What means CN ROM? question before order pro version - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hey,
i basically bought a note 7 a week ago for my mum
but i want to order now from aliexpress note 7 pro:
https://he.aliexpress.com/item/Xiao..._expid=96a817f6-9df2-4636-b5c1-69c9b4e19d17-2
And in the information i see:
CN ROM
What are the effects of such rom?
1. My own language will not appear to select for the menus?
2. for keyboard i can still download my own language?
3. CN ROM Supports English menus?
4. India version is CN ROM?

CN ROM is basically the Chinese ROM. That means that 1. You only have two languages available, English and Chinese, and 2. You don't have the Play Store installed, meaning that you have to install it. Once the Play Store is installed, is a perfectly usable ROM.
Also, I think that the language of the keyboard shouldn't be a problem, and even if it doesn't let you change it, you can always download another one from the Play Store.

I personally didnt like the Chinese rom. So many Chinese characters here and there. If u are giving someone that isnt versed in android and just wants basic functionality, I wud suggest getting the global version or unlocking it and installing the xiaomi.eu rom which I did for a cn version that I got for my bro

And keep in mind that chinese versions usually lack some 4g frequencies that your carrier might use

Chinese ROM : BIG WEIRD PROBLEM !?

Hi guys, I have just flashed the Chinese ROM to my o2 exec, it works fine and all, but the only thing I don't understand is that I cannot install and successfully run any pragrams from the memory card, in order for it to run I have to install to the actual PPC. Also if I go into file explorer the layout is different to that of the english ROMS as I cannot go into windows/startmenu/programs and manually put shortcuts in from the memory card therefore no need to install on ppc. I love the Chinese ROM and have finally got round to flashing it, but if I have to install everything on the ppc then I think I will have to flash back to English ROM as I use alot of programs.
Can anyone help me at all? I really want to use the Chinese ROM but I must be able to use it like the english ROMS.
PLEASE HELP
surely someone?
Which version of Chinese ROM is it? I must say that the Chinese ROM doesn't seem to be as reliable as the English versions, which is why I had gone back to the JasJar WWE ROM with Monster Chinese installed.
there is only one available on this site/buzz site
That's the one I used as well.
There is a newer version from the official website:
http://www.dopodasia.com/download/UNI_DOP_OP_130108_130219_11100_CHT_Ship.exe
Updated 19/5/2006
I haven't tried it though so good luck with it!
I might even upload this version onto Buzz's site.
good thanks for that !
I'm determined to get a working Chinese ROM so I am downloading it now and gonna try it, even though it is 4am in the morning and I am knackered after a 10hour shift lol !
The main thing I like about the Chinese rom is the hand writing recognition is much better than the 3rd party ones u can put on the english roms.
Agree. The hand-writing recognition is pretty cool, but I prefer typing in English when I'm in a hurry. Also, whenever I wanted to type in English, I had to select "English" on the on-screen keyboard, otherwise it start typing in phonic Chinese. Very annoying, so I gave up.
OK all sorted and working perfect and totally stable, I downloaded and installed the new ROM but it done exactly the same and did not run programs from memory card, after alot of frustration I finally sorted it, I also had to modify the ROM before I could flash it on to it as it kept on coming up ID error.
Anyway all working now apart from using the Chinese ROM no-matter what I do I cannot get my MMS inbox back up, I have installed the o2 cab file that I normally use on the english ROMs to get the MMS back, but it don't seem to work on the Chinese ROM.
Any ideas?
That's all I need now to make it PERFECT
About the ID error (country ID error?):
There is a ROM upgrade tool made specifically for country ID error messages: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Instructions for those with Country Code error
I'm afraid I can't help with the MMS problem. Maybe you haven't set up the GPRS properly.

[Q] Changing language from Chinese Traditional --> English

Hey, sorry if this has already been posted on how to change language, but i have some specific questions i would like to ask.
1) I bought the Touch HD from Taiwan and the language of it is Traditional chinese, i was actually thinking that it was an international phone and would have several languages to choose from... but apparently not.
How would i go about changing the language from chinese to english?
What would i have to do?
2) If i change the language, do i lose everything that is currently on my phone?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
You could just flash a new Rom, it will change the phone to that Rom and replace what you currently have, a lot of Roms have the same stuff just tweaked for better performance so you would not lose much.
That is assuming your not on a phone carrier plan of course, check out the different roms to suit what you want
This phone was bought outright so im assuming im not carrier locked (Kinda hard seeing as im in australia and it was bought in taiwan )
So i would have to use HardSPL?
There are two options to do it there are excellant directions for both in the ROM section I used HardSPL but the choice is yours

[Q] Change to EU/US System on a Chinese Iconia

Hello All,
I'm a German living in China and totally addicted to this android stuff. So yesterday I bought me a Iconia. I just can say i love it after playing around a while. But there is one thing that is completely unacceptable. The Chinese version lacks all the google tools like gmail, maps, latitude and so on. I'm actually not so much interested in all these games and movies, im more the productive guy.
So here comes the question, after reading all the threads about custom boot roms I wonder whether it is possible just to dd the EU/US system.img to my device - according to the informations of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101759
Could it really be so easy or do i have to take care about other things like versions or other stuff?
Every hint will be appreciated!
It won't be easy first
And...you can brick your tab
I think the safest way is to flashfor the next update a European firmware... so if it says "update avaible" search for the same version but the EU version (here on the forum)

Yes it can be done and it really isn't that hard if you follow the instructions in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101859
I went to a Chinese firmware and then did the US firmware following these instructions. Just one small point, make sure you have a class 4 MicroSD card before you start.
There are no problems with you doing it on your Chinese machine and it will give you the outcome you are after by providing the International apps that are on the American unit (or in my case the Australian).
Try this link.

Looks like it might be what you need. Applied it over Chinese rom and then upgraded to US stock.

Hello Guys,
I bought Iconia in China with
Build Number: Acer_A500_1.135.02_AAP_CUS4
Bad Thing: No Market, no Maps, no Latitude, no Gmail, chinese everywhere even after switching the Pad to English.
I followed the instructions in the link from Trinity - everything went smooth.
Result: Mix of chinese, but I had market and all the goodies
Then i did a factory reset.
Result: A clean fresh american rom. Includes the languages english, german, spanish, italian, french, chinese simpl., chinese traditional.
Thanks to everyone contributed to this solution!

Mi watch global custom rom

Could someone find a way to put wear os on mi watch global?? The base software isn't useful/can't install my own apps
Its not possible unfortunately. Even if someone did find a way, the actual SoC is pretty weak and it doesn't have enough ram to run wearos even in theory.
if it may interest you after some research I saw that the Chinese version of the watch allowed the installation of the application and I also found a tutorial to switch from a global version to a Chinese version then another tutorial to add gapps on it with a little bit of file manipulation
I have not tested yet because I receive the watch in a few days

[MOD] Convert your Chinese Wear OS to Global Wear OS

I also forgot to specify that the majority of xiaomi products offer the English language on the Chinese version so there will only be the configuration which will be complicated once this step is over you will be easy I don't think I'm too wrong in saying that.

honestly I can't tell you because I made the choice not to do it on my watch. you should know that when you make changes it's a risk to take. After doing some research I think you can find it. I couldn't find any, but I only did a search or two. and I think you will find answers more easily than me because you are English. I am French, so the content of help sites on this kind of subject is less well provided for me
