Volume buttons: is they work or not? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I'm on the last global version stable (gen 2019) and sometime when I use volume buttons they don't work. I reboot the phone and then I can use volume buttons. But after a while they stop to work.
Is it a firwmare problem?

After some time, I have realized that I get the issue only when i click on the 'X' icon in recent apps. The volume buttons do not work until a reboot.

Hello, I have the same issue with miui 10.3.0 and redmi note 7 international version. Any solution?

okay so now I know I'm not the only one. has anyone found a solution?

I'm on 10.3.4 PFGEUXM (global) and for now it seems I don't have this issue. Tried to reproduce, but buttons still work. I'll edit this post, if I encounter any button failures.

No problem in MIUI 10.3.5 Global PFGINXM
:good:

PFGMIXM 10.3.6
this is what I have. this is my 3rd xiaomi phone but I haven't been on xda in 14 months. what do the letters mean?

They mean as follow:
P - Android Pie
FG - Redmi Note 7 device
MI - Global ROM(changes for other locations)
XM - MIUI version 10

Thanks, are you guys using Macrodroid?
I had to turn an accessibility setting related to to macrodroid on and off to get the buttons to work again.
I'm still testing right now.

I have been able to reproduce. this happens after I clear recent apps. the volume buttons stop functioning after doing so. can anyone else confirm?

I had the same issue, but I disabled accessibility option and it worked to me.

I'm having this issue as well. I can make it work again by simply opening my settings but like what you said, turning off accessibility options permanently fixed this problem, obviously a bug though.

This bug seems to occur when you click the "X" in recent. This is happens because you force stop the "Settings" app. To solve this bug you first need to open the Settings app, then go back to your homescreen and then you need to go to recent, here you see the apps you used most recent, and the last thing you need to do is lock the Settings app by holding down on the settings app and pressing the lock icon. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!

Last build on mokee is instable. Try the one from August 1th, seems pretty stable.
Did someone knows if Mokee comes for normal Z2 too?
carstenheuer +1) Z2 not PRO will be?
Did anyone try the latest build (2016-08-13 ) and can give some feedback? Any improvements regarding stableness, camera, U-Touch and vibration? I really want to switch to CM but since it's really unstable so far, I will wait for a more stable version!

Unstable? Have you even tried it? The mokee build from 0108 is stable. Every build after that date is bugged and your device will reboot quite often.

This is for ZUK Z2, which is treated as ZUK Z2 "PLUS" in china, for so:
ZUK Z2 = ZUK Z2 PLUS

Hi all, any guide to install it? Is required the unlocked bootloader? I would use this also if 'something' is not working instead of the ZUI for sure.
u need to unlock your bootloader and install twrp to flash this unoffical cm build
Go to Zukfans.eu for nice unlocking/Twrp guides
tried it myself today but it seems like i can't unlock my bootloader. My z2 doesn't get detected in bootloader mode... the trick with the oem id didn't work either...

[How to] Tap to Lock with fingerprint sensor on official MIUI9 [ROOT,WITHOUT ANY APP]

Now you can Lock your Redmi Note 4 with Fingerprint sensor as well.
A simple tap will lock your phone and a long tap will open the power menu.
You don't require a app or a module to do so. You need a root access and little bit of common sense.
Steps-
1. Open Root Explorer.
2. Go to system/usr/keylayout
3. Open Generic.kl with Text Editor.
4. Replace
Code:
key 353 DPAD_CENTER
with
Code:
key 353 POWER
5. That's it! Now you can unlock as well as lock your phone with fingerprint sensor.
For the users on 9.2.2.0 or Developer Rom 8.2.8 and China Stable rom(9.2.1.0)
Follow this-
Do the same as above with files gf3208.kl and uinput-fpc.kl as well (3 files, including the generic.kl) and you have got yourself a FP lock!
Tested on- Redmi Note 4(mido) running Stable MIUI V9.2.1.0.NCFMIEK (MIUI9) and Developer Rom 8.2.8 (MIUI9)

Thanks will be apprecited.
 thank you !! Its working like charm
So, what will happen in Camera app?
When I tap the FP sensor, it will shot or it will lock?

I'm using MIUI App Lock with my fingerprint and also some banking apps like PayPal use fingerprint to authenticate my transaction. What happened if i use this mod? Can i still use my fingerprint scanner as usual i did with App Lock and banking apps?

It doesn't interfere with MIUI App Lock. Regarding PayPal I haven't tried with that, it's least likely it would hinder any of the other functionalities of the phone.

It works great on my RN4x.
I´m wondering if its possible to edit some kind of delay in seconds until the screen turns off? For example....if I keep on holding the fingerprint sensor for two or three seconds the display will turn off instead of turning off immediately.
Greetings

Delay in turning off would be better, I agree. Making it happen would take much more efforts in that case, coz right now we are simply assigning the FP as power button which is already configured in the system and it knows what to do.

But long Press also triggers the Powermenue, there has to be a way to ignore Tap and just react on long press or am I thinking this to easy? Searched the .kl but this has to be somewhere else. Maybe someone has an Idea?

I would appreciate it, if you could put up the steps for the MI Note 5. Gf3208.kl doesn't exist on this model. Modifying the 2 pl files doesn't lock the phone via the fp. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Do not forget to create a backup of your data, using Google Backup by example.
If you want MIUI Dialer (and others things in China ROM) without bloatwares of the China ROM, install Stable or Weekly xiaomi.eu ROM.
You need an unlocked bootloader and install latest Official TWRP version (3.4.0-0).
Then you need to "Format Data" in TWRP (in "Wipe" menu) > Go in "Reboot" menu and select "Recovery" > Put ROM file (zip) in internal storage of the phone via USB and install it. Done! You can reboot your phone and wait a bit during the first boot.
