Samsung Cloud On Verizon Device? - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I was wondering if anyone was able to get Samsung Cloud to work instead of the preloaded verizon cloud. The old trick that I used to do on the S8+ was to install the apk and then use Quick Shortcut Maker app from the playstore to open it. That doesn't seem to work this time around, any ideas? Also had the same question regarding the inbuilt caller ID which verizon replaced with their own, if anyone has messed with it at all.
P.S.- Not trying to flash the unlocked firmware either as that will probably screw with with VoLTE and Wifi Calling

Quick Shortcut Maker still works to access Samsung Cloud on Verizon models as I've been able to do it that way. I also flashed the unlocked version of the firmware and have VoLTE and WiFi calling. Only thing I lost is VVM and video calling which I don't use anyways.

Okay cool, do you have the link to the unlocked version of the firmware for snapdragon?

Sure, you can either download SamFirm and let it download it for you or go here:

In the OP there is a portion called U1 Unbranded Firmware hosted on AFH.

Easiest thing to do is use Nova launcher. From your home screen, hold to add a widget. Find Nova launcher in the list of widgets and select the Nova activities widget, scroll down to "Samsung account storage" and select the drop-down. From there scroll down to "Samsung Cloud.app.ui.SCloudActivity" and select it. From there you can open it up and there is an option in the settings to add it to your app screen.
Screenshots attached for reference. I have Verizon and it worked for me.

Hey thanks, I looked for the string "Samsung Cloud.app.ui.SCloudActivity" in QuickShortcutMaker and added it through there instead, works perfectly.
Any luck on getting Caller ID enabled without flashing U1 firmware?

Any updates on this method for latest firmware with one ui 2.0? app wont open from shortcut, i can open it through shortcut maker, chose my backup to recover from but it does nothing. when i chose another shortcut it says the app crashed. i didnt have this problem before this new update. didnt even have to use the shortcut maker, i could access it through samsung app.

If you are using unlocked firmware than Samsung cloud isn't a problem. It might need to be installed or updated but no shortcutmaker needed. It's the Verizon firmware that wont let it work.

Sorry to resurrect the dead with this one, but has anyone found a solution yet? I have the Samsung cloud app but it says that it isn't compatible with my device. I have a z flip 4. Originally on T-mobile, then I moved it to Verizon and had to do a warranty exchange.

[Q] Help with Golden Eye Rom

I am a total newbie, so please bear with me. I had never heard of rooting a phone until I got the Galaxy S4 i337. I saw that the Golden Eye was good for starters, so that is what I put on my phone. I followed directions to the letter and it worked perfectly!!! So thanks for that. Anyway, now that I have it rooted, I noticed a couple things that don't work. The screen mirroring is one of them. I have a friend with an unrooted S4 Active that can see me on the network (I was sitting right next to him) but when he tried to connect, it failed. He also could mirror his phone to the TV. When I pull up screen mirroring, it says that there are no devices to connect to. I didn't know if that was right with this rom, or maybe a setting I haven't found yet. I also have the active apps widget and Greenify to let me know what apps are running, but when I go into the ram manager and hit clear memory, it tells me anywhere from 20-35 apps were killed, and this is when I am not even using the phone. I can do it again 10 minutes later and it says it still killed a bunch of apps. I thought rooting my phone was supposed to help with that, no? And if not, what would you recommend for an app to help. Maybe a different rom would be better? My concern has been with the battery not lasting very long. Thanks!!!

Goldeneye is a very good rom for beginners & vets alike. I would recommend it to anyone as far as that goes. But to answer your question you would need to install the addons called Samsung crap pack in the addon section in op. He took out those apk's because a lot of people prefer not to have all those features for whatever reasons so he just added a flashable zip in the addons for those that do.
Now as far as apps running in the background you would need apps like greenify or titanium backup to freeze those apps that u don't want running in background. Or if there are apps that you simply don't even want you can just delete them with tb or app called Nobloat in play store. Just an FYI, I would freeze them first for a little while to make sure they don't interfere or cause issues with rom. Also can do the same with the CP zip after install use nobloat to delete extra Samsung apks you don't want or use.
Hope this helps you out man & Great choice for a rom btw, you will be pleased with it

Thanks!!! I didn't know the screen mirroring was a Samsung app since it was still on my phone.
I have Greenify, but it only allows me to hibernate a few apps. I have done that to all of the ones allowed and still get 20-30 apps killed when I hit the clear memory on the other app. I will try the other one you mentioned and see if that works better. Again, thanks!!!! I have been enjoying the Golden Eye so far!

GoldenEye is a GREAT ROM, and yes you need the Samsung Crappack addons for some features to work. I also recommend Titanium Backup Pro; its worth the dough. Below is a full list of services you can safely freeze (originally from UCUAMDL AT&T firmware, but many services are still in Goldeneye), anything Samsung is in the Crappack. Just freeze whatever you dont use.
Great choice again.

Get Galaxy Gear working with the HTC M8

Hey Guys,
After some frustration, I can confirm that this method works for connecting the original Galaxy Gear with the HTC One (M8) no problem since it's running Bluetooth 4.0 LE, obviously with the Samsung apps limitations.
1. Download Gear Manager 1.6.111801 (com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.6.111801.apk) (if you are on a page with a whole list of apks, don't lose it!)
2. Change extension from .apk to .zip
3. Transfer to your phone
(3.33 Make sure you have a file manager on your phone. I like Astro if you don't have one already)
(3.67 Make sure you have allowed installing from)
4. Open com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.6.111801.zip
5. Navigate to assets>preInstallApks and install all the APK (there's something like 16 of them)
6. Navigate back to the original folder and rename com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.6.111801.zip to com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.6.111801.apk
7. Install com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.6.111801.apk
8. Download Gear Manager 1.7.031004 and put it on the phone (com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.7.031004.apk)
9. Run com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager_1.7.031004.apk
10. If your watch is brand new, you're going to have to update it to the newest software: google it.
11. At this point if your watch is on, your phone should start searching for it, and maybe find it. I rebooted my phone once while it was trying to connect and when I opened up Gear Manager, it requested a sync and boom, synced.
Hopefully this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
Weather doesn't work as well as s-voice, obviously, nor does the media controller, but the dialer, find my phone, contacts, camera and photo transfer I can confirm are working.
Edit: after a couple of different ideas, I still can't get notifications working on the stock software. If anyone set up a rommed watch, let me know if you have notifications.
I've tried ATN Manager v1.2.3 for the notifications and it's been a success (I can't read the actual message but the notification is sent to the gear)
Just make sure you go into settings > security > notification access > make sure ATN Manager is check marked

so i setup my M8 phone just like described in the op, my watch has the latest firmware, i try to sync and it pairs it and then tries to connect but it wont connect. I read some other forums that said you need gear manager stub in /system/app. Is that true? anyone have it? Also when I first launch the software it wants to update a gear manager plugin 1 and something else. Am i suppose to let these update? I am not sure how to get around them. Any help would be great. Thanks guys. Would really love this to work.
Thanks for this timely thread. I just got my M8 and an eager to connect it to my Gear. Can you please tell me how I can get the gear manager apks you mentioned? My S4 had already been sold.
Gear fit works with M8
http://9to5google.com/2014/04/12/how-to-use-samsungs-gear-fit-smartwatch-with-other-android-devices/
We have also learned that an initial update of the Gear Fit may be necessary to get this method working. This Gear Fit must be updated with a compatible Samsung device or the Gear Manager app could have trouble connecting with it during the setup process on an unsupported device.

Thanks to this thread I wanted to give it a shot.
I have a Gear 2 Neo and got it working with my M8 in pretty simple way.
Gear Manger .apk the latest from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593066
Install the .apk and run through the setup. It will install a bunch of apks and ask to reset the Gear 2 Neo, but for me its all working great.
I did go into settings on the Gear 2 and check for the watch to be bluetooth visible. Other than that it was a snap.
I have an Factory Unlocked M8 on Att.
Will this work with the Galaxy Gear?? Not the Gear 2, the 2013 version. Was really hoping to get the notifications etc working on my m8 and gear watch. HELP!!
Hopefully this will work. Might have to give it a go with a demo gear at work before purchasing. Thanks for the great guide, and I'll be back if it does/doesn't work for me
Having trouble getting this to work. Will try again later

Is this topic dead? The Gear Manager in the M8 works as in the Samsung? No bugs at all? I don't want to buy a Samsung just because of Galaxy Gear. Now I have a Sony SmartWatch 2 and it works as a charm with my M8... Why Samsung doesn't make the Gear for everyone?!
Any more news or reports from anyone doing this?

LG V20 T-Mobile Bloatware Removal

Anyone else having issues disabling the pre-installed T-Mobile apps? The disable button is greyed out when I go into "app manager" then when I connect to the DeBloatware program it tells me my device is Blocked. No applications actually show up on the app list either in DeBloatware (besides one - T-mobile auto start program). I unlocked my bootloader thinking it may help but it did nothing for this venture. Coming from the N6P I'm really not liking the fact that I just paid as much as I did for a phone that has T-mobile all over it... Even the start up screen pisses me off.

You went into the "app manager" to do so correct? I don't get why it's greyed out for me... I have never had the problems I'm having with this phone on any other Android device when it comes to disabling or uninstalling carrier apps...
This is what I'm seeing when I go into app info for the bloatware...

Even though the process might be different from different launchers wouldn't the result be the same? I'm using the Google Now launcher & would think that it would allow me to disable the T-mobile app regardless of launcher app... or am I completely wrong?
If you can't disable the app, kill its permissions. It does pretty much the same thing. That's how I got T-Mobile apps to stop using the battery.

I was wrong, the Tmobile app is the only one I couldn't get off the phone.
I know with Samsung I could use package disabler pro and was able to end the process and get it frozen
What I did is diable all permissions, revoke background data from the app, cleared cached and uninstalled all updates. Then don't open that app again and turn off autp update in the play store

Copy that... I want to be able to just disable the bloat like I should be able to, considering Android is open source & should be able to be customized. I purposely don't buy Applesauce phones because I like being able to tweak everything to my liking... What happened to the Android I fell in love with???
Has anybody on the T-Mobile LG V20 tried connecting their device to the DeBloater program? I'm curious if anyone else is getting the "Your device does not allow blocking" notification when connecting your phone...
Follwing.

Have you tried SD Maid Pro yet? I used that on my Sprint variant and was able to disable anything I wanted. Be advised, some of the apps are integrated into other apps within framework and could cause issues with apps you want to use still.

Missing stock email app.

I am on Sprint (LG-LS997). I noticed that it is missing at least the stock email app (not Gmail app).
Does anybody know why? How can I get it?
Anyone? I'm missing it too please.
Sprint for whatever reason is trying to shift to an all Google platform for this device. I am using Bluemail app which is working nicely.

Has any dev successfully ported over an Android (non-gmail) email app from another carrier version of V20?
looking for that as well
Some LG stock apps can be downloaded (as an .apk file) and recompiled with an app called APK Editor on the Play Store, but it's kind of hit and miss as to what works. I honestly think we should make a sticky in one of the forums with links to the downloads to each of these because of how often people (myself included) ask for them.
I can tell you that on a non-rooted LS997, you can get Calculator, Music and Music Widget, Gallery and Email to work. Unless you want to use an Exchange account with it, then you're SOL. The Exchange counterpart is a separate apk that for some reason doesn't work.
Everything else you need root, and even then it's sketchy on the LS997. It would be nice if the dev on the WETA rom would get an LS997 version running because that rom has ALL of the LG apps AND they work. You can install the US996 version, but I could not get the cellular data to work on mine.

Yes, there does appear to be something missing, but that's beyond my expertise. If you do find something, please share! I'd like to see ALL of the stock apps made available to Sprint (and AT&T) users since we got the shaft.

Samsung Cloud w/Nougat?

Noticed after installing Nougat on my Verizon S7 Edge that the files listed for the Note 7 workaround are now available. Only problem is, using quick shortcut maker doesn't seem to work as it had with Note 7. Makes the shortcuts fine, but obviously they don't work.
Also checked sammobile for the cloud apk file. was from 3 months ago, downloaded and tried to install. Upon doing that, phone said it was an update to my current program. Then said it could not install. Which leads me to believe we have the correct files, but Verizon still has it locked down?!?!
So my question is, has anyone found a workaround yet? Or does this mean that Verizon is "considering" giving us Samsung Cloud finally?
Verizon removed it completely.
Thanks for the quick response. I was just surprised to see all the files available to use the shortcut maker on. Guess I was kinda hoping that Verizon would finally step up and give us Samsung Cloud. Oh well.
Verizon will never allow for a service like that, because they don't make extra money off it.
I'm still surprised that they haven't figured out a way to prevent Google Maps from working on their network as well, so they can force everybody to use the for-pay VZ Navigator.

That she would be my last day with Verizon and probably a class action lawsuits like they did to cable providers over forcing cable boxes.
