How is the camera quality?
Awesome rom
Excellent ROM ui , here is some screenshoot to share!!!
Umm... Why did we need a guide for this? It's the exact same process as it is with any other ROM.
And you didn't mention the fact that it doesn't boot with F2FS on /data.
Thanks a lot for this nice package. After installation, TWRP stopped accepting my decryption password. So yeah, a full wipe was required. It works, though, in the end.
I wonder, why flash GApps with the apk and not OpenGApps or something?
How is the camera quality?
Are you going to create a thread for every rom out there?. There is no need to do it.

Failed to update system image error 7??

I tried to migrate from GSI Treble rom Havocos 2.7 to SuperiorOS Pie by runninghamster
(I'm A2017G btw)
These are the steps I followed:
1. Reboot to TWRP
2. Wipe dalvik/art cache, cache, vendor, system, data, etc.
3. Reboot back to TWRP again (using okilabs 3.23.0)
4. Flash Universal bootstack v2, then flash A2017G_omodem
5. Flash okilabs twrp again
6. Flash superioros rom (here's where it goes wrong)
In the process of flashing superioros rom, it goes to error 7 and says, failed to patch system image unconditionally, updater process error 7 and all of that.
I've tried the tutorial where you remove the assert lines and all of that yet it still says that.
Please help me, it would be awesome.

Magisk for redmi note 7 lavender

if i installed magisk would i be able to receive and install miui ota updates!?
Sure but you have to meet some requirements :
1 You must have Orange Fox recovery (twrp) installed
2 A MIUI that receives an ota (es. MIUI.eu)
3 When you download the update you have to go to the folder where it was downloaded (With the twrp) And always from twrp after a wipe cache and davilk cache you can install It
A note from what I read when installing an ota update you usually have to reinstall magisk again, especially if the update is from a stock rom (and in this case You don't have to miss twrp too) Personally I have not tested this because I do not install ota updates I prefer to do clean installations of fastboot roms (always if possible)

Please Help! (Urgent)

Guys, I'm not very mature with this device Rn7. As i already know about it's encryption. It's v flaky.
I'm running LOS 17.1, i have setup Pin & Fingerprint in my device which i enter into the recovery as well for decryption. I never flashed a Firmware thingy in my Device. As i have read before flashing many ROMs, You should have to flash Android Q firmwares on Top. But i never did that when flashing LOS 17.1. I just rooted Miui 11 installed custom recovery (Orange Fox R11) & flashed LOS 17.1
Question 1: LOS 17.1 is FBE or FDE?
Question 2: If i want to move on to Bliss ROM 12.11 from my current LOS 17.1 (21.7 nightly), Formating data will be necessary? Or i can just wipe? So i don't loose my Internal storage.
Question 3: Does anyone know how to flash a firmware? BlissROM OP says flashing a firmware on the Top before flashing Rom.zip?
Question 4: If i want to backup (nandroid) my current OS (LOS 17.1) into the recovery. Exactly which partitions i should backup? So i can restore after trying Bliss ROM or if i get a bootloop or other issues (if needed). My Internal storage will be safe at that time aswell after restore?
My Current OS: LOS 17.1
Current Recovery: Orange Fox R11
LOS 17 is fbe. idk the rest

1) LOS 17.1 is FBE
2) when changing ROM is recommended to clean flash and format data but you can try to install the new ROM without formatting data, in case of bootloop or issues booting the system the only solution is to format data or restore the nandroid backup of the previous ROM
3) download the latest stable firmware (for your region or the global one) from https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/lavender/ then just flash it in recovery
4) read carefully this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...ngefox-recovery-project-t3941822/post79771469 remember to copy the backup to a safe place (external sd card or computer)

If i flash the firmware on the top first. & Clean flash the ROM but without formating data. & if the ROM bootloops, i can just format the data & reboot the system? I will have the working device with newly flashed ROM? Or i will have to re-flash the whole ROM. zip again after formatting the data if newly flashed ROM bootloops?
Necessary to know for me, Because i won't have ROM.zip into my internal storage then if i will format the data when the ROM bootloops.
In addition to what others have posted, I would add :
- you can flash firmware anyhow.
- only /data and internal storage parts. are needed in most cases to be backed up. But that depends on what you wanna backup. I personally do not recommend relying on nandroid backups for data because of encryption. It is a hit and miss and you dont wanna take the risk in regards to data I believe. Just use an app data backup tool instead.
- Efs, modem, persist partitions should be backed up at least once and should be saved in different places because they can help fixing rare issues of imei lost, fingerprint breaking etc

Format data after flashing the ROM and then rebooting the system should be ok and you don't need to reflash anything

How to install custom ROM without bootloop

Hello guys
I know custom ROM since many phones (Samsung Notes 1, 2, Honor 5X, Xiaomi Note 6, 7, Samnsung Tab S2 ...)
the bootloader is open with the good tool
the pwrp recovery is installed (so fox if i want)
and many ROMS ares tested but only MIUI12.2 (20.9.24) is functionnaly
the ROMS like ...
- Resurrection Remix
- Syberian
- Pixel Experience
- Cr Droid
and so on
All are installed correctly but bootloop during the first boot
Whats the problem ?
Thanks
Olivier
Hi,
Have you tried to flash firmware first ? do you make clean install (i mean format and not just wipe date) ? And OrangeFox recommanded, more than TWRP.
Give a try to those solutions and let us know if you want

Use latest orangefox: format data then wipe system, data, cache, dalvik/cache, flash firmware (if needed), flash rom, flash gapps (if needed), flash magisk (optional). In case of bootloop format again data partition
There is a problem with encryption with the rn7 so you always need to format data when changing rom so it's important to have a backup of your personal data before changing rom
maybe something that I missed,
you talk about firmware, maybe it is the KERNEL?
Besides, I agree to lose the data, but maybe I didn't erase the reported partitions.
Well I will resume in the strict order indicated by your post
Thank you
I resume my procedure from ORANGEFOX Recovery:
deletion of DATA, SYSTEM, VENDOR, CACHE, DALVIK partitions
SYBERIA ROM installation (for example). GAPP APPS, MAGICK
and at boot, again, BOOTLOOP
So something is missing, but what?
Rebooting with erasure of the DATA paritition does not help
Thank you for your efforts:
Versions software:
OrangeFox lavender 10.1-3
Syberia lavender 3.8
Magisk 20.4

Format data is different from wipe: in orangefox go to menu > manage partition > data > format data then type yes. Also use latest orangefox: https://orangefox.download/en/device/lavender
After installing version 11 of OrangeFox,
to format, I checked the only option
use rm -rf instead of formatting
and each time, formatted the partitions
SYSTEM, VENDOR, DATA,
wipe DAVILK and CACHE and Installation of different ROMs,
SYBERIA, AICP, PIXELEXPERIENCE or ATOM
with each time, OPEN_GAPPS, MAGISKR
same punishment, after launching the reboot, display of the boot images, and it turns, it turns ...
A little hopeless
thank you

Nothing I read over wipe system or vendor by this rom
Best option is to go back to stock ROM with mi flash tool and don't relock your bootloader. Then step by step

Instead of flashing 12 000 things, just go step by step and first, flash firmware as recommended : https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/lavender/ (global one for you i think. Check this thread too : https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7/development/firmware-xiaomi-redmi-note-7-t3925871).
format data as previous user say (do no touch, erase, format other things, just do as he say ! do not touch vendor, etc...)
Then flash rom and NOTHING ELSE, in order to understand which flash is giving bootloop (maybe gapps, maybe magisk) : try this with Pixel Experience which doesn't require additionnal gapps or flashing magisk.
If you do this, nothing more, nothing less, reboot betwen steps, it MUST work.
Hello
My loop problem is solved (for this time), thanks to the information provided by darhma
For the other 12,000 times, I read your post carefully ?
I appreciate the proposed approach of breaking down the installation in stages, and I would certainly take advantage of it in another similar incident.
However, I do not understand the need to upgrade the FIRMWARE, since I am already on a stock ROM, and I do not measure the scope of this firmware, other than to change the version of ROM.
thank you for your patience
So the solution was to format and not just wipe, correct ?

About the firmware, you have some information here. As i personnaly faced bootloop and/or error while flashing that was solved by flashing firmware, i thought it can be a solution for you too
Si je peux me permettre, do not hesitate to give details of how you solve the problem, as it can be useful for others users.
Anyway, happy to see that it works now for you : enjoy !
The problem I was having was mixing the WIPE function even with the option
"use rm -rf instead of formatting"
with the command proposed by @darhma sous OrangeFox
menu> manage partition> data> format data then type yes
Flashing the updated firmware didn't change anything
Thanks anyway for @ 21vm's suggestion, by reading the post on the firmware update, I understood its function.
in French, we speak of "micrologiciel", which I find is more meaningful.
Suddenly, this aspect completely escapes the notion of custom ROM, and therefore is under the exclusive control of XIAOMI (and the other manufacturers).
Thank you all
