samsung Pay after lockscreen - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I have a strange issue with S10+ ... I have lockscreen secured with unlock with facial recognition, and fingerprint and backup pattern
But I think I may have told the device during one of those auto generate messages to auto unlock when "on body" is detected
But the problem is this .... Intermittently when I take the phone out of my pocket it's opening with swipe up to the Samsung Pay screen asking for a finger print .... The problem is that no matter what l do (home button, back button, etc) it just goes back to the lockscreen.... Unless I go all the way through the Samsung Pay timeout thing
Not sure why this is triggering intermittently
Anyone else?

In the Samsung pay app use favorite card menu. You might need to uncheck one of the options.

[Q] Smart Lock enabled but temperamental in Lollipop / N910FXXU1BOC3

So after a bit of digging around and research, I managed to find and enable Smart Lock. For those of you who didn't know, it's hidden under Security > Trust Agents. After you've enabled, a new 'Smart Lock' menu appears at the bottom of the Security settings menu where you can manage your Smartlock features. Interestingly, it also features the new 'on-body detection'.
So I set it up about 3 days ago but it doesn't always work for me and I'm questioning if it works at all. My lock screen is set to re-enable after 10 minutes of inactivity so it may just be that I logged in during this time and thought that it may be working. I have 3 differen't ways of using smart lock, all of which are enabled: 1= Bluetooth devices including my Moto 360 which is always connected 2=Location, my home address and 3=On-body detection.
But yeah, as I say, it doesn't seem to be working as 90% of the time, I still have to enter my pin to access my phone. Anyone else tried this or willing to test it out? I'm running the first N910FXXU1BOC3 release from Netherlands/Samsung Experience stock.
bumpy - Anyone!?
Went out of the country and decided to try it out, was working great, but here and there I noticed that the phone gets unlocked in the pocket on second day of using this feature, my pictures and music folder has been deleted, I suspect that it happened accidentally in the pocket... Don't have any other explanation. I would avoid this feature while traveling or if you have to pull out phone quite often.
I'm also having the same issue, mine doesn't work when using Smart lock with my Moto 360, it keeps asking for my finger print to unlock...
I have used On-Body Detection and I can say that it worked great from my point of view. One thing to mention, i don't keep my phone in the pocket of my pants, always pocket of my jacket so did not have any issues with unlocking by itself and performing random operations.
But on BOC3 i did notice that the phone was constantly awake and one of the things i tried was disabling on-body detection i can see now that the wakelock issue was resolved and i'm getting a estimated 3 Days left on 80% battery. From my point of view this is more important that unlocking the phone easier
And regarding the trusted devices part and pairing with a smartwatch, i don't see the security benefit of that as the Bluetooth range is quite big. From a security point of view, trusted devices based on a Bluetooth link is not a good idea.
Its not working at all for me with 'Trusted Devices' - I use my Motorola 360 as a trusted device and it all confirms its set up. The only change it actually makes though is that when I wake up my phone, I have to swipe up to access my pin entry screen. Whereas if I disable smart lock, I get straight to the pin entry screen! This was a completely clean flash of BOC5 (Lux) all data, system, cache, etc was wiped and formatted before install through ODIN.

Are you guys sure that you're using the feature correctly?
Swiping from the little lock icon on the bottom of the screen, brings back your specified secure lockscreen. It is a way to secure your phone again, even if a trusted device or other set conditions for Smart Lock are met.
Swiping from anywhere else on the screen should unlock the phone without any security checks.
Works 100% of the times for me.
Check out this video I made to explain it better:
Smart Lock works awesome on my phone. I have my truck's bluetooth as a trusted device and I set up my home as a trusted location. Both work flawlessly but one thing I had to do was add an additional location for my home along with the preset "Home" location I had set up in Maps a long time ago. It wouldn't work until I manually added the 2nd home location.
It's a great feature.

Thanks!
It's just not intuitive. I didn't think to swipe outside the lock ring.
Is it possible ty by-pass unlock screen completely, when in "trusted zone"? Without root.
I'm currently using KNOX and have lockscreen disabled.
If I enable lockscreen (to check its features etc), to disable it again I would have to delete my KNOX container.

I suppose it's a matter of personal preference, I like the idea of being able to quickly secure my screen without, for example, disconnecting my BT earphones. Plus, it's more difficult to aim for the little lock icon than to actually swipe in the middle of the screen.
I am not sure about your question as I don't use the KNOX container, sorry! It sounds though as a security measure that is not possible to bypass. But I could be wrong.

How to double tap to sleep without require to enter password instead of fingerprint?

I tried nova launcher with tap to sleep app, but every time reopen the phone it will require me to enter the password again.
I think this is a new marshmallow feature. If a third party app locks phone, it requires password. What happens if you manually lock or let time out.

Screen Lock Pro by Prahallad has a setting to bypass security. There is a free app by the same Dev but I haven't tried it.
Once installed you can link Nova's double tap setting to it.

Hi
Thanks for the pointer, I tried the free version of the app, and setup my Nova's double-tap gesture to use Screen Lock shortcut, I am able to lock the screen but unable to wakeup w/ a fingerprint. Is there something special you had to do?
Thanks in advance

It just turn the screen black until it lock itself. Takes about 3-4s. I know the developer wrote there 10s but it only takes 3-4s on s7e. You know it when the AOD comes on etc etc...
As of now, from what I can tell there is no way to use an app or double tap to lock the screen without requiring a pin for a non rooted phone. Apps that turn off the screen but don't lock the phone isn't really an answer.

It is an answer though. You just have to tweak the settings in the security section so the phone locks immediately. There is still a 2 sec delay but to get to lock the screen with a double tap again and get to unlock with touch ID it's fine. It costs a little over $3 though.... which isn't much but is on the steep side for such a single purpose app. There is a marshmallows touch ID workaround setting in it as explained which merely turns the display blank (although for me the edge thing is still visible) then after a really short delay the screen actually turns off and AOD turns on. With the system settings set right it actually locks securely the moment AOD turns on. Max 2 sec delay. No one's gonna get a chance to get in your phone that quick.:good:
So, I did come across this same issue, and it seemed to have started for me when I applied the May Security Update. It happened on my Note 5 and my S7 Edge. But when I applied the July security patch to my Note 5, double tap to lock WITHOUT a pin next login actually worked again, not so on my S7 Edge, after applying. Havent had enough time to research and dig, but doesn't make sense working on 1 and not the other when both are 6.01, both on July security patch, both Verizon models, and both use Nova Prime. Has had me stumped since May....
Sorry. Original post placed in forum for wong device.

Fingerprint reader doesn't read fingerprint on lockscreen

Hi all, i have a problem. When the phone is blocked and i try to open a notification, when i click on it the pin keyboard appear and it says that i can use fingerprint or pin...but when i try tu use fingerprint it doesn't work so i'm forced to use the pin. What's the problem?
has the fingerprint unlock worked before this?

Normal unlock yes, it work just fine. The problem is when I try to unlock with fingerprints when I want to open a notification. I found a topic about that and it seems to be a known bug.
Sended from my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Gold Platinum
for info- mine seems to be ok. Opened an email notification my touching and holding the notification- keypad appeared on screen -and "use fingerprint or pin". Used fingerprint and it took me straight in to email
Tap the notification once and use your finger to unlock. It'll open whatever app that notification comes from. Tap the notification twice, and the PIN-entry pops up. Enter your PIN or use your finger. That's pretty much it.

Yes, and the problem is that on my phone the fingerprint, in those cases, doesn't work. And i'm not the only one, i think it is a bug.

"device administrator locked device" when unlocking with fingerprint

First my fingerprint scanner works perfectly 10 out of 10 times it recognizes my finger,
but sometimes the lock screen take me straight to pattern lock and the message "device administrator locked device" appears on the screen.
why it is happening and what is the meaning of that?
Do you use an exchange account on it? if so, it is possible that adminstrator policies from that are nor considering the Fingerprint a viable security for the phone. Or it may force the pattern after a certain amount of time

Are you using the FingerPrint Quick Action app? What are your current Device Administrators, knowing what devices are permitted to lock your screen as an Administrator will help you identify the culprit.

screen off and lock is the culprit, any device administrator that locks your screen will require a pin to unlock regardless of fingerprints or smartlock configuration.

The app in question needs to turn the screen off via root. The fingerprint quick action app does just this.
why do you need an app to turn off screen? is your power button dead?

I just want to replace the home button long press from google now (or now on tap) to turn the screen off..
I did it with the "Screen off and lock" app but it caused the pattern lock "issue".
Nova Launcher will allow you to do a double tap to lock the screen. It will either lock it without use of fingerprint or it will set up a black screen and time out to use your device security or it has a root abilities to lock your device and use device security.

Strange
This is intended behavior on android 7+. Tested on Galaxy S5 with 7.1 Linage, Huawai Mediapad M3 and Galaxy S8+
However there is an app for samsung edge ( not sure if all edgy phones, tested on s8+ ) that can lock the screen without using device administrator. The app in question is Softkey Edge for Edge Panel, installed from galaxy app store. It allows the phone to be unlocked from fingerprint, without pin or pattern as nova prime screen lock gesture for example. And without root.
So there is a way to lock screens without device administrator, we just need to find it.
It's strange. I did not have this problem ever. I had to reload my phone because Oreo update blew up some programs I use a lot. So I downgraded, and now I have this problem.
I don't see anything in my Device Administrators that would cause this. And I haven't added any new programs for quite a while.
i have the same problem .after i unistalled screen off and lock application ,after working fine.

I presume that is a third party app. I don't have that to uninstall.
I found that the app "Files", a Huawei system app, giving this problem when marked as a device administrator. Disabling it's device administrator privileges solved the problem for me. Who would have thought Huawei's own app gave this problem.
I now lock my screen using Greenify's Sleep & Hibernate action, set up to be activated with a double-tap under Nova Launcher's gestures settings. No problem waking up and using fingerprint. Of course, Greenify must not be a device administrator as well. There are other ways to shut down the screen if not using Greenify.

Any app to turn s10+ screen off?

I know guys, there are a ton. But so far I found only two kinds:
- Some completely block your phone, not allowing you to unlock with face or fingerprint.
- Some -idk why- turn off the screen and randomly turn it on inmediatly after. This doesn't happen evertime, but it's a problem cos if you have smartlock activated then the screen is on and phone in unlocked...
I just want a way to imitate the power button single tap function. I don't like pressing physical buttons, I use a gesture to turn the screen off before putting it inside my pocket. And yesterday I pocket-dialed two people...
Nova has a double tap to sleep function, and greenify used to have a short-cut to the same thing.

I use Gravity Screen Pro. It has a pocket sensor setting, turn screen off/on by proximity, screen on/off by motion, fingerprint unlock, etc.
Either Gravity Screen or KinScreen. I have premium for both but have been using KinScreen for the past few years as it was stable than Gravity Screen, but I haven't used Gravity Screen's latest version either.

So i initially tried using Nova double tap gesture. It would turn the screen off but a second later it would go to the lock screen. Now i use Good Lock by Samsung and i actually like it a lot. In Good Lock go to the the "Family" tab - (no idea why it's called this) and then select One Hand Operation +.... I created a Small Right handle that turns the screen off when i slide it. Works great and i have yet to activate it by accident.

What region are you in? Weird, because it's an official Samsung App... let me know if you can't find it and i can post the apk for you... Also, make sure it's the 1.0.00.46 version, as they just updated it to work with Pie.
I also am desperate for this feature. Tried all of the apps and all of them go to the lock screen for some reason. I contacted a couple of developers but idk if they can do anything. Tried the one hand gestures and it does work but the thing is I still prefer double tap to lock instead of those swipe gestures. I think this feature should be natively supported like on almost every other android phone.

I use Nova for that: ||>>>Gestures & Inputs>Home button>Screen lock(uncheck "only on main home...")
then go to 'Gestures' below, click "Swipe up" and also check "Screen lock" Now, I use 'Full screen gestures" for nav bar already, so that Nova gesture setup is not messing up the nav bar gestures but rather compliments it. Example: I have some app open on the screen and swiping it up(w/o Nova) in the center would bring me to the Home screen(and that is being mimic w/Nova too) then the second 'swipe up' locks the screen. Simple, quick double 'swipe up' from any app does the trick, if you are on the home screen already then you just swipe it up only once.
I also use full screen gestures. The problem is not the gesture. The problem is that I need an app to turn off the screen. There are like a hundred apps that do that. But they all have one of the two problems I said before.
I'll look for the good lock in a bit. I have to find the apk.
"there was a network or server error. Try again later. The mapper function returned a null value"
I'm getting this error when I open good lock. Apparently it's not supposed to be use in Argentina. I'll try Nova launcher now.
