Where are LineageOS and other custom ROMS developers? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Our RN7P brother have already been presented with LineageOS and crDroid, PiEx It came out later than us, how?
Developers, please, we need you <3

I also like this phone and considering to buy one. But I'm afraid it will take some time to get an 'official' LineageOS.
Of course, all is volunteer work whatI highly appreciate and respect for people making those Roms.
But is there any news indeed?

Every device I get has this problem. The device itself is perfect but development takes time to land!

Mi 8 lite its same device. Same kernel, same chip, etc. Its easyer to port from it, not from redmi nore 7 pro.

Sorry to state the obvious, but developers first need to have the device before any serious development work can be done. So, as they say, patience is a virtue ...

Isn't the device out since january ? I think it just released in France where I live, but internet says it's released, probably in other parts of the world, since january.

It is not the release date that is important. What is important is the date that developers buy the device. And if developers don't buy the device, and nobody donates it to them, then nothing will happen.
Edit: Remember that developers mostly do the work for free - and, as normal human beings, they only buy the devices that they want or need (not the ones that people want things to be developed for).

I've also been told it's when the kernel source is opened, and it's been since a bit less than a month I think. Now if you add to that 15 days before unlocking...
Would be a shame if that device didn't get any custom mods.

He obviously likes to flash ROMs which the developer has not tested, and cannot possibly test due to not having the device. Good luck to him.

hope more roms get released for RN7 soon,
like official Lineage & official Resurrection Remix

with answers like above i wouldn't be holding your breath, lol! apparently all all the devs need to buy the device before making custom roms for it! ROFL
the device is nearly 5 months old and there are still no custom roms for it.. the future looks grim.

what about this ??
from https://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/download-lineageos-16-for-redmi-note-7/
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=293024&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC
i tried to install it but treble error
i tried to erase compatibility zip in the rom but failed again
then, it turned into error 7
finally i tried to install the Disable-Force-Encryption-TWRP-flashable-zip-TREBLE but it failed again
anyways download folder is now empty
rom name was lineage-16.0-20190416-SIGNED-lavender and was a beta version
i guess they will re upload soon

I think the most important thing for us for time to work for roms . If we haven't time for than we cannot do. Also we can do blind build without device but also need an gud tester for making stable . I have created group for developers in telegram to bring tree so every nub dev can build from it . Pm me in telegram at https://t.me/saayad5 (pm only if you are a dev )

this is great news that roms are being worked on. :good:
would be great if we could get it off telegram though, it is a closed community that people don't want to give their phone numbers to use which slows down testing and development.

[ROM][4.3.1][UNOFFICIAL] Carbon

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

from 2011 i beleave thats when started locking down our phones, yes they have been unlocked before i.e hacked, bootloader,i think the devs name rickardo not to sure tho, but i think if we had doomlord look at it he might be able to help, like i say we have to wait and see as most of the devs already have unlocked bootloaders so where does that leave us, limbo lol, hope they find away to unlock that damm bootloader, regards joe,

The boootloader and kernel sources are different things, the kernel source code has been available for a while but as a zip file, devs had to track differences to incorporate into their "custom kernel", now it's much easier to check on the differences and even cherrypick.
I have been with android for a while but I've never had intention to unlock my bootloader so I haven't done much research on it. Therefore, here's another noob questions :silly:
How does this kernel publication from Sony benefit everyone? Can we create a kernel that can be flashed without unlock bootloader now? or Does it improve the quality of the existing custom kernels? or Does it contribute to Sony Stock kernel and Sony will use it for our devices in the future?

You must unlock bootloader, but that's easy - no big deal. Try I promise it's not hard.
It makes kernel developers easier to develop.

[NOTICE] I'm 'trying' Porting MIUI 7 for Titan

Oh, hey.
Since we doesn't have any candidate to patch and port MIUI 7 to Titan, I will do it by myself.
Um... I don't expect big returns for now... Actually, I've just synced Patchrom repo to my system. Then I'll start playing around. IF, only IF (not else or else if lol) the ROM runs sucessful-y I will create a proper Development thread later.

Funny Update
Okay, things are going on the right path. Sadly, I have to fix some errors so I can compile a zip file and test it.
Nice.. Looking forward to this :fingers-crossed:
Look, another update!
ROM got it's first zip. Stuck into bootloader. I flashed already knowing that it wouldn't boot up, just for testing purposes.
I will fix the remaining stuff and, about the RIL, I will ask for some outside help, just to make sure everything get's properly fixed.
Peace.
Oh... I will update the Futurelog daily, so, always keep checking. I promise I'll try the best I can to make this beauty come to our phone!

MIUI is around here for so much time... It's impressive on how hard it is port it to Titan. I think some people underrated this ROM nor had the interest to port it. Well, now I am here and I will try releasing ASAP.

So, are you a member of the Paranoid team? Have you built the rom yourself? Do you have Paranoid official signing key? Do you have any idea what signing key is? What's your contribution to the project? What makes you think you have a right to post "we" are launching a brand spanking new version of android? How did you help to launch the new Paranoid? Can you post a link to a single commit that you have contributed to Paranoid rom? What makes you think you can post the official version of a rom, to which you have zero relation on a development thread? Did you get an authorization from Paranoid to post their official version on XDA? How are you entitled to members' 'thank you', if you have contributed ZERO to the project?
You are a joke!
Edit: Memebers should know that they have the ability to 'unthank' their 'thank you' in this thread. This guy is doing nothing more than taking thank yous for the work of others...

Oh. Is that why you said this:
"We are launching brand spanking fresh. All new features. New team members. New everything and we have made sure that everything that we are releasing has been polished to our best."
So, you must be that new team member with an authorization and key to post and you have done things to make sure the rom is polished to Paranoid's best...
If you happen to find a rom to which you have absolutely no connection, you just post a link in a General thread. This is a development thread and you have no clue, as to what development is. This is not even an unofficial version that you could build yorself (you actually can't build anything). You are just plagiarising the work of others to get "thank yous", to which you have no entitlement. Shame on you...
There's probably a reason why no one from the PA team didn't make a thread for this(which is probably because camera isn't stable yet). Its official because they built it on their servers and they maintain it. They don't want unstable builds being used by the public, which could ruin their name.
All in all, you shouldn't have made a thread in the development forum to post the work of another person/group.

Yes since he arrived on xda a month ago, he started by asking for eta and posting bull****..... And now he robs hours of work. Because yes, you robbed what they did. Now it is enough. Somebody already did a thread in general section for cm 12.1. If you wants to share roms like that, create threads in general section.
Anyway...i will test it! I love honami sry for my bad eng

Open Source Code Available after all!!

Thank you to aloklike for pointing out the written offer in the lemax 2 about screen. LeEco did supply to us an open source after all at their website opensource.le.com!
Here is the direct link to the file for x829 (american version coming soon)http://g3.letv.cn/211/25/72/lefoss/0/Le_X829_OpenSource.zip . I have no clue what can be done with this but to current developers, I hope this will bring magic to custom firmwares now!
If you decide to share source code, by all means do so but please give proper credits to aloklike and me and especially XDA for pointing it out Don't forget to click Thanks if you find this helpful
Edit 1: This is the x820 source http://g3.letv.cn/232/13/5/lefoss/0/Le_X820_OpenSource.zip

No, but you can have fully working CM13, ResurectionRemix, Moke, MIUI, etc.

The link might not work due to ERR_UNSAFE_PORT in Chrome or other browsers...I just used a Download Manager (Jdownloader) to download the file.

But we already have those right now but some features not working such as IR and slow motion camera, which this source should fix it right?

You have them because they were developed with unknown sources and probably they were not working at their full potential. (even the working features)
Building them with official sources should reduce the bugs and lags and bad behavior to 0.
So if I am right, we will have good camera software en good FP sensor with the source code.

The stock camera software is decent except it doesn't have RAW mode enabled so maybe someone could re-work it to include RAW mode, or use google camera and re-build that for our device?

Nice, so how do i tag all the previous developers to this thread so they know?
This makes getting up this morning worthwhile!
Took a lot of poking and prodding and forcing motivation to get this out....Lots of us devs have been waiting for it. Personally, I'll thank all the devs I know and the ones I don't, for their efforts to get it too, cause I know they've pulled some strings along the way as well...
Woot

i'm so lucky,... lucky lucky lucky.. *sings*
Please dev's make some good rom's now. We're all pretty excited
Exciting news indeed. I can't wait for a fully functioning MIUI8 rom, with OTA and all the bells and whistles. I was getting frustrated. Hopefully, it won't be a long wait. All the best to our trusted DEVs out there.
Today source code for X820 has been released and source code for other devices, too. I don't know if there is a big difference between X829 and X820, but I don't refuse it ^_^
I think that my petition in Change helps this to become reality so, thanks for all people that have signed it, giving me support to continue and thanks to developers that have made roms, recovery and other stuff, doing a hard work, since there isn't available the source code.
There is no difference, x829 is the american version I believe.
