLaren edition in January and it has been a fun device. I agree with everything others said above.
For lack of notification LED light, there are a few apps you can use that work very well. And for the lack of stereo speakers, there is a magisk module that turns the earpiece into a second speaker which works well. :good:

I bought one because it seemed like the best value locally. My wife bought at the same time one of those $1400 apple doo hicky things after playing with my phone for 37 minutes she made me return her fancy designed in California apple and buy her a one plus 6t.

Well I got it. Brilliant phone

Lol anything that has been removed during the span of 6 and 6T will not ever return. Led is going away in almost every smartphone coming out this year even Samsung removed it in the s10 and it's all to make more screen and OnePlus will follow that trend just like with the notch...... And they're definitely not bringing back headphone jack.... Both 7 and 7 pro are going to be using an optical in display demerit similar to the one used in the 6T... Maybe the pro will have something better since it's the pro though (ultrasonic?) Maybe but I don't think so.....

This is the first device in a long time I'm not overly bothered about rooting. Very odd

Exactly. Everyone says to root it an get more, but in reality, unless you use a lot of magsik moduels then there is no reason to. Only thing g I did was turn my TMobile variant into an international one.

I only use root to block ads but there are solutions for that these days. Root is also use full to get rid of gapps.

I switched mine to international. Rooted with magisk to block ads, enable dual speaker, also used swift installer to completely black out everything so I conserve battery. Viper 4 android. Installed TWRP as well. I agree though I was very impressed with everything stock. I've always had Samsung phones and this was everything I'd try to get my Samsung to be.

Anyone moved from oneplus 5 your thoughts please.

So I tried the oneplus 5 yesterday and low and behold the jello effect drove me totally nuts. I just couldn't live with it and had to take it back. Just wanted to findout from those who have come from or are considering going to oneplus 5, what are your thoughts around the htc u11. The reason I ask is that it seems the oneplus 5 is currently the best in terms of performance one you take away the jello effect. So your thoughts will be appreciated.
I'm actually very curious on this too. As I'm getting bored with my V20 and I'm debating between the Oneplus and U11. If anyone has it on T-Mobile I'm curious on its performance with them too.

Didn't own OP5, but have U11 which is absolutely wonderful device - you got nothing to worry about performance wise, and in some cases will outperform :good:
I came from an OP5 and to me the devices felt like a night and day difference. The U11 has a much more premium build and feel compared to the OP5 and is far superior in terms of camera, water/dust resistance, hi-fi audio, expandable storage and excellent Sense development (Viper, Leedroid, etc.). In my case it felt very much like a "you get what you pay for" situation. If you're willing to shell out a few more bucks the U11 is all around a better device.
I spent only a few days w/ the OP5 before returning it. I had a weird Wifi hotspot issue w/ it that I couldn't keep it. For the short time I had it, I like the build. But I was not impressed w/ the camera nor the battery life. U11 camera is very good, and the squeeze feature is NOT a gimmick to me, it's the quickest way to launch camera.
Thanks for the input, folks. I was briefly thinking about the OP5 just because of the lower price (money is tight at the moment) but I have a 128GB version on pre-order (money's tight, but it's worth $80 for the uptick in RAM and storage). I'm 99% sure I'm making the right choice, but it's good to get confirmation.
Best phone that I have ever had. Squeeze feature is a game changer (truly...). Smooth, stutter-free scrolling everywhere you look.

You won't regret it. I've had mine since the 8th of June and I can say without a doubt it's the best device I've ever had the pleasure of owning and I've owned plenty (just look at my signature :laugh. The only thing that has me irked about it is HTC pulled S-OFF. It reverts to S-ON when it reboots which is going to be problematic when it comes to getting it out to end users and it also means that once you unlock the bootloader, you cannot restore it to factory "locked" - you will have to deal with the relocked tag and the voided warranty.

I actually tried 2 oneplus 5 phones and they tried to convince me that the jello effect wasn't there, and quite frankly for me that was it. They literally tried to convince me that something which was clearly a hardware issue was a feature!. I opened a thread on the oneplus net about it and it vanished because they can't stand the truth. The only thing the phone had was speed , but obviously they had to cut corners to enable that. I think when they do realise that people want quality not just 8gig of ram then I will go back to them.
I've got a Oneplus5 and a U11. Frankly, i used the Oneplus5 for about 2 weeks and then 4.5.5 came out and screwed Android Auto in the wife's car. It works in mine but not in hers. She was going to use the Oneplus5 to ease back into Android after 4 years of iOS and now the Oneplus5 sits powered off until I get the time to figure out why AA doesn't work in her car but does in mine. It's utterly frustrating.
As far as the U11 .. it works flawlessly with anything I throw at it. It's fast, gets great compliments on it's appearance and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it at all. Almost wish I'd bought 2 so the wife could use one. hmm. Live and learn I guess.
I have U11 on the way, but after using op3t I'll surely miss the alert slider.
But op5 has jello and no OIS and that just doesn't cut it.

I use Audio Profiles for this and have for quite a few of my Android phones. It works well and has quite a few options. It works well on the U11. It's not a hardware slider but we can't have everything.

Why I'm not selling my U11

Figured I'd start a thread for every one keeping their phone since there's a few about selling them. Share your thoughts.
I love this dang thing!!
I originally bought it even tho my M10 wasn't paid off figuring how much better could it be? Well the 10 is in a drawer.
Lots of storage over my 10. I can now store my flac files on the internal instead of having to get an SD card.

The same for me, I'm past my first year with the HTC 10 and still have til next May to pay it off lol. Although I still use my HTC 10 for when I am flashing or updating a ROM, I have to have a phone at all times for work. Have you rooted it yet?
This is a good phone but.. There's not much standing for it, good camera but slow in comparison to other phones, speakers are a bit better than on the s8 but they're not that special, display is good but not up there with the best and the minimum brightness is still bright for dark environments, edge sense is a gimmick, the water proofing on this phone isnt that good and ive seen people having problems with their phone due to water damage and basically i wouldn't trust to put this phone in water on purpose and i treat it as a non waterproof phone, the battery is pretty good but not that great for me, The bezels are big, there's no option to lower the brightness in camera app and no option to turn off capacitive key light, htc sense is ok but it has bloatware that you cant install and no useful features.. Nothing special aboit it and i guess the only thing good about it is that its close to stock android and the performance on it is great. Basically this is a good phone but the pixel xl 2 will have better camera, performance, battery, maybe speakers too, design and display, software and more support. Maybe also better waterproofing

Looks like you like to hang with other Samsung junkies and parrot everything they say. You all are so worried we might have a better phone that you always have to come here to snoop and see whats going on, taking notes for all the talking points against HTC. My capacitive keys lights are off. What is this bloat you speak of? HTC allows us to disable and hide any bloat if there is any. Bezels are not even noticeable when using this beauty and at least our fingerprint scanner is in the right spot and has been proven to be much more reliable. Edge Sense is by no means a gimmick, I think we are well past that talking point. Any reasonable person knows not to intentionally drown your phone, and if you do you are supposed to dry it first before using. HTC specifically states this. The battery has already shown to beat the competition. The mics beat all of the competition, 3d audio recording. There really isn't much to complain about this phone some people just can't stand that something might be better than their beloved, super almighty Samsung giant. It's like it's their mission to make sure no one wants to experience it. "LOOK AWAY! LOOK AWAY!" LMAO

Yeah I didn't want to either with this beast. It really isn't needed but there are a few things that make it worth it and the main thing that always draws me back to HTC, the freedom of having an unlocked bootloader. Just a few minor things I enjoy like all black theme and apps that require root like the new edge sense plus. To say there isn't anything special about the U11 is just not true. There isn't much you can't do with it especially after the next update.

Did u even read the title of the thread?
Reasons why I'm keeping
1. Solar Red looks AWESOME.
2. Smooth smooth smooth. No stutter unlike my previous s8+ exynos that stutters quite often after 2 weeks of use
3. Edge sense is not a gimmick. It's useful especially after using the edges sense plus app (waiting for the huge official update promised tho)
4. Camera is awesome. Id rather have one lens phone that excels in image quality than a dual camera phone that is only mediocre or even good
5. Battery life is good enough for me. Dual sim, all day mobile data 4g, 6+ screen on time, 20 hours of total standby time. What I did was disable all bloat especially news republic.
6. Did I say solar Red is AWESOME?
7. That speaker.. Really love watching videos on it, good enough for listening music when I don't have my bt speaker around. The included noise canceling earphone is also very very very good. Haven't been using many bundled earphones for previous phones. But this one is a keeper.
8. Never had any problems with waterproofing. Then again I will never believe in waterproofing on a phone since I had incidents with z1 compact, Z3 compact, s5.
9. Fingerprint sensor is EXCELLENT. I have greasy fingers which usually problematic when using fp sensors. Had problems with p10+, s8+, Pixel xl, xzp. 99% of the time it works with this phone.
10. The fact that overall this phone bests everything on the market. I don't have premonitions on phones that comes next. But as things stand this phone is the best bet.

I'll sure drink to this list. The phone is a real pleasure to use and fiddle with.
I've been unlocked and rooted the phone, pretty much I'll stick with it for some periods. That's no perfect phone on Earth when you switched to others you'll find some other problems eventually.
What I don't like is the camera noise though the details is great but it got too much really and do need some more denoise. The size is a bit big for 5.5" too.

That's for you to decide, but here's my honest opinion. If i was supposed to use any Samsung phone, it would be the Note 8, and that's because of the 6gb of RAM, along with the refinements that are included in Samsun's 7.1 rom. The Note is DEFINITELY more fun that the U11, and that's coming from a diehard HTC lover.
However...I still don't feel that Samsung touches HTC when it comes to optimization and performance over time. I highly anticipate that the U11 will be pushing through the bits and bytes much more gracefully than the Note 1yr from now. Samsung ages horribly, and I'm talking from experience. My wife always gets the equivalent Samsung device when I get my new HTC...EVO vs Epic 4g, EVO LTE vs S3, M8 vs S5, S7 and S7 (got it with a BOGO...regrets....), and U11 vs S8. My phone always comes out on top for a longer period of time. So, I'm not simply blowing hot air when I say that HTC has much more consistent performance than Samsung.
Well, Samsungs are consistently inconsistent with performance...so my statement isn't completely accurate.

Anyone regret getting this phone? :/

I have the U11 since inception along with the S8 (exynos variant) and Oneplus 5. I really regret buying it since I cant even sell it now. I'm left with the choice of selling my other two phone and use this :/

The battery life isnt as good, samsung did some vodoo to make their battery last while viewing youtube, the Oneplus sometime beat the S8 if not on par with it. The lack of 3.5mm is such a hassle, I have my personal in-ear monitor, I use it to listen to music, and everytime I go somewhere I have to carried a pigtail. The phone is so much wider to hold with one hand, granted the oneplus 5 isnt far off, but it is bigger, with a case, I feel like its almost the same as my LG V20. One handed usage is such a pain. Not a big deal to me but when it comes to photography, its hit or miss, sometime it over expose sometime it doesnt. Oneplus have this issue too but the S8 really is a happy medium.
The ****ty thing abuot S8 is the damn bixby functionality. Touchwiz has come a long way, and Its awesome now, but bixby need to die. Oneplus is a good phone with top spec, but their screen cannot touch the S8 amoled, viewing it side by side the S8 just trump the oneplus screen. the U11 have good screen, better than the oneplus 5, in this regard.. Seems like every year HTC push out a phone that doesnt WOW or excite you, just leaving you in a state of euphoric until many of it quirks find it way back to the phone....SHame really, fallen from grace down to here.

Before I got mine I did a ton of research. Went to a MeetU event, checked it out in Sprint stores and saw tons of reviews. I knew the stuff I had to live with like the dongle for headphones. Sorry you don't like the phone. I'm assuming you can't return it anymore?

You are more than welcome to your opinion but why on Earth can you "not sell your phone"?
I like the phone at the moment.I think it will be a problem to resell it because not so many people are using HTC.Nobody from my friends are using HTC.iPhone and Samsung addicted ?
The only thing I regret about the U11 is its size, but I didn't have any way to test it out before purchasing. It's difficult for me to use with one hand. I still have a couple of weeks to return it for a refund, and really the only newer phone that intrigues me is the Essential. But that device feels like a gamble in a few ways.
I don't see why you would have any problems selling the U11. You may not receive as much as you paid for it, but somebody will buy it. Someone bought my 10 a few weeks ago (with several accessors) for $475 very quickly.
No, I made an informed decision and went with the best option for me.
I like that the phone comes with a USB DAC, I like the sapphire blue glass, I use the squeeze feature multiple times in a day, the only thing I've got slight reservations are the change to the warranty stance over unlocking the bootloader and their updates not being fast enough.
E.g. the new update indicates the display sensitivity issue is fixed and yet the 001 WWE users will probably be waiting another month.
But then again, I'd rather have this device over any of the others currently in the market.

10 hours screen on time on stock is easily achieved on the u11?

10 hours...did you shut off everything, turn screen brightness to 0? I can barely get it past 4 hours.
I use my phone typically with everything on, and auto brightness on. I never have a problem with the oneplus 5 or S8 last beyond 5 hours.

I dont have sensitivity issue. All phones works well as far as audio goes, I power my HD800s with a proper DAC/AMP not with a phone DAC/AMP. I cant see any in-ear monitor that cant be power (and power well) with any of these phones, its 2017.

thats the thing, phone usage is based on user to user. I am using the phone the same as my 2 other phones and it cant hang. You can go to any phone thread and there are people making ridiculous claim about their SOT, even in the S8. ask how they do it and they throw out a bunch of things they did such as turning down brightness to 0, some even put phone on airplane mode -_- c'mon man.
Im not which region your in OP, but in UK, you can trade your U11 to CEX for £415 against something else in store or £345 cash in hand.. and I think GAME do something similar.. Or eBay about £350-450 , which isnt the best, but if you dislike it that much.. then better some kind of cash than nothing...
The only thing I dislike about the U11 is that f**king News Republic is forced upon us if we want to use BlinkFeed, and your battery problem is caused by "News Republic" which powers BlinkFeed.. I actually really loved BF on the M8 and M9, it was useful, but Ive noticed that on the U11, NR is constantly waking the CPU when phone is sleeping and when your not even using BF at all, bit like UpDay used to be on the S7E. Im actually force to disable both BF and NR... and install G .Newsstand instead. Also, even when you "unfollow" a topic. like Football, or Chinese Politics.. it actually doesnt work.. I STILL those Newsfeeds
Now to me, BF was a great part of Sense UI.. and disabling it, is a bit like not using the Stereo Speakers or the camera.. its a major part of HTC phones.. So Im not happy either.. When HTC went stock Google to reduce the Bloat on their phones, why didnt they just bake Google News and Weather or Newsstand as BlinkFeed..
Other than NR... I love the U11 and my G6, but these 2 are my last Android phones.. my next phone is an Iphone 7 plus..
Battery life is very good. But excellent with a custom kernel. Get about 7 hours of on screen time.

It's not though... It's brightness set at 50 at auto, normal usage and even social media apps..
I don't use my phone that much that I can claim 10 hours screen off time, but my phone easily reached 2 full days of my normal usage and 6 hours screen on time during that time...
Loving mine thus far. Coming from the S7, my battery life and performance has been pretty dang good. Even before S7 root, it is noticeably better. When considering the S7 root situation of having to use an engineering boot/kernel, and the mess it made with the battery life/performance...it's night and day.
The lack of headphone jack is somewhat disappointing. In reality I don't find myself needing headphones as often any more now that I'm done with college and all that jazz. The only other complaint I have is the lack of accessories for it.

* Battery - my SOT is 6hrs. More than any other phone I had used except for the Mi Mix(9-10hrs). Lots of FB, Viber. Regular text messages and calls. some games.
* 3.5mm - you can't complain about this. You had to know from the start that HTC U11 didn't have one.
* Camera - excellent for me.
* This phone is very fast and smooth I have no complaints whatsoever.

Regrets? Overrated?

So, i'm a noob to 1+ devices having got my 6T last November and it being my first 1+ device ever. Overall, I really like the device and it's definitely one of the best I've owned. I just don't feel it has lived up to all the hype. I have two lines and still use my Pixel 2XL and lately I'm finding myself liking my P2XL more than my 6T. Believe it or not I feel like my P2XL is faster and more fluid. Anyone else feel similar? I'm not trying to bash the 6T I'm just curious if anyone else feels like me.
Make sure you're on the latest firmware (9.0.11). The 6T OWNS the Pixel 3, let alone the 2, in just about every area except the camera, which gets better with every update. Give it a real chance, you wont be disappointed.
No regrets here. Absolutely love the 6T. My favorite device I've owned and I've owned plenty.
A little regret because I can benefit from its top specs at all. It doesn't support volte or vowifi in Canada.

I am kind of in similar situation.. I have Pixel 2 XL and bought OnePlus 6T.. Though 6T is faster, I feel my 2 XL is smoother and has better experience overall.. and man 6T kills my apps even after disabling all battery optimizations... I even miss voice calls and WhatsApp calls sometimes... Thinking of returning 6T
I had a P2XL previously and moved to a 6T in November. Unless things have improved lately, I found the 6T to be smoother for me. As stated by others, the only area I think the P2XL was better was in the camera, though I have been quite impressed by the pictures taken on the 6T for its price, especially with recent updates. I know we have the GCam port, but think it's still quite buggy. I would be very happy if somehow the HDR+ algorithm was integrated into the stock camera, though highly unlikely. No regrets here.
The obly regret is camera and camera app. The xamera app is so bad, no video recording options
Overrated imo, Price is too high now for what we get their is better value to be had elsewhere, Mi Mix 3 for example in UK it's the same price, Better Camera sensors/software, Better Display and wireless charging etc. OP3 was awesome for it's low price but OP6T doesn't live up to that, OnePlus hype is over for me probably my last OnePlus device.

Well said. The development for Xiaomi devices has been very good, I think that is what I will try next.
No regrets here either, have owned a lot of phones in the past and this one of the best if not the best. Miss wireless charging but the beast battery last forever.
Only had the 6T for a little over a month. Had the OnePlus one, but did not like it. Too many glitches.
They've improved a bunch. For the price, in my opinion, good bang for the buck!
I've owned a LOT of phones over the years. OP6T ranks right up there as far as I'm concerned.
Regrets? Most phones with this hardware are around 1000 euro. Almost every phone factory gets very greedy.
Well the fact that I got this phone for $280 bucks by trading in my s7 edge, I would say is the best deal for any phone I've ever had except for the HTC amaze which I got for free from staples 5 years ago. I would not have paid 580 as I have a brand new note 8 so it was just a back up. It's my 1st and I think it's nice, better then most at this price point.

Don't forget OnePlus is a budget phone with flagship SoC, Storage/RAM only rest of the phone is just cut corners to keep the cost low.
Do you tend to own phones for more than two years? If not, you'll see the overall value and abilities OnePlus devices tend to offer over other devices in the fragmentation department. My OnePlus 3 was still going very strong and I only updated because I was a sucker for the 6T. But truthfully, I never had an issue with my 3 slowing down or developing faults. I can't say the same for any LG, Samsung, or Motorola devices I've owned. OnePlus failure rates are some of the lowest in the industry, and it's evident as to why if you see videos of their manufacturing process on YouTube (Linus Tech Tips and Unbox Therapy I believe).
Sure, other devices may have explosive features that OnePlus may not always include. But at what cost? For the price, stability, support and power that you get with a OnePlus is unmatched. The 3 is STILL getting updates and works great. But if you're someone who updates regularly, I can see why maybe you'd feel like you're missing out.

You know, I thought the same thing but if you take the time to figure out the software its really not that bad at all. Coming from a Pixel 2 XL, I am content with these photos but it seriously took me some time to get used to the camera. Work on your focus, leave HDR on auto; you will be good.
No regrets here.

I just cant stand those oil painting finish photos. Its app problem because on gcam photos looks much better, more details and no oil paint effect.
And i cannot use the stock camera app for movies. There are no settings or options. No focus lenght, no white ballance, no controls for manual control.
Well, if anyone cares I can say that the 6t has been the most awful phone I have ever owned. I literally now own a $700 brick. And OnePlus the company should be ashamed of themselves. I am fighting to get this phone running. And customer support has gone 100% silent on me. My last call, I got the perpetu-hold by the agent and I hung up after about 30 minutes of waiting for her to "consult a coworker". It's been so bad that I am trying to social shame them. I have a youtube post titled "Why my OnePlus 6T sucks and OnePlus Support is awful". I would link it, but I'm too new on the forum.
It's why I'm now on this forum trying anything I can to get this phone working.

Well... Why did it stop working?
I have shifted from my iPhone 6s to Oneplus 6t. The main reason for the shift to Oneplus specifically in Andorid is the gestures it offers - switching apps, closing apps etc
After 1 month of usage, I believe Oneplus is the phone, if you want to get things done. Its fast, its battery is amazing. The reason why some people get annoyed is because its just too fast and for this reason it doesn't seem fluid. But trust me, using the iphone for years, I did enjoy the fluidic experience, however, I don't like it anymore and prefer speed, performance and battery life and Oneplus delivers on all these aspects. The teardrop notch and in screen fingerprint make the experience even better

Fed up with Oneplus

Is anyone feeling fed up with OnePlus on some level. This week they released their new beta 7 for the 6T. The update lists updates for weather and Switch app and this is the same for all their devices on open beta.
To me at least it feels like they're struggling to keep up with the beta roll outs for all their devices.
There are many bugs/feature requests that are being ignored and they are just rolling out these meaningless updates so that they can say that they provide two beta updates a month.
I've spent a fair bit of money on OnePlus phones in the last few years and always defending them mainly with the point of updates are frequent and the software is great,. It now I'm not so sure going forward. Looking at other devices now giving more for less money, even Samsung mid range A50 is giving a 4000mah battery, expandable storage, and official IPS rating amongst many other features
Really thinking of moving on from OnePlus as the price keeps rising and it's not worth it for what we're getting
Honestly the software isn't a problem. The complaints most people have are prices rising without anything more in the phone. IN FACT from the 6 to the 6t we lost several features and QoL things.

Feel free to go buy a crappy $1,000 Samsung or iPhone that provide nothing except nice screens and cameras. Good luck with that. For the money, OnePlus is the best value performance and mod friendly phone around that supports all cell networks in the US. So does a Pixel, but that is also another $1,000 phone and their updates are no better.

facts.
No problems with them here.
I've owned the following (not counting my previously owned iPhones lol):
Nexus 6P
Pixel XL
Pixel 2 XL
Pixel 3 XL
OnePlus 5
OnePlus 5T
OnePlus 6
OnePlus 6T
The 6T has definitely been my favourite device and best performer out of all these past smartphones I've listed.
The 6 has the same specs as 6T but I guess the software wasn't as polished as it is now on my 6T. It's blazing fast and smooth, no stutters or lag.
It's surprisingly faster and less laggy compared to my recent 3XL! The initial app launch speeds for example, are significantly faster on my 6T (and no, it's not just because of faster animations).
The price is slowly going up, but it's still the best bang for your buck compared to other devices in this price range.
I do enjoy quick software updates, but I'm not a beta user and it's also by no means a deal breaker for me. I don't mind a few delayed updates here and there. No big deal.
Battery life has been insane as well, averaging 6 hours of SOT where I normally get about 4-5.
The issues I have with this phone are the following:
- Lack of VoLTE and VoWiFi (but I think this is a carrier specific issue for me)
- Weak and cheap feeling vibrate motor
- Inferior camera (especially after using the Pixel 3 XL camera) (Gcam port helps a bit, but still inferior)
- FP scanner is hit or miss, and I hate how night light disables and screen brightens during scan/lockscreen
- FP scanner incompatible with custom ROMs (the flashaholic in me is having withdrawals) (however OOS is growing on me and I'm loving the stock software experience now!)
- Wrong mic used in some apps (i.e. Snapchat)
However, despite all these issues, I still consider it to be an overall better experience and value compared to all my other devices I've owned in the past. I may skip the OnePlus 7 and keep this, not only because it's been a great overall experience, but also because the 7 is supposed to have a popup front camera. Introducing motorized parts is asking for trouble, so I may skip it.
All-in-all, it's the best phone I've ever owned and I'm definitely not fed up or anything of that nature.
Coming from Samsung to OnePlus 6T. There isn't a chance in hell for me to go back. Devices are way more expensive and they aren't as good for me any way.
With storage and root capability I couldn't ask for more, other than maybe a working LED.
As for updates unless they have something that really changes things then great if not who cares. People buy new devices then immediately want updates I just don't get it.
For me this is the best device I have ever owned. Just my two cents.

Same here , recently switched from HTC with a new model every year since the Touch <1992 maybe) lol.
No complaints here with the 6T. VoLTE and WiFi calling work. By no means does this phone have a weak vibration motor.
Google camera is my default.
Fingerprint scanner works 95 % of the time. Also using Renovate ROM 11.1. I have always used an original OS, no AOSP or custom OS ROMs.
Looking forward to the full screen 7T and pop-up camera, it will be a nice feature. If your vibration motor has never quit on a phone I highly doubtful the camera will have any issues.
My last device was a Galaxy S8+, being in the U.S., it would have to be a HUGE breakthrough to get me to switch back. Perhaps like an unlockable bootloader on sammy devices, but we know that isnt gonna happen!
I hear you. This is my first OnePlus device and I actually don't like the stock software. After 3 months I grew to hate it due to several reasons. After getting fed up with it I decided to install Havoc ROM and haven't looked back since. I love Havoc and the phone runs extremely good with it. My main regret is the 7 is looking really nice. I like how it doesn't have a front cam because I don't use the front cam and the idea of having a full screen front display is intriguing. I might sell my P2XL and OP6T when the 7 comes out. I might also wait to see what the Note 10 has to offer. I'm not a huge Samsung fan but the Note 10 might be interesting.

How does the Referral Program work tho. I know this is OT but OP6T is my first OP phone. Got it solely for the custom Development. And while the FP is a letdown its slow anyway so I don't care. Vibrate motor feels weak and inferior to me, especially after feeling the quality of a Pixel 2 and 3 vibrate motor. I can't really feel it in my pocket.
However, you raise an interesting point with the popup camera not giving any issues if a vibrate motor doesn't. Will have to wait and see once the 7 is officially announced!
I like my 6T. Best phone I ever had. But, I do miss the LED (it was a major part of how I used my phones), and the vibration motor on every phone I've had in the last 6 years or so has gotten worse each time. Not just oneplus. I miss the old Blackberry vibrators that could buzz the phone off the table.
I really like my 6T! Of course it's not all rainbows here either, there's a few annoying thing about this phone I'd change if I could. The mono speaker on the corner of the phone is just plain annoying, far too easy to muffle for a device with a built in "gaming mode" since obviously your hands will be on the top and bottom of the device. And the decision to keep the source for the new fingerprint sensor closed source...... That aggravates me since I soley went oneplus for the stellar dev scene here...... OP threw a wrench in the machine with that. It didn't stop development in any way, but I won't use a rom that lacks such a big feature, through zero fault of the devs here.
Yes I am fed up with oneplus. Especially software, as it's working bad. I've heard oneplus is supposed to be smooth, in my case scrolling is a nightmare. Also... Samsung s7 gets more updates and faster than this. It's April, and we're still on January patch. And this company has how many devices supported? 4?
