Oneplus 5 oreo: Real or Fake? (Need confirmation from devs)

Anyone can help me to confirm that op5 oreo beta is based on android 8.0?
Because chinese websites say that op5 oreo beta is based on android 7.1
You can use adb to check:
adb shell strings /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/modem | sed -n 's/.*"apps": "\([^"]*\)".*/\1/p'//
You can google search 一加手机5 8.0 7.1 底层 if you understand chinese.

Any dev can help me to confirm it?
The settings menu is based on 7.1 for some reason.
I don't understand why OnePlus didn't move completely to the 8.0 source
Well, these were my initial thoughts - why the f, OnePlus 5 wants to retain Nougat look & feel. Perhaps, they don't want end users to get confused with new UI and still have new platform.
But I confirm they are using Oreo base - you can check presence of new "manifest.xml" under vendor partition - which is new way forward starting with oreo to define HALs. Also, the kernel source tag 6.x is for Oreo.. everything suggests its based on Oreo but OP team wants to retain Nougat feel (quite stupid in my opinion.)
Also, devices don't start fresh when new android version drops. Instead dev team will "bring up" existing device tree to make it compatible with new blobs and new source API/requirements. Perhaps, some left over from old base we are seeing in the screenshot shared.
Cheers.

The OOS Betas do have the new Oreo UI. It does not have a Nougat look or feel. But it's possible some other mod that OOS uses requires that code. Maybe they need it to keep their spyware working properly.

Maybe. But in this case, if they did so, then I would say bye to OOS and hello to Paranoid.

I ran Oreo on two different Google devices--the Nexus 6P and Pixel XL. OOS is definitely using the Oreo UI. I think One Plus is taking shortcuts to update to Oreo which is pretty typical for the company. Android apps are generally made to be compatible with older Android builds so the fact that OnePlus is using some Nougat HALs and APIs in their version of Oreo isn't something most users would ever even notice. But this isn't new for One Plus. The reason the ported Pixel Camera app works perfectly on many phones but not the OP5 is that One Plus used an outdated camera API in their version of Nougat.

Should I install 7.12.19 update?

Just got Mi A1 today and it says an update is available. I thought it was the Oreo update they announced a few days earlier but it's not. They call it "Transition version for Android O".
Reading here and on Xiaomi forums I found out that both this update and Oreo have a lot of problems so now I don't know what to do? Install this update or wait for a stable 8.0 version?
I didn't have any problems with the update you mention.
I'm also not having any problems with Oreo.
You won't be getting the update to Oreo that everyone else updated to, it's been pulled so you would end up with this December update, then would have to wait for the next Oreo update.

yes oreo is not stable.
I don't understand why 1GB update is needed to go from Android 7.1.2 to 7.1.2 again with just this changelog:
1. D2Acontinuous annoying sharp Sound problem in A1
2. D2A is transferred to 112 when the local emergency number is called in the Czech Republic
3. Transition version for Android O

The current 8.0 stable version is absolutely fine for me. Till now did not faced any issues. After update i did a factory reset.... Works fine. For me 100% better than Nougat

Same here. No issues at all apart from the well known Bluetooth battery statistics issue. I didn't do factory reset after the upgrade.
No issues with Oreo, works as good as Nougat did!
Only a minor cosmetic issue with battery stats.
We do have some problems after the update to Oreo, like Mi remote not working in India

Yes, you should absolutely install 7.12.19 as it is a security update. This is still Android Nougat (version 7).
The update is stable on my phone and actually improved some performance aspects (e.g. the time lag of the fingerprint reader is gone).
For Android Oreo (version 8) you should absolutely wait another month or two.

In my opinion, wait for fixing updates release..
You are taking the risk for getting some annoying bugs with 8.0 version.

Android 9 Pie Beta for NOVA 3i

Nokia X6, now 6.1 plus with SKUID CN, still on 8.1... shall I try Pie?

Hi,
I got a Nokia X6 TA-1099 in September 2018, with Custom Oreo Rom (locked!) and rooted.
I unlocked it, loaded the Global Oreo one for Nokia 6.1 Plus few months ago and prompted to upgrade to Pie 3.45 right after. Once I did it, I noticed screen issues (much large screens, going out of the edges basically). One of the members of this forum told me that this happens when the SKUID is CN instead of WW. I checked and mine was CN. The phone is also recognised as TA-1103 now.
since I need a locked phone for banking, certified etc... I downgraded to Oreo Security Patch August 2018 and locked the phone "forever". I then disabled the automatic updates.
do you know if newer releases of Pie (like V3.54H which I am prompted about) will "fit" my screen properly even though I have SKUID CN? Or shall I just wait for Android Q that perhaps does not have this issue?
I am worried I will need to downgrade and I won't be able to do it anymore.
Thanks!
The SKUID will always trouble you. Because starting with Pie. parts of the OS rely on the SKU to enable/disable certain services. You're better off with either of the two:
1. Be on CN ROM and keep your CN SKUID.
2. Be on WW ROM but change your SKUID to WW.
3. Stay on Oreo (bonus lol)
The broken Status bar will continue to bug you when on Pie with CN SKUID. Also, some system features will remain missing/broken, including double-tap to wake.
Hi
Can I change the SKUID to WW now that I am on Oreo 8.1 August 2018 patch?
I am not finding any info to confirm this, but I appears that Nokia is now allowing unlock.
I would like to:
- change SKUID to WW
- relock
- upgrade to Pie and follow all the future automatic updates
Do you think this is possible?
Thanks for your help as always.
Nokia does not allow unlock. You will need to resort to the paid methods.
Sent from my Nokia 8.1
Please can you send me some links so I can proceed accordingly?
