Are you talking about unlocked exynos version vs snapdragon unlocked version ? If it's snapdragon unlocked if you flash any carrier firmware and install ur sim it'll change itself but if you flash unlocked firmware it'll just boot like a normal unlocked variant. That's from my experience on note 8-9. When it comes to exynos version I don't think that's an option I have a s10 plus exynos on T-Mobile and have no issues why are you trying to get it to boot with branded bootlogo ?

It installs the carrier firmware of whichever carriers sim card you put in the phone, it's just that the boot logo doesn't change.

My experience :
I unlocked my device from a website ( simunlock - 18$ ) and placed a european carrier sim card. Everything worked , the phone worked as described.
Then i decided to remove AT&T software and instal the U version , didnt want to use all the bloatware and carrier specific stuff. When i place my sim card to the new U phone i think my phone locked to the new carrier. Will try tonight with a different sim card and will write back.
My thoughts after all are that if we instal U firmware on AT&T Phone i think that will unlock the phone and then lock it to the new carrier
After all this all might be just nonsence , so i'll test it tonight.
Out of the box setup:
Insert the SIM card before you set up the customer’s device for the first time.
Samsung Galaxy S7 edge | S7 locks to the carrier of the first SIM that is inserted by resetting and installing carrier software. If you set up the device and then insert the SIM you will have to set up the device again.

My phone was paid in the full the day I bought it. Called AT&T and they unlocked it for free since I own it free and clear.

I believe the unlock is tied to the imei number. Not sure. It should be unlocked permanently no matter what fw is on it.
For my own clarification you're talking about carrier unlocking and not unlocking the boot loader right?

Flashing international Firmware

Hello everyone,
yesterday, a family member gifted me an s7 from the USA (SM-G930P). He bought the phone off SPRINT as a SPRINT unlocked version, and, of course, because I live in Europe and want to use the phone with a European SIM card I have the "hands free activation" mark that is sitting on the top left edge of the display. I also noticed some changes, for example the "mobile data" toggle is nowhere to be found and also I don't have the options to choose the network mode (2G/3G/4G). I love the phone and I also would like to keep using it, I only need some answers from you guys.
My first question is, if the phone will actually let me use 4G network with my European SIM card, or will I be limited to 3G?
My second question is, If I can flash an international firmware for another carrier and another country on the phone, and if so, will I have the advantages of that firmware, like the Mobile Data Toggle??
Thank you very much for your answers.
If you install the 'Network' app you might be able to change the network type.
In general you should be able to use an unlocked P variant with a foreign SIM but you may have to activate with a Sprint SIM first.
You can't flash the international version since it's Exynos and the P version is Qualcomm CPU.
I am not sure if this model has Samsung region lock which is another thing to consider.
If I was you I would try to flash the U firmware (US unlocked) as it has the most support for international 4G bands among the Qualcomm US models. It also doesn't have all of the Sprint bloatware on it.

Thank you for your reply. I am currently using the European Sim from my carrier and I have no problems with it. I managed to get rid of the Bloatware by using Package Disabler Pro, but it still sits there somewhere on my phone. So far, the phone is working very well and other than the bloat sitting on my memory and the lack of LTE, I have no complaints.
Can you tell me if someone has tried to flash the U firmware on a P model with success?

Could you tell me how you did it, or link me a guide??
I had bought an unlocked Sprint galaxy S7 (930P) off ebay which died on me. Got it repaired from the service center and they sent me a locked device instead. The phone is currently on Software Version - G930PVPS4BQC1 and the hardware revision is Rev 0.6. I'll be using the phone in India and have a few questions.
1. I need to get this SIM unlocked from a service online. Does anyone know of a reliable place to do so?
2. If I flash the U Rom on it after unlocking it, will I lose the unlock? (I don't mind downgrading from Nougat to Marshmallow)
3. Should I unlock first then flash the ROM or flash the ROM first and then try to get it unlocked?
4. Will flashing the ROM directly unlock the phone itself?
Please advise.
...
you could try gsm zambia to unlock your phone it works i tried it myself a few days ago, also after my phone got unlocked i flash the U firmware/rom and the unlocked remained. so you should unlock your device first then flash the U firmware :good:
PS. if you one nougat better to downgrade if you can do marshmallow so when you wont have any issues flashing to U firmware. :cool

Samsung Pay Australia

Hello fellow S8 users,
I've recently purchased a Samsung S8 SM-G950FD from eBay as I wanted the Dual SIM capability. Version image attached, I'm not entirely sure where it's from.
Unfortunately the Samsung Pay version on the phone is in Chinese as are the promotion, images attached.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to get the Australian version on Samsung Pay on this phone?
Can I just update the ROM to an Australian version? If so, would I end up losing the Dual SIM capability?
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Any suggestions?

Your Australia cards should work as Australia already have support for Samsung Pay. I have setup few of my Indian cards with Australian version phone. I guess you need to bear with the Chinese though. Updating XSA room will definitely disable the Dual sim option and I am not sure 950FD support 950F.

Yeh the Samsung Pay Application doesn't like my American Express Card....
It states that Amex is not supported in my country, but in fact it's working on my Samsung S6, and my Gear 3.
So you think changing the firmware to AU I would lose the Dual SIM capabilities?
It might just be easier to try and get the Samsung Pay and Samsung Pay Framework from AU ROM and extract it to mine maybe?
If it's anything like the S7, you should be fine putting the Australian firmware on it. I got an S7 edge from the UAE and had to flash German firmware and the T-Mobile CSC to it for spay to finally work. It'll be trail and error, but the multi sim function never went away for me.
Since almost all the international S8/S8+s are on the multi CSC ROM, all you need to do is reset your phone (preferably from the recovery menu) and put in the Oz SIM and reboot. All the regional features are activated, and you get Oz SPAY.
Using that method, I am currently using the India SPAY on an Afghanistan S8+ (Dual sim) and Taiwanese S8 and both work with all cards.

I've actually tried to restore to factory setting 6+ times with an assortment of sim cards from Vodafone, Optus, Telstra, Macquarie (Telstra variant), samsung pay keeps loading up as Taiwanese version (Chinese)...
I've recently asked a friend to extract his Samsung Pay & Framework.apk, it still loads Taiwan Samsung pay.
I think it's region locked?
I'm going to try and restore to XSA Firmware, apparently this worked for the S7 guys, whilst retaining Dual Sim functions.

Did you try to factory reset from recovery? Vol up + Bixby + power, wait for few seconds it goes into recovery. Put the regional SIM in, then reboot. It will reboot twice and activate SIM specific features (prominently tells you that it's doing so).
Also please post a screenshot of the Settings->Software information screen (Service provide SW ver. is 2nd last row) both before and after you complete the process.
Someone recommended me this solution after I had a similar problem with my UAE S8 and flashing other country firmware no longer works without supporting SIM card. Download Samsung Pay version 2.7.03 and try that.

Means that it doesn't matter which firmware you flash if you don't have the country's sim card because s8 will default back to factory CSC. Only way to change CSC without root is to flash with the supporting sim card installed.

Just came across this post. Wondering if the same method works with the dual sim version of S7 (G930FD)?
Thanks.

Has anyone here got the Australian Samsung Pay app onto the Taiwanese dual-sim model? I purchased an S8+ at $799 (compared to the RRP of $1349) but I don't want to factory reset if I don't have to.
Anyone got spay working? Pkease share what firmware version are you using.

Oreo update on unlocked ATT S8 with T-Mobile sim

I have an unlocked S8 and I have not got the Oreo update Every time I go to check, it says your software is up to date. Is it because I am using a T-Mobile SIM? If yes, do I need to use ATT sim to get the update?

Yes you need an AT&T sim. Otherwise you will not receive ota updates.
Try it now
When I unlocked my AT&T S8, and stuck in a MetroPCS Sim, MetroPCS updated the phone to Oreo. This also results in the boot logo changing to MetroPCS which I think is unfortunate. And it installed a couple of Metro PCS apps including the voicemail app. This was all interesting since this means a carrier will update an OS on a phone that was originally sold for a different carrier. Seems that could run into problems but maybe not.
Did you figure it out?

I have an AT&T unlocked S8 Active with a t-mobile sim. I tried using an old AT&T sim with no plan, but it did not work. Do I need a sim with a plan to do the stupid update?
Take it to a Samsung Experience in a Large Best Buy and get them to Update it.

Is there any way to manually update it to the latest version? Caz I am stuck on Android 7.0 as well, it won't update.

How long after putting in your metropcs sim did the phone update? I just unlocked an att s8 active today registered on my metropcs account but as of this moment it says it is up to date when it is clearly not.
Thank you

VoLTE in the US on the International version (McLaren) (T-Mobile)

I was wondering if VoLTE works on the international version of the McLaren edition in the US. I need the dual SIM model and as far as I'm aware (I asked an associate, actually), the T-Mobile version does not have a second SIM slot.

Theoretically, if it's anything like the 6t all you need is a oem dual SIM tray off eBay

There's a bit of process getting that to work, assuming there really is a hidden second SIM slot. Considering how new the phone is, I'd rather not risk bricking the phone trying to change the ROM to get the option of a second SIM slot to appear.
Thanks for the reply, though.
You can use a 2nd sim tray once you root & flash international firmware but the IMEI will be the same on both.

When I unlocked & rooted the 7 pro TMO version both IMEIs were the same. I'm assuming the same with 7t McLaren. But I'll know soon enough, I've requested unlock.
