I thought you could use the main camera as the video camera, at least when a new dialler comes out anyway?
Yea, this is the most disipointing act from HTC. Its like removing the ability to sms

I think there's a MASSIVE difference between sending SMS and video calling. The majority of people on this forum, before the HD2 came out, had agreed that it was a bit strange, but they could live without it. The majority of people also admitted that they'd only ever used video calling once or twice, and that was just to play with it.
I think you may have exaggerated slightly!
Oh.. and wait for the obvious childish post of "They did remove the ability to sms"
If you are running android you can download Tango and video chat using main camera. you just need a mirror.

This works. i tested it earlier

Did FroYo repair the "no record calls" bug

As many of you know, it wasn't possible to record calls with the 2.0 and 2.1 android versions. Can someone test whether the feature is supported in the new firmware?
Thanks.

Test? How? Wouldn't you need a recorder app that was specifically coded to use the phone audio stream? If there was such an app and it didn't work for some reason in earlier versions, let me know and I'll be happy to give it a shot under Froyo, as that's functionality I'd like to have, too.

There are apps available in the store, for example "total recall". would be really grateful if u can check that one up, it'll be a decider for me about getting a n1.
Thanks

Total recall doesn't work on anything 2.0+ like Nexus One.
It's in the app description itself.
Looking for alternatives..

[Q] HTC youtube don't play some videos

Hi
Sorry about my english, Some videos on the youtube app that came with energy rom play the videos but sometimes don't play sound and must set quallity to fast download to correct that. Any way to fix this?
thanks
Wish I could help but videos aren't even able to connect for me anymore. It's been like this for about 2 weeks now. Any suggestions?
Most of the time it's due to the channel's settings, there they can set up if their channel can or can't be viewed through mobile devices.

The codec in HTC's Youtube app does not support all high quality videos. Some of them work, but it seems that most new videos are unsupported. This is not able to be fixed by the community as far as I know. The solution would be a new Youtube client. You will have to live with the fast download option as we all do, or move to another, more supported platform. Sorry to disappoint you.

Pretty much anything but Windows Mobile. Android, Windows Phone 7, and Blackberry all have fully functional YouTube apps.
The ROM chef can fix it. So complain in your respective custom ROM thread.

I don't mean to be skeptical, but I doubt ROM chefs can just create new codecs out of the blue. Do you have proof of this claim, or a link to somewhere that has an updated audio codec for Youtube?
It's dificult to me understand that the problem is the OS instead of a codec or an upgrade of the app. and since soreplayer doesn't work in my TP2 . . .

Coreplayer still relies on the built-in codecs. It doesn't play HQ videos either. The problem is not the OS. It is the lack of proper codecs, as mentioned before.
lol, I was just trying to figure out why youtube wasn't working in my ROM anymore. Glad I found this thread before wasting more time.
It can be fixed, I have done so in my rom, will more then likely release fix to cooks here sometime this week.....

For my ROM, it turned out to be the dshow package. I needed to use a newer version (from leo or oboe) and a couple of modues from the dshow package from a rhodium shipped rom.

[DONATION] Donation towards fully working skype video calls

Hi,
I would like to start a donation pool towards a fully working Skype video calling.
I will be the first to donate.
I would like to see it on the ICS (Alpha2) or its off spring.
Good luck,
Developers : please post your interest here, and how you want to proceed
Users: please make your pledges here
thanks

Might be a tough bill to fill as there isnt even a video app available for WebOS. Maybe they just never got around to it, or the hardware just doesnt support it. Even though it was an advertised feature

That or its just more of HP's famous false advertising...you decide.
After searching a bit, looks like it was the same as it was with the Palm Pixi, an advertised feature that didnt exist at launch, but was later introduced in an OS update. I believe WebOS v3.04 gave support for Camera and Video Recording, Making Skype video calls possible. So it is certainty hardware capable. Id imagine as soon as any other ICS ROM gets a working camera, this one will be soon to follow.

I am not a big fan of bounty threads and will close this thread down if people start asking for any money to work on this.
However, if people would like to pledge money that they pledge to donate to a developer after the work is done...so be it.
Just don't start sending donations until you see the goal realized and send your donation directly to the developer. No middlemen or THREAD CLOSED.
OF COURSE XDA has nothing to do with these pledges, and will do nothing to ensure they paid...so user beware.

I've done video calls using my touchpad multiple times using the "Phone and Video Calls" application. You can add your Skype account on there as well.

I dont know what jhayton is talking about but you can certainly make video calls in webOS.
Im sure any progress towards using all of the touchpads capabilities on android are appreciated.

Camera is not working in Android is because of Driver issue...its works great in Webos for taking pictures and skype calling...Cm team is already working on the fix...so is other teams....

As far as i know, there are no unlimited mods for Note 3. There are only patches removing 5min recording. Because recording framework (including native .so libraries) uses 32bit byte counter, there is hard-limit of file size - 4GB, which is approximately 12min of 4K video recording. And it's impossible to patch.
also this is not the proper place to make a thread like this,, please read xda rules

He made false assumption about UNLIMITED 4K recording mods on Note 3. There is NO such mods (although some people call it "unlimited"). So, it's unclear what he wants actually.
He needs to re-phrase his question if he want proper answer/mod.

Why is this impossible to patch? If you can have files that are over 4gb why not be able to record I error 4gb

because 32bit counter can hold up to 4gb length. For bigger sizes you need 64bit variables. It requires source code patches for many libraries used in media recording framework. Only Samsung can do this.
I'd love to have this too, or as least 10 minutes.
