There are tons of tutorials on how to do it. Need to enable camera 2 api. Which in order to do so you have to unlock boot loader, enable it, then lock boot loader. Most likely wiping your device in the process. Once that is done then when you install the apk it will no longer crash.

As I mentioned there are tons of tutorials through it forum. All you need to do is search. There are newer ones than the one I used and possibly better ones, I don't know for sure.
these are the steps I followed back when i was still on Oreo. Im not sure if there is a better option now but its the one i chose and it worked:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/root-enable-camera2api-eis-t3749541
My device was wiped in the process so prepare for that.
I have had several monthly updates and the Pie update followed by monthly updates to Mar19 on Pie.
So yes updates still work and my API remains enabled.

That means I need to backup my data before I unlock the bootloader?
Unlock bootloader cause data loss?

It can. There is a way somewhere in the instructions with pressing a key combo that supposedly doesn't wipe. But didn't work for me. So just be prepared.

You are unlocking and then relocking
There is always a risk doing any of these mods of bricking your phone.

Post MHC19l update camera does not work at all

So i recently updated to the new mhc19l version on my nexus 6p (this is not android N, just the latest android update for the 6p). I did it via the flashfire method following this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvs0JQswTWw&feature=youtu.be
I dont have multirom so i didnt do the stuff it mentioned about that. At first I thought I was successful and everything was working great. I reflashed xposed to the latest version, and updated my elemental X kernal too.
But now when I do anything with the camera the phone gets really weird. Post reboot the camera preview will work only once. If I take a photo it crashes. And every time I try to do anything with the camera involved the thing will crash and not even load preview anymore. That includes 3rd party apps like snap chat. Also I can't edit quick setting tiles in system ui as it tells me system ui tuner has crashed, but that i can live with. The camera issues I can not live with.
None of that happens with my rooted 6p on the same build. I think you need to look at xposed, the kernel changes and all the other jiggerypokery you've done. I'd do begin by reflashing the factory image and do this manually either using Heisenberg's extremely clear guide, or by the flash-all.bat command that google supplies in the factory build. Then you can check camera, flash recovery (again, using Heisenberg's guide, it takes but a couple of commands), then root, add xposed, kernels and all that special sauce. Do it step by step, then you'll know when something goes wrong and only have to fix that.
Thank you for your help. I'll check that out. Do you think it may be because I updated from a pretty old build? (808L) I skipped a few updates and went right to the latest one, could that cause any problems?
Not really. I think it's because you've done too much using a tool and without checking things after each step. Stop using tools like flashfire when you don't understand what they do and get yourself up to speed with using the commands. After that, you'll spot where things have gone wrong and be able to fix or troubleshoot it within the community. No one can help you when it's an issue that could caused by one or more of a hundred things you've tinkered with.
It's not hard and worth the little bit of busy work and brain thought. You'll enjoy it!
Yea I like to tinker and stuff. It's just the customizations with dashclock and stuff that I don't want to lose. But I did app backups so hopefully I won't.
Something probably went wrong during the flash process. I highly doubt xposed or kernel modifications are to blame. I keep 12 xposed modules running at all times with kylo kernel which I have heavily modified with EX kernel app. Read Heisenberg's guide and learn to flash images properly and you should be good to go.
Before I do any reflashing today can anyone do me a favour and upload their camera APK?
Im just hoping it has something to do with that. Last ditch effort.
And thanks for the help guys
So i gotta ask. Using flashire only is it possible to lock the bootloader and flash small incremental updates without a problem? Its a bit sad to have a unlocked bootloader...

You can't flash anything with a locked bl. Locking the BL is nothing but trouble if you like to tinker.

Locking the bootloader is nothing but trouble. You know what's sadder than having an unlocked bootloader? Having a bricked phone because an OTA failed and your bootloader is locked. If that happens there's no way to save it.

What method did you use to update? Did you use an OTA zip? Or factory images? I'd Is there a reason you used Flashfire instead of updating the proper way?
Any Advice ?

Hello you seem very knowledgeable on the subject. I just picked up a 6P and was wondering how does encryption affect things such as TWRP and root. Do you advise to disable encryption on the device for ease-of-use in TWRP and root.

Look at my guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
Deception isn't necessary anymore, as long as you use the latest TWRP you should have no problems.
did it flash the vendor?

No, because if the OTA fails you won't have access to the option in Developer Options to enable OEM unlocking. Trust me, you want to have that bootloader unlocked. You don't wanna end up like the other guys who had to send their phone back for repair because they locked it.

Right... I did not think that the first step (enable bootloader unlock from dev options) is actually necessary.

Does anyone can help me a little about this? My goal is install Google Services, but MIUI instalelr doesn't work (I thought the Xaomi software could be useful, but nope) and installed everything by myself and nothing... I keep trying and will try everything possible so if you need to do something with this cellphone please tell me and I will helping in your work.
If you need everything just tell me, I'll have the phone for some days. Greetings!!!+

The YouTube channel you linked to is called "Android Doctor" and your profile biography says "Im the Android Doctor" so it's obviously your own Youtube channel. There's nothing wrong with linking to your videos (unless it's against XDA ToS I guess) so why lie about it?

Your warranty is already lost, it's like trying to be virgin again. You can relock the bootloader, but you can't revalidate your guarantee.

Only the message for only cosmetic purposes? You need a modified boot animation. So far is not available for the G5. Only for the G5+.
But the device still will be out of warranty.
The warranty is lost in the very momento that your ask for the unlock code in the Moto website, even if you don't make use of it to unlock your device.

i got rooted my g5 but due to some reason i had to give service center and they replaced the twrp recovery to their stock
so i want twrp (phone is still unlocked but when i tried normal method it doer not detect my phone) back can you guide me
Hey guys in my case, I bricked my phone and it was not able to boot. Because I flashed the poly os Oreo zip file from sorceforge.net which is under development. But when I went to the service center, I told them that my phone was not booting, they didn't ask me anything and said we will check and let you know. After one hour they told me your handset is dead. They replaced the motherboard free of cost. I don't know how this is possible, because I unlocked the bootloader' and flashed the twrp.

They probably couldn't even identify the reason you had the phone not booting. I also think it's improbable here in my country they will check if your phone was unlocked or not unless your phone is booting for them to see. In other words if the phone doesn't boot at all and if it doesn't show any sign when connected to USB or whatever methods they have to see if your phone is booting, they will replace it.
I'm pretty sure however, that motorola keeps records of the phones which required the unlock code, and I doubt very much that in the United States they would not check it.

[Question] Is possible root without unlock bootloader?

I had two Motorola's phone before, and none of them was necessary unlock bootloader to be root. That is the reason why I'm asking this.
Can someone explain me, please, If it's not possible. What is the reason?
Thanks.

I try it, but its impossible
That is good news, I won't update then, when (if) there is a ota.

Is my Moto G4 Play dead ?

Hi, I have a huge problem with my phone.
Recently I flashed the stock ROM in version 6.0 for my moto g4 play and I tried to do the updates. during the second update, my phone went out and this is the hard brick I was running on Android 7.1 before so I think there's an incompatibility beetween the bootloader and the OS, that's why my device is bricked
Using Blank Flash I was able to start my phone in fastboot mode. But this process locked my bootloader.
atm I am in fastboot mode with a locked bootloader and USB debug not activated, what can I do ? I can't flash anything...
Thanks
please I'm desperate. Is there nothing to do ?
Hey I was on the same boat, my moto G4 play was out of warranty and with just ₹300 they fixed the software. If you are from Kolkata then visit the Chadni service center, the guys are really helpful and cooperative. Now this moto G4 boots and works. That blank file that you flashed from the other thread is not correct for XT1602. I learnt this from the service center. Just take it to the service center and they will fix it up for you.

They say that they have to change some pieces of the phone whereas it's just a firmware problem, to make me pay more... At that price, I'd better buy a new phone !
Really, is there a way to re-unlock bootloader without using developers options ? or is there a way to flash a ROM without an unlocked bootloader ? Thanks
I read that it's possible to force device to go in edl mode and then flash the ROM, but I don't know how to go to this mode with this phone .
Thanks
