Question about the HK S10+ - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

I'm looking to buy an S10+ and wanted to know if the HK version has Google Play? I know the Chinese versions do not, but am unsure if the HK ones will include it. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know.
Thanks.

Unbrand New I9300 purchased in China

Hello everyone,
I just got a new Galaxy S3 from China today, but it came with many preloaded chinese apps. It is not really branded, only preloaded with several things. I tried restoring phone from configurations, but the applications didn't dissapear.
I would like to flash a clean international versin with no added chinese things. Could you please point me to the right direction?
This is my first Android phone, but I had a Tablet before which I flashed a couple times, so I'm not a complete noob.
Thanks a lot in advance!!!
Cheers,
C.S.
You might go to I9300 International for better specific help over there :good:
Your probably the only one on this forum with one so I don't think anyone knows if any ROMs are compatible with it.. But the root method may still be the same so you can try rooting it and than installing Root explorer (paid) or ES File Explorer (free) to remove them from system/app or just get Titanium Backup (paid) after rooting and remove them that way (best option IMO)
So just head over to the international forums and read their easiest root method.
Best of luck, be careful, those things aren't covered under any warranty if you brick it huh :what:

Thanks for the advice. Is there any way to know what "version" I have? I mean, the phone came from China, but knowing the market, it could be Chinese, Hong Kong, Vietnamese or who knows what.

Vietnamese doesn't use those weird letters, it uses French alphabet.

Hmm pretty much the only info about its build you could compare to others would be under Settings > About device, screenshot that and post it up over on the international forums and ask them if it resembles theirs in any way. Personally I'm pretty positive the ROMs won't be directly compatible and definitely wouldn't flash any of them, but if I personally can't use an Android phone without root so I'd personally try the root method and pray to god my phone booted afterward lol
Tough situation man, curious as to how it goes for you so post back if you try !

From what I read about those Chinese knock-offs they only have like 512MB RAM and almost just as bad in storage capacity.. how can anyone use a phone like that nowadays?
I don't think any ROM will even "fit" on it, sorry to say

Some people can only afford what they can afford man. No point in discouraging what they buy. Obviously OP knew it was a knockoff before buying.

It's original. I might be dumb to buy from China, but not so dumb to get a knockoff without knowing...

Really? Not to be a ****, but mind showing us a screen shot under the "about device" section in settings?
Because as far as I know, there are no legit GS3's coming out of China on direct sales..
Do you know the model number? It's in Settings -> About

Weird......most of Sammy's stuff is rolling out of china, including my T-999
I said on "direct sales"
Having a factory in China is not the same as selling unbranded GS3s from China. Plus it's known that they're selling knockoffs

It's not unfathomable that a few slip out and on to the streets
You have to confirm your model number, there are many Galaxy S3
models (international,japan,korean,US) selling in China.
Come on, I'm telling you it's good...
Here is the About device:
Model Number GT-I9300
Android Version 4.0.4
Baseband Version I9300XXLE8
Kernel Version 3.0.15-554452-user [email protected] #1
Build number IMM76D.I9300XXALE8
*#1234#
AP: I9300XXALE8
CP: I9300XXLE8
CSC: I9300OJVALE7
My best guess was that it came from Hong Kong, but I searched the forum with this info (1234) and got Egypt, Morocco, South Africa and UAE.
What should I do? :silly:

I would personally try to flash a standard i9300 ROM onto it. Then you wouldn't have to worry about any sketchy apps that have been added.
There's no guarantee it will work, but if it really is a legit i9300 (which it seems to be), I would imagine the standard international ROM would work on it.

[Q] Google Wallet UK?

Hi all, can't seem to find the answer anywhere, whats the situation with Google Wallet in the UK for Nexus 4?
From what I can tell it seems like it is available for other devices but not the Nex 4, is that right?

I've yet to see it as available for any stock unrooted device in the UK.
Yeah, as is often the way I found my answer shortly after posting. Is not available at all yet in the UK but Googles UK URL misleadingly uses the Google Wallet page from the USA site.
Hope it comes soon, think I'd use it quite a lot.

[G920I] [ZEROFLTEDV] Galaxy S6 Discussion, Custom ROMS and more

I am starting this thread for the G920I model of the S6. Codenamed "Zerofltedv".
Where is G920I Available?
- Singapore
- India
- Australia
- USA
- Latin American countries
- North America
The S6 comes with regional locks for particular countries, And need to be activated with a sim specific for that region.
What is this thread about?
- For discussion.
- Online and local availability.
- Isssue discussion.
- Custom ROM development specific for this variant.
- Pricing
- Accessories
Curious to see which country with the G920I model gets updates first so I can flash that region's firmware in Odin. Australia will obviously be last as usual so I'm keen to get off this firmware ASAP and get onto one that doesn't block auto-rotate in the Gallery app

Interesting, are you on Indian firmware?
And regarding the auto rotate, it's been an issue on Samsung phones in Australia for years due to some lawsuit with Apple.

Can you advise your software details as the Australian variant hasn't had an update and I'd be interested to see the difference in software.
I wonder if the Edge has had an update as well?

No details on the changes, but it looks like Indian firmware has a build date of 31 March while everyone else is still the 7th of March.

They have'nt specified anything specific to be non functional, so it will work on all 4G networks.

Yes, I am on the Indian firmware, which came right out of the box, got a small update yesterday thou. If our models are G920I then we should be able to flash any firmware for the same. My question is what is up with the regional locks? will that be a problem?
IS anyone here having the flash always on problem? mine is very dimly lit if you see it in the dark. very very dim, I have to try hard to observe it. Is it a major issue? are your devices doing the same?
am on a singapore version and i dont have the flash always on problem. battery life sucks though, coming from a OPO.

It's because of the crappy samsung apps running in the background .. Knox and ****. My flash is not that lit that it is noticeable... I have to look really hard. Very hard to see.. But it is glowing.. The technology must be this way I think

Apparently it is not a normal feature and samsung has been made aware of this issue and they are working on it. Saw this today on the xda channel.
Whew, just got this today.
Are there any custom ROMs for the S6 that are in development?

FYI the US S8+ and S8 Active does have a working FM tuner

just put next radio app on my US TMo S8+ and works great with the included headphones as Antenna
I saw Samsung has a fm radio icon i love to use
FYI I just jumped to Tmo S8 active.. and fm radio also works on the active
Really?? that's the one thing I missed about the note 7. Thank you for this.

Yep, confirmed working on Verizon S8+. Good find. I just read the specs somewhere that it didn't have FM and forgot about it. NICE.
Can someone share the apk? thanks
There is no APK for it you just download an app that can access the radio. Next Radio is one, and I believe there's a few others, but Next is the more "known" one.
No fm radio is canada
FM on Sprint S8 already installed
Cool, saw the thread and checked phone to install app. Already installed !! Plugged in my headphones and listening to PBS in minutes.
Thanks for the FYI! I don't know why it would be deactivated in certain regions. Is it consumer demand or studies like the weird G6 feature fragmentation?
thanks for the info mate
i dont understand that the international S8+ Exynos cant do this, what is the difference in this case
the fm radio is built in to the chip... so snapdragon vs exynos

For what it's worth, doesn't work on a UK S8+ Exynos.
not working on my exynos g955f PET from Peru, if i flash another firmware u would be able to unlock the radio?

[Q] What is the "Houston"-app?

So, I've been systemlessly debloating the stock rom and one app got me wondering, what is it? system/priv-app/Houston . The app icon is the standard android one, and it doesn't seem to be a interactable app in any way. Does anyone know what it's for?
It might be worth grabbing a hold of:
./system/priv-app/Houston/Houston.apk
We can then unpack the APK and see what its for.
Sorry I can't help more, I don't have a Oneplus (8), the stock situation in the UK is as grim as other EU/US regions (12gb/256gm model).

I'm not really qualified to check out the app myself, but if you or anyone else feels like disscting the apk and check it out, here is a link to it. Its only about 2MB so maybe it's easilly determined what it is..?
