Looking for an explanation of Cross Flashing results from AT&T to Fi version - LG V35 Questions & Answers

Hi, so I flashed my AT&T V35 to the Google Fi variant since I am in Canada and cannot get any AT&T updates ever.
The flash went over just fine but when I checked my phone's 'about' settings I noticed that the Software Version still says V350AWM10h instead of the Fi variant which is LMV350ULM. The flash process in LGUP said successful so shouldn't the software version on the phone reflect that?
Thanks

Cross-flashing cannot change the HW ID of the device.

So the Security patch level will change but the Software version is tied to the HW ID of the device and will remain as such?

Basically, once you cross-flash, you will not be getting OTA updates for the ULM software. You'd have to manually update your phone. Let's just say that from a bootloader perspective, you still have the AWM device even though you are able to run ULM software.

Thanks for the quick reply and answer. I was gonna have to manually update anyways so it's all part of owning this great phone in Canada.

Interesting. This is completely different from crossflashing the North American LG V30 variants: US998, AT&T H931, Canada H933, Verizon VS996, regional carrier AS998, Sprint LS998.
Cross flashing those completely converts those variants to whatever firmware you are flashing. No, you won't get OTA updates -- but it gives you those bands and also reflects the firmware version, etc in About Phone. Many people cross flash H931 AT&T to carrier unlocked variants and it becomes that phone. Cross flashing to US998 also gives you fastboot flash commands -- but for H931 takes away a couple of the minor AT&T LTE bands while adding others and even adding CDMA bands. About Phone will show you that you have US998 with the correct version firmware you flashed.
So, strange it's different with the V35.

I picked up my new baby 2 days ago. I will not perform any sketchy operations on this brand new G5. Not until there's root and TWRP will I consider anything besides approved, OEM updates - it's way too early for that stuff. It takes 6 months to a year for those things to maure enough for me to be comfortable.

I was hoping to get mine in a week or so.
But the whole Bootloader crab is pushing me to s7 or maybe htc 10.
Just gotta sell my h815 and h812.
Maybe Canadian telcos will drop a few bugs
Im not spending 400$ for a s7 edge on a two year renewal. In Germany there 0 on a two year.
What a ****ed up system canada has.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to flash this using LG up or LG flash tool using download mode. Any suggestions or is it not possible yet.
EDIT
Never mind figured it out that you have to use the VZW software utility to restore the KDZ.

Any idea where to download the VZW software utility? Didn't have luck on VZW site!

Connect your phone to your PC then switch the USB connection type to Software Installation by swiping down on the status bar and selecting the option that says" tap to change USB connection". Once you do that a new CD Drive will pop up in My Computer with an LG logo. Double click that and then run the VZwsoftwareupdate exe. Profit
I see, so having a T-Mobile device will make me not able to use the VZW software to flash the Verizon KDZ on my T-Mobile? Could you maybe share the .exe execution file of the software so that we can give it a try
Thanks

Ahhhhh I should've asked that I guess. Yea not sure how it would work for T-Mobile. I will share the whole folder as soon as I get home.
Here's a complete copy of the folder in its entirety. I think your supposed to use LG bridge with T-Mobile devices unless I'm mistaken. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9so7d5en3a7Wmd3M0dabUNNNFE

Yeah i have been doing some readings, and GSM T-Mobile wont accept the CDMA Verizon KDZ. This will brick the device. I am in square zero now Any idea how to overcome the T-MObile Sim Lock?
As per this video, T-Mobile GSM working on the Sprint device! So would be is possible for the Verizon ROM work on the T-Mobile device ?

The Verizon variant of the LG G5 is factory unlocked per FCC network access requirements for the 700mhz spectrum of LTE. Which is what he is using. A Verizon device. Not a T-Mobile or Sprint device. This Verizon KDZ will only work on Verizon devices. You have to use LG Bridge to restore your phone.
anyone tried to extract the LG G5 kdz file? I can not merge the sysmtem.img file.

Is it safe to update/flash unlocked firmware after unlock?

Just got my phone unlocked and was wondering if I could update or flash the G935U firmware. Don't wanna waste the $10 I spent on it

By a service on ebay.
Was it remote access by USB cable then Factory unlocked? If so then you safe to flash any unlocked 935U. If your not with Sprint or any major US carrier best one to flash is the XAA.

If you go to a U Rom the downside you might lose your band 30 and the carrier aggression. AT&T doesn't have a Unlocked rom. So you would have to use XAA 935U which is a universal American unlocked ROM. AT&T uses band 30 pentrate inside buildings where band 17, 2, 4 and 5 can't get. But that's the only downside being unlocked with AT&T.
But can I update once the Nougat firmware comes out?

If it's the 935U you will be automatically have an update. You probably get that sometime later this month or next month. Since they only do quarterly updates. I think carriers in the US should start seeing Nougat next week. I'm on a Tmobile rom for that reason and to have other features that the unlocked rom doesn't have on it.

Stock is the way to go, faster updates and better modems. I have heard Sprint releasing 3 carrier aggression update yesterday for faster speeds. I don't think it's rolled out yet might be coming with Nougat this month.

Chinese variant vs International Variant

Hey guys, I currently live in China and I have access to both the Chinese version of the One plus 5 and the International version of the phone. Since the Chinese version is a tad bit cheaper than the international version, I am considering the Chinese version. However, I don't know whether I will be able to have google assisstant or install google services manually at all if I purchase the Chinese version. This happened to my Chinese S7. Does anyone know if the Chinese variant is the same as the International variant?
Thanks
hi
i also have the chinese variant you can install google play store using google installer version 2 i tried it and seems to work properly.

Thanks, just one more question. Does google assistant work? Thanks
How do you tell the difference between these 2 models?
There is absolutely no hardware difference between the models. The Chinese model comes with HydrogenOS instead OxygenOS but you can easily change between both since they are both official updates from OnePlus.
OxygenOS is meant for the international market and hence has all the Google stuff pre-installed. No messing around necessary.
To the OP, download the latest OxygenOS from here. Place it in the root of your internal memory. Basically don't put the file in any folder.
Go to Settings > System updates, press the gear icon and select Local upgrade. Choose the file, the phone will boot into recovery and everything is done.
Source: I bought mine in China and am currently running OxygenOS with root.

No. Just do exactly what he said. Download the file, put on phones memory (not in any folder). Go to settings, update, and choose the file. Done.
In fact, your memory is probably still intact after that. It's encourage you then do a factory reset.

My only question is if after flashing with Oxygen OS, will you receive OTA ? In gearbest for example it says that the equipment does not have OTA, after I flash it with the latest version will it ?
Thx in advance.

Yes, I am sure. Updates come from OnePlus directly.
Do people not believe us when we say there are no difference, you can flash OOS easily, and updates work fine?! I have a Chinese version running OOS on T-Mobile! All stcok, no unlocked bootloader, etc. OTA works fine. OnePlus even said I could get warranty coverage here in the US.

Calm down just verifying. Most devices require carriers to push the OTA. I manually download and push the updates myself instead of waiting.

Yes he's right, the only phones that require the carrier to push the ota's are devices that are carrier locked which happens a lot in the US, idk about China but here in The Netherlands pretty much every phone is unlocked no matter how you buy it with a few exceptions. OnePlus phones are always unlocked and the only official carrier that sells it is O2 in the UK which I believe is still the same model, either way you'll still recieve the ota's.

Thanks for a thought out response instead of being an ass like he was. I hadn't looked at the coding for the OTA app to see it's download source, I just deleted it so I wouldn't lose root accidentally.

I always use the OTA app to update my phone, it always takes a bit of time for the full zip update to appear on OnePlus or XDA. The OTA app detects root and when it does it will tell you it's gonna download the full zip in the .OTA folder. Then so just flash it via twrp alongside magisk and some other mods.
if it's possible to instale oxygenOS and there is no hardware difference between the two versions then it's ok

LG H820 i didn't recive Nougat update.

Hi Everyone,
I just buy and unlocked LG G5 H820 At&t mobile, its on marshmellow, how can i get update to nougat?
When i try to update it says phone already on latest version, I tried LG Bridge too but no Luck.
Thanks

Because update available only for AT&T users (AT&T sim card must be in phone) and in USA))) LG Bridge doesnt support H820) only OTA updates)
AT&T sucks)) many thanks for this surprise)) no one can update it H820 in another country. And no KDZ\TOT files for H820 yet
I got a go phone sim for a few dollars and set it up. Didn't put any money on it. Then chatted with att help. They needed a little info from the phone. She pushed all the updates I was missing, including N and the latest security updates. I did this just a few days ago. I then swapped my sim back out for my cricket sim.

Hi. What do you things about this. Turn on airplane mode and then turn on wifi with vpn located in usa. Then phone is thinking that it's in usa. This doesn't work. But maybe it's good beginning. We have to do more(maybe change some registry)

S10+ Unlocked from AT&T - will it update?

So, I live out of the US and I don't have an AT&T SIM. I bought an S10+ which is (I assume) unlocked from AT&T, so my SIM is working. Out of the box it updated to g975usqs1asd9. I've read on an AT&T support page that the device must be on AT&T network to update.
Now I'm slightly worried, will I receive more updates in the future because I will not be in the US that often and on AT&T. How did it receive this one?
Is there a way to continue OTA updates in the future with the stock ROM?
You can flash through odin. Unless things have changed, I've never had an (non-iphone)ATT phone update OTA when on another network.

Ok, so that means I should just monitor when new versions show up and then flash them manually. No big deal, I guess . I've done this before, but I was never in this kind of situation.
